Ok but I LOVED the cut from Colin coming out. For many reasons which have already been said.

But mostly because of this.

Colin never wanted this. To have the perfect coming out story. To be an exemplary queer person. He just wants to live. To live as himself. And I think it's real important to show a queer person struggling with this - the idea that their life, their story, is for everyone's consumption. For everyone to look at, and dissect, each and every word. Especially with Colin being a public figure,when his words, and every single little thing you do or say, carries so much more weight if there's any whiff that you might be queer.

I think it was really important, that the actual moment he came out, those words, were only for the people closest to him. The team closing the doors behind them. The locker room, once a cage, now a safe space. In which, for a second, he could exist just as himself, Colin Hughes, the man, not the footballer, not the public figure, not the spokesperson, and not the character. Just himself, for himself.

"The team knows. And that's enough for me."

watching the scene with issac and colin at the end of episode nine hit so hard. it really mirrors my own experience with my family and my coming out. i knew they would be supportive (and they are!!) but that inherent fear of what if they don’t is always there. it was such a real scene and also an experience that i feel a lot of queer people have. and i really appreciated the fact that the show didn’t go the whole “lowkey homophobic but we’ll learn” route. the way that issac was only upset because his best friend never told him, and the admittance of “what did i do that made you never tell me” and then for colin to reply with “it wasn’t you at all, it was my own head” LOKE GODDAMN I BROKE DOWN. I BROKE DOWN IN FRONT OF MY WHOLE GODDAMN FAMILY. THIS FUCKING SHOW MAN. I have never related to a queer character more that i have related to colin hughes, his story and his whole speech about his two lives really hit. colin hughes i love you so much and god i love this show so much
