Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Side Story “BLACK ALBION”
Short story written by Koujirou (Sunrise) about Zerozaku sets in one year some time after Zero Requiem to accompany the introduction of Lancelot Albion Zero. Source: https://p-bandai.jp/tamashiiwebshouten/blackalbion/. Please inform me if you notice some mistake.
Tumblr media
First year of Light Sum*. Some time have passed since the extraordinary hero, Zero, killed the last emperor of Holy Britannian Empire, Lelouch vi Britannia.  The world that joined hands to defeat Emperor Lelouch who took hostage of the countries' leaders in his plan to conquer the world, continue to wish for peace and choose cooperation route even after Lelouch's death. With more than 80% of the world joins United Federation of Nations in the form of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Japan and China that became the center of UFN’s formation during wartime, politics were practiced with global perspective. In addition to that, as the military power is transferred to and is operated by Black Knights as delegated by UFN, no large-scale conflict ever occurred, and the world peace was preserved.  However... "We need a machine that acts as Zero's symbol." The one who suggested that was Schneizel el Britannia who serves as the Chief of Staff in UFN Supreme Council. The words of the man who's practically the world's No. 2, were not directed toward the President Sumeragi Kaguya, but to the masked man in black clothing, Zero. "....We don't." Zero asserts. Under the mask that exposed not even one part of his real face, his expression can't be read. Zero, who's present at the UFN Supreme Council meeting as CEO of Black Knights, shook his head in disagreement towards Schneizel's proposal. "However, no matter how the world as a whole is advancing toward peace, buds of conflicts will always arise. As a precaution, as Zero who slain Emperor Lelouch, you need to demonstrate your strength." Schneizel's words are reasonable. It's also clear that his words are for the sake of keeping peace. But, that's not it. The world must be peaceful. Otherwise, what did "he" bet his life for? Of course there are small seeds of conflicts. In this world that had been in war for a long time, it's natural that flames of conflicts can't be completely erased. It's natural because this world is inhabited by people who preserved their own self. Therefore, in order to prevent the conflicts from rising, it's probably a correct thing to do to assign the power to subdue conflicts to Zero the symbol. But for Zero, for Kururugi Suzaku who has now became Zero, it's not an idea he could accept that easily. "You're wrong. If Black Knights holds too much military power it would frighten the people and give birth to new conflicts instead. To the very end, we exists to maintain world peace. To that end, we're requesting the Glinda Knights to audit Black Knights." Oldrin Zevon, the head of Glinda Knights who is present at the meeting, nods in agreement.  "...." Schneizel gives an "I give up" look. As Zero has said so, Schneizel can't go against his words.
"Welcome back, Zero." After finishing the UFN Supreme Council and returning to his room in Black Knights' headquarter, Zero was welcomed by Nunnally vi Britannia who came to meet him. "I'm back, Nunnally." Suzaku takes off his mask for the first time since awhile, and shows a smile. "Today you came to talk about the schedule for humanitarian visit to Spain next month, right?" "Yes, Suzaku-sa--, I mean, Zero, sorry I always ended up troubling you..." "Ha ha, now I'm just Suzaku, Nunnally." Among the few people who knows about Zero's identity, Nunnally especially can interact with Suzaku's true self. For Suzaku who has always carried the burden of being Zero, the time spent with Nunnally was extremely important. Nunnally who became the Honorary Consultant of World Humanitarian Organization, an auxiliary organization of UFN, visited the areas where scars of war still remained, and carried out humanitarian support activities. Suzaku as Zero has a lot of opportunity to be with Nunnally. Nunnally's coming to meet to Suzaku today too was to make arrangement for their next visit. But, with a sudden emergency call calling for Zero, that purpose was never realized. "Report from UFN Supreme Council! We’ve been informed that an armed group who declared themselves as Japan Revolutionary Army has occupied Shinagawa Seaside Airport." The smile that was on Suzaku's face till just now is gone, and his expression becomes dim. "Suzaku-san..." "It'll be okay, so don't worry. I'll be back soon." To the worried Nunnally, Suzaku shows her a smile. However, his heart is not calm. ...Zero doesn't need to have power. And yet.... Suzaku picks up his mask again and walks out from the room leaving Nunnally behind.
