On the subject of Enneagram sources what do you think Katherine Faurve is the most or least accurate ? I listen to her on YouTube but she says she doesn’t like writing so I am not waiting for a book. Her talks are interesting but I’m not sure about some of it . Her take in the instincts are a little more mainstream than Chestnuts.
She's right about tritype, from what I've seen (she came up with it after all), and about the Enneagram types in general (especially common 6 traits) but her stuff on the instincts is pretty basic. She thinks sx is "one on one" (that's in the realm of social), so I don't think she's done extensive research into them. Mostly she works on selling tritype courses and professionally typing people.

479 – Gentle Spirit Archetype
479 - This is the sort of sprite or fairy like tritype. There is a need to remain positive while still searching for meaning. The blindspot is that there is an attraction to magical thinking and missed opportunities to speak their truth so they find themselves glossing over negative feeling states in favor of something more comfortable or positive. When 4 is in charge there's a tendency to not see all the ways in which depression or sadness is evaded through this magical thinking process.
the life mission is that this is the true healer archetype. They are often found doing bodywork or other healing practices as these are the 3 types that have a desire to transform. They like to inspire people toward happiness through expressing their creativity in a peaceful non-intrusive way.
She said this is the most lyrical type, a sort of ethereal archetype (so is the 459 but it is a more withdrawn ethereal quality, almost wispy and ghost like) whereas the energy here is lighter and more impish or I think when it's a male energy you get a strong trickster archetype (like dfgray). Playful yet meaningful. Very idealistic (although not quite as idealistic as the 471) but still concerned with maintaining positivity and feelings of being up.
She said this is the gentle soul tritype that has a healing presence on others whether or not they intend to so when she says healer this is what she means as opposed to being vocationally attracted to the healing arts (although this is very common with this tritype).
you are very identified with the defense of optimism and tend to hid your more painful feelings and pessimism for fear of being rejected. you see the wonder in beauty and are gentle, lyrical, and idealistic in the way you relate to others. you are attracted to the healing profession or arts.
your life mission is to identify what is truly meaningful in life and help people transform negative feeling into positive change. a true gentle spirit, you feel happiest when you have creative expression to reconnect with your innermost self and facilitate change.
your blind spot is that you can be so focused on ideal circumstances that you become trapped in magical thinking and fail to speak your higher truth and act in accordance with your true feelings.
your growing edge is to speak your truth even if it will create conflict with others. going along to get along or to keep things light and upbeat denies the truth of the moment and can cause you to become distant from yourself. higher love has a voice and true joy is not dependent on the image of being happy.
This tritype [927] is the most identified with seeing themselves as peaceful. More than any other tritype, they need peace and positive relating to experience a sense of being... so are extremely uncomfortable with negativity in relationships. The 479 doesn't like it but expects it.
4 and 7 together combine to create a sense of the creative, intuitive, magical and imaginative. The gut type determines the flavor. 479s are elegant, wispy and ethereal. When 4 is dominant the 4 is reluctant to show their edgy, more negative emotions. The emphasis is on having an image that is deep but not seen as difficult. Suffering is more private.
The 749 is the 7 that is the most elusive, liquid and fluid. They are positive in a gentle way with a touch of sadness. They are identified with being deep but still future oriented and forward moving whereas the 479 is identified with past and what is missing and believed to be of importance.
The 947 usually thinks that they are the 4 as they see life as bittersweet and feel deeply but they are not as intense as the 4 or as hungry for diversity and experience as the 7. The 947 and 974 seek harmonic resonance more than the the 479 or 794. They want depth and beauty but seek peace and tranquility more. They pine in a quiet gentle manner. They lack voltage...and struggle with naming their preferences in the face of adversity.
If you have the sexual instinct as dominant you could easily identify with 974. The 972 is less ethereal and more focused on being positive. The 974 knows that they feel unhappy, they are more inclined to hide so that they will not be rejected for being negative.
All of the 7-9 combinations are somewhat positive. The 279 is focused on being pleasant. The 379 the most positive. The 479 Is positive outwardly but doesn't always feel it.
The 479 report that they feat that if they show negative emotions they might be rejected.
The 479 with 4 dominant feels devastated by negative mirroring. If a flaw is pointed out if feels disheartening. With negative feedback, the 479 will have trouble holding on to their sense of self... Self esteem suffers as the 479's sense of self is too fluid and takes the shape of the last mirror.
For the most part, 479s like to be in the healing/helping professions where they have the opportunity to use their intuition and creativity.
The 471 and the 479 are both focused on the vision, creativity and the magical. The difference is in the gut center. The 471 has 3 types with access to 1, so are very critical of themselves and feel they must manifest the vision. The 479 is less strident and more soft-spoken and gentle. They are dreamers and intuit but can be shy about pushing to manifest.
9s fear being in conflict. 479 vs 469. Look at the level of confidence and optimism. The 7 brings a light touch with magical thinking, hoping for the best. In contrast, the 6 brings support and loyalty. Both are highly intuitive but the 469 has more doubts - The 479 is more future oriented, focusing on the possibilities. The 469 is more dutiful with a heavier heart, fearing that they can't make enough of a difference.
