Great showing from the Best Friends this week. OC, Danhausen, Trent, and Chuck (and Trent and Chuck together!) join their friend Kris Stat as certified smashes. Though, somehow a threesome with Best Friends the tag team rated higher (66.7%) than Chuck or Trent separately (66.2% and 61.3%, respectively).

You guys definitely prefer House of Black Julia Hart over Varsity Blonds Julia, and who could blame you! She is a powerful combination of scary and beautiful.

I was out at a bar with my husband when the request for Andy Kaufman came in, and I said to him, "Someone just submitted Andy Kaufman??? He didn't wrestle." And my husband replied, "Yeah he did. He called himself the intergender world champion and offered $1000 and his hand in marriage to any woman who could defeat him." So that was a neat history lesson and definitely shed some light on the line "Andy Kaufman in a wrestling match" in the REM song "Man on the Moon," which I'd previously assumed was some kind of weird Michael Stipe metaphor.

I have seen some complaints about the images I've used for some of these wrestlers, and I don't disagree! Anyone who requests a wrestler is encouraged to add a photo to their ask! And since you can't include photos in anonymous asks, if you don't want your username associated with the poll, mention that in your ask and I'll create a separate post for the poll instead of replying to your ask. I did also find a source for photos that isn't just a Google image search, so image thirstiness will improve soon.

I did enjoy it! I got WAY MORE genuine laughs out of these first two episodes than I did the entire first season. Magnus is hilarious, I love his whole vibe lmao. Fluffy's character, Kris, he's...man is really out here looking for a father figure and it is deffs biting him in the ASS.

The elves are top tier as per the usual! Betty and Noel are continuing to be THE power couple and I am SO HAPPY ABOUT IT, I love them to death 🥰🥰🥰

My fave thing about the season so far is just everyone out here like Scott wtf are you doing. Wtf, man. I yelled GET HIS ASS so many times lol. The official Get His Ass Count as of the end of Episode 2: 8. 8 whole GET HIS ASS moments. BLESS.

Episode 1

Scott sucked SO BAD this episode. He breaks the SOS on a worldwide level then gets upset when Cal is like "I love Riley! I wished her here! We're hanging out! Riley!! :D" and is like "Bro you should've dusted her."

OKAY SCOTT. WHAT ABOUT THE WHOLE WORLD, SCOTT, HMM? ARE WE DUSTING THEM??? HMM??? YEESH.

Scott aside (you know, his usual boomer-esque old guy who refuses to change shtick with BUT WHAT ABOUT FAMILY! And whatnot thing), everything else was. Mid, tbh. But fun! Santa being like "Are you gonna kill him?" With Carol being like "I can take care of Gary" was hilarious.

Betty and Noel, of course, SHINNED. I love them, they are SO CUTE. Cardboard face cutouts??? ICONIC. Nobody is doing it like them!

Now. Cal. aka, Buddy. I am very worried for him. Like, 4 episodes ago he was having ANXIETY about being Santa? And now this? Carol being like "what if he doesn't want it don't force him to follow in your footsteps" like. I AGREE. HE SHOULD GO OFF TO COLLEGE AND LIVE HIS LIFE!!!! I have a lot of thoughts there but it is late and I need to FOCUS because I need to yell about Cupid in a second, ANYWAY

Magnus Antas. I love this guy. I fucks with him. He takes a 700 year nap and is like "I'm fine" until his toxic bestie is like "I WANT TO KILL" and a kid sasses him for not being Santa/being OLD and he's like "Nevermind. I want to kill now too. Time to MURDER." He has VIBES and I like them!! He also seems like he's was over it until Olga was like "but what if" and some kid was mean to him and tbh, I can't even blame him for getting pissy at the kid lol. I'd also turna kid into "a Roblox" if I could (here for Gamer Mad Santa btw. I'd watch him stream on Twitch)

This is verging into Episode 2 territory, lol. May as well get there, then!

