Babyface
Tumblr media
Kenneth Brian Edmonds (born April 10, 1959), known professionally as Babyface, is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. He has written and produced over 26 number-one R&B hits throughout his career, and has won 11 Grammy Awards. He was ranked number 20 on NME's 50 of The Greatest Producers Ever list.
Early life
Edmonds was born on April 10, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Marvin and Barbara Edmonds. Barbara was a production operator at a pharmaceutical plant. Edmonds, who is the fifth of six brothers (including future After 7 band members Melvin and Kevon Edmonds, the latter of whom went on to have a modestly successful solo career), attended North Central High School in Indianapolis, and as a shy youth, wrote songs to express his emotions. When he was in eighth grade, Edmonds' father died of lung cancer, leaving his mother to raise her sons alone. At this stage, Edmonds became determined to have a career in music.
Music career
Edmonds later played with funk performer Bootsy Collins, who tagged him "Babyface" because of his youthful look. He also performed in the group Manchild (which had a 1977 hit "Especially for You" with band member Daryl Simmons) as a guitarist. In 1982 Edmonds played with funk band Redd Hott produced by Geoge Kerr. He played keyboards in the light-funk and R&B group the Deele (which also included drummer Antonio "L.A." Reid, with whom he would later form a successful writing and producing partnership). One of his first major credits as a songwriter for outside artists came when he wrote the tune "Slow Jam" for the R&B band Midnight Star in 1983. The tune was on Midnight Star's 1983 double-platinum No Parking on the Dance Floor album. Babyface remained in the Deele until 1988, when both he and Reid left the group.
His album Playlist consists of eight cover songs and two original works. It was released on September 18, 2007. It was the first album on the newly re-launched Mercury Records label.
On February 4, 2014, he released a Grammy Award-winning duet album with Toni Braxton titled Love, Marriage & Divorce on Motown Records.
Other ventures
Writing and producing
From the late 1980s to the early 90s, he wrote R&B and dance songs, writing and producing music for Bobby Brown ("Roni"), Karyn White ("Love Saw It"), Pebbles ("Girlfriend", "Mercedes Boy"), The Whispers ("Rock Steady", "In the Mood"), The Deele ("Two Occasions"), Johnny Gill ("My My My"), After 7 ("Ready or Not"), The Boys ("Dial My Heart"), Damian Dame ("Right Down to It") and Sheena Easton.
In 1989, Edmonds co-founded LaFace Records with Reid. Three of the label's early artists, TLC, Usher, and Toni Braxton, were very successful. TLC's second album CrazySexyCool, for which he wrote and produced some of the hits, became the best-selling album of all time by an American girl group. Under his direction, TLC sold more than 60 million albums worldwide, and a combined total of 75 million records. Toni Braxton's first two albums, Toni Braxton (1993) and Secrets (1996), for which he wrote the majority of the songs, went on to sell a combined total of over 10 million copies in America alone.
Babyface helped form the popular late-1990s R&B group Az Yet. Edmonds also helped to mold and work with some of his then-wife Tracey Edmonds' acts, such as Jon B and producer Jon-John Robinson.
Edmonds has worked with many successful performers in contemporary music. “I’m Your Baby Tonight” (1990), produced for Whitney Houston, was Houston's introduction to R&B music and Edmonds' first No. 1 Top 40 hit in the US. He also wrote and produced Boyz II Men's 1992 "End of the Road" and 1994 "I'll Make Love to You", both of which established records for the longest stay at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He co-wrote, co-produced, and provided backing vocals on Madonna's 1994 Bedtime Stories, which featured the seven-week No. 1 hit "Take a Bow", and shared billing with Eric Clapton on the chart-topping Grammy winner "Change the World" from the Phenomenon soundtrack. He also wrote and produced the No. 1 hit "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" for Houston as well as the rest of the critically acclaimed 10 million-selling Waiting to Exhale soundtrack in 1995, which spawned additional hits for Houston, Brandy and Mary J. Blige.
Additionally, Edmonds has produced and written music for many artists including Bobby Brown, The Whispers, Pebbles, After 7, Johnny Gill, Deele, Karyn White, The Boys, Damian Dame, Tevin Campbell, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Faith Evans, Beyoncé, Diana Ross, Sheena Easton, Toni Braxton, Michael Jackson, Michael Bolton, Paula Abdul, Eric Clapton ("Change the World"), Whitney Houston, Brandy, Mary J. Blige, Tamia, Shola Ama, 3T, Sisqó, Dru Hill, Fall Out Boy, Céline Dion, Samantha Jade, Backstreet Boys, Honeyz, Katharine McPhee, Mariah Carey, Vanessa L. Williams, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Chanté Moore, En Vogue, Zendaya, Kenny G, Kristinia DeBarge, Lil Wayne, Kevin Abstract, P!nk, Marc Nelson, TLC, Ariana Grande, Jessica Mauboy, Xscape, K-Ci & JoJo, NSYNC, Jordin Sparks and Phil Collins, among others. He received three consecutive Grammy Awards for Producer of the Year from 1995 to 1997.
Babyface was in the studio for about two years with Ashanti to produce her album The Declaration (2008).
He worked on the Lil Wayne album Tha Carter III (2008), on the Kanye West-produced "Comfortable". He also worked with R&B singer Monica for her sixth studio album Still Standing (2010).
In 2013, Babyface served as producer for Ariana Grande's debut album Yours Truly, producing the majority of her songs, including her second single, "Baby I".
In September 2014, Babyface collaborated with Barbra Streisand on her album Partners, performing a duet on the track "Evergreen" and background vocals for other album tracks.
Babyface also collaborated with Foxes on her second album, All I Need (2016), producing and co-writing "Scar".
In July 2016, Babyface along with Bruce Roberts and Carole Bayer Sager helped write the song "Stronger Together" sung by Jessica Sanchez. The song was played after Hillary Clinton's speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The song's title is named after the slogan that the Clinton campaign used as a show of uniting behind the Democratic nominee. The song was one of the top trending songs on Shazam that week. The song was widely perceived as positive by the listeners, and received praise by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian.
Acting career and film producing
In 1994, he appeared and performed on an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 entitled "Mr. Walsh Goes to Washington (Part 2)".
In the mid-1990s, Edmonds and his then-wife Tracey Edmonds expanded into the business of motion pictures. Upon setting up Edmonds Entertainment Group, the company producing films such as Soul Food (1997), Josie and the Pussycats (2001), and also the soundtrack for the film The Prince of Egypt (1998), which included contributions from numerous artists, including Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. They also executive produced the BET reality series College Hill (2004-2009). Edmonds also worked with David Foster to compose "The Power of the Dream", the official song of the 1996 Summer Olympics, performed by superstar Céline Dion. Linda Thompson provided the lyrics.
Babyface also participated as a duet partner on the Fox reality show Celebrity Duets (2006).
He was portrayed by Wesley Jonathan in the 2015 Lifetime biopic Whitney and is portrayed by actor Gavin Houston in the Lifetime biopic based on Toni Braxton entitled Un-Break My Heart, which premiered on the network in early 2016.
On August 30, 2016, Babyface was revealed as one of the celebrities who will compete on season 23 of Dancing with the Stars. He was partnered with professional dancer Allison Holker. He and Holker were eliminated on the fourth week of competition and finished in 11th place along with Vanilla Ice and Witney Carson.
Soda Pop Records
Edmonds founded his record label Soda Pop Records in 2009. Since founding the label he has signed R&B icons K-Ci & JoJo, releasing their first album for the label entitled My Brother's Keeper. In 2013 Babyface secured a distribution deal with E1 Music for the label.
Personal life
Babyface married his first wife, Denise during his young adult years. In 1990, Babyface met Tracey Edmonds when she auditioned for the music video for his song "Whip Appeal". They married on September 5, 1992, and have two sons, Brandon and Dylan. On January 7, 2005, Tracey filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. In October 2005, Babyface and Tracey announced that they were ending their marriage of thirteen years.
In 2007, Babyface began dating his backup dancer Nicole "Niko" Pantenburg (former backup dancer for and personal friend of Janet Jackson). Babyface and Pantenburg have a daughter born in 2008. The pair married on May 17, 2014.
In 2015, Babyface donated money to the presidential campaign of Republican Senator Marco Rubio.
Impact
In 1999, a 25-mile (40 km) stretch of Interstate 65 that runs through Indianapolis was renamed the Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds Highway.
Babyface was placed at number 20 on NME's "50 of the Greatest Producers Ever" list. NME wrote of his impact:
"One of the founding fathers of all the best bits of modern US R&B. And so you can't hate him if some of the schlock can be traced back to him also. Babyface was a pioneer of New Jack Swing in the 80s, before setting up LaFace with old mucker Antonio 'LA' Reid to give the world TLC, Usher and Toni Braxton under their guiding hand. There's barely a prominent artist in the genre he hasn't worked with, and as a result he's clocked up a mammoth 26 R&B number ones."

