everytime i see the snow icey's name kátur im just like. as a swede who knows a bit icelandic and old norse that sure sounds like swedish kåt, which means horny.
looked it up now and it is indeed the same word etymologically! but unsurprisingly, the original meaning was happy/jolly and thats what kátur means.
but it will continue being the horny horse to me.

Istg Star Stable needs to do better with retrofitting. They keep releasing special event horses (and new horse breeds in general) and none of the outfits that come along with them fit them on their entirety. I got a Kátur last year which is the Icelandic model Winter horse that I absolutely adore, and none of the outfits I got from the Winter Village event (some of them were very hard to get due to me not being able to play as often as I'd like that time of the year) fit the model properly. In some cases the saddle pad was wrong, in others the bridle etc. And I just noticed that almost none of the outfit sets I've gotten from events and quests this past year fit this horse (or any other horse I have for that matter) in their entirety. A piece of the outfit is always not made for the models I own.

There are actually photos of the parents of Nefja's great-(and something)-grandpa but they don't have a birthday written down.
Left is Klói f. Sellátrum, right Pollý f. Keldum
And Kátur frá Keldum who ended up siring 53 puppies.

IDK if it's just me but I kinda don't like how it seems like the magic horses are 1 very specific character now instead of more of a breed if that makes any sense? With the older magic horses the breed's lore still allowed for you to make up your horse's personality, gender, backstory, etc. whereas now it seems like it's all being spoonfed to you. It also just kinda breaks the immersion since the lore for a lot of the recent ones acts like there's only one of that horse but you look around and there'll be like 20 people riding them. I still don't understand how Kátur is referred to as a singular horse but SSE chose to promote it by using an entire groupshot of them and has a bunch pulling every sleigh to the winter village at the same time

I'm going through the training footage of Yuki "Snow Storm" (Kátur) and they're a horse that cares not for jumps. Anytime they got "stuck" on one, they walk over it no problem...
Counter: 7
It's their special technique. Like how Zeno "Dragon Warrior" (palomino pintabian) kept coming to a complete stop and barely making it to the checkpoints or Apparition "Grey Ghost" (Grey friesian sport horse) getting stuck in one particular spot on the backwards winery race. Literally had no problems in that spot with any other horse but her!

Hello! Pet name anon, here. I should have clarified this better, but I meant names for pets. Dogs, cats, and the like.
Ahhh, sorry!
Some of the most stereotypical Icelandic names for pets would be something like...
- Dog names: Snati (Icelandic name of Snoopy), Tryggur, Kátur, Sámur, Vaskur or Lappi (masculine), Tobbi (masculine, Icelandic name of Tintin’s dog Snowy), Loppa or Skotta (feminine), Kolur or Skuggi (masculine, for a black dog), Flekkur (masculine, piebald), Doppa (feminine, for a spotted dog), Týra (feminine, for a dog with a white spot on her tail)
- Cat names: Keli, Klói or Snúður (masculine), Lóra, Nóra, Snotra or Snælda (feminine), Brandur/Branda (masculine/feminine, for a tabby cat)
There’s overlap with most of these (Snati is like The stereotypical Icelandic dog name, but I keep hearing of people naming their cats that). Of course, lots of pets just get regular people names, or silly names. My old cat was named Brandur, his mother was Snotra, and our new cat is called Birta.