EPISODE 2

So, the LORE DROPS. Um. There was a LOT of it? And it seems to contradict itself/not quite equate with itself? If the NP is a utopia for magic, why is it like that? Was Magnus good, or not? Why do ALL the fairy creatures live there, when they come from so many diverse cuktures and backgrounds? That's a lil messed up! What the fuck happened with the gnomes becoming so (what's the phrase) PROMINENT for Santa? Will we get answers for all of these? Based on past season, PROBABLY NOT! BUT I HOPE WE DO! BC IT IS A BIT ALL OVER THE PLACE! AHH!

RIGHTO. SO SANDRA'S MAGIC. Love that for her! Love that they're actually devoting time to showing her interacting with La Befana and learning about herself and the pair of them discussing things!!! MUCH rather watch that than a 5 minute long auto-tuned elf song which is there just for a Santa/Satan joke! I'm excited to see how her whole arc goes--it looks like she's ACTUALLY GETTING ONE.

I wonder why Befana needs her to tell her parents, like, aside from obvious reasons. She was so insistent on Sandra making sure her parents knew she was training with Befana, that I'm wondering if there's something more to it a la "our powers don't work on other legendary figures". Like, was it to keep her mind clear? Is it like a past thing? Bc Witches are "scary" and often "bad" given that Santa calls Befana a "good one"?

That's another thign! Not sure I vibed with THAT whole thing. Both Claus's being like "yeah witches, they are deffs their stereotypes". Like. Idk. It sits. Not gr8 with me. Feels like performative activism, sorta, you know?

Which is also how I feel about the girl power moments, tbh. Like, it's nice to see them--Carol respecting Befana as a self-made woman, sister solidarity, etc. But it feels very performative! It feels very much like they are checking it off a list, you know? They're STILL like "Carol is trying to find a role for Mrs. Claus" and they go for COP? Wildin. Also wildin that the ELFS are COP EQUIVALENTS? Um, since WHEN?! They are funky little guys with jet packs and no regard for authority. Remember when they broke Santa out of jail and bullied the cop at the front desk? Remember that? YEAH.

OKAY SO NOW MY FAVOURITE PART TO TALK ABOUT. CUPID AND THE COUNCIL!

So as a classics major and a lover of the Cupid/Psyche myth (and personal bias from OCs made bc of said myth) I was unimpressed with the Mrs. Cupid convo. FIRST off, her name is PSYCHE so jot that down. SECONDLY. It was ONE ARROW MEANT FOR HER THAT SOMEHOW GOT LODGED INTO CUPID ACCIDENTALLY WHILE SENT ON AN ERRAND BY HIS MOTHER, VENUS, TO TAKE CARE OF (make her fall in love with a horrible monster/something/someone very ugly) PSYCHE BC SHE WAS SO BEAUTIFUL WORSHIP WAS DROPPING FOR VENUS AND GOING TO PSYCHE.

This resulted in Cupid and Psyche having a very strange romance/marriage in which Psyche's shitty sisters convince her to break Cupid's one rule (which was don't look at me) and he gets injured, HELD HOSTAGE by his mother, and Psyche has to go on a QUEST to free him that involves Venus making her do all sorts of shitty shenanigans, setting the personifications of sadness and despair on her, and trapping her in an eternal sleep. Cupid, afflcited by his own arrow, escapes his mother's house when he hears about this, finds her, and draws the sleep out of her, waking her up and reuniting them.

They then proceed to go to Zeus (not Jupiter despite Cupid being the Roman equivalent of Eros, and Venus roman of Aphrodite? It's interesting) like LOOK WHAT VENUS DID and Zeus goes "Wow, that's a little fucked up, actually. Listen, I'll make her a god and sanction your marriage and tell of your Mom IF you do something a little fucked up for me and help me get ANY woman I want" to which Cupid goes "Sure, that sounds reasonable and not fucked up at all" and then he and Psyche get married and have a fucking rager with the gods and have one kid, Pleasure, aka Hedone/Volupta, or in SOME iterations, THREE kids, Pleasure, Joy, and a third one who's name escapes me (Vanity I think) and presumably live happily ever after! READ FOR YOURSELF!