479 do not realize how healing their gentle nature can be. Your life mission is to identify what is truly meaningful in life and help people transform negative feeling into positive change.
The 479 is more inclined to side step, make nice, and try to get along as conflict feel unbearable.
If you are a 479, you are intuitive, innovative and accepting. You want to be original, positive and peaceful. You are very identified with the defense of optimism and tend to hide your more painful feelings and pessimism for fear of being rejected. You see the wonder in beauty and are gentle, lyrical and idealistic in the way you relate to others.
Inwardly they feel a lot of intensity, especially if they are the sexual instinct. identification is with gentleness and can feel uncomfortable if they share something negative.
479 and 379 I have deemed the "cool guy" tritypes. When 4 is there you get that sort of archetype of the cool artist, laid back, playful, witty, but with a sort of "hidden sorrow". You sense there is more there but that they are keeping you at bay in order to avoid dipping too much into the swamp.
7-4-9 (and the variations thereof) would have a goodly dose of magical thinking. Tending to overdose (in some form) on imagination and whim.
If you knew just how off-base the names 'Healer' and 'Gentle Spirit' are for the 9-4-7 tritype, and how slanted the name 'Ambassador' is for the 9-3-7 (or as you imply 9-4-7 with a very heavy Three wing), how pronounced the narcissistism and exhibitionism of these two tritypes can be, you might perhaps not be so eager to identify with them. Also, the challenge to feel grounded in the physical world, or at least in one's own physicality, is part of the Nine itself, not to mention the Four.
--'a more abandoning and erratic 9. An insatiable and emotionally discriminating 9.':
I'm 974 and others wouldn't describe me as 'erratic' (nor would I). I think 'abandoning and erratic' comes from your so/sx stack, which comes through as a loud note, to me, in your posts.
As for "insatiable and emotionally discriminating", I think this also taps your stack. Your so/sx-ness brings forward the more gregarious aspect of the 7 in your tritype, which manifests as a more-extroverted interplay with those in your presence - though I'm not saying you're an extrovert - there's just more desire for inclusion there. For me (sp/sx), the 7 in my tritype shows up more exclusively as "private mental fun", with only a small interest in "sharing the good times with y'all".
The 4 (in my tritype) shows up as a focus on aesthetics (including a pretty high degree of full-on snobbery in that area), plus life-long issues with depression and feelings of being valueless.
479 - Innovative and accepting 4. Most positive 4. May have defense of optimism hiding pessimism as sadness is hidden.
Also, both sevens and nines have a tendency to want to avoid dealing with negative situations for different reasons...with 7-9-4, I'd guess there would be a lot more denial than the usual 7, but with 4 in there it couldn't be kept up for as long, so there might be cycles of denial-and-crash. There would probably be more underlying self-doubt than is normally found in seven, as well as using the withdrawing defense a bit more.
Yeah, I think seven brings a mild denial through optimism...and then nines tend to get into a bit of denial, because of their desire to avoid conflict/upsetting their equilibrium, so if nine were one of your tritypes, you'd probably have a bit of the "optimistic denial" of 7, but a bit of the "I don't want to deal with this" denial of 9, as well. By contrast, an 8 tritype would probably be more of a sobering influence on the seven, and 1 would probably add a bit of criticality and increased perfectionism (also making for a triple frustration type, with the 4 and 7...but probably less likely due to what you said about the "live and let live" approach to people.)
(4)-7-9 - The Positive 4
4-(7)-9 - The Withdrawn 7
4-7-(9) - The idealistic 9
A dreamer in every sense of the word. They love to go on flights of imagination, and dream up fantasy worlds. They may often find themselves disappointed in the real world however.
974: intuitive and innovative 9. Most creative 9, especially with an 8 wing (i would think 1 wing here). Tends to be moody. Extraverted 7ish.
As a 9-4-7, I value emotion in a 4-ish way. But the valuing seems once-removed in relation to my 9-ness. It's a belief (about emotion), and though beliefs affect behavior and attitude, in the case of the secondary tritype elements, they're not as reflexive as the response from the primary type.
The 479 is more gentle...and more ethereal. The 479 displays congenial attitudes and hides their feelings of anger for fear of being rejected. The 469 is more phobic than the 468. The 479 seems more easy going as they are more conflict-avoidant. They can demonstrate the outbursts of the sexual 4 when there is a threat to intimacy but feel terrible shame as their identity is built around being gentle and kind. The 468 feels more inclined to be the truth teller at all costs so they take greater risks.

The Researcher Archetype (145) - Part1
It's been a long time since I've been studying the Enneagram and its tritypes. But I find few references about the variations of certain tritypes, particularly the "The Researcher" type. Some of the references I find are on the Personality Database Wiki and Personality Cafe, as well as Katherine Fauvre's official website. I'll break it down into parts to make it more accessible. If you can share your experience through this post or by tagging me, I would be delighted.
■■■
"Tritype® 145, 154, 415, 451, 514, 541-The Researcher If you are a 145, you are diligent, intuitive, and knowledgeable. You want to be ethical, original, and wise. Highly intellectual, you are focused on what you perceive is correct and above reproach. Motivated to be informed, you are research-oriented. You seek and quote the opinions of experts to avoid being uncertain and seen as ignorant. You like to learn and will deeply study whatever captures your interest."