The 2019/20 Premier League season has only just finished, but the transfer market is open and already in full swing. Chelsea have been the busiest in the summer window so far, with deadly attackers Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech already joining in big-money deals from RB Leipzig and Ajax respectively. Werner has already been training with Chelsea following his move from RB LeipzigAnd more arrivals could be coming to Stamford Bridge as Frank Lampard accelerates his efforts to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. Meanwhile, Manchester City are said to be close to sealing their first signing of the summer with Valencia starlet Ferran Torres close to joining in a £40million deal, and Nathan Ake may well follow too. But what position does every Premier League club – including newly-promoted sides Leeds and West Brom – need to strengthen in this summer? Find out below… LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS GOSS Transfer news live: Spurs in Deeney talks, Chelsea's £50m Pope bid, Man United targetLATEST Aubameyang quizzed on Arsenal future, Arteta 'wants to build squad around him'GOSS Arsenal transfer news live: Aubameyang 'sounds like' he is leaving, Guendouzi to JuveEMOTIONAL Martinez breaks down in tears as Arsenal keeper sheds light on 'long' journeyPAINFUL Pulisic and Azpilicueta to miss Bayern clash with injuries suffered in FA Cup finalGOSS Chelsea transfer news live: £50m goalkeeper swoop, starlet wanted in BundesligaGOSSIP Man United transfer news live: Juve's Smalling swoop, £13.5m ace wanted, Sanchez feeINJURY Heartbreak for Pedro as he dislocates shoulder in last minutes as Chelsea playerCLUMSY Arsenal FA Cup hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang drops trophy during celebrationsEND OF ERA Eddie Howe leaves Bournemouth by mutual consent ARSENAL – MIDFIELDER With William Saliba joining up with the Gunners squad for the first time since his impressive loan spell at Saint-Etienne, it seems there is now a defender to genuinely be excited about at the Emirates. And although another is definitely needed, Arsenal should now be prioritising a move for an attacking midfielder to replace the out-of-favour Mesut Ozil. Philippe Coutinho has been linked with a loan move but he seems to have lost his magic touch and Mikel Arteta should go all out to sign Dominik Szoboszlai from Red Bull Salzburg. The Hungarian midfielder has had an excellent campaign, having scored nine goals and added 10 assists in 27 league appearances. He has a release clause of just £22million which would make him a viable option for the club. Szoboszlai has been a long-term target of Arsenal and he is available on the cheapAFP or licensorsASTON VILLA – STRIKER Their struggles at the top of the pitch has been clear for all to see this season so a proven goalscorer simply must be a priority this summer. Dean Smith should look no further than former marksman Tammy Abraham. The Chelsea ace had a great league campaign in 2019/20, finding the net 15 times, but became a bit-part player at the end of the season due to the red-hot form of Olivier Giroud. What’s more, the arrival of Werner at Chelsea could see his game time limited even more so perhaps a loan move back to Villa would be a no-brainer for both parties. Villa should go all out to sign Abraham on loan this summerBRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION – MIDFIELDER Graham Potter has been praised for keeping the Seagulls up whilst playing an expansive brand of football this campaign, but he will know there must be additions if he is to keep his side in the Premier League next season. A new defensive midfielder is a must and Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure would be a great option, though he won’t come cheap. If not, Huddersfield’s Jonathan Hogg could be a handy acquisition as he is good on the ball and could work well with former teammate Aaron Mooy. Doucoure is a workhorse in Watford’s midfield and he will now be a wanted manGettyBURNLEY – WINGER Speculation has been rife about the future of Sean Dyche, who has so far refused to rule out leaving Turf Moor this summer. The Clarets will barely have any money to spend this summer, but if they do find any cash they need to sign a new wide man. Johann Berg Gudmundsson has barely featured this term due to a string of injury setbacks while Dwight McNeil and Ashley Barnes need more help in the final third. Perhaps a deal for Watford’s Gerard Deulofeu could be a smart acquisition. Like Doucoure, Deulofeu will be a wanted man now that Watford have been relegatedCHELSEA – GOALKEEPER A left-back will almost certainly be signed this summer but right now a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga will be a priority for Lampard. The Spaniard has kept just eight clean sheets in the Premier League in 2019/20 and just ONE clean sheet away from home all season. Perhaps the most realistic target is a deal for Burnley’s Nick Pope, who has made 83 appearances in all competitions for the Clarets since joining from Charlton in 2016. The 28-year-old has been a standout performer in Sean Dyche’s XI ever since he replaced now-Aston Villa ace Tom Heaton. Pope kept 15 clean sheets this seasonAFP or licensorsCRYSTAL PALACE – WINGER Ryan Fraser has left Bournemouth after seven years on the south coast and he represents a ready-made replacement for Wilfried Zaha, whose time with the Eagles may come to an end this window. Fraser has undeniable talent and although he’s not been at his best this season, he would suit the Eagles’ counter-attacking style well. However, some bigger clubs in the division may well swoop in for the Scot, who has plenty of years ahead of him in the Premier League at the age of 26. Zaha is a fan favourite at Selhurst Park but he may not be at his boyhood club next seasonGetty Images - GettyEVERTON – WINGER Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott have both struggled for the Toffees since moving from Arsenal, and Bernard, despite impressing in bursts, has also lacked consistency. Therefore, a young and direct winger should be targeted this summer and Ismaila Sarr from Watford fits the bill. The Senegal forward impressed against Liverpool and Arsenal this season and has been a standout player for the Hornets in their disappointing relegation to the Championship this season. He is a constant threat on the counter attack and already has plenty of admirers in the top-flight following Watford’s fall into the second tier. Sarr could seek a Watford exit now they are relegated to the ChampionshipAFP or licensorsLEEDS – STRIKER Canada international Jonathan David looks certain to be heading for a new club this summer and Elland Road could be his new destination. The Gent striker scored 18 goals, with eight assists, in just 27 games in the Belgian league this season to put him on the radar of some of Europe’s top clubs. David is still only 20 and has enormous potential so his next move will be intriguing. The two clubs leading the race appear to be the Whites and Ligue 1 side Lille. It would be an enormous coup if Bielsa could snap him up. David has been on sublime form for Gent this seasonGetty ImagesLEICESTER CITY – WINGER The resumption of football couldn’t have gone much worse for the Foxes, but it’s still been a great season for Brendan Rodgers’ men. The need for more firepower is evident as that was clear from the absence of James Maddison in the last quarter of the season. Harvey Barnes has improved