Digital Circus x a jessica rabbit-type reader!

since im a little melty brain from blasting through a bunch of requests today im going to do part of the cast! mostly characters i think would be interesting with this kind of reader as well as some characters i just wanna write more of (cough cough kinger cough cough)(i was originally going to do gangle as well but uhuh!!) ...this reminds me ive never watched who framed roger rabbit... or rather i have, but its been so long that ive truly forgotten nearly every aspect of the movie relying on the character wiki talking about her personality to guide me through this

CAINE:

caines and jax's parts are both likely going to be on the shorter side thanks to both of their cores holding similar themes in regards to half of the idea

anyways he's going to call you pet names, especially if he's interested in you.. good luck trying to land anything on him, though, he's going to easily zoom through the air

okay nod to the lola bunny request aside, i think caine would be just head (jaw?) over heels for you, i mean, he would be anyways, but something about your caring and quick witted personality

probably makes literal heart eyes at you and audibly goes "awooga"

absolutely loves watching you do your thing during the in house adventures, on the few times he actually spectates them; though you may or may not be the reason he watches

seems like the kind of person to call you "hot stuff" or "babe"

doesn't really care about the height difference since he rarely ever stands on the ground anyways, plus he doesn't care how small he is

JAX:

a lot of elements from the post above bleed into this, but lets add some more to it to make it a little more unique to the jessica rabbit idea!

takes it upon himself to try to get some sort of reaction out of you, outside of the name stuff... which proves to be a little harder than he thought.. actually, oddly enough, you seem to enjoy his antics?

so here's where i may be biased since i love kinger and i wish more people wrote for him, so his part may be a little longer, we'll see! i write these lil notes as i work on the post

right away i dont think he would call you any of the petnames listed above, or anything similar. i think, should you guys get on a nickname basis he would call you sweeter ones, "my love," "my darling", "my sweetheart", and similar stuff!

does not have lightning reflexes like jax and caine but if the names genuinely do bother you he would likely stop, you'll just have to remind him

imma be so real this man needs someone to stand back and just be there for him because he is going through it, so to have someone in his corner who has his best interests at heart will really do a lot for him

no comment on the height difference since kinger is pretty tall himself (and hes taller than jax! the only reason jax isnt upset about that is because kinger is always hunched), but i dont think he gives a darn about height

i am once again thinking about the in house adventure prompt with kinger that i had earlier, where he gets stuck somewhere and you have to go rescue him... this + that prompt, JUMPS UP N DOWN

✧. ┊ THEME ; sharing a bed [ hurt comfort ]

Ever since the . . accident, as Jax likes to call it, your room’s been a bit under reconstruction.

Caine didn’t know how to just magically poof away the water that was soaking into your carpet, and flooding your entire living quarter, so he shrugged, and let you decide what to do.

How the actual fuck did Jax manage to flood your room? You had no idea. But, for that, he was going to pay.

With a still slightly damp pillow in hand, you stare up at the face on the door, and don’t bother to knock. Barging right into Jax’s bedroom, you shut the door behind you and march your way to his bed. He actually jumped from the sudden action, and glared over at you.

“Hey!” His shout was a little out of character for him, but he reserved himself well, after. “Ever heard of knocking?” His dull mouth drops, eyelids drooping.

You ignore him, and walk straight for his bed. Tossing the pillow on it, you situate yourself to get comfortable, and pull back the single blanket on top of it.

“What are you doing?” He asks, brows slightly furrowing now.

“I’m taking your bed. Since you decided to ruin mine.” You reply simply, completely looking away from him. You busy yourself with taking off your slippers.

Jax stands, starting to grow some minor amusement now. “Oh, I get it. Seeing how long until I get mad, right?”

You ignore him again, and this time, slip into his bed. His eyes widen, darting all over your figure. You were literally laying in his bed, unphased.

“Goodnight.” You smile to yourself, and lay your head down to the pillow.

“No, get out.” He frowns, walking over to the side of the bed.

The two of you had this sort of rivalry— See who could last the longest without freaking out. You were destined to win this one, though. He didn’t like to be touched much, so let’s see how he likes you sleeping in his bed.

“Y/N,” Jax huffs down at you. His arm was resting on his hip, just thinking. You only smile back up at him, blinking once.

“Alright. I was getting tired anyway.” His little smirk makes you curious until you realize he was getting into bed next to you.

You weren’t going to break. You couldn’t. It was just a ploy to make you get uncomfortable and leave. That wasn’t gonna happen.

He happily sighs out, loudly, and tucks himself up and under the shared blanket. “I’ll try not to kick you in my sleep.” His one eye peeks over at you.

You shrug, turning on your side to face him. “And I’ll try not to push you off the bed. I’m a bed hogger.” Lips curl to a small smirk.

“What happens when you get cold?” His smirk broadened, and suddenly, with one tight pull, he yanked the blanket off of you. The chill of the air hits your skin, and you huff. Jax covered himself up with the fuzzy blanket instead, giving off another selfish, yet, charismatic smile.

You glare, looking at him. He laid there, smug, eyes closed and all tucked up. Cute little fucker.

You scoot closer to him, purposely getting into his personal space. You catch him glancing at you curiously when your body grazed his. “Then I guess I’ll just have to use your body heat.”

