what makes minedai even sadder is that we never rlly see daigo try to build a bond with anyone else like he did with mine it rlly shows how badly it effected him like yeah he reached out to shinada in y5 but that’s rlly it and he probably would wanna leave him alone after that and not involve him in any yakuza stuff so i don’t think they would’ve hung out or anything like that afterwards. All he rlly had were saejima and majima but they were more like babysitters than anything, wish we saw more of their dynamic tho like we did with majima and daigo in dead souls since that was fun and we were lowkey robbed but in canon he’s just as lonely as he was before majimas promise to kiryu. And mine is the only person he really had a meaningful relationship with romantic or not they were still really close and we don’t see that again with daigo ever (from what i recall after y3) ok sorry for rambling LMFAO

even with shinada, he reached out to him more so out of 'duty' and trying to make up for the misfortune that befell him because of yakuza than wanting to rekindle any kind of friendship they might have had in high school (though it sounds more like they were just acquaintances if shinada needing a second to remember who daigo was is anything), so yah i doubt they really had any kind of bond afterwards

dead souls really was the only time after Y3 where we got to see daigo be more sociable with someone, but its as you say majima and saejima are more like retainers than close friends

Every so often I think about Lizzie in Last Life and how she just didn’t know what was going on, she didn’t understand.

Mostly everyone else had gone through the cycle already, they had an idea of what to expect and what things would or wouldn’t work, what you should or shouldn’t prioritize. Lizzie was operating blindly. She spent time making a ring of trees and a wooden house and that was her main base, and somehow she secured the allyship of Ren, BigB and Cleo, gained several extra lives from You Bet Your Life. She was doing alright actually

And then BigB happened. And Lizzie, unofficially the leader of that group, was trying so hard to keep her alliance together. She understood how it drives you mad being the boogeyman, how your heart pounds and your mouth is dry and your hands keep twitching towards a sword or a crossbow. She empathizes with Cleo, who had been betrayed by someone she trusted and cared about. Lizzie knew Cleo, but she didn’t know Cleo and couldn’t have known how the betrayal would wreck her trust with the whole alliance.

Then Cleo burns down Lizzie’s whole fort. And Lizzie and BigB move into Ren’s yard. And she’s got to keep going, keep quiet even when Ren invites Martyn to come replace Cleo and gives them silly nicknames like nothing ever happened.

And once she’s red, it’s not uncontained bloodlust, she has a specific hitlist. This time, the bloodlust is less frantic. It’s calmer, it lets her take her time and plan how to feed it.

Then she dies and she is still confused. She doesn’t know that Bdubs had made a deal with his old team, doesn’t know he’s got a life waiting for him if he takes hers. In her eyes, she was just murdered randomly.

Christopher Nolan making movies: I'm gonna make a film that is so confusing and non-linear

#just watched memento :DDDDD #which i think would be his first bigger movie? #but it was so interesting bcs there were a lot of concepts in it that are so visible in his later films #like watching that after watching almost all of his most recent films was such an 'aha!' moment #lthe whole black&white vs in-color to delineate which part of the story we're in #in memento: black and white is the beginning of the story and then in-color is the rest of the story going backwards #and then he uses that concept again in oppenheimer but b&w is the current events and color is everything leading up to that and after #like yeah its really confusing first time around because you dont know that fully yet but then at the end its like OH!!!!! #and then both also have other stuff interspersed btwn those two sections that you only reallly understand by the end #and then with the plot going backwards. that was the same as tenet right? #like starting with the end of the story and them ending with the beginning of the story #i cant remember inception well enough atm but im sure it has traits of memento as well #his movies are like puzzles ig! like you really have to keep track of all the details and what takes place when #i think theyre really fun bcs more and more becomes clear to you #im not sure what the most confusing nolan movie is hmmmm probably tenet or inception right? #oppenheimer: much more clear in general since its following literal historical events but just in a non linear manner #the only real reason i found it a bit confusing is bcs i didnt know a lot of the characters and also was trying to figure out the timeline #and then interstellar is more just confusing in concept bcs it has to do with time in the 4th dimension and all that #but i think the story is pretty understandable its just hard to wrap your head around the different time/dimension concepts #then again....ive watched it probably more than 4 times by now! Playing through Explorers of the Spirit and catching up to where I was... and I'm sorry I mean no disrespect, but it really comes across like the modder never got over their beef with chatot from 10 years ago and is using the opportunity in the game to vent about how much he sucks and why the guild is bad actually