I am very passionate about this bc uh. this is uh. Dite's whole ass backstory? She is Hedone lmao so I've got some personal attachment here thanks to me own OCs lmao, ANYWAY

So YEAH that got me miffed. As did uh, the whole PEEKABOO and cupid making baby noises back at Riley. The ICK.

But you know what I DID love?? Cupid being like "I'm not spying but also, I am spying and also, the whole ass entire council is like BOI...WHAT THE FUCK". GET HIS ASS! CALL HIM OUT!! BC YEAH, WHAT THE FUCK SCOTT?? SEASON 1?? HELLO??? EVERYTHING BEFORE THAT??? VIOLATING THE SOS BY SHARING ALL THOSE SNOW GLOBES??? AHHHHHHH.

Cupid delivering that 3 month deadline and Council threat I was like. HERE for it. I was like. GET HIS ASS (this was one of the GHA counter moments tbh). Like, this dude is out of control! I think it's high time Scott meets the consequences for his actions! AH!

So YEAH. Excited to see Sandy and for New EB! I hope the whole Council comes back, even if they have to recast, that 5 minute scene would add YEARS to my life that Riley and Cal took away.

Because they are. So icky. I feel as though. There is a scale. And Marie is on one end, and Riley is on the other. This isn't just FIRST LOVE this is just DISGUSTING. Like it was cute at first last season but now Riley is honestly?? Sups annoying. You can tell that they're like, checking items off the list instead of actually putting more thought into them, because Riley is v much a stereotype and they have WAY UPPED her teenager levels. I need them to talk to actual teens. Nobody says OMG like that and also, she's bringing home BIKERS?????????? UM??????? It's like. Why are they so bad at writing love interests? You feel? Tho this could just be a me thing 🤔🤔🤔

They really should've socialized those kids, DAMN. Santa being like "And we all know how that [Romeo and Juliet] went" or whatever the line was had me like "FINALLY SCOTTY BOY. SOMETHING WE CAN AGREE ON!"

AND LAST ON MY LIST. THE SCOTT/SANDRA SCENE.

Finally. Finally. FINALLY. Some good parenting from Scott. FINALLY. Being sups understanding to Sandra? I actually loved it. He finally did ONE (1) GOOD THING. MAYBE HE IS? LEARNING? I DUNNO MAN! WE'LL SEE HOW IT GOES! But yeah, I did like that scene a lot. I'm just really here for Sandra getting her moment!

So YEAH. Overall, season 2 is okay. Gave me more laughs which is WELCOME, and I cannot wait to see how this develops. Especially since the lore was like, really thrown our way, you know? It was a lot for two episodes and again, did kind of contradict itself? Hopefully it clears up once Santa inevitably learns the truth about Mad Santa, probably mostly thanks to Carol who is DOING the MOST.

But yeah, I'm hoping to see the lore tidied/explained a bit better. Especially bc the whole elf lore opening, with the icy tunnels and drab vibes, didn't sit well with me? It...I didn't like it. Not my cup of tea. The lore in general isn't my cup of tea though it's fun to see it there finally, lol. Poor Toots, being named after a fart essentially (I went right to toilet humour, I'm sorry, I am so mature I promise i'm not)

Also, they really kinda. Throw around the head elf title, huh? It felt REALLY WEIRD to not see BMan there, and Toots just being thrown in? Weird it's WEIRD. I wouldn't bring B-Man back for it but MAN IS IT WEIRD. Especially since the new elves, as much as I ADORE THEM, don't have the same kind of like. Old feel to them? As the movie elves did? So I was like "they should NOT be there right now. They should NOT."

Me and my Poland tour bestie (noriko_743 on ig) were reflecting on our insane week following the guys around and realised that we basically did a speedrun on the entire JO fangirl checklist.

It was Nori's first in-person JO gig ever at Warsaw 1 (!!!)

We got barricade for the first time in both our lives

Nori got photos and hugs with ALL the guys

I got a guitar pick in Wrocław!