In Black Knights commander office, the main monitor shows the presumed state of Shinagawa Seaside Airport that was taken with a long distance camera. Other information such as the Knighmares that are used in the armed uprising and the list of people suspected to be responsible for the incident, were displayed on the sub monitors. "How's the situation?" The one who answers Zero's brief question as he entered the room is General Commander Toudou Kyoushiro. "Not very good. Konishina, report the present status to Zero." Prompted by Toudou, Konishina Ryou, the captain of Squadron 3 that was selected for duty, reports to Zero through the submonitor. The armed group called Japan Revolutionary Army, with about 30 Knightmares from sky, land, and water, swiftly gained total control of Shinagawa Seaside Airport that was built on a reclamation area in Tokyo Bay. It's reported that about 4000 passengers and staffs were held hostage. "It happened an hour ago. They seem to target the blind spot of UFN Supreme Council." "How about the perpetrators’ identity?" "It's Major Bandou... no, it's Bandou Shin. A survivor from the former Japan Liberation Front." "!?" Toudou's words agitate Zero slightly. Bandou is Suzaku’s acquaintance who once taught him martial arts together with Toudou and the others back when he was still a kid before the war with Britannia started. "Why, Bandou-san... right when everyone is about to compromise and head towards peace..." Konishina grinds his teeth. "Konishina was a new recruit assigned to Bandou's troop back during Britannia's invasion 9 years ago," Toudou fills up Suzaku's conjecture. He understood that it's because Japan Revolutionary Army turned out to be the remnant of Japan Liberation Front, that Toudou assigned Konishina to be in charge of the matter.   "Japan Revolutionary Army led by Bandou, in regard to Zero eliminating Kusakabe Josui's group, raises a banner of rebellion. Zero, now it’s..." "I know, Toudou-san." From inside Suzaku's chest, an emotion that can't be expressed in words rises its head. However, his top priority is to secure the safety of the 4000 captured people as soon as possible. "I’d like to join UFN Supreme Council. This case will be handled by Black Knights." "I knew you would say so~" At the corner of Black Knights' headquarters hangar that's in preparation for sortie, a familiar machine was brought in by Rakshata. Lying on top of the equipment container, with the tobacco pipe in her hand, she points to Zero's line of sight. It's unthinkable that she's a person with many titles. "A black... Lancelot Albion." Zero shows a little bewilderment. "It's part of Joint Strike Armored Cavalry Program that had been worked on since the time of Emperor Lelouch's rule. Because we also needed to develop and conduct research on Knightmares made by Britannia, our Pearl Party was created." The one who answers his confusion is a dark skin woman with prosthetic legs, Neha Shankar. She's a researcher apprentice who participated in the decisive battle of Madrid in the past and is studying under Rakshata. "Based on the data left by Dr Lloyd, with little improvements, we managed to complete it. In term of performance it's equal to Guren Seiten Eight Elements." Explains Kagari Savitri who's transferred from Black Knights' engineering department to the Pearl Party. Good handiness, almost as if they had been preparing for this. Suzaku thinks that perhaps Schneizel had asked Rakshata in advance in anticipation for situations like this. Otherwise, the unit that bears the name Albion which means white, wouldn't be dyed in black. "I got it. Let me use this." He can't believe it, he never thought that he would ride this unit again now that he became Zero. "Please take good care of our cute Z-01Z0." "Zero... Zero, huh." As he hears the model number of the black Albion, Zero mutters to himself. "Understood. From here, I'll sortie with this Albion Zero!"
*the new calendar system I’m still not sure I got this right.

Every now and again I have a dream where BBC Merlin gets rebooted or lost episodes are recovered that are just super gay and now I’m thinking about how a reboot would go
In one dream it was like a complete redo starting from season one but we all ignore that the actors have aged fifteen years since their first appearance, but come to think of it, didn’t the show do multiple time skips between seasons so that by the time the final battle happened it’d been like ten years since Merlin first came to Camelot, but the costume designers can only age the characters so much… so reviving the show with aged up characters would easily work
But imagine that it’s a Arthur returns to fix the bullshit of modern… Albion? Yeah, that, but Arthur doesn’t get his past life memories until some inciting incident that happens in his thirties.