hugely this season and Ayoze Perez has been good in in parts, but another attacker to help Jamie Vardy up top needs to be brought in. Perhaps Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen would be a good signing for Leicester. The Jamaican, who has been linked with Chelsea in the past, is direct, quick and has a good goal-scoring record in the Bundesliga. Bailey, 22, has a good goal-scoring record in the BundesligagettyLIVERPOOL – LEFT-BACK James Milner has been a superb deputy for Andy Robertson when the Scot has been sidelined, but injuries are slowly starting to catch up with the veteran midfielder. A back-up for Robertson is needed and Jurgen Klopp should consider a move Norwich’s Jamal Lewis Lewis, who plays internationally for Northern Ireland, is well accustomed to the rigours of Premier League football, making him a very attractive option indeed. Lewis could be on the move this summer and several top clubs may be interestedGetty Images - GettyMANCHESTER CITY – CENTRE-BACK Pep Guardiola has spent an astonishing amount of money on defenders since he has been at the Etihad, but has remarkably never had a solid back four. However, Nathan Ake is set to seal a £41m move from Bournemouth in the coming days. City have also identified their replacement for Leroy Sane, with Ferran Torres set to join from Valencia, and other rumours have suggested that another centre-back could be signed. Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, who has been linked with a move to England for several years, is said to be the next man on Guardiola’s wish-list. He fits the bill for the type of defender the Spaniard wants, with excellent distribution and an aerial presence to match. Kalidou Koulibaly is still one of the highest rated centre-backs in EuropeGetty Images - GettyMANCHESTER UNITED – WINGER The Red Devils seem to have finally cemented a solid back four after years of disarray, and now their focus must be on adding strength in depth in midfield. Another attacking midfielder – namely Jack Grealish – has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but a move for an out-and-out winger is a must and Jadon Sancho could be man to take the iconic no.7 shirt. The Borussia Dortmund ace had a blistering Bundesliga campaign, hitting 17 goals and the same amount of assists this season. A deal for the England ace looks to be edging closer by the day. Sancho is a long-term target for Man United and a deal could be finalised soonAFPNEWCASTLE UNITED – STRIKER Joelinton has had a torrid first season at St James’ Park but by his own admission he isn’t an out and out striker and prefers playing out wide. Therefore, Steve Bruce should give him a run-out on the wing and sign a goal-getter who actually knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. Troy Deeney is Premier League proven and could be a great option, but if that fails, a move for former striker Aleksandar Mitrovic could be smart – though that will depend on whether Fulham are promoted. Deeney could be a good option for Newcastle now that Watford are downGETTYSHEFFIELD UNITED – GOALKEEPER There has been a lot of speculation regarding the future of Dean Henderson, who is currently on loan at Bramall Lane. Manchester United could make him their new no.1 in place of David de Gea next season as the Spaniard has struggled for form throughout the campaign. Other reports have claimed Chelsea could also make a bid for the 23-year-old, who has been a standout performer for the Blades on their return to the Premier League. Aaron Ramsdale has been touted as a possible replacement for Henderson should the England stopper return to Manchester United. It is believed the Cherries will demand around £11m for their glovesman. Ramsdale is a reported target for Sheffield United this summerGETTYSOUTHAMPTON – CENTRE-BACK Saints had a brilliant turnaround following their 9-0 drubbing at the hands of Southampton, but they have still shipped in a disappointing 59 goals in the Premier League season. That is more than any team not directly involved in the relegation battle since lockdown and Ralph Hasenhuttl is in the market for at least two new centre-halves. Valladolid’s Mohammad Salisu, who has a £10.9m release clause, is said to be one his main targets in the market. Real Valladolid defender Salisu is a reported target for Southampton this summerGETTY IMAGESTOTTENHAM HOTSPUR – LEFT-BACK Spurs need to strengthen in several positions, including in midfield and on the wings, but their need for new full-backs is the biggest necessity. Japhet Tanganga had to fill in as a makeshift right-back earlier this season when Serge Aurier was suspended, whilst Danny Rose was loaned to Newcastle and will probably stay there permanently. A cheap option for Jose Mourinho could Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico. The 27-year-old has been a standout performer for the Dutch club over the last two seasons and would reportedly be available for £20m. The Argentine provided five goals and five assists for Ajax in all competitions in 2019/20 and back in May, his agent admitted that the left-back would be looking for a new club in the summer. Tagliafico could be a cheap full-back option for MourinhoWEST BROMWICH ALBION – ATTACKING MIDFIELDER Slaven Bilic has done a brilliant job to get the Baggies back in the big time but they need signings or they could go straight back down. One player who should be high up on his wish-list should be QPR’s playmaker Ebere Eze. The 22-year-old has racked up 14 goals and eight assists in 46 Championship outings for Rangers this season. West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle are also said to be considering a move. Eze is a target for a host of Premier League clubsGetty Images - GettyWEST HAM UNITED – STRIKER The form of Michail Antonio and Tomas Soucek undoubtedly saved West Ham’s season and perhaps showed that the flashier signings such as Sebastien Haller and Felipe Anderson shouldn’t be relied on. A striker needs to be brought in to partner Antonio and West Ham should go all out for Brentford ace Ollie Watkins, who has been brilliant this season with 25 goals in the second tier. If Brentford are promoted through the play-offs, a deal for the 24-year-old would be unlikely, however. Watkins netted 25 goals in the Championship this seasonGetty Images - GettyWOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS – CENTRE-BACK Ryan Bennett is set to return from Leicester after failing to make an impact at the King Power Stadium, but he may not play a further part for the club with Roman Saiss cementing himself as the third centre-back behind Conor Coady and Willy Boly. Nevertheless, Nuno Espirito Santo will need another centre-back and who better to add than Jan Vertonghen? He’s as experienced as they come and would do enormous things for the club’s squad depth, as well as provide fresh competition for any one of the centre-backs who has a dip in form. It would be a great signing if they managed it, but a host of top European clubs are circling on the Belgian. Real Madrid Neymar bid
Paris Saint-Germain have apparently rejected a three-player bid for Neymar from Real Madrid.
L’Equipe say the La Liga giants offered £100million plus Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Keylor Navas in an attempt to get the French club to do business.
But PSG are claimed to have rebuffed the offer.
The report claims Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are all in the running for the Brazilian.