-Katerine Fauvre
________
[Personality Database Wiki]:
1+4: The Humanist
Double frustration.
Enhances the natural line of connection to ONE and FOUR.
Pairing that is the most focused on refining their ideals, pursuing higher standards.
Whatever the instinctual stacking or the head type, there is a strong push toward what is considered tasteful, decent and grotesque, vulgar.
Want to bring its intuition and imagination front and center but with certain standards and guidelines.
This is a very persnickety and particular pairing that needs to do things a certain way, even when it isn’t practical.
Subtle (or not so subtle) disdain for what is considered subpar, plain, normal or mediocre.
They are often hard to truly please and are even very critical of themselves.
Conflictual relationship with their emotions: refrain from feeling, then let go.
Wants to experience life in all its depth and glory, but the ONE fix wants to keep that within certain rules and boundaries of decency.
May cultivate spiritual and/or religious outlook on life.
Can bring out new standards of excellence, unparalleled visions of beauty.
Can be attached to certain aspects of art and/or culture.
Often quite philosophical and adamant about setting certain standards.
In very low levels of health may run the risk of emotional and mental exhaustion by restricting themselves from continuously harsh standards.
May unintendedly castrate their own emotional experience by repeated superego blockage.
Invertedly, may also sabotage their ability to think critically and rationally with their emotional tidal waves.
The 4 fix helps the core 1 to experience life through a more intuitive and spiritual way so to search for meaning.
The 1 fix helps the core 4 to bring structure and order in its emotional musings and bring out its internal desires to fruition.
1+5: The Rational
Double competency.
Pairing that is the most focused on accuracy and scientific methods of reasoning.
Most cerebral combination.
Usually display tastes for intellectual pursuits and a deep hunger for knowledge.
Not easily satisfied with the superficial answers; knows what and how to search for them.
Usually very focused mind that can home in on what to extract from books and sources of information.
Can give extremely detailed and structured information about a subject that they have studied.
Probably one of the most aloof and emotionally distant pairing there is. A TWO wing or fix can help alleviate that tendency.
Very curious mind. They want to know everything that something or someone has to offer.
There is always an effort to be exhaustive and precise in their speech while avoiding rambling if possible.
Pairing that is the most uncomfortable with superficial chat and can be awkward in social situations.
It’s hard for them to let go of the formalities and be more open-minded for one.
They can be stuck with their way of thinking and not welcome new situations because of this.
Can be frustrated by the lack of standards and in-depth knowledge that others cannot display.
Can be easily seen by others as know-it-alls, since they like to correct people on having accurate information.
This pairing can suffer from mental exhaustion because of the level of accuracy and methodical search that they abide by on a daily basis.
The 5 fix helps the core 1 to withhold judgment before complete exhaustivity and having a more objective outlook on a subject.
The 1 fix helps the core 5 weighing which information is worthful or not and become more structured in its analysis.
4+5: The Introspective
Double withdrawn.
Paring that is the most introspective and focused on its inner life.
Enhances the natural wings of FOUR and FIVE.
This is the deep divers of their own personal abyss.
People with this pairing are deep thinkers and feelers.
Often feel like a drop in the ocean, like they could be easily swallowed by the outside world.
Feel tired very quickly when interacting with people, especially in new environment.
Genuinely feel different and separate from the crowd.
Generally, prefer written communication over spoken one.
Seek depth in everything and often cannot tolerate daily conversations because of this.
Often engrossed in interests far more than other pairings.
They have a hard time communicating their feelings if they are caught up in them.
Often have a capacity for forming mental maps in which they can intuitively navigate.
Seek beauty and authenticity in the pursuit of knowledge.
Often have odd or unusual interests.
Can be shut ins and live in their own fantasy realm.
Can be emotionally moved and not overtly showing it at all.
Often have a hidden self that very few people are aware of.
Want to be known for their artistic complexity and ingenuity.
It can take them enormous amount of time to produce something because they always prioritize quality over quantity.
Feelings can be a source of anxiety, but they still want to experience them.
Often amass vast amount of knowledge and are often wise beyond their years.
The 5 fix helps the core 4 seek out logical causes to their feelings of inferiority and pursue intellectual hobbies.
The 4 fix helps the core 5 break out of the cerebral mindset and allow intuitive and emotional depth to seep into the self.

The Extended Animix Tritype Theory of Enneagram v. 0.1
(Disclaimer: this is still pretty rough and ideas and content and are likely to change a lot)
This is an extension of the Tritype Enneagram theory created by Katherine Fauvre which identifies an archetype based off of an ordering of an Enneagram type in each of the heart, mind and gut centers of intelligence. I aim to capture dynamics of interpersonal compatibility and the relationship to the Intimate Other. The Intimate Other is not a singular person but that which both feels alien to oneself and contains a sense of wholeness. I built this framework from inspiration from Jungian psychoanalytic theory and other eclectic sources. The following description assumes people already have a firm grasp on Enneagram and Tritype theory. In the rest of this post I will be using "Dual Type" as a term to refer to one's single ideal complementary Enneagram type match, and "Tritype Dual" for one's ideal complementary Tritype match. A "valued type" is that one that shows up in ones extended typing. Wings can lead to quasi-valuing a type.
