It's one more month till Jordan starts going to school. While I'm looking forward to the much needed time off from my mom duties to fulfill other wife and daughter duties, I'm also partly dreading the fact that it will mean significantly lesser time with my jolly wolly pie. And I know a part of my over-obsessive-mom being is not ready to be challenged by seperation anxiety.

I used to struggle to understand the idea of "the days are long but the years are short". However, as my days of having Jordan with me full time is drawing nearer to its end, I am slowly feeling the pinch of that cliched statement. Indeed, the years are oh so very short...

Suddenly, my little pie went from only needing a good swaddle and a good milk feed, to needing social interactions and mental stimulation - something that we are increasingly incapable to offer within the confinement of this home.

My little one is growing way too quickly. The more he transits into a toddler, the more I see a little human with his own character and idiosyncrasies, like a small snippet of what we can expect as he grows more into himself.

I feel my heart strings tug as he displays a new skill he has learnt, or mutters a new word he has heard. He surprises us everyday with his ability to observe and reenact. It makes me feel like although our little human may look aloof and self focused, he is actually more aware of us than we think he is. He sees our little actions and our little habits. He remembers them and one day when it clicks in his mind, he reiterates and adds it to his list of "things that I can do". The learning process of a young mind is facinating indeed.

1 more month till the start of my baby's independence. Yet whether is it a year from now or a 100 years from now, this boy will always and forever be my baby.

Dear Jolly Wolly Jordi Pie Peanut Boy,

It's exactly 9.20PM on a very warm tuesday night. Daddy is hard at work and wont be able to be home tonight, so it's just you and me.

Tonight as I'm looking at you in the serenity of your sleep, my mind begin to wonder how you would be like in 20 years time. Haha.

You're sleeping in my arms now, fast asleep, in the security of Mummy and Halmoni's favourite tiffinay blue sling. I'd like to also think that part of the security comes from the fact that I'm nursing you to sleep, just as I had for the past 8 months. I love this familiar routine, though some days are more frustrating than others. Tonight you fell asleep pretty quickly, a small accomplishment and also a treat for Mummy to rest early tonight. :)

You'd probably not remember how you would cry for Mummy when you're ready for sleep, or cry for Mummy when you're woken up from a nightmare. But my dearest Jordan, Mummy will forever and always cherish these moments that are fast fading with time. You're growing up too quickly, you even have 2 newly erupted teeth now! Haha.

Nothing fills my heart more than to see you happy my dear boy. Every single day when I look at you, I see a part of Daddy within your little soul - you reflect Daddy's resilience and silly mischief, 2 of my favourite characteristics in Daddy. I can only hope you grow into as amazing a man as he is, if not, even better. You're only 8 months old and I already feel proud to be your Mummy everyday.

You will always be my Jordi pie, my little jolly wolly boy. You are always free to fall asleep in Mummy's arms, and know that wherever I am or will be, I will always be keeping you safe.