Rafinha loan
Barcelona are planning to loan out Rafinha but want him to sign a new contract first.
That’s according to Marca, with Barca thinking a loan move can increase the player’s value in order to cash in next summer.
The 26-year-old’s current Nou Camp deal expires next summer and Valencia are considering a move to sign him on loan.

Ousmane Dembele
Ousmane Dembele’s agent insists the winger does not care if Barcelona sign Neymar.
The Brazilian could return to the Nou Camp this summer and give the Frenchman extra competition for spots out wide.
But Moussa Sissoko told RMC Sport: “He doesn’t feel at all threatened. When you play at Barca, you expect to be in competition there.
“Neymar or another, he does not care about that, he only cares about what he has to do.”
Neymar sends Barcelona fans wild
Barcelona supporters have started to get excited as they feel Neymar has dropped a transfer hint on Instagram.
The 26-year-old liked a video of Lionel Messi returning to training.
And Barcelona fans are desperate to see former hero Neymar return to the Nou Camp.
“Neymar liked it – you know what that means,” one supporter wrote. “Neymar, come home already.”

Paul Pogba bid
Real Madrid will make a bid for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba this week after their interest in the Frenchman grew in the last few days, claims transfer expert Ian McGarry.
McGarry says it is very unlikely Real will be able to move out enough players to be able to make room for Pogba, but says nothing should be ruled out.
“We told you on Friday’s podcast our information was Madrid were going to make a bid for Pogba this week,” McGarry said on the Transfer Window Podcast.
“That’s only become stronger in the last two to three days and from the contacts we speak to with regards to what’s going to happen.
“Madrid are a club who believe that they, when they come in for a player, and the player wants to move, that that’s what usually happens, and that’s fair enough. I do believe there will be a bid from Madrid this week.”

Neymar blow
Barcelona may have left it too late to get a deal over the line for Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.
Neymar looks set to stay at Paris Saint-Germain despite heavy interest from former club Barcelona, claims French football expert Jonathan Johnson.
“At this moment in time I’m not sure I can see him going to either [Barcelona or Real Madrid] before the end of the transfer window,” Johnson said on Sky Sports News. “I think he may well end up staying in Paris by default.
“Barcelona have left it very late to pull off a transfer of this size given their financial problem.
“Real Madrid have never really been as set on bringing Neymar in as Barcelona have. So at this moment in time I think it looks more likely that he stays in Paris.”

Christian Eriksen latest
Tottenham should cash in on Christian Eriksen if he wants to leave the club this summer, says former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
The Denmark midfielder has entered the final year of his contract and is open to a fresh challenge elsewhere with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus all possibilities.
“I’d be surprised if they do keep hold of him due to the fact that he still hasn’t signed his contract that he has been offered,” Robinson said.
“The chairman has obviously put a price tag on his head and they have to get value for money. If he’s not going to sign a contract then they have to cash in.”

Neymar latest
Paris Saint-Germain have rejected Barcelona’s latest offer for Neymar, which would have been worth a whopping £172m.
That’s according to Spanish outlet Cadena Cope, who report that Barcelona offered a season-long loan deal with a mandatory purchase option.
The Spanish club are believed to have offered up an initial payment of £36million for a one-year loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent for £136m.
Neymar, 27, remains desperate to leave the Parc des Princes with Real Madrid and Juventus also looking to snare his signature.

Neymar stance
Neymar has his heart set on a return to Barcelona, but the reason he has remained silent amid increased transfer speculation is because he would also welcome a move to Real Madrid.
That’s according to a report from ESPN, which stated players at Real Madrid have contacted Neymar to insist he would not face a hostile welcome.
The Brazilian has reportedly made it clear that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, with Barcelona keen to re-sign their former star.
But ESPN suggest Real could hijack negotiations between Barcelona and PSG.

Wanted: Kai Havertz
Liverpool are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz next summer.
Havertz, 20, has long been on Jurgen Klopp’s radar and the deal could finally take place with German website Sport1 claiming this will be his final season with Leverkusen.
The German international boasts an incredible record in the Bundesliga having registered 17 goals in 34 appearances last season – and he’s already up and running in the 2019/2020 campaign.
Sport1 think Havertz will cost around £92million next summer with several European heavyweights looking to secure his signature.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are among the main interested parties.
Mario Mandzukic?!
Barcelona are showing interest in Mario Mandzukic.
Mandzukic, 33, was tipped to join Manchester United earlier this summer – but a deal failed to materialise.
Now, Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim Barcelona could listen to a swap deal with the forward heading to La Liga and Ivan Rakitic moving the other way.
Mandzukic made 33 appearances for Juventus in all competitions last season – scoring 10 goals and providing a further seven assists.