Animix is a term I coined as a gender expansive alternative for the Jungian Anima/Animus. It originally was framed as the archetype of all that which is the opposite binary gender in a person. Described as having a compensatory relationship with the persona, it serves as the connection from the Ego to the personal and collective subconscious. It can be a source of great spiritual and cognitive inspiration and fortitude.  When people come into conscious relation with it, it is often a source of profound balance and wholeness. I reinterpret Animix to refer to a gender expansive Intimate Other, rather than assigning certain traits as feminine or masculine. The Intimate Other is that which one has felt they have always known, but is mysterious and set apart.
There have been many attempts to describe patterns of Enneagram compatibility. Most of what I have seen describe types having unique dynamics with other types but not extensive recommendations of which are more or less complementary. Though this may be true in terms of there being no universal optimums for a single type, on an individual level people do have strong preferences. And these preferences are more than external taste, they form an organizing axis within that person in which much of their sense of wholeness and core motivations in relation to the world lay.
Typing Framework
An exploratory framework for Animix extended typing has people freely rank the types they're attracted to energetically within themselves and others. This is done within two different variables. The first being Synchrony this is perceived internally as a feeling of a calm, smooth distribution and intensity of expectations across time. The second being Activation as a feeling of energy, arousal, and potentiation. A high amount of both Synchrony and Activation with another person's fixes is what helps create a foundation for an engaging, stable, and pleasant connection.
A concise typing has people identify a single fix for each center.
For example my exploratory Animix extended typing is from most to least resonant:
Animix Head Synchrony: 7w6, 5w6, 6w7, 6w5, 7w8, 5w4
Animix Head Activation: 7w6, 7w8, 6w7, 6w5, 5w6, 5w4
Animix Heart Synchrony: 3w4, 2w1, 2w3, 4w5, 4w3, 3w2,
Animix Heart Activation: 3w4, 3w2, 4w5, 4w3, 2w1, 2w3
Animix Gut Synchrony: 8w9, 1w9, 9w1, 1w2, 9w8, 8w7
Animix Gut Activation: 8w9, 8w7, 1w2, 1w9, 9w8, 9w1
My concise Animix Extended Tritype typing is:
6w7 2w3 1w9 7w6 3w4 8w9
My Animix Dual Ttype would be
8w9 3w4 7w6 1w9 2w3 6w7
The below section has guidelines to help explore Synchrony and Activation.
Synchrony, Activation and Wings
I operate off the basis that people have a particular wing in each fix. Wings serve as differentiation about energetic and narrative directionality. This extends to one's Animix Tritype fixes as well. A person having the non preferred wing is experienced as complementarity activating but unpleasantly dyssynchronous. If there is another type with the same wing as the Animix fix, e.g 1w9 and 8w9, it is seen as pleasantly synchronous but less complementarity activating. The adjacent type with reversed type and wing may also be perceived as alluring but somewhat peculiar and also asynchronous e.g 2w3 and 3w2. I'm currently unsure how types like 4w5 at the edge of a center fit within this to lacking one of the adjacent types most types have.
Which of the Hornevian Groups a wing belongs to also influences synchrony. A similar Hornevian Trend to the core type(compliant being more similar to aggressive than withdrawn) or similar direction of difference between the main type and the wing can lead to potentially more synchrony.
The two examples below are the same direction of difference. Hornevian Trends of away and against being opposites and Towards being in-between.
Compliant -> Withdrawn
Aggressive -> Withdrawn
People who possess the same fix may be perceived in a sibling-like manner. That is to say a diffused connection, and familiar with shared values.
The closer the Hornevian group a core type belongs to compared with a valued(especially Animix fix) type the more activating a type may be.
Fixes
There are correlations but no rules for which types people have as Animix fixes.
However, the Tritype fix ordering for the Animix Tritype are reversed. For example if your ordering is head-heart-gut, your Animix Tritype ordering will be gut-heart-head.
The tertiary fix tends to be somatically experienced as alien and energetically easily dispersed. Resonance with energy of the dual type of that complementary center, whether it be from personal activities or connection with others, can elicit a sense of vibrant awe-inspiring wholeness. This sense of resonance with underactivated parts of oneself extends to all types of complementary center.
Animix fixes can be homogeneous with ones Ego fixes, i.e. same types in each center. They may also be heterogeneous and drastically different. It is interesting to explore why Enneagram may allow for homogeneous or heterogeneous complementary pairs unlike other personality systems like Attitudinal Psyche or Socionics. I suspect this is because Enneagram describes flows and transformations of narrative. This is in contrast to other typology systems being lopsided, symmetric, functional units that require particular responses mechanically for effective allostasis.