So he goes on a search for Merlin and instead finds the reincarnations of literally everyone else
Uther is a politician with some fucked up discrimination views
Morgana is a human rights activist and she personally knows Uther somehow but they’re not related. She also has a small business in the form of a new age and witchcraft supply shop
Gaius is a doctor. Gwen and her family run a family business around some kind of artisan craft. Lancelot has had like 50 different jobs and therefore had some absurd skills and stories. Gawain came from a rich family but they lost their fortune. He’s done model work and worked as a background extra and a stunt actor (which is where he met Lancelot, also working as a stunt actor. Because of this they know how to sword fight).
It takes Arthur the better part of a year to find Merlin, mostly because it has the potential for a lot of comedy and to really frustrate the audience. He’s also having flashbacks to his old life- leading him to regret his bigotry against magic users in light of who Merlin was and how much it fucked up Morgsna- and he begins to recognize that he was in love with Merlin
(Gwen and Lancelot get their happy romance with ZERO complications. Gwen deserves happiness! And loads of respect!)
Oh, magic begins happening now that Arthur us back. The characters slowly regain memories of their past life after meeting Arthur.
I have no idea how Merlin will arrive in the show. It’s past midnight and I’m exhausted but I needed to type up these thoughts- so please excuse my spelling errors and canon plot mistakes
Maybe I’ll add more tomorrow?

@bloomiii asked: Hey!  Do you think merlin actually hates Mordred?
Heya!  I’m assuming this is a follow-up question to the ask that @once-and-future-gay sent me the other day, and I gotta say, I love this question just as much as I did that one, so thank you!  :D  It’s a great ask - relevant one, definitely, for Season 5.
I have kind of a lot to say about it, so I’m going to put most of this reply under a cut, but the short answer is this:
No, absolutely not.  I don’t think Merlin hates Mordred.
I think Merlin hates himself.
I wrote in the previous post on this topic (which I think this ask is a response to) about the actual reasons why Merlin is in conflict with Mordred, none of which are based on personal dislike and all of which come back to Merlin knowing that he has to prevent Mordred from killing Arthur, not out of a selfish personal desire to keep Arthur safe, but because Arthur’s survival is supposed to be the thing that is going to bring peace to the land and liberate the magical world.
But Merlin, as I said in that post, does not want to be in conflict with Mordred.  He likes Mordred.  He says as much, to Gaius.  He cares about Mordred as someone who shares his oppression, as shown in the beginning of the Disir.  He agrees to keep Kara a secret from Arthur, at the beginning of 5.11.  And Mordred’s philosophy - “the love that binds us is more important than the power we wield” - is literally as close to Merlin’s own as it can be.  That is exactly how Merlin, at his core, sees the world.
Everything Merlin does to Mordred, he does for no other reason than that he thinks he has to.  (And I discussed in that other piece how Merlin is not foolish or mistaken for thinking so, either - important to keep in mind.)  But all of the things he has to do go completely against his nature, and by the time we hit the end of 5.11, I really feel that Merlin has descended into a pit of self-loathing that the show, because its ending is so poorly constructed, never allows him to climb out of.
Every decision Merlin is forced to make about Mordred makes him hate himself a little more.  The decision to let Mordred die in 5.05 is visibly traumatizing for him.  He takes no pleasure in leaving Mordred behind for Morgana in 5.10.  And 5.11 is the ugliest, most soul-killing situation Merlin has been confronted with yet - he is torn between doing what he truly wants to do and what he feels like he has to do, when Kara comes into the picture.  He initially tries to hide Kara from Arthur, because there is no part of him that wants a Druid to be captured and harmed, even if she was with Morgana’s forces.  Mordred tells Merlin, “she’s one of us,” and Merlin agrees.  “Your secret is safe with me,” he says (and those are sacred words for Merlin; they’re exactly what Lancelot says to him in 1.05; this is not something Merlin would ever promise lightly).  He doesn’t betray Mordred’s secret, and when Kara is captured (through no fault of Merlin’s own) Merlin is the one who originally urges mercy, telling Arthur, “you’re breaking his heart/you’ll lose his trust” when Arthur claims he has no choice but to pursue execution.