Ronaldo retirement?!
Cristiano Ronaldo could time on his playing career in the next 12 months.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is showing no sign of slowing down on the field having scored 28 goals in 43 appearances for Juventus last season.
“I don’t think about that,” Ronaldo told TVI on Tuesday. “Maybe I can finish my career next year… but I can also play up to 40 or 41.
“I don’t know. What I always say is to enjoy the moment. The gift is excellent and I have to continue to enjoy it.”

‘Neymar would be a great signing’
Former Barcelona star Rivaldo believes the Spanish champions are in for a difficult season.
But believes the arrival of his compatriot Neymar will help and Barca fans will accept his return despite his antics during the 2017 transfer to PSG.
“It’s obviously very early in the season but the weekend loss to Bilbao is the first warning that Barcelona have a tough season ahead. Adding to that, the team have been unfortunate with important attacking players getting injured.
“In a moment like this, of course Neymar would be a great signing for Barcelona, despite all that happened after his departure and with some people against his return, but I think he could be a big help and with his excellent football, he would end up convincing everybody.”

Neymar announcement plan
Barcelona have commissioned Nike to produce extra replica kits, because they believe they are close to completing Neymar’s return from PSG.
That’s according to Catalunya Radio, who claim that Barca have already set the wheels in motion regarding Neymar’s announcement.
According to the station, the club has prepared an announcement video to be shared on the club’s social media channels.
They still have some work to do on a prospective deal, however.

Juventus negotiations
Barcelona and Juventus are in talks over a potential swap deal involving Juan Miranda and Daniele Rugani.
Italian website Tuttosport claim negotiations between the two parties are already underway with Juventus eager to snap up the services of teenage defender Miranda.
It’s claimed Maurizio Sarri’s side are prepared to send Rugani the other way.
Tuttosport also report that Juventus have used the discussions to enquiry about the availability of Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic.
The Neymar deal
Barcelona are preparing their latest offer for Neymar, according to reports in Spain and there’s hope it will be enough to bring him back from Paris Saint-Germain.
The package proposed by the Catalans is the option of a two-year loan, but in the second season there would be an obligation to buy.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have reported that the fresh offer has been made by Barca because they are in a rush to sign the star.
Barcelona have informed the French club of their intentions and are prepared to explain further details of their offer if necessary.
They would have to pay the transfer off within two years of Neymar moving to the Camp Nou for a second time.

Sad about Phil
Brazilian legend Rivaldo believes Lionel Messi was central to Philippe Coutinho failing to produce his best for Barcelona.
Coutinho joined Bayern Munich on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent having underwhelmed at the Nou Camp.
“I’m a little disappointed about his failure in gaining a regular place in the first team, but perhaps he was no longer confident about it and unhappy, so he opted for a move to another big club trying to finally recover his best football from his time at Liverpool,” Rivaldo told Betfair.
“It’s never easy to find your space in a team where Lionel Messi constantly takes all the credit and responsibility. There are few players in the world capable of reaching such situation and imposing themselves, and maybe Coutinho didn’t have enough patience to find his spot in the team.
“The Argentinian star is the team leader and will keep playing at his best level for about three or four more years, so it is difficult to see other players shining at their best at Barcelona.”

Neymar + Ronaldo = greatness
Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo could form an electric partnership at Juventus.
That’s the opinion of former Barcelona star Rivaldo, who believes the move would be beneficial for both players.
Real Madrid and Barcelona were considered the only two interested parties in the battle to sign Neymar – but Maurizio Sarri’s side have entered the frame in recent days.
“It now seems like Juventus are also thinking about signing Neymar,” Rivaldo told Betfair. “It would be great to see him playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. I believe it would be wonderful for CR7 to have Neymar by his side, as the Brazilian would help him a lot with assists and goals all season.
“I even imagine them combining for brilliant plays and Neymar could also help by sharing responsibilities as Juventus only has one big star now. It would be a beneficial move for the players and naturally for the club.”

Christian Pulisic snubbed Manchester United
Christian Pulisic decided not to join Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho, according to the midfielder’s former coach.
The Red Devils were believed to be interested in the American, but he eventually joined Chelsea instead.
And Brackley’s youth coach Robin Walker has opened up on why Pulisic picked Chelsea with Mourinho to blame.
“I’m a Chelsea fan, I grew up in London supporting them,” Walker told The Telegraph. “When I was in Dortmund last year, I told him that he had to come.
“He wouldn’t go to Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho. His father couldn’t stand Mourinho, because he didn’t promote young players.”