Dimensionality
The fixes are ordered and can be referred to as by their numeric ordering, and borrowing a concept from Socionics(https://wikisocion.github.io/content/dimensionality.html) have the following dimensional strengths
As conscious structuring of ones one core motivations:
Primary: 4d
Secondary: 3d
Tertiary: 2d
As unconscious structuring of compensatory, idealized, and Intimate Other archetypes
Quarternary: 3d
Quinary: 2d
Senary: 1d
In the case that one's ego types and ones animix types are the same it is important to recognize dimensionality is directed towards consciousness and particulars in one's Ego fixes, and in one's Animix fixes, the personal and collective unconsciousness and archetypes.
Conclusion
Despite requiring some baseline knowledge about Enneagram, it's a worthy practice to type oneself in this theory fairly early on in one's Enneagram exploration journey. Beyond interpersonal compatibility, it has a lot of uses for spiritual and psychological empowerment. It may make sense to leave wings until one has a firm grasp on the system. If people don't find it intuitive it may make sense to focus on getting a stronger grasp of the core types and their own and other's Tritypes.
There is a requisite amount of necessary life exploration and  personal growth to be able to type oneself in this system. A lot of people are attracted towards types that they associate with pain and frustration because of traumatic or disempowering life experiences. Rather than ideally typing based off of what feels enlivening. Conversely positive experiences with people where compatibility is socially situational or in context of other fixes, compatible neurodivergence, or other personality types also skews a sense of affinity with a type.
I hope people find this framework helpful for personal reflection and I'm eager to hear thoughts or relevant experiences others may have ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

Preface for my enneagram introductions!!
Before I start posting my enneagram summaries, I think it is important to explain some basics. While I assume most people who are interested in enneagram may know many of these already, my summaries were mostly made to introduce people to the system. I want to specifically emphasise that my summaries shouldn’t be used to concretely type yourself, using my summaries you might be able to rule out some options, but I strongly recommend you to read “The Complete Enneagram” by Beatrice Chestnut in order to type yourself properly.
The first thing I want to discuss are contradictions, specifically those with mbti and jung. I will be including contradictory, compatible and debatable types under my posts. Like it or not, but most, if not all, enneagram authors have compared functions and enneatypes. At the end of the day typology discusses our cognitive preferences, you can’t do something and not do it at the same time.
The next thing I want to mention is that wings are essentially useless. They’re not part of any official theory, and are not needed if you want to use enneagram purely for self discovery. Of course, they can be fun, but they’re not essential.
Trifix, or its more common name, tritype, are a better substitute. The three triads all discuss a different centre. These being gut (type 891, also related to anger, the body, physicality), head (type 567, also related to fear, rationalisation, intellect), heart (type 234, also related to emotionality, attention, sensitivity). I will be discussing trifix whenever I mention it going forward, because I don't trust Katherine Fauvre purely for typing herself as an entp 8. When typing yourself in trifix, you will purely focus on the fixation. This is because it's the most important part of a type. Trifix also has a set order for types to be in, if you’re a heart type core, the order will be heart-head-gut. If you’re a head type the order goes head-gut-heart, and gut type goes gut-heart-head.
The next important thing is instinctual variants, or simply subtypes. Each core type has 3 subtypes, these are self-preservation, sexual and social. The way these function is different for each type, but are always related back to the core idea of these three points. I will also be providing short summaries to these subtypes.
I will most likely start with e2 later today, considering this is the first type in the first triad.

Intro to Enneagram Series
Part 3 • Before Beginning
Watch this Intro Video by Abbey Howe on YouTube:
If I Was Learning about the Enneagram in 2023, This is What I Would Do
To frame your mind before beginning your journey.
A special note to INFPs specifically (from a fellow INFP):
I knew of the enneagram for at least four years before I actually sat down to learn it. Within those 4 years, I thought I was a 9 (the Peacemaker), because of how terrified I was of conflict. I decided I was a 9 based on a short quiz and reading very brief descriptions of each of the types. I didn’t do anything after that, just went about my life believing I was a 9.
Once I started getting into MBTI more, I slowly started to get into the enneagram more too. I took the Tritype test by Katherine Fauvre (cool concept of a test, but I do not believe there is a test out there that can accurately identify your type.) The test told me I was actually a 7, and I assumed I was because I sought good vibes and liked colorful things. Again, a very shallow take on what makes someone a certain type.
Now, why am I addressing INFPs specifically? Well, around the same time I decided I was a type 7, I had learned that most INFPs were type 4s. Possibly one of the most type 4 things I’ve done during my self discovery journey was that I thought it was so cool and unique that I was an INFP with a 7 enneagram type, as that type matchup rarely happens, so that made me want to be a 7 even more. If you know anything about type 4s, you’ll know exactly why this is so hilarious. If you don’t, you’ll learn about all the types in your journey and laugh with me later. So, yeah. I’m a type 4.
So, INFPs, it is very likely you are a 4, BUT, do not assume you are a 4 just because you are an INFP. For those 4s like me who strive for uniqueness, sometimes it’s okay to be like other people. Once I accepted that I was an average INFP 4w5, I actually felt a sense of belonging. And even if you are an INFP 4w5, you are still your own special and unique person. We are all multifaceted and these labels only make-up a small part of who we are.

Hello INTJ again. Thank you for your answer, it really helped a lot. [...]
