Title: Centuries of waiting; Rewrite

Pairing: Elijah M. x Black!Petite!Reader, Kol M. x Bonnie B., Klefaroline, Rebekah M. x Marcel G.

Warnings: Angst, Fluff, Protective!Elijah, Human Auction, Klaus being Klaus, Jealous!Hayley, Shitty Brother

A/N: I kinda wanted to add new parts to Centuries of waiting but my ideas wouldn't fit. And I kinda wanted to do a rewrite of the old story. The old version will still be up.

Soulmates were something special, even more to vampires since it was rare for them to find their soulmate, even more if their soulmate is another vampire. When a vampire finds their soulmate, a vampire is quick to be overly protective of their soulmate. The soulbond being weak at first getting stronger the closer the two soulmates got. It was always drilled into you that it was only right for you to wait for your soulmate and you did, never having a relationship.

You were tired and feeling sore having been on your feet all day working as a waitress to pay off your brother's debts. Your brother, John had a problem with betting on horses and owing the bookies thousands. You got home a little after midnight soak by the cold rain water before freezing seeing John and a vampire in the living.

"Meet your owner, leader of the Elite Lord Dominic Von Baron." John tells you counting the money in front of him. Tears filled your eyes not believing what your brother had done, one of your girlfriends had told you about soulmates being taken and sold off.

"John.....you can't do this." You hiccup fear flooding you as John looked unbothered.

"Don't worry little mouse. You'll fetch a pretty penny." Dominic says snapping his fingers and two men grabbed you. You began to struggle screaming for your brother to help you.

Elijah was agitated not only had he caught the scent of his soulmate and felt a strong pull showing that they were some where in New Orleans. Caroline stood by worried about Elijah, understanding how he felt. After all Elijah only wanted his soulmate, after the witches used it against him. Hayley, the new hybrid that had Klaus's child and used by the witches as a fake soulmate of Elijah's.

Of course this leaded to both Stefan and Caroline being angry with Klaus since the Original had not cared if Hayley was killed. The family learned the truth when Kol and Bonnie was suspicious about Hayley's and Elijah's soulbond. Elijah still didn't trust Hayley since she knew it wasn't real.

"What do you want Marcel?" Rebekah growled still angry with the vampire about lying to her that he was dead and not calling her. Marcel sighed before seeing Elijah sit down clearly agitated about something.

"I need help. There is an auction happening tonight and rumor has it they have vampire soulmates to be sold off." Marcel answered getting all of the Original's attention hearing their low growls. If there was one thing the Original held higher than their family it was soulmates.

"Who is running this little auction?" Elijah question standing up surprising Marcel hearing the anger in his voice.

"They call themselves the Elite." Marcel answered not ready for the dark glares the Original's gave. The family was no stranger to the Elite, both Elijah and Klaus had ran into them from time to time. The Elite was a group believing they were the leaders of vampire society and followed the old traditions of being a vampire. They were powerful Elijah and Klaus gave them that but quickly grew annoyed by the group.

"Well then we'll have to give a warm welcome." Klaus said smirking darkly ready to kill.

You shivered feeling the chilly hit your bare skin, you wanted to pull at the collar tightly around your neck. But you better hearing the other girls begging and crying as they were being sold off. But there were times girl would be sold back to the Elite after being used and bled.

You only hoped that whatever vampire bought you would go easy on you. You whimpered being pull toward the stage to be auction off when you saw him....your soulmate. He was dressed in a three piece suit and dangerously handsome as he stared at you with the most predatory eyes.

"99 million." He said not looking away from you as you felt like you couldn't breath as heat raced though your veins. The need to feel your soulmate's against yours made you ache, you want to feel all of him. You were lead off stage to ready you for your buyer. You jumped at the sound of a neck snapping and your soulmate stood there

"I'm Elijah....your soulmate." Elijah says smiling at you and you surprised him by hugging him. You were happy that you had finally found your soulmate and he had came to save you.

"I'm Y/N." You whispered scared a guard may come in hearing you speak, Elijah looked at the collar around your neck. You squeaked when with a flick of his wrist the collar came off, you looked up at Elijah getting lost in his warm chocolate eyes.

"Beautiful." You whispered reaching up to touch his face and Elijah smiled leaning his face into your hands kissing your palm. Elijah groan nuzzling your wrist when he caught the scent of your blood just underneath your skin.