Gareth Bale's Real Madrid exit looks close - is he the most successful 'failure' ever?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gareth Bale scored three Champions League final goals for Real Madrid
Gareth Bale has helped Real Madrid to unprecedented European dominance, has scored decisive goals in the biggest matches and is arguably Britain’s best footballing export.
Yet it appears his time at the Bernabeu is set to come to an end, with many fans happy for him to leave and manager Zinedine Zidane saying it would “be best for everyone” if the 30-year-old were to find a new club.
From the outside it seems bizarre – how can such a decorated player be so unwanted at a club where he has achieved so much?
Leaving aside the high demands of Real supporters – who also booed Cristiano Ronaldo at times, don’t forget – BBC Sport takes a look at the Welshman’s six years in Madrid.
So many trophies and plenty of goals
Gareth Bale with the Champions League for the fourth (and final?) time
When Real signed Bale from Tottenham in 2013, they had not won the Champions League since 2002.
With the Welshman, they won it four times in the following six seasons, only failing to lift European football’s most coveted prize twice, including in 2018-19.
Remarkably, that means Bale has been involved in 30% of all of the club’s European Cup successes.
That record makes him the competition’s joint 12th most successful player – only former Real team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo (five) has won more Champions League trophies since the 1992 rebrand.
Bale has also won one La Liga title and one Copa del Rey, as well as three Club World Cups, three Uefa Super Cups and a Spanish Super Cup.
To compare him to other recent Real icons, he has won more Champions Leagues than Raul (three), current manager Zidane (one), Luis Figo (one) and Brazilian Ronaldo (zero).
And his goal tally of 102 in 231 games – with 65 assists – is impressive, if not mind-boggling.
Bale managed only two fewer goals than Brazil hero Ronaldo and scored two more than Fernando Morientes did for Real between 1997 and 2005. His minutes-per-goal record (163) beats Raul, whose 325 goals in 741 games took 184 minutes each.
Perhaps surprising – given how Zidane was considered such a huge part of Real’s recent history – is the fact Bale has played four games more for the club than the Frenchman and scored more than twice as many goals. Zidane had 49 goals in 227 games. Their assist levels were similar, with Zidane setting up 66, one more than Bale.
Unfortunately for Bale, his records are made to look human by Cristiano Ronaldo’s 450 goals and 131 assists in 438 games, a goal every 84 minutes.
A man for the big moments
Only three players have ever scored more European Cup final goals than Bale’s three – Real legends Alfredo di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas (seven each) and Cristiano Ronaldo (five).
He scored in two separate Champions League finals – including arguably the greatest European Cup final strike ever scored – and netted in a shootout in another.
He also scored a stunning winner in one of only two El Clasico Copa del Rey finals since 1990.
Here are his five best moments in a Real jersey – with three coming in his first season after a then world-record £85m move.
2014 La Liga – Real Madrid 5-0 Rayo Vallecano
Out of Bale’s 78 La Liga goals, this was arguably his best. Seven touches were all he needed to run 70 yards with the ball and score.
He was just outside his own box when he latched on to a headed clearance. His first touch took him in between two Rayo Vallecano players. Two more later and he was in the opposition half, before cutting inside a defender and slotting home from the edge of the box.
He would score nine goals in seven games against Rayo, including four in a 10-2 win the following year.
2014 Copa del Rey final – Real Madrid 2-1 Barcelona
Bale marked his first Real final with one of the greatest El Clasico goals.
With five minutes remaining, Bale ran from his own half, nudging the ball past Marc Bartra and then arcing his run off the pitch to speed past the defender before cutting inside and slotting the ball between the legs of keeper Jose Manuel Pinto.
“I have never seen anything like it. It looked like the ball was going out, but he kept pushing and ran off the field to get it. It was amazing,” said then team-mate Xabi Alonso.
2014 Champions League final – Real Madrid 4-1 Atletico Madrid (aet)
Having endured an 11-year Champions League drought – their previous victory coming when Zidane scored a famous volley against Bayer Leverkusen – Bale helped Real win the elusive “La Decima”. The club’s 10th European Cup triumph was the perfect ending to his first season in Spain.
Bale headed in what would prove their 110th-minute winner against Atletico before two late Real goals gave the game a deceptively comfortable-looking scoreline.
2018 Champions League final – Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool
Bale’s greatest moment came in last year’s Champions League final against Liverpool, with the 61st-minute replacement for Isco becoming the first substitute to score twice in a European Cup final.
Two minutes after coming on, he sent an unbelievable bicycle kick past Loris Karius to give Real a 2-1 lead, in a goal up there with the greatest scored in any European game – or any final.
His second goal – which came from 30 yards and was fumbled in by Karius – helped seal Real’s 13th European Cup.
2018 Fifa Club World Cup – Kashima Antlers 1-3 Real Madrid
In a final season with few high points, Bale scored a hat-trick in the Club World Cup semi-final – a tournament Real take seriously. Only Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Luis Suarez have scored trebles in that cup.
The Welshman opened the scoring via the post, tapped a second into an empty net and then smashed in a third from a tight angle.
Bale won all three Fifa Club World Cups he played with Real – he was injured for the 2016 event – scoring six goals in as many games.
Is Bale Britain’s greatest football export?
Steve McManaman won seven trophies with Real – compared to Bale’s 13
In terms of trophies? Yes.
In terms of goals? Yes
No British player has ever won more major titles or scored more top-flight goals abroad than Bale.
Another Wales legend, John Charles, scored 93 goals in 155 games for Juventus, winning three Serie A titles and two Italian Cups.
Former England winger Steve McManaman managed just over half of Bale’s trophy haul with two Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles, one Uefa Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup and one Spanish Super Cup – all with Real. He managed only 14 goals though.
David Beckham scored a combined 42 goals for Real, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris St-Germain, winning La Liga, two MLS Cups and Ligue 1.
Kevin Keegan managed 43 goals for Hamburg and won the Bundesliga, although he achieved one thing Bale never did; winning the Ballon d’Or – twice.
Scot Paul Lambert became the first British player to win the European Cup with a non-British side in 1997 when Borussia Dortmund beat Juventus – while Chris Waddle lost the 1991 final with Marseille.
Waddle won three Ligue 1 titles in a row and was named Marseille’s second greatest player of the century by the fans, behind striker Jean-Pierre Papin.
Read more about British football’s best exports
But despite surpassing all those achievements, it seems Bale’s departure from Real will elicit little emotion from the club’s fans or manager.
“Zidane is a disgrace – he shows no respect for a player that has done so much for Real Madrid,” Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, told AFP.