We sang Umazane Misli with Bojan at Warsaw 2

Bojan actually recognised me in Poznań and Prague and remembered what we'd talked about in Wrocław 🙀

Nori got handwritten lyrics from Bojan for a tattoo

We both ended up in Vita's photos on the band's official account

We ran into the guys "in the wild", i.e. out in the city during the day

We got the live debut of a new iconic outfit (all-white Kris)

We saw all (I think all?) the Stožice outfits in person

We saw the Demoni scream and Kris NGVOT in person

I was the numbers person / unofficial "queue manager" for the pre-wristband queue at Warsaw 2 and Poznań

We participated in fan actions that the guys really appreciated (shoutout jokeroutpolska for organising)

I met lots of tumblr mutuals 🥰

I met a bunch of people I have plans to see again in Munich, The Hague and Amsterdam

Like... it's crazy just how much happened in this last week. And there was no one show where we got everything, or nothing. Every single gig had something special to offer. So if you're wondering whether it's "worth" following JO around on tour... it really, really is. The experiences you have and the people you meet are incredible.

Speaking of, here are some other unforgettable tour experiences that will stick with me for a long time to come:

Nori and I only met at the hostel before Warsaw 1, and she wasn't even planning to come to that show, she only had a ticket for Warsaw 2! But I talked her into getting a cheap resale ticket for Warsaw 1, and she queued with me, and she loved it so much she immediately bought tickets for Wrocław and Poznań too, so we booked hotels together for the rest of the tour.

I literally just met Nori last week?? But we spent nearly every minute together between Warsaw 1 and Poznań, dealing with the highest highs and lowest lows of tour life, and it now feels like we've been friends for ages.

After the fucking absurd queue situation at Wrocław (4:45am and #45, WTF????) we decided that after the show, we would wait outside for the boys and then head straight for Poznań in my car. So we literally drove through the night with our new friend Safursey and formed the start of the Poznań queue.

Our hotel in Poznań wasn't ready until 2pm so we literally just took turns queuing and sleeping in my car. Nori and Safursey let me have the first sleeping shift since I drove us overnight.

I think we only slept between 15-20 hours total over 8 days???

I'm actually glad I got to experience a cursed gig (Prague) where everything went wrong. Seeing how professionally the guys reacted and how smoothly things were resolved made me appreciate just how experienced and calm they are.

Nori and I were unknowingly the centre of a major Twitter outrage after Warsaw 2 because someone accused us of stealing the microphone after Umazane Misli. Neither of us are on Twitter so we didn't even know about this controversy, but someone was clearly accusing us (and it was definitely us from the context) of stealing the microphone to sing, even though we had a sign asking to sing UM and Bojan was obviously pointing at us to get the microphone next (which is clear to see in all the videos of that moment).

Our friend Safursey deleted her Twitter account after Prague because people who were not there were spreading all kinds of insane rumours and unfounded accusations about the queue and Bojan's ig stories and refused to be corrected by the people who were actually involved. She got so much hate for explaining what was actually happening on the ground that she left the platform entirely, so that should tell you how toxic Twitter is.

I was feeling like such utter shit after the drama in Prague that I didn't even want to attend the concert anymore, but Safursey and @thisismyobsessionnow (Nori didn't come to Prague) came to comfort me and convinced me to still come to the gig, and I really appreciate that.

Overall an emotional roller coaster, but one I wouldn't give up for anything. We had SO much fun and met SO many people. I would do it again any time.

I'd love to read a little scene of what went down between the others when Bojan and Jan were fucking during practice haha. Like how/when did they realise they weren't gonna be joining them anytime soon and why, could they hear them, is this normal behaviour or were they like wtf. I'm especially interested in how Nace and Kris felt, I'd love to hear Kris' POV of him realising and hearing that his not-boyfriend was indeed getting fed by someone else and how Kris felt about that.

Way shorter and not an actual scene but id also love to know what Jure whispered in Naces ear to make him even hornier watching bojan and Jan make out haha!

I can do the other idea though! Have a little ficlet of Nace's POV during the Bo(Jan) dance floor flashback. Very quick thing.