I can see why and how I might actually have a 3 as the 2nd fix or core. I've always cared about my image and reputation, so I've always been careful not to ruin it…i even remember freaking out once over possibly incomplete homework and getting a mark for that since I had a clean record and didn't want to hurt it. I was worried about the other kids seeing me as irresponsible and not as diligent and/or organized as I always try to appear. I always did my best to be in the top ranks in class, even when it came to things I didn't like (e.g p.e. Hated running but i still tried to be the first few kids to finish the laps lol). I do like being appreciated for my accomplishments and skills e.g creativity, my art. Art has been a passion of mine since I was young and being recognized for my skills has always been an important goal for me. I have had my art displayed in art galleries a few times and it was nice to see people admiring my work. I want to be the best artist I can be and am constantly trying to improve my technique and style. Idk how I didn't realize this before actually lol
Yeah, you might try on the idea of being a core 3 for size and see if it fits for a while. Plus, they disintegrate into 9 and some of your recent depression might be 9ish behaviors (giving up, apathy, lack of intense motivation). You seem to enjoy being the center of attention more than a 5-3 would (they want you to discover them, but for some deep/provocative idea, and they won't be 'out there' in the social realm as much; I don't know if you watched that 5 video I linked to a while with the girl named Jesse, but she is a 583 and has a "if you can find my art, good for you, because I lurk and am anonymous and don't connect" thing going on, since she's so secretive / 5ish).
Regarding your tritype... to be honest, put that aside and come back to it later. You don't need to know that now, it's going to change nothing about your life, it will distract you from finding your core and starting to unpack and deal with your coping mechanisms. So just focus on 3 for a while and see if it fits.
Regarding Katherine Fauvre's test... it's not awful, but it's not accurate either. I ALWAYS type 694 or 614 on it and am neither. It's best to buy a good Enneagram book (I recommend Richard Rohr, he's more straightforward and less confusing than most), assume you only get one type and wing, and go from there. :)

Enneagram Instinctual Variant & Pair Bonding: Interrelationship of Instinctual Drives
(c) 1996 Katherine Chernick-Fauvre A noteworthy point of interest with respect to the Enneagram Instinctual Subtypes is that the dominant instinctual drive (self-preserving, social or sexual) will shift to the other two subtypes as needed to ensure its influential role in this trialectic instinctual system. The way in which the dominant subtype employs the other two appears to be very specific and predictable. The dominant drive maintains the role of the commander in chief and the other two are channeled through its lens. Generally, this is very primal and often unconscious. This is especially apparent with respect to the human drive to seek a mate and pair bonding, but applies to all areas of life. If a relationship displays conflicting instinctual needs the dominant drive perceives it as a threat to security and acts accordingly. Confusion about the manner in which the instinctual drives manifest to create and maintain a sense of security is often the root of misunderstandings. Such disturbances in the instinctual drive are often the catalyst for seeking counsel or therapy. Self-preserving moves to Sexual For example, the self preserving subtype considers a mate as an essential need to maintain and insure security. Therefore, when in search of a mate the self-preserving subtype will feel anxiety and suspense until a mate is secured. In order to attract a mate, the self-preserving subtype will shift to their respective sexual instinctual drive to accommodate this fear. Outwardly the self-preserving subtype will behave like the sexual subtype, pay more attention to their desirability and will be sensual or flirtatious. At first, the self-preserving subtype will spend more time one on more with the possible mate. Once the mate is secured, the self-preserving subtype will return to basic routines that ideally would include the mate. An area of pain and disappointment for this subtype is when they have a mate that is unwilling to pay attention to issues of security and disrupt their need for inner calm. Social moves to Self-Preserving The social subtype will think in terms more indicative of the self-preserving subtype when selecting a mate. This is very important to insure the desired security that rank and social status can provide. The social subtype seeks a mate with a shared social vision and similar values. This is necessary to fulfill the desire for a mate that will join them in their activities. Therefore, a secure social position is essential. Much attention is paid to the potential mate's connections, rank and ability to provide financial security. This subtype enjoys bringing others together, feeling that 'the more the merrier'. They are often adept at creating the center stage and often use their home for social events, gatherings and causes. At first the social subtype will spend more time one on one with the potential mate. Once the mate is in place, the social subtype will return to outside interests, groups and/or activities, ideally, this is with their mate. An area of pain and disappointment for this subtype is when they have a mate that is unwilling to pay attention to their need for people, activities, causes and unwilling to share their interest in others. Sexual moves to Social The sexual subtype (one on one) will seek the greater world or social arena to find a desired mate. The sexual subtype is normally happy tucked away in a secluded setting with one significant other. However, when alone or in search of a mate, this subtype will behave much more like the social subtype. One must be with others to find 'the other'. Once the mate is selected, the social activity will be replaced by the dominant drive for time spent in union with the other one on one. At first the sexual subtype may spend time with the potential mate in the company of others. They become a pair even in groups. Then when the passion for deeper connection is ignited the sexual subtype will want to bond totally with their desired other. When the mate is determined, the sexual subtype will return to one on one style of relating. Ideally, this is intense time spent with the desired other or mate. An area of pain and disappointment for this subtype is when they have a mate that is unwilling to pay attention to their degree of connection and intimately share their deepest and innermost thoughts."