10th Anniversary Thank yous
Friday night, we celebrated our 10th anniversary, and it was grand!! We wanted to take the time to personally name and thank the filmmakers that have been a huge part of making the movie challenge what it is.
First off, the Cob Job crew, Addison Rogers, Lewis Rogers, David J. Woodruff, Matthew Tobey, Dave Walter, and myself, Eric Ayotte, who made the very first movies, for the theme "Life In The Fast Lane". They have all continued to produce high-quality, funny, clever, top-notch content for the movie challenge!
Since then, we have had so many amazing folks making movies:
Casey White and Coleman Krietemeyer joined in while they were in High School, in 2009, and have been participating since. What an iconic and funny duo!
Rick Vdot brought his own brand of animation style to the challenge and has been consistently making a new hilarious short every month.
Laura Stockwell was involved early on, then joined forces with her partner Matt Stockwell, and they started making a ton of movies under "Stockwalter" productions.
Jordan Henline and 88.8 productions were a big part of the movie challenge early on, and still participate when they can with their clever, situational dark humor.
Charlie Jones has been co-organizing the challenge for the past 6 years, and is an amazing actor, writing and appearing in tons of short films!
Christopher Wellington Green and Derek Eller as Shallow Cinema brought in a whole new crew of folks, and made amazingly funny movies.
Sarah Zuniga (Anderson) not only participated, but helped organize the challenge and the screenings early on.
Marty McVicious has always hopped in and out, appearing in many movies and making a bunch himself.
Mkl Drekka has also appeared in many movies, and helped add a more experimental element to the challenge.
Sarah E. Dunevant refreshingly added an experimental element as well, and appeared in many other films.
We had some great participation from out-of-town: Benjamin Epstein, from Baby Pony Food Productions, has made some killers over the years, popping in and out. Jonathan and Andy had their crew with My Friend Cleveland making some great movies early on. Across the pond we had Nathan Stephens, Naomi Stephens, Laura Da Costa, JC, Daniel Ellis, Joe Keys, Mama Lips, Murf Murphy, and more joining in.
Nathan Vollmar and William Winchester Claytor, Nineteenth State, made a few cinematic gems for the challenge.
We've had a few animators involved, Em Timm (who has also made some great live actions), Trent Fred, Thomas DeCarlo is newer to the challenge, Hadley Gephart was animating some fun intros for the challenges for a while.
Aaron Marshall has helped balance out the humor with his brand of darker, dramatic shorts and experimental pieces. Auris Apothecary has also added a more experimental cinematic element at times. Torlando Hakes had a good series going with "Ask Torlando". Ginger Alford has not made many movies, maybe just the one (Floppy Disk), BUT it is fantastic!!
SO many folks to name, so I'm going to do my best to list the many more who have been involved over the years: Mars Jarvis, Mark Lovotny, Michael Lierly, Emi Night, Llama School, David Britton, Byrne Bridges, Michael Hession, Matthew White got the family involved, Erin Tobey, Nick Romy, Jessie Grubb, David Davtyan, Mike Harpring, Seth Muchler, Madeline Robinson, Bridget Ryan, Biz Strother, Kristin Anne, Joshua Brewer, Chaz Mottinger, Nile Arena, David Carter, Evan Smail, Nathaniel Charles Sexton, Lynz Tee, Shannyn Michaud, Luke Anderson, Tugboat Pictures, Out of the Basement, Chris Eugene, Byron Jordan Wolter, Bethy Squires, Crystal Sullivan, Garrett Ann Walters, Skye Clark, Jared Cheek, Mike Adams, Duane Busick, Will Power, Elizabeth Scott, Ashley Bayer, Emily Jimmerson, Jenna Beasley, Robbie Gonyea, Brian Evans, Neil Smith, and so many more.
Big thank you to everyone that has ever made a film! To all the writers, idea makers and givers, actors, musicians, jokers, editors, costume makers and lenders, and anyone that ever helped make one happen. And, of course, thank you to everyone that's come out to a screening and encouraged the challenge. It's been an amazing 10 years, with over 900 films produced!! You all are the best! Here's to 10 more!

Is data the new oil? How information became the fuel of the future
It’s driving new economies, creating new power players and monopolies — and fuelling new conflicts
Not too long from now, you or I will wake up a few minutes earlier than normal because Alexa, our voice-controlled home help, will already know it’s raining and that the traffic will be heavy.
As we step outside, our smartphone will direct us to the nearest Uber or, if we prefer, a Tesla electric car that is part of a shared on-demand fleet to which we subscribe.
When we approach the office, ‘our’ car will guide itself to the nearest parking space. At lunchtime, we will book a weekend break on Airbnb and order some new summer clothes from Farfetch to be delivered to our destination, by drone, on the day we arrive.
After work, we will stop at the new Amazon supermarket to pick up dinner. There are no cashiers. Sensors monitor what we pick and our Amazon Prime account, activated by our smartphone as we enter, is charged. When we finally get home we will catch up on our favourite Netflix drama.
All the while we will be monitored as never before. The amount of our personal data that the tech giants harvest will reach 180 zettabytes — 180 followed by 21 zeros — in just a few years’ time, predicts IDC, a market-research firm. Big data — the capture, storage and commercial exploitation of our digital identities, to which we all too often agree every time we sign up to a new product or service — is getting so big it is not just helping Silicon Valley to create new, once unimaginable digital services, it is driving a new industrial revolution. ‘Data is the new oil that drives the future, just as oil did in the past,’ says Jonathan Taplin, author of Move Fast and Break Things: How Google, Facebook and Amazon Cornered Culture and Undermined Democracy.
Oil, along with electricity, forged the modern globalised world. It created modern global road, air, sea and space travel, refrigeration, elevators, pharmaceuticals, plastics, fabrics, cosmetics, the chemicals that clean the water we drink and fertilise the fields where our food grows, and much more besides. It helped to spawn the great icons of modern capitalism — GE, Ford, General Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen, Boeing, Airbus, Nasa, Otis, Bayer, Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil, GSK, Astra Zeneca. And on and on.
Now big data threatens the old order and those old icons. It is fast replacing finance as the driver of business and market behaviour. The big, well-capitalised companies of today and yesterday risk being replaced by smaller start-ups, many of which use data to make new markets that they dominate, instead of making things. Uber is now more valuable than many traditional carmakers, even though it does not make cars. Airbnb, which is scarcely a decade old, is already finding more of us holiday accommodation each year than Hyatt, even though it owns no hotels. Netflix, Apple and Amazon are gnawing at the big broadcasters and Hollywood even though they do not own huge studios and cable companies. Spotify and iTunes are doing the same to traditional record labels, even though they have no roster of artists.
New data-driven retailers threaten the old order. Amazon knows so much about us and has such whizzy new ideas that it now challenges every retailer, including supermarkets, the one sector that has, so far, resisted its advance. At its new cashierless ‘ghost’ supermarkets, the first of which is due to open in Seattle this spring, not only will we not have to queue, the store will know the foods we like and direct us to them when we walk in — even offering money off our favourites. Fashion and grooming start-ups — whether big, like Net-A-Porter or Farfetch, or small, like Dollar Shave Club — are knocking lumps out of some of the world’s poshest brands because they use data to better target consumers with their often cheaper wares.
As the new start-ups grow, a new cadre of billionaires is emerging, replacing the oil-dependent industrial barons of the past. Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Google’s Sergey Brin and Larry Page, Bill Gates at Microsoft, Elon Musk of Tesla and Alibaba’s Jack Ma now top the Forbes and Fortune lists of the wealthiest business leaders on the planet.
What makes the data that we generate more valuable than black gold is that it is unique, personal, live, accurate and, thanks to the plummeting cost of storing and transporting it, can be traded cheaply. Anyone can find out who we are, where we are, what we like and offer us tailored new products and services as and when we might want them. Most of them time we sign up. The one big difference between oil and data — that data will never run out — oddly makes it more valuable because firms know they will always be able to exploit it.
The fast take-up of the new wave of data-driven services tempts tech evangelists to argue that big data makes our lives better. It can. The more data it has, the better Silicon Valley can predict our behaviour — and serve up new products, many now using artificial intelligence. But, alas, the past 12 months have shown big data can and all too often does unleash a cascade of forces that are making the world more dangerous and volatile.
At a simple level, the more bytes we generate and companies collect, the more vulnerable it makes us to theft. Many people reading this magazine will have had their credit card details stolen at least once. Most thefts occur from company websites. The more advanced data services become, the greater the risk of hacks. Data-driven automated cars that rely on car-to-car data sharing have been hacked and the hackers have taken control of the brakes and the steering.
Social media originally promised liberation. Remember the Facebook revolutions of the Arab Spring? But it has proved an even more useful tool for stoking anger. Many US analysts argue it was fake news, possibly generated in Russia and targeted to key voters using personal data, that swung the presidential election in favour of Donald Trump. British firm Cambridge Analytica is at the centre of a probe over its alleged involvement. Whatever we may think of the Tweeter-in-Chief, few of us welcome the idea of Moscow using social media to pick political winners in the west.
Scariest of all, just as global powers have historically battled for the control of oil resources and oil trading routes, so latter-day nation states are conspiring to control the data and cyber networks upon which governments and their citizens depend. Earlier this month, UK politicians voiced concerns after Global Switch, the data centre company owned by the billionaire Reuben brothers, sold a 49 per cent stake to a consortium of Chinese investors, despite concerns about national security.
Britain’s National Security Strategy makes cybercrime a Tier 1 threat, on a par with international terrorism and military crises, and a higher risk than nuclear attack. Last year’s WannaCry attack on the NHS was linked to North Korea.
There are other concerns, too. By giving away our data so easily, we have handed the five biggest tech firms — Google, Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Microsoft — the kind of monopoly that Standard Oil, created by John D Rockefeller, enjoyed in the early 20th century. They are five of the most valuable listed firms in the world and have enormous power. Amazon determines how we shop, Google how we acquire knowledge, Facebook how we communicate. Their concentrated authority also means they can see when a new product or service gains traction, allowing them to copy it or simply buy the upstart before it becomes too great a threat. That’s what Facebook did with Instagram and WhatsApp. It made them an offer they couldn’t refuse and swallowed them whole. ‘The super-platforms wield too much power,’ says Ariel Ezrachi of the University of Oxford and author of Virtual Competition: The Promise and Perils of the Algorithm-Driven Economy.
Is there anything we can do? Viktor Mayer-Schönberger, author of the best-selling book, Big Data, and other data experts want a change in regulation. Data collectors and users should be held more accountable for how they store and manage our bits and bytes, rather than simply obtaining our consent to do pretty much as they please. Just as food makers are barred from using certain ingredients, online firms should be prohibited from using certain data or using it in such a way that harms us. There should also be stiffer penalties for hacks.
Others suggest we, not the big firms, should own our data and be free to move it all from one tech platform to another whenever we wish, just as we transfer our mobile phone number from one network to the next. There should also be opt-outs: we should have the right to anonymity, as long as we acknowledge that this means no longer enjoying access to free services or tailored commercial offers.
These are good ideas and there are signs that change is coming. EU competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager is already suing Silicon Valley giants for failing to safeguard users’ rights and data. Mark Zuckerberg has vowed to ‘fix’ Facebook in 2018, so users are protected and last week announced it would change how its news feed works, making posts from businesses, brands and media less prominent.
In the meantime you can take measures to protect yourself, using a virtual private network on your devices and using Apple products because they have the best encryption and privacy protection built in — although you do have to turn on FileVault encryption on your MacBook. Choose browsers that only share some of your data, not all of it, such as Safari, or none of it, such as DuckDuckGo (which Vestager uses). And, we’ve said it before, it means choosing robust passwords and enabling two step verification on all important services, such as email and banking.
It’s your data. Take care of it and enjoy the revolution.