"You wanna play with Joker Out you gotta party with Joker out" Jure slurred in Nace's ear, half kissing at the shell of it. The bassist had wondered how much of the rock and roll lifestyle the band would indulge in when he joined and it seemed he was getting his answer at their celebratory party to honour his first gig with them.

There was much less drugs and girls and much more bad karaoke and getting closer to each other than Nace realised. He knew what Bojan was and had been ready for him to be a flirt and a tease. It seemed the other three were just as bad though.

Jure had spent much of the night running his fingers down Nace's spine, sending shivers over his body as Kris giggled and told him about the last time Bojan had gone down on him.

Nace blushed hard as Kris keep repeating variations on "Dude you have to let him feed on you at least once. It's so worth it," Jure mumbling in agreement of how hot it was the few times they'd let him watch as payment for using his bed at the studio.

um. that was…something indeed. I was starting to become a nervous wreck from the start, but somewhere in the middle the tears began to fall??!! I’m not kidding- I had to put down the phone and drink some water to regain myself (and my breath). My brain chemistry has been forever changed by this fic. I’ve still not returned to normal. Also I don’t think I’ve ever felt this much anger towards a fictionalised version of an existing person before (I mean yeah, I should know better but I am me…)

My panic attack aside, that was a very beautifully written chapter. Definitely the most emotional one, I might say. So thank you for this lovely fic, and I still can’t believe it’s over. Queen Charlotte

made me wanna launch myself over the wall, i’ll tell u that

it was beautiful. I enjoyed seasons 1 and 2 of Bridgerton but there was something so special about Queen Charlotte. I think this showcased the strength of the writers behind this show. they took Julia Quinn’s characters and created something new and incredible with it.

In an age where streaming services and production studios insist on recreating and remaking the same stories but with stale mediocre results, this was needed (another reason why u must support the WGA strike, but I digress).

the actors and actresses were just amazing. I mean, i don’t even know what to say. I smell awards, ESPECIALLY for india, corey, and arsema. their performances were everything.

couple of highlights for me:

- brimsly and reynolds. wtf did i do to deserve them??they were so cute, my gosh. the banter, the side-eyes, the ROMANCE. that dance scene at the end was so rude though, like where is reynolds??? shonda count your days 👀.

- the SOUNDTRACK? Multiple bangers, better than season one and two combined, surprising no one. the budget had to have been high for shonda to have pulled ‘yonce for this. i’m almost fell out of my chair when “nobody gets me” starting playing. also kris bowers, doing the work of an angel.

- the chemistry between charlotte and george was potent. i… i can’t even. lord i love this fucking show.

- lady danbury.

- violet and her father had the cutest fucking relationship. him calling her “beauty” and “brains” gave me life.

- i liked agatha’s relationship with lord ledger, but mainly for agatha. watching her with lord danbury made me gag on several occasions. I too cheered when he died. loudly. i’m happy that she was able to experience it with someone that cared about her. i wanna go into depth about her story cause it’s definitely one of the heavier ones.

- i liked present day (well still in the past but you know) violet’s storyline on fulfilling her needs and desires even after the death of her husband. I think it was heartwarming, especially when this society likes to assume that women’s desire for sex just evaporates after a certain age (while men like leo dicaprio roam free, but i digress). this felt impactful. i’m excited for the future of her story.

I'm reading the HEXTALL article. And holy fucking hell, it is so damning. Beyond the whole fucking contract-gate fiasco that Sid, Kris AND Sully had to talk Geno down from there is just SO MUCH rage inducing parts. I'm gonna C&P some parts that truly stuns me.

To help sell a skeptical public on the new hockey leadership, Morehouse cooked up a story that Lemieux was heavily involved in the process.

OMFG. THEY LIED ABOUT LEMIEUX HIRING HEXTALL & BURKE?!

And the trades!!!

Hextall put Kapanen on waivers the day after fans chanted for his firing. Somewhat shockingly, the St. Louis Blues claimed him.

Hextall later enraged players and coaches by putting Brock McGinn on waivers while McGinn was enjoying some family time on the team’s annual “dad’s trip” in Nashville. Sullivan was forced to deliver the news.