However, after that, when Merlin learns that Mordred plans to escape with Kara, he boomerangs back to “he’s going to run to Morgana and then he’s going to kill Arthur and I am not allowed to let that happen/magical and godly forces have all told me that the entire fate of Albion and the future of magic all depends on me preventing Mordred from killing Arthur.”  And so he tells Arthur that Mordred is planning to escape, ultimately leading to Mordred and Kara’s recapture.
But THEN, after THAT, when they’re back in custody -  Merlin urges mercy yet again.  He tells Arthur to “free them both.”  He says, “How will one more death bring about the peace we long for?”  Merlin does not want Kara to be killed.  He does not want Mordred to suffer.  He does not want any of this to have happened; he did not rat Mordred out because he wanted to; he did it because he truly believed (for legitimate reasons) that he had no choice.  Like I talked about in that previous post - Merlin, at this point in the show, feels that his life has no purpose beyond the fulfillment of the destiny that has been prophesied.  He has come to see himself as a tool, with no intrinsic worth or value beyond what he can do to ensure Arthur’s survival (and thus the establishment of peace for all people).  He hates the things he’s supposed to do, but he literally cannot see an escape for himself.  This is just what he was “born” to do.
Even as far back as Season 3 we see this helplessness growing in him:
You feel trapped.  Like your whole life has been planned out for you, and you've got no control over anything, and sometimes you don't even know if what destiny has decided is really the best thing at all.
Merlin, in 5.11, doesn’t feel like what destiny has decided is the best thing.  But he also has reached a point where he feels like he has to do what he was told.  He’s seen the future.  He’s been told by multiple magical and divine sources that Arthur is the Once and Future King who is going to build the “the world we dream of.”  And so he does things that he thinks will enable that future to arrive (like preventing Mordred from running away with Kara), but because these things go so completely against his nature and cause him such pain, he then whips around and says, “Don’t kill her.  Let them go.”  He can’t help himself from slipping back into the kind of person he truly is on the inside.
He is trapped between his true self and what he feels is an inescapable duty.  And every step he takes away from his true nature makes him hate himself more.
Kara’s interview with Arthur, where she refuses to repent her “crimes” in exchange for her life, has one of the most telling, devastating shots in the show, when she says, “It is not a crime to fight for the right to be who you are.”  The camera, in that moment, is trained on Merlin’s face, not hers:
Tumblr media
That is done on purpose.  The cinematography is trying to say something.  It wants us to look at Merlin and listen to Kara’s word’s and hear the contradiction.  It wants us to recognize that Merlin is dying inside.  The absolute MISERY locked down in his expression here!  He has been forced to do things that seem to work against the very goal he’s been told he’s trying to achieve (to have the right to be who he is), and it’s been going on for so long that it’s shattered his soul.  He listens to Kara being able to say that, proudly, without fear, and he hates himself for not being like her.
But he can’t see any way to escape the things he knows he’s supposed to do.  So ultimately, at the very end, he does nothing, and Kara’s execution proceeds.
He despises himself for it, and when Mordred escapes and runs to Morgana, Merlin’s only reaction is a dull, hollow resignation.  He doesn’t blame Mordred for whatever’s going to happen next.
He blames himself.
Tumblr media
This is, yet again, another reason why the Merlin finale is garbage storytelling.
It makes no narrative sense for the show to give us 5.11, which ends with Merlin in quite possibly the darkest and most miserable, conflicted spot he has ever been in, and to then start the next episode with him having a raucous good time at the tavern.  Merlin, after what happens with Kara and Mordred, is not going to be out laughing and cheering, playing dice, and making casual, tongue-in-cheek, meta jokes about his secret like it isn’t the most painful and soul-destroying burden he’s ever had to carry (“Ah, I knew you’d discover my secret in the end.  There is just no fooling you, my lord!”).  It is inconceivable for him to be out partying, after the previous episode.  It’s insulting to me as a viewer, that the writers thought they could show this to me as if it’s an even remotely rational direction for the story to go, as if I’m not going ask “what the HECK is going on???” when I see Merlin gleefully stumbling home like a drunken frat boy, without a care or concern in the world.