Kenneth Brian Edmonds (born April 10, 1959), known professionally as Babyface, is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. He has written and produced over 26 number-one R&B hits throughout his career, and has won 11 Grammy Awards.
Early life
Edmonds was born on April 10, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana,to Marvin and Barbara Edmonds. Barbara was a production operator at a pharmaceutical plant. Edmonds, who is the fifth of six brothers (including future After 7 band members Melvin and Kevon Edmonds, the latter of whom went on to have a modestly successful solo career), attended North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and as a shy youth, wrote songs to express his emotions.
The tune was on Midnight Star's 1983 double-platinum No Parking on the Dance Floor album, and while it never was a single, it received massive radio airplay and the song is still played on quiet storm radio stations.
In the late 1980s, he contributed to the creation of new jack swing, writing and producing music for the likes of Bobby Brown, Karyn White, Pebbles, Paula Abdul and Sheena Easton.
In 1989, Edmonds co-founded LaFace Records with Reid. Three of the label's early artists TLC, Usher, and Toni Braxton were very successful. TLC's second album CrazySexyCool, for which he wrote and produced some of the hits, became the best selling album of all time by an American girl group. Under his direction, TLC was able to sell more than 60 million albums worldwide, and a combined total of 75 million records.
“I’m Your Baby Tonight” (1990), produced for Whitney Houston, was his first No. 1 hit "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" for Whitney Houston as well as the rest of the critically acclaimed 10 million-selling Waiting to Exhale soundtrack in 1995, which spawned additional hits for Houston, Brandy and Mary J. Blige.
Additionally, Edmonds has produced and written music for many artists including Carole King, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Faith Evans, Al Green, Beyoncé, Diana Ross, Sheena Easton, Toni Braxton, Michael Jackson, Michael Bolton, Paula Abdul, Eric Clapton, Pebbles, Tevin Campbell, Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston, Brandy, Mary J.
Babyface also collaborated with Foxes on her sophomore album, All I Need (2016), producing and co-writing "Scar".
In July 2016, Babyface along with Bruce Roberts and Carole Bayer Sager helped write the song, "Stronger Together" sung by Jessica Sanchez. The song was played after Hillary Clinton's speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The song's title is named after the slogan that the Clinton campaign uses as a show of uniting behind the Democratic nominee. The song was one of the top trending songs on Shazam that week. The song was widely perceived as positive by the listeners, and even received praise by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian.
Acting career and film producing
In 1994, he appeared and performed on an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 entitled "Mr. Walsh Goes to Washington (Part 2)".
In the mid-1990s, Edmonds and his then-wife Tracey Edmonds expanded into the business of motion pictures, setting up Edmonds Entertainment Group and producing films such as Soul Food (1997), Josie and the Pussycats (2001), and also the soundtrack for the film The Prince of Egypt (1998), which included contributions from numerous artists, including Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.
In 2007, Babyface began dating his backup dancer Nicole "Nikki" Pantenburg (former backup dancer for and personal friend of Janet Jackson). In 2008, Babyface and Nicole welcomed a daughter. The pair married on May 17, 2014.
In 2015, Babyface donated money to the presidential campaign of Republican Senator Marco Rubio.