"Here, take my coat beloved." Elijah says noticing that you were still bare, it looked like a dress on you after Elijah buttoned it. You couldn't take it anymore and surprised Elijah when you grabbed his tie pulling him close kissing him. Elijah groaned against your mouth lifting you up kissing back feeling your arms wrap around his neck. The soulbond was complete and you both felt one another's emotion which made Elijah kiss you harder quickly pressing you against a wall.

"Elijah." You breathed nearly whining as Elijah's mouth found your neck leaving marks there. There was something about you being smaller than Elijah that made him go just primal. Which he blamed his Viking upbringing, you gripped Elijah's suit jacket when he kissed you again much more rougher than before while his hands were gripping your thighs.

"Elijah are ready to....go..."Hayley said stopped seeing Elijah pressing you against a wall, his fangs on display. Elijah was ready to bite you while you were flushed and your bare legs wrapped around his waist. Elijah was snapped out of his instincts pulling away your neck. Elijah felt you trembling which at first Elijah thought it was out of fear but he caught the scent of your arousal.

"Yes Hayley. I apologize, I got caught up in my soulmate." Elijah answered Hayley while cupping your cheek running his thumb over your swollen bottom lip itching to kiss you again. Hayley was shocked that Elijah had bought his soulmate and was seemly close to fucking you.

"Wait wait....she is your soulmate?" Hayley asked in disbelief watching Elijah hiking you up higher against his chest.

"Yes." Elijah answered placing soft kisses on your face making you giggle and Elijah felt the bubbly feeling you flooded the bond with. You suddenly held Elijah when there was screaming and Elijah rubbed your back.

"Don't worry beloved. You are okay." Elijah whispered in your ear feeling you relax against him. Elijah walked out carrying you with Hayley following after him. Right away Elijah put your face into his neck not wanting you to see the blood and bodies.

"I see you found your soulmate brother." Kol says dropping a body seeing you curled up in Elijah's arms. You were cite from what Kol could see and noticed how protective Elijah was already.

"I did. This is Y/N." Elijah said running his fingers over your hair listening to the soft mewl you let out. Elijah smiled turning his head kissing your temple just adoring you already.

"Let's get her home then." Kol says noticing hoe Hayley stared at you with a glare which didn't surprised the Original.

Once at the Abattoir you met Elijah's other siblings and their soulmates. Rebekah and Freya found you to be adorable, Klaus and Finn got protective agreeing that those that hurt you would die. Elijah let his sisters and Bonnie take you up to get cleaned up.

"So in total, we got 10 soulmates out but a few of the Elite's leaders had gotten away." Stefan says frowning while Elijah was angry learning that you and the other soulmates were under compulsion always.

It was to keep you and other girls obedient, Klaus would have been impressed if the undertones on why wasn't horrifying. At according to one of the saved soulmates, Anna had told them in the flashing of memories she had what happen to them and where the Elite may be hiding.

"Yes but we also have the first Sired. Since the Elite are made up from my Sired line and Niklaus's." Elijah said spotting you hanging around the doorway. Caroline and Bonnie went to their soulmate, you were dressed in Elijah's shirt hair falling down your back. You felt Elijah tug at you using the bond, Elijah smiled when you moved to sit next to him but Elijah pulled you into his lap.

"How about we give these love birds a moment alone." Caroline says smiling giving Elijah a wink making Original chuckle watching everyone leave. It was just you and Elijah alone in the den, you looked up at Elijah flushing. Elijah waste no time kissing you, he gripped your hips lifting you so you were facing him.

"You are just beautiful." Elijah whispered kissing your neck listening to your breathing hitch. Elijah pulled you closer feeling you grip his shirt while he moved his mouth along your neck.

"Elijah....is...okay if....we go to bed." You squeaked feeling Elijah's hands move up your thighs while nibbling on your neck feeling you press closer. Elijah brushed your hair from your sleepy doe eyes and flushing face.

"Of course beloved. Do you want your own room?" Elijah asked you rubbing your cheek as a feeling a predatory need to claim you seeing how innocent you looked.

"Can I....stay with you?" You asked quietly blinking hearing Elijah growl lowly. Suddenly you were on your back in Elijah's bed with him staring at you really enjoying how you looked in his bed.

