lol just remembered, i read tigtw on 10th of june and then four days later jeff landed in milano and i went to the airport to welcome him and the italian fc gave out these posters? little banners? and i didn't even look at it properly when i got it bc i was so nervous about meeting jeff but then after we saw him and i calmed down a little i /really/ looked at it and realised that the lyrics were from stranger so i proceeded to have another breakdown in the middle of the airport bc it reminded me of tigtw

the way I've ruined this song for so many people, including myself 😂😭. I've associated it so deeply with that fic that I can't separate it now and every time I listen to it I'm like :( Kim :(( still my favorite jeff song but it truly makes me so emotional. La Casa Bianca (allora era Presidente George Bush) decise che da quel momento in poi il governo degli Stati Uniti d’America aveva diritto di rapire, torturare, financo uccidere qualsiasi cittadino di qualsiasi nazione del pianeta, senza dover rendere conto a nessuno, senza dover subire nessuna implicazione penale per i crimini commessi, senza dover sottostare ad alcuna implicazione morale. La guerra senza fine al terrorismo era stata lanciata. La Bosnia aveva fatto il suo dovere. L’Italia aveva fatto il suo dovere. La mafia aveva fatto il suo dovere. La destra eversiva aveva fatto il suo dovere. Washington raccoglieva i frutti del successo del suo piano pensato oltre due decenni addietro. Giuliano Tavaroli era un ex brigadiere in servizio presso la sezione Anticrimine dei Carabinieri di Milano, poi passato alla sicurezza di Pirelli e, successivamente, del Gruppo Telecom Italia. Tavaroli (il cui nome di battaglia era “Tavola”) era un mago delle intercettazioni. Negli anni Ottanta aveva lavorato per il reparto antiterrorismo del generale Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa, ricevendo un gran numero di encomi. Passato al settore privato, aveva mantenuto rapporti con agenti dell’Intelligence, come il numero due del Sismi Marco Mancini, l’ex 007 del Sisde Marco Bernardini e perfino con un agente di collegamento della Cia. Tavaroli si appoggiava anche a un investigatore privato (Emanuele Cipriani), i cui uffici erano in un appartamento della nuora del gran maestro della P2 Licio Gelli. Questi aveva costruito un proprio archivio («l’archivio Z»). Un sistema di archiviazione elettronico che si basava su tre hard disk esterni, che per precauzione venivano custoditi nella sala consolare della Guinea e richiusi in cassaforte ogni fine settimana. Eh sì, perché Cipriani era anche console onorario della Guinea. Soprattutto, il “Tavola” aveva creato il “Tiger Team”, il gruppo di hacker che aveva il compito di spiare. Chi? Cittadini incensurati, associazioni private, aziende e, se la Cia lo chiedeva, anche presunti terroristi. O quanto meno persone definite «terroriste » dalla Central Intelligence Agency. Un gruppo totalmente illegale, che agiva in maniera illegale grazie alla copertura dei servizi italiani e di quelli statunitensi. Tavaroli e Mancini si erano conosciuti nella sezione speciale anticrimine fondata dal generale dalla Chiesa. Da allora erano sempre rimasti in contatto. Fu per questo che, quando il capo del controspionaggio del Sismi (Mancini) ebbe bisogno di favorire una delicatissima operazione richiesta dal capo stazione della Cia a Milano Robert Seldon Lady e dal responsabile dell’Agenzia in Italia Jeff Castelli, pensò subito al “Tavola”. «C’era un problema. L’imam di viale Jenner era sul punto di cedere e di raccontare tutto ai magistrati milanesi. L’intera operazione progettata per oltre due decenni e attuata sul campo da undici anni stava per saltare. Inoltre, cosa ben più grave, Abu Omar avrebbe rivelato al mondo il coinvolgimento degli Stati Uniti nel terrorismo internazionale, il coinvolgimento dell’Italia nel terrorismo internazionale, l’importanza della Bosnia per il terrorismo internazionale, la natura stessa del terrorismo internazionale. Abu Omar doveva sparire e andava fatto ragionare», ha spiegato l’ex funzionario della Nsa, Wayne Madsen.

the brand new release from boston's my own worst enemy is a 2-song single, "paul revere" & "angel of the underground." tracks were recorded in somerville ma at q division & armory sound, and produced by the incomparable pete weiss. vinyl mastering was done by jeff powell in memphis tn.

paul revere is a two-minute, three-chord stomp and quickly became a fan favorite when it showed up in mowe's live sets. during the weekend studio session, the band brought in friends and neighbors to help bolster the "hey!" refrains and the the big "hurray!" cheer in the third verse.

angel of the underground is the band's tribute of sorts to one of their favorite singers and all-around sweetheart, mary lou lord. through the boston music scene, sue and steve were lucky enough to meet, share bills with and eventually become friends with mary lou, who continues to be an inspiration. it even features a nod to her nick saloman-penned tune, lights are changing, on the outtro.

the band's debut release is filled with moments of sonic sweetness and irrepressible emotion. the dominant factor is the ever-present lead vocals from sue, whose heart-on-your-sleeve approach to songwriting is refreshing and engaging. the breathy and bold backing vocals add a layer of harmonious girl-on-girl bliss to three of the tracks. the twin guitar attack on treblemaker starts out gentle and works its way up to a full-on strum-glaze frenzy, culminating with the knockdown, drag-out anthem "cry for frances." this one-two punch sets its sites squarely on courtney love and hits a bull's eye in true riot grrl-inspired gratification. treblemaker is jam-packed with intoxicating levels of passion, power and pop.