The End of Tritype
Tritype is bullshit. The end. Okay you need an explanation fine. It’s lazy. It’s just stopping at assigning numbers to yourself instead of actually exploring your issues which is what enneagram is for. Every time I bring this up the 459 inevitably comes up. Along with 458 the most self-identified tritype online and coincidentally the one that’s the most bullshit. You see the 459 integrates into every single number on the enneagram. It’s amazing how many people continue to support tritype after I point this out. By the way it’s almost inevitably “4 fixes” who like tritype so much. Apparently 4 means having an identity. Let me get further into the 459 actually. We know why the 4 is there. Tritypes are always based on a shallow understanding of each number, something along the lines of this: 1 - has morals 2 - likes helping people 3 - likes success/attention 4 - has a unique identity 5 - likes research 6 - anxiety 7 - likes fun 8 - not a pussy 9 - nice So not only does this mysterious 4 have an identity complex they also have an inferiority complex related to their intelligence. They need this second number in their tritype to explain that they’re smart too, they’re not just a whiny lazy incompetent 459, the most withdrawn and useless of all tritypes if there were such thing. And the 9 is usually just a half-assed last addition to complete the tritype because 8 and 1 are too angry or something. Alright so now I can dissect the 459 and figure out which type they actually are and why they feel a need to have two other numbers to explain them. Assuming it’s one of these three types. 4w5 and 5w4 are the most obvious choices for this type since they include two numbers. As mentioned both are withdrawn so would identify to some extent with 9. 4w5 and 5w4 both love research and identity (see above, lol) so it makes sense they’d need some complex system to explain their super complicated personalities. 9 identifying with 4 is weird though. Because 9 has no identity or preferences. I mean they do but they’re buried pretty deep. And 4 is all about their uniqueness. If you find a 9 who thinks they’re a 459 they’re just lying to themselves. Anyway point being. All tritypes can be explained if you just bother to dig a little deeper. But I didn’t finish. After I make my point the argument ALWAYS devolves into “well healthy people do have all the numbers in them.” DO YOU REALIZE THIS DEFEATS THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF THE SYSTEM? God damn. I hate internet people. So this whole system was created by a student of the original Enneagram founders as a way to make money through personal growth seminars and other bullshit people wanna pay for to pretend to be enlightened. And the internet got a hold of it and now because it has such a presence on legitimate websites like personalitycafe (deep sarcasm) it’s seen as legitimate itself. She takes the characteristics of each number in the tritype and combines all the traits into a horoscope that makes everyone feel happy and inspired and special and every tritype gets a special name like The Mover And Shaker. And everyone in the room feels important and masturbates and has a happy time. Why is this frustrating enough that I had to write a post on it? Well for one I hate people on the internet. They think they know everything. Someone needs to tell them they’re wrong and I don’t have time to do that on an individual basis. But mainly I don’t like the spread of misinformation. Especially when this could be such a useful tool for growth. Enneagram helped me understand a lot about myself when I finally figured out my type which took years. People just put self discovery on hold and add stupid numbers in its place. Oh well instead of exploring why I’m so fucking needy I’ll just label myself a 728 because 2s like helping people. No actually it could be because you have social instinct plus control issues related to 7 disintegration to 1. Ok I think I got everything out. Don’t use tritype.

Communication Style by Type
Communication and the lexicon of the Enneagram type’s is fascinating. Our ongoing research has revealed what Katherine Fauvre’s 1994 Enneastyle research found: people of the same enneagram type utilize the same adjectives, phrases, word combinations, favorite sayings, symbolism and metaphors to describe themselves. The combination of the persons lexicon reveals their primary type, tritype, instinctual subtype and wings. Aside from the actual words that the types themselves use the way they talk in is extremely important. The style or flavor of communication can reveal just as much about someone’s potential type as the language itself. By characterizing the type’s language and communication style we can begin to gain greater accuracy in recognizing the type. Of course when characterizing talk style it’s important to think about context and audience. We recommend thinking about talk/communication style in relatively comfortable situations as it will reveal the more authentic talk style. Although you can observe aspects of talk style at someone’s job of a specific performative situation you just have to reserve that some of the content will be specifically focused toward that job or role and could look like another type. Interpersonal relationships reveal the communication style the best.
Teaching, preaching, mentoring, pontificating, criticizing, correcting, appropriate, polite, affectionate, declaiming, parental, judging, reasonable, patrician, irritable.
Helping, effusive, relationship-focused, complimenting, flattering, bossy, managerial, supportive, seductive, sentimental, nurturing, demanding, manipulating, superficial.
