GX Month Week 2: Prompt 2: AUs and Crossovers

SUPER DANGANRONPA GX LETS GOOOOOOOOOO

I’m glad @gxmonth gave me the perfect opportunity/excuse to do this!! I may have rushed it because I couldn't be bothered writing the whole trial

Tw: strangulation, suffocation

I looked at the group as we resumed our positions in the class trial room. The room seemed so much smaller now because of everyone we lost…

Jim, Chumley, Axel, Sartorius, Blair, Atticus, Zane… all of them were gone with nothing but the grim portraits at the podiums as a reminder of their deaths…

And now Hassleberry’s was among them.

Tyranno Hassleberry. A close friend and a source of strength and positivity for everyone was found dead on the floor of the fun house.

No one was more devastated than Syrus. Hassleberry had been a constant support to him after Zane’s execution. So to see Syrus cradling Hassleberry in his arms and begging him to wake up was devastating…

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t devastated either. I was close to doing the same as Syrus. Hassleberry was like a younger brother to me but… now like everyone else… he was gone…

“Jaden” I snapped to reality and looked to see Jesse’s hand on my shoulder.

“The trials about to start…”

I sighed and nodded.

The trial proceeded as it did three times before. But I noticed something had to be off. It was clear that Hassleberry died from suffocating. But the question was how.

“We have to guess there was a struggle right? Judging by the fact there seems to be skin under her nails.” Alexis thought out loud.

Bastion nodded “true. To cause strangulation like this, a throat punch would have to be well calculated…”

That set me off. “Wait a second Bastion… no one said anything about a punch…”

With that Bastion froze, the colour draining from his face as he realised his fuck up.

Chazz slammed the edge of his stand and glared at Bastion. “Bastion did you have something to do with this!? Do you know how Huckleberry died!?”

Bastion seemed to hesitate as if choosing his words carefully. “Even if I had done it there’s no explanation as to How Hassleberry’s body got from the Strawberry house to the Grape House. You still don’t have an explanation for that…”

We all went quiet. That was true. How did Hassleberry’s body get to the Grape House?

That’s when Yubel spoke up, adjusting their purple hair. “I think you’re all forgetting a vital clue!”

I felt the energy shoot out of my body as I made the same realisation “The damaged button in the strawberry room.”

“Wait I think I see where this is going…” Aster mumbled. “If the Halls in both Strawberry House and Grape House are connected, then it would be easy for Hassleberry’s body to be moved”

“The halls aren’t just connected!” Syrus gasped as he caught on too. “They are the exact same room!”

I finally understood “ Let’s start this case from the very beginning…

MonoKuriboh gave us the motive that if we wanted to leave the funhouse we had to kill each other or starve to death.

We assumed that we unanimously agreed that we would all band together and starve to death to prevent any more killings. But Hassleberry and/or the Killer disagreed.

We can’t say for sure what happened, but That night, Hassleberry and the killer fought in the Hallway of the Strawberry House.

Hassleberry had the upper hand and tried to strangle the killer. But what he didn’t expect the killer to do was to give him a hard punch to his neck, crushing his windpipe and killing him.

The killer then knew he had to hide the body before the others sleeping in the Strawberry house woke up.

He had to have known that the grand hall was secretly connected to Grape House so he decided to hide the body there.

After dumping Hassleberry in the “strawberry hall” he destroyed the button opening the door, meaning no one would figure out the trick to the grand hall and confuse everyone as to how Hassleberry got into the grape house and pin the suspicion on someone else…

There’s only one person who would be able to make a punch that is that calculated… let alone work out the secret of the hall

Bastion Misawa… I don’t think the killer could be anyone other than you…”

Bastion was silent for a moment before slowly bringing his hands together for w steady, hollow clap. “So you figured me out… well done Jaden good show…”

We all just stared at him. Silent.

Alexis could barely bring herself to speak “Bastion… why did you do it!? I thought out of everyone you would have the common sense to not play this game!!”

I could hear the heartbreak in her voice. First her brother and now her best friend.

Syrus slammed his fists on the stand. “Why Bastion!! Why!! How could you take Hassleberry away from me like that!!”

Bastion crossed his arms as he often did when he was thinking or tense and closed his eyes as if choosing his words carefully.

“Why was a simple matter. Hassleberry and I agreed we did not want things to end the way they could have…”

“What the heck is that supposed to mean!?“ Chazz asked confused.

“Did you honestly think Hassleberry would stand by and watch everyone he cared about starve to death when he could do something about it?” Bastion glared.

Syrus faltered at that “you mean…”

“Hassleberry and I may not have seen eye to eye on most things but we could agree that we couldn’t sit around and watch someone we loved die… so we decided if we had to be on the chopping blocks to save everyone else, so be it.”

I felt sick to my stomach. So two more people died and it was all my fault. Hassleberry whose heart was as big as his muscles. And soon, Bastion who no one ever appreciated until it was too late.

Alexis was shaking, trying everything to stop herself from crying her eyes out.

Aster looked down solemnly. If it had been earlier in the game he wouldn’t have cared at all… but he was a changed man after Sartorius’ execution. Each death had weight to it now.

Chazz was close to ripping the stand out from under him. “Bastion! Why didn’t you say something? I- I would’ve—“

Bastion gave a weak smile and teary eyes “why would I risk letting the closest thing to a best friend get executed?”

Chazz trembled at that statement “closest thing?… god Bastion for the ultimate Mathematician you’re so… fucking stupid…”

He fell to his knees. Desperately holding the stand for support “you were my best fucking friend in this shit hole… what am I supposed to do now!?”

“Well, I know what I’m going to do!” MonoKuriboh chirped happily “I have a very special punishment for Bastion Misawa, the ultimate Mathematician!!”

Bastion sighed and hung his head “I’m sorry I disappointed everyone”

“let’s give it everything we’ve got!” Monokuriboh pulled out his hammer “iiiiiiits PUNISHMENT TIME!!!”

“Bastion…” I mumbled, “it can’t end like this…”

“Jaden… promise me…” Bastion looked up, finally showing the regret and fear in his eyes “promise me you won’t forget me!”

BASTION MISAWA HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY

TIME FOR THE PUNISHMENT

Bastion’s Execution: the perfect formula.

Bastion is placed in a room where the walls are covered in equations but one of them is unsolved. He finds a note saying “solve the equation, save your life”

Bastion notices the timer clamped to his chest and it counts down from four minutes.

He starts frantically trying to solve the equation, the camera constantly cutting to the timer then back to Bastion then back to the equation.

The pressure is maddening to him.

Eventually, he gets to the tail end, he only has ten seconds, he’s about to type the answer into the device but time runs out.

The device stabs him in the heart, killing him instantly.

Bastion falls to the ground and bleeds out, the camera pans back to the blackboard revealing the answer, 4.

I couldn’t believe it. Bastion was gone… just like everyone before him, he was killed by the twisted game Monokuriboh forced us to play.

“BASTIOOOOOOOOOONNNN” Alexis screamed as she collapsed to her knees, screaming, crying and pulling at her hair.

Chazz was no better as he was in a sobbing pile on the floor. I had no idea Bastion’s betrayal and death would affect him like this… but I guess there were sides to the Chazz that none of us knew.

Syrus just looked hollow and numb. Unsure how to process what just happened. Let alone if he could process it at all.

Yubel watched it all with a stone-cold face. I couldn’t tell what was running through their head at all.

“Jaden…?”

I turned to see Jesse and saw him looking at me with sad sympathetic eyes, but something in me just didn’t want to respond to him right then… I just wanted… to be alone…

I needed a moment to grieve.