There is ZERO tonal consistency between the end of 5.11 and the beginning of 5.12.  It’s horrendous writing, and it’s why I continuously say that Merlin BBC does not actually end, it just STOPS - abruptly cut off after 5.11, with a slapdash two-episode finale tacked on, one which does not actually resolve anyone’s arcs, or address any of the central questions of the show, or follow where the narrative was naturally heading prior to that point.
Merlin’s arc with Mordred is what finally takes him to a place where he is irrevocably, inescapably confronted with the conflict that he has been struggling with from day one - how is he supposed to justify the things that Destiny is asking him to do, when what it’s asking him to do seems to be hurting the very people he’s trying to help?  How is he supposed to reconcile his responsibility to his people (and HIMSELF) with an externally-imposed responsibility to protect Arthur?  He’s been wrestling with this cognitive dissonance for years, and 5.11 is the inevitable crisis point - Kara is dead, Mordred has defected to Morgana, Merlin’s secret is OUT, and Merlin has never hated or doubted himself more.  It makes no sense for the beginning of the next episode to show us Merlin living it up at the tavern.  Merlin is tortured, at the end of 5.11.  He’s dying inside.  The next episode was supposed to be a natural progression from that moment, meaning Merlin should have had the chance to finally confront his conflict head-on, rather than having it all completely wiped away by the pile of garbage that was the finale.
The correct fallout from Mordred’s “turn” should have been a reckoning.  Merlin never wanted to be in conflict with Mordred in the first place; he hated himself for everything he had to do, and I really think the end of 5.11 took us to a place where Merlin had finally been pushed over the edge; it was the last straw.  The only correct progression from that point would have been change, and Merlin was finally desperate enough to do what he needed to do to find himself again and make things right, but we never got to see it, because the people in charge decided to completely abandon every complicated question they’d been pursuing, in favor of “actually Arthur’s the good guy and we’re gonna pretend we didn’t just spend an entire episode reminding people how Camelot is still an unjust place.”
I don’t understand it.  The same people created 5.11, too.  They wrote Kara’s righteous speech.  They framed her execution as an evil, and they framed Mordred’s flight as something Merlin and Arthur brought upon themselves.
And then they did a 180 and dumped every ethical question they ever raised.  They never let Merlin find his feet or hold his head up high, and I’m honestly never going to forgive them for that.

Geass Movie Super Ultimate Final Summary Extra Mega Sugoi Version (2/2)
Last time on Code Geass, Lelouch of the Re;surrection: Shesthaal is very cute, Lelouch blows up Shesthaal with Bitool’s Sakuradite, Shesthaal cries out for his father as he gets blown up, and there goes my interest in this movie.
Tbf though, it’s a good death scream. Imagine what kind of noises he makes in bed... he’s def an uke...
Anyway, continuing on.
Lelouch and the gang split from the prison and the container of prison staff he Geassed to help with their getaway is seen being let go. Although it took him 728 days longer to rise from the dead, Jesus Lamperouge has learned mercy.
Back in the capital at Shamna’s temple, Shesthaal’s dad, Cmdr. Forgnar, comes in and goes, “Holy shit my son died let’s go FUCK UP THE UFN” and Shamna is like, “No, let’s not.” Whether you think he actually cares or whether he wants to use this as an excuse to fuck up the UFN is up to you. However, based on the dialogue about how Cornelia is a curse word in this region, and how Forgnar doesn’t talk about his son like ever again (even other characters who aren’t even from Zilkhstan bring up Shesthaal’s “disappearance” later), it comes off as more like... Forgnar just wants an excuse to go fight Cornelia.