Expedient, competent, professional, bragging, socially appropriate, rehearsed, smooth, charming, inspiring, coaching, task-focused, proficient, dazzling, artificial, Pollyanna
Breathy, lamenting, sarcastic, cynical, intellectual, analyzing, specializing, haughty, symbolic, shy, reactive, quipping, elegant, complaining, contrary, metaphorical
Technical, knowledgeable, quiet, self-contained, idiosyncratic, unemotional, rational, professing, dry, frenetic, high-strung, provocative, philosophical, scientific
Tentative, qualifying, provocative, testing, argumentative, anxious, warm, rebellious, questioning, funny, skeptical, cross-examining, friendly, bantering, teasing, complaining, contrary, catastrophizing
Fast, entertaining, storytelling, captivating, charming, intellectual, evasive, arrogant, flippant, future-oriented, generalized, excited, sophisticated, joking, performing, exaggerating
Brash, strident, definite, unemotional, matter of fact, impactful, empowering, intimidating, deadpan, firm, jolly, rabble-rousing, commanding, demanding, clipped, challenging, insensitive, few-words/high impact
Agreeable, accommodating, receptive, rambling, diplomatic, mediating, diffuse, dreamy, non-specific, stubborn, unconvinced, easy, relatable, sentimental, quietly-intellectual, slow-paced, simplistic, un-focused, unaffected

hi, i have three questions:
1) where did you learn about all the typo stuff? i am new to this hell and you seem reliable and honest;
2) how does visual typing works? how do you type someone even based on their blogs vibe? it's fascinating;
3) how old should one be to be typed?
that's all, thank you if you decide to answer 💫
1) i've been into typology for a good decade now, i don't even remember where i got all my knowledge from anymore. once you get the basics down, you observe the people around you more and read less theory anyway
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
it was developed by Isabel Myers and her mother Katherine Briggs based on their work with Carl Jung's theory of personality types and tries to offer an explanation on how people of different types process information and make decisions differently. since i'm way too lazy to actually explain this theory in detail, i'm just gonna refer you to Em's crash course here. on that note, also check out her posts where she contrasts the different functions. i like her explanations because, unlike other sources, they aren't accidentally mixed with enneagram theory
Enneagram
it attempts to explain people's personality by identifying core fears/desires. Riso & Hudson are pretty solid and you can check out their website
the only thing i'm missing there is the distinction between phobic (p) and counterphobic (cp) 6. the theory goes that since 6's core fear is fear itself, 6 has come up with two different strategies to deal with it: either by running (phobic) or by "confronting" (counterphobic)
there exists also the tritype theory by Fauvre which i - more or less - subscribe to so i'm gonna link to her website too
don't bother with anything related to Chestnut or Naranjo. they don't offer anything of substantial worth to the discussion and their books are only good for kindling
Instinctual Variant (IV)
another tool to type people, the enneagram institute site i linked to also talks about the three instincts briefly. iv is usually the aspect of typology people grapple the most with because the descriptions are pretty vague because they try to sort people into only six categories. i still have an anon sitting in my inbox asking about my definitions so you can watch out for whenever i find the time to answer that ask. in the meantime you can go through my #iv tag. i also have tons of other good resources saved in my likes that i will try to reblog in the coming days (the pain of having to go thru 8.000+ likes tho, rip)
to wrap this up, all tests suck and anyone who calls themself a "typology expert" and demands money is trash. instead i'll recommend you some blogs who are actually reliable sources and know what they are talking about
@istj-hedonist Marri, an ISTJ with excellent use of dom Si. she offers good insights, nice aesthetics, as well as visual typing information
@ill-be-istj-if-no-one-else-is Em, another ISTJ. she offers to type people via a description. her dom Si does a solid job at identifying people's type
@mbtiguy-archive Sarah, an ESTP who is inactive, but her archive is still around. her dom Se offered some really good observations and she was also pro typing by ~vibes~
2) visual typing works on the assumption that people with the same personality type have the same physical features. while there have already been past attempts by other people to identify these traits, Marri is the one who actually offered a clear and comprehensive guide on what to look for. you can go through her #visual typing tag for more information
typing based on vibes operates on pretty much the same principle. people of the same personality type have the same kind of... vibe/air/feel/temperament/whatever you wanna call it, to them and you can tell that pretty well in person, but it also works on tumblr because of its nature. people of different types are drawn to different aesthetics, relate to different posts, and word themself in a specific way that you can pinpoint to a certain type
typing based on visual cues/vibes is pretty much just either Si recognising a pattern or Se excelling at reading people
3) if you're talking traditional typing à la self-typing based on understanding the theory, reading up on functions, identifying behavioural patterns, etc. i'd say it's best to type yourself once your brain has fully developed (~25) and you are recognised as an adult. it's infinitely more valuable that you actually experience life, work through your issues, improve your skills, and do some introspection in order to develop as a person outside of typology. the nerd stuff can definitely wait
however if you are talking about at which age you can reliably visual type, that's different. i think that one is born with their mbti type and first instinct, so you can already type toddlers if you want to. the second instinct probably develops somewhere around your pre-teens and is (mostly) dependent on your environment. as for the ennea core, i'd say it's a mix of nature and nurture. depending on your mbti/natural disposition and the sort of environment you grow up in. it probably develops roughly around the same time your second instinct forms. also, if you buy into tritype theory, you have to consider that certain fixes will be more prominent at certain stages. an easy and obvious example is the heart-fix. when you are a teenager, you will be mostly preoccupied with your image/issues involving shame. for that reason i wouldn't type anyone who is still in their teenage years because the heart-fix will be naturally more prominent and might be mistaken as the core when it's maybe not