"Prefect. Just right where you should be." Elijah says putting you under the covers and moved to change. You curled into Elijah's side once he got into the bed making him smile burying his nose in your hair feeling how relaxed you were though the bond.

"Goodnight Elijah."

"Goodnight beloved. Sleep, I'll be here when you wake." Elijah says softly running his fingers up and down your back.

Okay okay hear me out what *if* you did some klefan and some carolijah in the same fic…but it’s also Klaroline making the other person jealous (because jealousy is a guilty pleasure of course)

lol ignore this I’m missing like carolijah angst (particularly just how it makes Klaus jealous) and thought it would be fun to through in some klefaroline/klefan in there too for fun. Also no pressure just needed a place to vent an idea and I’m not a writer so please enjoy 🥰

Amanda!!! The sheer chaos of this!! 🤌🤌🤌 I love it! I can see Klaus being so jealous he'd have a stroke at a situation like this 😂 And I'm just ultra sensitive for Klefan these days, ok 😌

You know, aside from those two Klefan/Kleferoline stories I mentioned the other day, I also started drafting this other human AU a while back that would involve an arranged/convenience marriage (or a betrothal, anyway) between Caroline and Klaus that would end with Elijah catching feelings for her and driving Klaus out of his freaking mind.😂 In this context, Bill would blackmail the Mikaelsons into arranging the betrothal but Caroline doesn't know about it, she thinks it's "a convenient betrothal, but a "real" one"real" (or as real as a modern day betrothal could be, just a high society type of thing, her father wanting to make it into the big boys' table and using his daughter for it, which she very much understand is the situation, but was kind of prepared for it her entire life, and she thinks it was Klaus who wanted to get to know her). She would move in with Klaus (and Elijah, because they're uber rich but have a living situation like in the show, where they both inhabit the family's mansion) and while Klaus would be extremely pouty at the beginning, and the two of them would be bickering like fucks to distract from the obvious mutual attraction they don't want to be the first to admit to, Elijah would be on the sidelines going... 👀 Oh. And then at some point he'd try to make a move on her, telling her that the whole thing is a scam, but by then Klaroline would be very much falling for each other and then DRAMA ENSUES.

Or at least that's what I remember, but it's been a minute since I looked at that one, I could be wrong about the details. 😂

Sideline Carolijah for jealousy purposes is my whole heart 🤌

Thoughts on 3x01-3x11, lol I WROTE SO MUCH but this season (especially this half) has so much happening it's kind of impossible to not have a lot of thoughts. This is also where the show starts to embrace being more comedic (like this show is really a dark comedy at it's heart) so that helps. More characters being involved in the supernatural business also helps and up-powering Tyler is great for the plot IMO. I don't think Klaus was as strong of a villian as Katherine was last season (he is so whiny in the first half) but he started to get a little more interesting after he came back, maybe he just needed his hybrid minions to become more interesting. More below, I even broke it up in episode order!

3x01

Isn’t Elena’s birthday in June? She said Ric spent half the summer on the couch but that would mean it’s gotta be late July early August, right? (don't know why I'm even trying to make sense of this show's timeline)

I forgot that A Drop in the Ocean was played during a montage and included Forwood sexy time! What a moment. When I first watched the show the Stefan and Elena scene at the end is when I actually started shipping Stelena, it was the first time I really felt like they truly loved each other (song helped too because WHAT A SONG I always sing-a-long). I didn't feel that same buzz this time though, but maybe too much time as passed (and that damn scene in 6x02 saying this was when Elena fell in love with Damon takes a lot away from my old feels). I'm getting such a buzz from Forwood though!

3x02

Elena’s getting on my damn nerves with this stupid rescue mission in the woods during a full moon… I don’t understand how Ric and Damon agreed. I fail to see any reason for this nonsense plan.

The moment in the 20s flashbacks when Stefan is looking at Rebekah while Klaus is talking to him and then he turns and looks at Klaus with the biggest heart eyes I have ever seen him use how am I supposed to not ship it? The way they keep using "brother" to hide the extremely heavy gay subtext too I S2G. If this show was made 10 years later on a better network with better writers that subtext would be straight-up text! Think Louis and Lestat on AMC's Interview with the Vampire. In that just world I would have gotten canon Klefaroline dammit!