She asks Bitool how long ago Shesthaal died and Bitool replies it was in the afternoon, at 11am. Since it’s out of the 6 hour time limit (we’ll come back to this later), she apparently can’t do shit. Shamna says that with her prophecy, even if they’re Geass users, they can beat anyone. It shows Nunnally on the ceiling in some kind of tank. And also she has new clothing but isn’t wearing underwear because in Zilkh culture, they don’t wear underwear. This might read like a joke sentence, but it’s a 100% serious sentence.
At the UFN HQ, Schneizel is wearing glasses and looks hot. That’s all you need to know. There’s also a convo related to the plot and sending people and supplies to Zilkhstan including Lancelot’s new fortress frame coat, but I’m just gonna explain this in the next bit.
Back to the Good Guys, Sayoko observes some drop ships. Cornelia, who is now a general in the UFN (which makes her a Black Knight) has shown up with a small team of Black Knights and a Rag Tag Band from the TV series - herself, Guilford, Ohgi, Tamaki, Cecile, Nina, Anya, Jeremiah. The 8 of them, combined with Lelouch, CC, Kallen, Suzaku, Lloyd and Sayoko, plus Cornelia’s BKs, are going to save the fuck out of Nunnally.
Now, you might be asking yourself, “Why these specific people?” HMM WELL YOU SEE. None of them, aside from Cornelia and her few soldiers, are actually BKs anymore. Kallen is only a reserve member as she’s attending university. Basically, Schneizel can’t formally be like, “Wow send 1000 people to rescue Nunnally and mobilize the Black Knights” which is why he’s sending people who are mostly not involved with the Black Knights on this SUPER SECRET MISSION. (They talk about this back when CC first meets up with Kallen/Sayoko/Lloyd.)
And you might also be asking yourself... “Wait, what about Tohdoh, Gino, Xingke”, etc. What about those other Black Knights? HMM WELL YOU SEE. Xingke died, and the rest aren’t very popular characters, so plot-wise they stuck with the Black Knights giving the story and animators excuses to not include them in the main plot except for something really brief later.
Anyway, Lelouch has taken up the Zero costume again while CC is upset they haven’t run away to fuck like rabbits yet so she drinks a martini. And Cornelia is the only person with a brain, so she is like, “Dude, what the fuck? Am I supposed to be OK with this while Euphy and Darlton are dead?” Everyone else is like down to help Lelouch and Cornelia is not having this shit. Lelouch convinces her by taking off his Zero mask and sincerely asking his older sister for help.
Cornelia is like, “Hell yeah we’re gonna save Nunnally” after this but first since no one has seen each other in a while, they need to party first. Kallen and CC have some girl time finally but then proceed to fail the Bechdel test and talk about Lelouch.
Ohgi gives Lelouch a USB drive from Kaguya then tries to kill himself even though he has a wife and a child at home. Lelouch, without turning around, knows Ohgi is trying to kill himself so he forgives him and say it’s okay because he is merciful Jesus now. It’s chilly at night in the desert and Cornelia’s outfit is like sleeveless and zettai ryoiki so she’s walking around in the Zero jacket and gives Suzaku a drink.
Honestly, just let Cornelia be Zero.
Lelouch signals Suzaku up to the water tower, where they talk about how Lelouch understands the plot regarding his resurrection as well as the viewer (as in he doesn’t) and as far as he knows he could roll over and die at any time. Then an extremely misplaced Ali Project insert song plays while Lelouch watches a video from Ohgi’s wedding with lots of characters conveniently gathered at once... one of which happens to be Nunnally.
Also, Cornelia’s tits are one of the most well-drawn things in this movie next to Shesthaal’s hair when he’s in the cockpit. Honestly, I appreciate you, Sunrise.
SO, keikaku time. Instead of trying to explain this chronologically, I’m just gonna explain it... not chronologically.
Shamna’s Geass is to send her memories back in time 6 hours when she dies, so she effectively knows what’s going to happen and Zilkhstan can prepare for it. In an interview, Lelouch’s VA Fukujun compares this to “uploading her memory to Cs’ World and then downloading it” since Cs’ World has no concept of time. So, basically, the reason why Zilkhstan has been successful is because Shamna is fucking save scumming.