Fuck, Sully really hated HEXTALL.

A four-game losing streak extended into the first week of November. Kris & Noelle Friendship

Kris and Noelle’s relationship seems pretty straightforward, with the two being childhood friends, who still like and continue to hang out with each other. They’ve known each other since childhood, a result of their families being close, and have developed a close bond still in their teenage years, as the two show a comfortable openness with each other.

...There’s a lot of fluff with just the two them goofing off with each other. It’s a lot of lighthearted fun.

Which makes the contrast with the Weird Route all the more horrifying.

- We use Noelle’s trust in Kris and general lack of confidence to coerce her into doing our bidding. (Old Stuff)

- Again, it contrasts with what we know of their relationship, since we force the two into a toxic relationship, into playing out a relationship where Noelle does whatever is asked of her, and where Kris is made to ask impossibly cruel things to Noelle.

- The pair in the Weird Route feel like a twisted funhouse version of their normal selves.

- Why this occurs with this pair isn’t well-known. You can’t ask neither Susie nor Ralsei to kill, hurt, or fight enemies once they’ve said no - the prompts disappear once they’ve made their comments. But when Noelle says ‘no’, the prompt reappears, to let us insist that she obey our commands.

- There’s also just a weird romantic undertone to the whole Weird Route, with the ‘Thorn Ring’ and complete isolation on the two. There’s some great analyses on the horror at a meta level, with the player forcing the two to break character to get the relationship they desire, but no explanation on why this happens on the level of the characters themselves. Either there is a 3rd party in-universe with the desire to create this toxic relationship, or it’s a reppressed desire from Kris themselves, since they’re the ones technically moving.

- It’s also really unlikely to be the latter, since Kris expresses pretty explicitly that they dislike and are upset by Noelle’s condition in the Weird Route. This is like the only thing we know about them in the Weird Route, so it’s pretty important.

- ...Annnd we return to not knowing what’s up here. We either have an incredibly cute friendship or, in an alternate timeline, an incredibly fucked up romance. WTF?

- This ‘lifetime childhood friends’ thing isn’t as stable as we thought. Noelle’s two statements of confidence - ’She and Kris know each other better than anyone’ & ‘Kris is one of the few people she can say No to’ - are disproven in the Weird Route when stressed.

- She did not stand up for herself when coerced.

- She fails to identify un-Kris-like actions in the Dark World.

- There’s some ambiguity here, as Noelle manages to identify our influence outside the Dark World, and she’s clearly more confident in the normal route, easily calling out Kris when they’re pranking her. But the above events in the Weird Route still stand - clear contradictions.

- Umm... Dismissing the Weird Route as an forced alteration of the narrative, Kris and Noelle seem to have fallen out of contact? They still see each other in school, and talk to each other, but Noelle repeatedly comments she’s relieved to hang out with Kris again, as friends. Which is weird, since this pair has one of the most established close friendships in the game. We don’t really see any other pair work together with this much ease.

- It’s most likely as a result of the ‘bunker incident’, but the details are up in the air as far as we know. I could easily speculate on what happened, but we really can’t know what happened just yet.

- Once again, this ‘lifetime childhood friends’ thing isn’t as stable as we thought. It’s actually pretty flexible.

- It’s still a pretty solid friendship, though, in which we see Kris and Noelle relax and goof around, implicitly trusting each other with their ‘weird’ selves.

- Okay, and like the other aspect of these two? Why I don’t want to speculate too hard on this pairs problems? This duo faces the most unneeded commentary from outside parties. 

- See: When Rudy and Catti ask Kris to protect Noelle, a well-intentioned act that coddles Noelle. 

- Also see: When Berdly and Spamton both assume Kris is trying to ‘win’ Noelle as the damsel, which is just wrong.

- Both assumptions have their issues, but this type of projection says a lot more about what the outside party thinks than what Kris and Noelle actually are.

- Trying to mold these two into a traditional model is pretty futile, since these two contrast each other so strongly.