Non c'è nulla che racconti il passare del tempo come la ruggine. Certo, la ruggine non ha il fascino della "madeleine" proustiana e nemmeno quello di tante opere letterarie o artistiche che hanno come oggetto il tempo e il suo trascorrere, ma ha dalla sua parte l'immediata verità dell'evidenza. Parte della bella mostra delle opere di Tosatti, “NOw/here ,esposte a Milano nello Shed del Pirelli Hangar Bicocca fino al prossimo 30 luglio, è costituita da "Ritratti 2022", titolo volutamente fuori luogo visto che i ritratti sono in realtà composizioni astratte basate su due grandi componenti materiche: l'oro e la ruggine, elementi simbolici e reali. Se l'oro è un materiale, che per così dire, non ha bisogno di presentazioni avendo in arte e, in pittura in particolare, una millenaria tradizione, (pensiamo all'arte egizia o a quella bizantina fino a Klimt, a Jeff Koons e oltre), la ruggine ha solo goduto di una certa fama con l'avvento dell'Arte Povera (Kounellis, Fabro, ecc.), ma a parte queste poche, felici esperienze, non sembra essere mai stata considerata come un elemento fondante per una corrente artistica, o per un singolo artista, dopo di allora. "La materia con la quale lavoro è il tempo" afferma Tosatti, nel video intervista in proiezione nell'atrio dello Shed, ed effettivamente la ruggine (e anche l'oro) sono primariamente modificati dal tempo. A questo proposito occorre ricordare "en passant" che Tosatti lavorò già a piene mani sul tema del tempo, proprio a Casa Bossi a Novara nel 2012, in quel "racconto che mai si è potuto scrivere", per usare le stesse parole dell’artista, che fu "Tetralogia della polvere". Per la mostra dell'Hangar, come era facile prevedere, tutto é molto spartano, con l'allestimento, fatto semplicemente di tubi industriali che sorreggono le opere. Per quanto concerne l'oro, il materiale era già stato usato da Tosatti anche per "Histoire et Destin– New Men’s Land" del 2016, quando "foderò" alcune fortificazioni nel nord della Francia, a due passi dal "Pas-de-Calais", dipartimento tristemente noto per essere la porta di ingresso di molti migranti in Francia o per il loro transito verso la Gran Bretagna. Perchè l'oro? Perché loro sono forse l'oro del mondo o perché la fortezza europea deve difendersi? Mi piace pensare invece che l'oro sia un simbolo della redenzione e quindi utilizzato solo per il suo valore fortemente simbolico. Ma la serie "Ritratti" non esaurisce tutta la mostra dello Shed, dove sono presenti anche opere in grafite e carboncino, quelle proprio che danno il titolo all'intera esposizione. Si tratta di "paesaggi astratti", geografie della mente, visioni fuori fuoco fatte di orizzonti rigorosi e di grandi capiture di grafite sfumata, cieli ipotetici dove compaiono (sinistre?) sfere bianche. Tosatti non è nuovo ad esperienze estetiche dove la meditazione sui luoghi si materializza in opere dall'ampio respiro, come è accaduto nel 2020 con "Episodio di Odessa" che faceva parte del progetto "Il mio cuore è vuoto come uno specchio” del 2018, un progetto che prende le mosse dal paesaggio desolato del lago di Kuyalnik, in Ucraina. Come per tutte le mostre allestite nello Shed e nella grande "navata" dell'Hangar Pirelli, artista, ambiente e opere, vivono una specie di simbiosi (se le opere non sono necessariamente site-specific) ed è comunque evidente che il luogo dell’esposizione, in questo caso un luogo molto molto suggestivo, carico di memoria industriale, luogo del tempo per eccellenza il tempo del lavoro, non può essere considerato un ambiente "neutro" o peggio casuale. Lo Shed modella gli artisti almeno quanto gli artisti riescano a modellare lo Shed e la stessa cosa, vale per l'Hangar in generale. Nella fattispecie, L'opera di Gian Maria Tosatti sembra fatta apposta per il luogo che non lascia spazio a divagazioni di sorta. Lo Shed è uno spazio claustrofobico dove aleggia ancora nell'aria quel tempo del lavoro che è spesso coincidente col tempo sottratto. Una mostra senza concessioni allo svago o alla svagatezza...