It is implied she already reset time at least once in the movie by now. The first is that at the start of the movie, Shalio remarks about how Zero moved to the place that Shamna said he would, so Shalio and the other KMFs are able to set up a trap under Suzaku in advance. I don’t know why she can’t chain this 6hrs -> back another 6hrs.
Lelouch and co initiate their plan. Lelouch successfully outmaneuvers Zilkhstan at every single place possible: Suzaku and Kallen are on the flats in Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice and wipe out all of the mooks. Everyone else is also able to make it to their destination. Zilkh soldiers have been Geassed to blow up their bases, Bitool can’t make it to his Guard Scorpion mech, etc.
Finally, Lelouch rides up to Shamna’s temple on the Mahoraba (the one Suzaku didn’t wreck at the start of the movie). Shamna goads Lelouch by hitting a button that auto-kills Nunnally in her tank. Lelouch responds by gunning Shamna down immediately. Shamna sends her memories back in time 6 hours.
Shamna is bathing with Shalio when she has a “prophecy”. We see she has a Code on her lower belly in this scene. She calls up Forgnar and explains the plot to him. This time around, Zilkhstan is prepared for all of Lelouch’s bullshit. Lelouch starts to despair and is almost shot down in the Mahoroba when Anya and CC show up and rescue his dumb noodle ass. Lelouch and CC co-pilot the Gekkoei. Lelouch has an existential crisis as he freaks out about his plans not working while everyone around him also freaks out about the plan not working and asks him for further instructions. And I mean like, literally everyone except for uhmm Cornelia? I think?
There’s a scene in R2 where Suzaku debuts the Lancelot Albion. Bismarck is there in Galahad and uses his Geass to fight Suzaku. Lelouch then rings up Suzaku and goes, “Dude, this being broadcasted worldwide, don’t fucking embarrass me”. Suzaku then goes on to use his live Geass to somehow overpower the Knight of One.
If this were a scene in the movie, it would be like, the Knight of One dodges one of Suzaku’s attacks or something and then Suzaku freaks the fuck out and goes, “OH NO, THE KNIGHT OF ONE HAS A GEASS. LELOUCH, WHAT DO I DO? MICROMANAGE ME AND GIVE ME SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS.” That is honestly what this whole sequence feels like.
Eventually, CC puts a gun to his head, out edgelords him, and convinces him to get his shit together. Lelouch gives her orders to give to everyone else because Geass doesn’t work on her. Thanks to Tamaki’s stupidity, he then uses the Zilkh public channel to declare that it’s time for the final phase of this mission. Suddenly, everyone becomes competent again and CC starts issuing commands to people. CC asks him what “final” means, and Lelouch replies it means nothing.
We then go through 30(?) implied time resets. While it doesn’t show time resetting literally 30 some times, it is implied that Lelouch gets 1 plan to work, then Shamna resets time and is ready for his new plan next time. We know it’s 30-ish because Lelouch has 8 folder plans he gives to CC, and also has 22 theories about what the enemy Geass user’s Geass is and he goes down the list eliminating them.
Something that I think English viewers missed from the American theater screenings is that CC does not retain their memories because Shamna’s Geass only affects herself. So, essentially, from Lelouch’s POV, he’s just going down the list until something works. From Shamna’s POV, she goes back and prepares to counter him every time she sees his next move.
On the last loop, Lelouch’s last ditch effort to figure out Shamna’s Geass is to bluff her by saying, “I have the same Geass as you”. Shamna freaks the fuck out and tells her guards not to kill Lelouch. Lelouch can tell from this reaction what her Geass is, so he Geasses her to sleep, and also sets a bomb that will go off in 10-11-12-whatever hours. (E.g. even if Shamna resets time, she’ll be back in time but it’ll be when she’s sleeping.)
Lelouch and CC try to wake Nunnally but she isn’t responsive. CC deduces that her soul/KOKORO/whatever is not in her body. However, they set Shamna’s temple to blow up in [X] hours. Lelouch and CC use Shamna’s system to enter the metaphysical world. CC goes to confirm something, then she will leave to move their bodies so they don’t die IRL.
