Kefnet vs. Kolvori
Battle of the Gods: Qualifying Round
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kolvori would love to party with Kefnet. He'll probably need seven or more cards in hand to prevail in this only Theros-less qualifying match.

Note
Expanding on the "whiote is friendly to legends", we also recently had Instrument of the Bards, Ellywik Tumblestrum, Kolvori, Esika (as well as Toralf's hammer), while white only gained search for glory. Are they all bends ?
We’re still exploring the space, but the intent is for white to be primary.

The Lore of Kaldheim: Vega, the Watcher
Tumblr media
“A spy for the gods, Vega is a spirit owl who spends most of her time in the roots of the World Tree near the Gods' Hall. After Valki tricked Toralf into dragging the Hall across the realms, the gods really weren't keen on having it happen again. Should anything abnormal happen here, Vega would immediately report to Kolvori.”

Magic: the Gathering - The Gods of Kaldheim
There are a total of 12 Gods or 'Skoti' within the Kaldheim set: Alrund, Reidane, Halvar, Egon, Toralf, Birgi, Cosima, Tergrid, Valki, Esika, Kolvori, and Jorn.  Here are the dossiers of each of them we have so far.  Still missing in action so far is Reidane, Cosima and Birgi.
White : Halvar, God of Battle // Sword of the Realms, selfless, stalwart, unwavering, and always the most sensible person in any room.
White : Reidane, God of Justice // ??, youthful, arrogant, fanatical, and fully committed to the cause of justice.  I suspect her appearance is similar to that of an angel.
Blue : Alrund, God of the Cosmos // Hakka, Whispering Raven
Blue : Cosima, God of the Sea // ??,  intensely curious and tempestuous. Born a Cosmos monster, she can't stand being in one place for too long.
Black : Egon, God of Death // Throne of Death, one of the oldest of the gods, but he ages backwards. He has the appearance (and the bitter, negative attitude) of a teenage boy.
Black : Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern, an accomplished warrior whose shadow has a terrifying life of its own.
Black : Valki, God of Lies // Tibalt, Cosmic Impostor, Vain and selfish, he causes no end of trouble for the other gods. On purpose, of course.
Red : Toralf, God of Fury // Toralf's Hammer, a fearless risk-taker with a passion for wild feats and saga-worthy adventures.
Red : Birgi, God of Boasting // ??, Fun-loving and charismatic, she is always the center of attention as she travels across the realms.
Green : Esika, God of the Tree // The Prismatic Bridge, She creates the Cosmos Elixir called 'Tyrite ' that allows the gods to maintain their supernatural power.
Green : Kolvori, God of Kinship // The Ringheart Crest, Talkative and exuberant, she cares deeply about the fate of her divine family.
Green : Jorn, God of Winter // Kaldring, the Rimestaff, He is an exceptional tracker who knows the swiftest, safest paths across (and between) every realm.

Note
Just to be clear, the Skoti lore and Kolvori's info/card specifically talk about a "divine family". Are the Skoti related in familial terms, or is it a metaphorical thing?

The Lore of Kaldheim: The Gods of Kaldheim
“The current ruling family of gods, the Skoti, supplanted the ancient Einir a few centuries ago. The descendants of the Einir are the shadow elves and wood elves, whose power is greatly diminished.
While there have been multiple ‘families’ of gods, they have all had a cosmic connection to the essence of the World Tree. The elves believe that the Einir used to channel it through their connection with Koma, while the Skoti imbibe a magical ‘Cosmos Elixir’ created by Esika, the god of the World Tree. The Cosmos Elixir also slows their aging and maintains their supernatural powers.
The Skoti are incredibly powerful, but they are also selfish, prone to bickering, and constantly causing trouble in the realms. In addition to being exceptionally strong, fast, or nimble, each god has special powers and abilities connected to their sphere of influence. The gods have strong personalities, and each is involved in a tangled web of relationships with their kin. While each god is individually powerful, their internal conflicts are becoming increasingly problematic for the plane.
Tyrite
Tumblr media
The gods use a highly magical substance derived from the "sap" of the World Tree. Tyrite looks like the aurora-like lights of the Cosmos given solid form. While the gods may handle it safely, direct contact with Tyrite is quite dangerous for mortals.
Because Esika, the god of the World Tree, makes her Cosmos Elixir from Tyrite, the Skoti's skin or other aspects of their appearance show the influence of the aurora lights in subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) ways.
The Skoti
Alrund is the god of wisdom. He won his extensive knowledge by battling the Cosmos monsters.
Tumblr media
Reidane, the god of justice, is youthful, arrogant, fanatical, and fully committed to the cause of justice.
Halvar, the god of battle, is selfless, stalwart, unwavering, and always the most sensible person in any room.
Tumblr media
Egon, the god of death, is one of the oldest of the gods, but he ages backwards. He has the appearance (and the bitter, negative attitude) of a teenage boy.
Toralf, the god of thunder, is a fearless risk-taker with a passion for wild feats and saga-worthy adventures.
Birgi is the god of boasting. Fun-loving and charismatic, she is always the center of attention as she travels across the realms.
Cosima, the god of the sea, is intensely curious and tempestuous. Born a Cosmos monster, she can't stand being in one place for too long.
Tergrid, the god of fear, is an accomplished warrior whose shadow has a terrifying life of its own.
Valki is the god of lies. Vain and selfish, he causes no end of trouble for the other gods. On purpose, of course.
Tumblr media
Esika is the god of the World Tree. She creates the Cosmos Elixir that allows the gods to maintain their supernatural power.
Kolvori is the god of kinship. Talkative and exuberant, she cares deeply about the fate of her divine family.
Jorn is the god of weather. He is an exceptional tracker who knows the swiftest, safest paths across (and between) every realm.”

The Lore of Kaldheim: Kolvori, God of Kinship
Tumblr media
“Kolvori is talkative and exuberant, able to speak for hours about the beauty she finds everywhere in nature. She can discourse at length about the drops of water on a spiderweb or her awe at holding a newborn kitten. She keeps the sagas of the Skoti, preserving the memory of her divine family's glorious deeds.
The youngest child of Cosima and Alrund, Kolvori cares deeply about the fate of her divine family. She yearns for them to overcome their differences and grow closer to one another, acting as a mediator when disputes arise. She knows what each one of her siblings and cousins enjoys and leaves them presents in a desperate effort to keep the peace among the gods.
Secretly, Kolvori feels like the Skoti are on the verge of falling apart. Though Egon shares a similar concern, the two gods are so different in personality and outlook that they can barely stand each other's company.”

The Lore of Kaldheim: Cosima, God of the Voyage
Tumblr media
“Cosima is the God of the Sea. She is intensely curious and tempestuous and can't stand being in one place for too long. She calls herself the daughter of the sea, where she first came into being, rather than counting the other elder Skoti as her kin. Cosima does not live with the rest of the gods, but she comes back occasionally and is welcome to stay in the Gods' Hall as long as she likes.
Cosima was born as a Cosmos monster—a great dolphin who swam through the auroras between the realms—but when she crossed into the Gods' Realm, she took human form and claimed divinity. She and Alrund had three children (Toralf, Birgi, and Kolvori), and they lived together in the Gods' Hall for twenty years, which is still the longest she has ever stayed in one place. But she never stopped hearing the call of the sea, and eventually she left the Hall to return from whence she came.
As soon as she dips under the waves, Cosima takes the form of a dolphin again, swimming freely and joyfully through the oceans of all the realms. Some suspect that she spends most of her time in Littjara among the mysterious shapeshifters, but no one really knows where she goes during her long absences from the Gods' Realm.”