3x04

Caroline is a much better person than I because she's protecting her Dad meanwhile I'm counting down the episodes until he drops dead.

Stefan is really off his game (happens when he's too emotional about something) I cannot believe he got out-manipulated by Rebekah one of the most easily manipulated characters on this show. Pathetic really.

As soon as Beremy started being cute the writers start fucking it up for Bonnie. Makes me madder watching it all over again and how much they never give Bonnie the devoted love interests like Caro and Elena. And I like Jeremy and Anna but I’m so annoyed at this whole storyline in how it’s treating Bonnie I can’t even enjoy it. GFY Julie.

Completely forgot Bill Forbes taught himself how to resist compulsion (IDK why too it's a big plot point oops) and I can't believe none of these idiots bothered to learn how. I like to believe Caroline did and there's a class at the Salvatore Boarding School that teaches it.

The gym buzzer countdown was a nice touch lol.

3x06

I like that Rebekah narrowed in on Caroline and was like “you, I want your life” because she sees the vision and the potential! In all seriousness though I wonder if Rebekah having an interest in Caroline is why the writers picked Caroline to be the love interest for Klaus (since it parallels with them and Stefan in the '20s). Things that make me go hmmm.

I'm with Ric and Caroline, every time I see or hear about Damon and Elena I was to scream "stop molesting her!" UGH! He is always invading her personal space and it annoys me! The part where Elena said Damon needed to use his charm to distract Rebekah and Ric said "better luck finding a dagger" and you see Caro in the background laughing was the best.

Kinda happy to get a break from Klaus for a few episodes, he's just so one-dimensional during this time period and frankly annoying.

3x06 made me laugh so much even though I'm not sure I was supposed to laugh as much as I did. I mean Ripper Stefan is never not funny (a jerk but a hilarious jerk) but the scene were Ripper Stefan and 1,000 year old Rebekah are sitting in Ric's HIGH SCHOOL HISTORY CLASS just kills me, like what even is this show. Also laughed at Tyler being a "d-bag" baby hybrid, and you knew he was sired as soon as he didn't want to help lock up Stefan. HA!

Um, how did Rebekah get into the Lockwood mansion?

3x07

How did Lexi make Stefan think he’d been bleeding out for years? Is that a vampire power they just never used again or is it a special ghost power? I don’t remember this ever happening again.

Caroline fighting the ghost-vamps in her ballet flats lol the cutest!

3x08

Elena dealt with Ripper Stefan for like an hour and was like "absolutely not, Damon you do it" LMFAO which reminded me of the gifset that made everyone mad.

The Defan convo in 3x08 about Stefan always saving Damon for the bajillionith time even without humanity reminds of the convo in Damon’s head in 8x10 a little. This is a good season for them if I remember correctly, obviously I always enjoy them more when their causes of contention aren’t solely about Elena.

Elena making the Beremy breakup about herself, she really does have a gift. Even Bonnie was like really?

Bonnie ignoring Jeremy and giving him a death glare 1000% BB you deserve better you brought his ass back to life and lost tons of witchy power doing so he deserves to feel like shit!

3x09

Oh this is the first time Tyler and Caroline get into it about not including each other in schemes. This is kind of always a cause of conflict in their relationship but it’s a good cause of conflict because it makes sense. Tyler has a pack mentality (werewolf/hybrid) whereas Caroline is more independently driven (vampire). Like Caro said so much supernatural boyfriend drama.

Elena stabbing Rebekah in the back with the dagger is one of her best moments (even if I RME at her “I care too much” moment after).

3x10

Elena giving Tyler shit for being sired to Klaus (something he has no control over) is pretty funny considering what happens to her next season... insert well-well-well-how-the-turntables.gif.

Stefan’s spin decapitation of one of Klaus’ hybrids in front of him is so extra, I love it.

The symbolism of Elena “crowning” Caroline is not lost on me. Neither is Klaus forcing his way into Caroline’s house through the doorway.

Yeah the Wickery bridge scene was rough, no one knows how to psychologically torture/traumatize people quite like Stefan does.

Lines that made me laugh:

Bonnie: You think you're bored? My dads family is like wet paint that never dries. (oh I’m saving that one!)