He frowns, sitting up slightly. “Good thing I’m made of ice.”

“You’re not gonna kick me out. This is payback for destroying my room.” Your eyes narrow onto him. With a sly hand, you grab the corner of the blanket, and tug it back. Now, the two of you were tugging and pulling over a blanket like fighting children.

“C’monnn, it was just a joke.” He rolls his eyes, letting go of the blanket. You gather it up in your hands, and frown.

“Dude, half of my stuff is literally ruined from water damage!” You weren’t trying to show off your anger, but man, it was hard not to still.

He turned on his side, facing away from you with a weakened smile. “It’s fine.”

“No, Jax, it’s not fine.” You frown, whipping the bunched up blanket back at him.

He sits up, giving you a glare. “You need to learn how to lighten up, cupcake.” His voice is calm, careless. The usual asshole tone he uses.

“Maybe if you said sorry for once, I could.”

Oof, there was some audible emotion in your voice that you wished you could get rid of. Okay, so, maybe it hurt allot more than you thought it did, because it was all stuff you’ve collected over time in the digital world, that made your life feel like it was a little bit more normal again. And Caine wouldn’t fix it, because you shouldn’t have even stolen it from here in the first place.

“Why would I do that?” He asked, frown lopsided.

It was actually annoying how little emotion his voice held.

“Because if you cared about me, you would.”

Uh oh. Your eyes start to tear up, and quickly, your turn your back to him. It was just really hard living in the digital world, sometimes. Everybody here would get their moments of weakness, but when you had someone constantly picking on you in such a . . confusing way, it was easy to let out the internal struggles.

He groans out lightly to himself. Your nose snivels, and you bury your face away from his view. That’s the last thing you needed him to see.

The blanket is tossed gently over you and your side of the bed. With knitted brows, you sniffle, staring at the wall in front of you to avoid looking to him.

Jax pats your shoulder, before dipping his head down with a sort of embarrassment.

“Take it easy, doll.”

With a curl of your lips, you smile weakly to yourself, and cozy up into the warmth of the blanket.

I’ve seen people compare the two and they are similar, but do have pretty major differences (ex. People in hfjone have more memories to lose than the people in digital circus). Still really love both. Biggest difference in terms of the overall style of the shows to me is that digital circus goes for overstimulating and One goes for understimulating.

And for anyone who liked the Digital Circus pilot and hasn’t watched hfjOne, I’d highly recommend it. It is a pretty similar premise of people being trapped in an unfamiliar world where they participate in a form of entertainment and it’s got the psychological horror/mystery vibe.

so like, reader hacked into the circus for shits and giggles, and unlike the cast reader doesn't get amnesia or is trapped or anything and they can leave and join whenever

each part for the characters might be a little shorter !! hope thats okay, my brain is a little raisin in regards to this idea </3 no gangle since i ran out of ideas

CAINE:

honestly i almost think he would see you as a threat at first, but im not sure since im on the fence about whether or not caine is genuinely malicious or not (going purely off the pilot, i have yet to look into anything outside of the pilot)

"honey! you're home!" in this loud voice of his (this can be read as romantic or platonic, obvious joke on the "honey im home!" gag(?) in media)

keeps a close eye on you since he cant bring himself to fully trust you, afterall, youre a hacker and he is an AI, of course he would be wary

POMNI:

uses you to keep track of what's going on in the real world, whether it be to the benefit or detriment of her mental health

riding the whole "pomni is trying to get out" thing, she might team up with you to try to figure out what exactly is going on and how to put a stop to it

not much else to be said, really, you try to crack the mysteries of this digital world together

JAX:

not too interested in what's going on in the real world

probably asks you how far you can go to your hacking, obviously with the intention of mischief

this might actually get you into some trouble with caine, though, depending on what exactly you attempt to do and if it will have lasting negative impacts on the worlds coding and shit

so best not to indulge jax lest you receive real consequences

RAGATHA:

oh! cool

unlike jax and pomni, doesnt try to use you to her benefit since that kind of goes against her whole "be kind" thing

really as long as you're not trying to hurt anyone she would be chill with you imo

occasionally asks about things about the real world and what's currently going on

KINGER:

more cautious around you than he would be if you were in the same position as everyone else, i mean he doesnt know what all you can do and he doesnt really want to find out

I don't think I ever ended up posting the coloured versions of my human Kinger and Queenie designs? Still weighing on names but here they are!!!!

I'm honestly still kind of unsure/unhappy with Queenie's design? Feel like I could do more, so I'll probably play around a bit more with it. But I THINK I'm satisfied with Kinger!

It should be noted that these are Kinger and Queenie likely in their 20's (if not i'd just give Kinger some grey hairs, like what you may have seen in the art of him with Pawno). As I sort of went over in this post here, especially in relation to the Kinger Dev theory, I imagine he could have been in his 20's when he got into the game. THAT IS if the characters aged since they entered the circus or if the ages we're told they are are the ages they got trapped in the game with. I can't really decide where I fall on that spectrum yet but for now that's probably where I'm going with this interpretation for now?

I have some more ideas I'd like to draw with them as humans but I'll get to that... eventually!