Stefan: You’re into Tyler now, huh? That’s kind of fickle. (He's the worst but the comedic timing is *chef's kiss*)

Stefan: We should all listen to Elena, right? I mean, her plans always work out so well, don't they? (I’m saying! Damon agreed too LMFAO)

the way klaus is so obviously projecting onto st*lena because he and stefan are in love - or they were but stefan no longer is interested in their friendship and klaus is deeply upset by this, prompting the “that kind of love never dies” bit because that’s how he felt about him and stefan, how they were supposed to be

and caroline projected onto st*lena and called them “epic love” foreshadowing that she’s attracted to him and would consider a relationship later

that’s the only way i’ll accept the writers using their characters as st*lena propaganda

favorite storyline: beklena finding the cure together/elena's vampirism in general. also elejah and forwood's interactions in s2 the good old days, s6 dark!steroline (chef's kiss), s3 klaroline, klaus versus his hybrids, klefan going on a murdery road trip together (they are hizzie before hizzie was even hizzie goodbye), katherine and nadia reuniting before the writers ruined that, bamon and the prison world, bonnie + shane's interactions (dark!bonnie was so so close we could have had it all)...... for such a terrible show it gave so much material.

least favorite storyline: d*lena sirebond nonsense probs, caroline/andie being reduced to a blood bag, st*ferine in s5.

what I wish had happened but didn’t: abby actually working hard for her and bonnie to have a relationship, caroline hating on DE in s4 for the RIGHT REASONS and reminding elena of the fact that she did not "jump into bed" on the first date but was assaulted, elena being free of the [redacted] brothers and regaining agency in s4, sheila having more of a presence on the show (and replacing the s*lvabros/al*ric as PRIMARILY BONNIE'S CARETAKER because she would prioritize her granddaughter first, but also protecting the rest of the scooby doo gang as well she'd also teach bonnie to value her self worth and not allow them to step all over her), BONNIE BEING ALLOWED TO MOURN the same way her white friends were allowed to, a motivation for bonnie outside magic, more love interests for bonnie, bonnie/qetsiyah interaction, caroline having motivations/storylines outside of male love interests, at least half the characters on this show being queer, luke parker being allowed to actually date men, nora realizing her exgirlfriend took the side of valerie's abuser over valeria and that she can do better/dating bonnie, katherine and nadia exploring their mother-daughter relationship, the mikaelsons and bonnie securing some kind of alliance

what happened that I wish hadn’t: d*roline (do i need to explain), tyler!klaus (it could have been an opportunity for michael trevino to show off his acting skills the same way nina dobrev did by playing multiple characters in one body, but instead the writers just had to go there), the second KC biting scene (which was completely unnecessary/recyled idea and totally could have been handled differently), katherine pursuing stefan instead of prioritizing her daughter

the originals

favorite character: klaus mikaelson, rebekah mikaelson (i love literally every character on this show tbh)

least favorite character: mikael i guess? also greta and her supernatural n*zis

brOTP: klebeklijah, davina/cami, davina/hayley, haymille, haybekah, vincent/klaus, klavina is totally my platonic crackship sh

OTP: klayley, klamille, haybekah, haylijah, elijah/gia, elijah/aya, kolvina, klaus/aurora because i find the toxic patterns of their relationship hella entertaining

NOTP: uhm idk...... s5 haylijah i guess

favorite storyline: when klaus found out about rebekah's "betrayal" (i have a lot of thoughts about this arc and the acting in these eps was*chef's kiss*) and totally went off his rocker lmfao, cami becoming a vampire (which for some reason isn't really popular), klamille's slow burn development, haylijah's s1 chemistry and buildup (i lost interest after s2), the introduction of genevieve's character, hayley becoming a hybrid, gia's vampire transition, marcel putting klaus on "trial" after davina's death, lucien becoming a hybrid 2.0 (which is basically just an original on redbull lmfao, how does JP expect me to buy that there's something more powerful than the very first vampires on earth), kol and rebekah bodysnatching, freya reappearing as the Long Lost Sibling in s2

least favorite storyline: elijah's character regression in s5

what i wish had happened but didn't: klayley basically "adopting" davina in some sense; and i wanted cami to be dark!cami for a little while longer so klamille could parallel steroline. also klayley exchanging platonic gestures (klaus's hand on hayley's shoulder, her hand on his arm when she told him kindness=/= weakness) should definitely have been utilized more.