CC confronts Shamna and learns the plot: “I want to remake the world.” Recall that in R2, Marianne and Charles needed 2 Codes to fuck Cs’ World. Shamna has 1 Code on her womb. Charles is dead, she doesn’t know Lelouch has one. Seemingly, she tried to use Nunnally has a make shift second Code due to her connection to the magic world cause of her family. (Her “wavelengths” are the same as Charles’s.)
Ah, yes, an older sibling with a Geass who has a younger wheelchair bound sibling tries to fuck the whole world. Hmm NEVER HEARD THAT PLOT BEFORE. Shamna wishes to stay in the metaphysical realm so she can see Shalio as he passes by. CC warns her not to “leave her [heart/essence/whatever] behind”. Interpretation is that CC is saying, “Can you please not fuck this up like how Charles did” [by leaving himself behind].
In the real world, CC, Tamaki and Ohgi have moved Lelouch and Nunnally’s bodies away from the temple. Lelouch finds Nunnally. The two get swallowed by black particle bullshit until Lelouch confesses that Geass is his sin (or something... I don’t actually remember what he says before the “uhh this is my sin” part). After, rainbow fucking magic hands appear to “catch” them, and Lelouch remarks that these are the people who helped earlier. (Earlier as in, when CC reached for Lelouch.)
The sub-plots that occur during all of these time resets are as follows:
Ohgi and Tamaki steal a KMF by distracting the pilot with camels crossing the road then getting on top of the KMF and beating the pilot up. Then they make hot pot while waiting for orders from Zero.
Sayoko ditches Ohgi and Tamaki to meet up with the science crew who can’t escape the city because Qujappat is after them. Cecile gets shot during the skirmish (all 30 fucking times) and Nina kills Qujappat by disconnecting her KMF’s energy filler power lines and dropping them in water to electrocute him and the other assassins to death.
Gino and Tohdoh (and others) are trying to talk to Zilkhstan official politic-y people about the Nunnally and Zero being MIA thing as members of the Black Knights. Gino asks to know why Zilkhstan’s Official Elite Bodyguard Captain Something Something Rich Pretty Boy PR Person Shesthaal is mysteriously missing from this meeting as he was supposed to be there. Milly, who is watching events unfold at the TV station, also asks about where he went.
Suzaku fights Shalio with his new Lancelot (ugly as) siN and its thicc frame coat. Shalio beats him in the frame coat. Suzaku purges the frame coat and then beats Shalio. However, by this point, Shalio’s body is seemingly at its limit (he’s bleeding out of his eyes), and honestly it feels like a free kill. At one point, Suzaku asks Shalio, “Why the fuck did you ruin peace etc” and Shalio replies that he has to be the ultimate warrior (implied: for his sister) so he can’t do this hand-holding peace shit and his country has nothing but fighting.
Kallen gets trapped by Bitool’s guard scorpion mech in the Guren Special Type (also thicc). She purges the frame coat and magical warp speed jumps out of the energy sphere she’s trapped in, then blows up Bitool with her good ole laser knife.
Cornelia and Guilford are on the bridge. Cornelia fights Forgnar, who then tries to sacrifice himself and orders his troops to kill both him and Cornelia. Cornelia encourages him to find a peaceful solution.
After all of this bullshit resolves, Shamna’s temple blows up and we see a visual representation of her being exploded inside of the Thought Elevator where CC last saw her. In the real world, Lelouch and Nunnally chat about being together again. The scene between them ends without you hearing his response to her. CC skips town, but not before Kallen gives CC her bootleg Cheese mascot.
Lelouch catches up to CC (out of breath, ofc). CC says something about going to find other Geass users like Shamna (I don’t remember the exact details cause Shesthaal has nothing to do w/this scene, sorry). Lelouch goes with her, taking up the name LL to match CC’s non-human name. CC pauses, then blushes and makes a moe anime waifu noise.
However, it is nowhere near as cute as Shesthaal’s “umu” or when he asks where Zero is in the prison (”Zerooooo?”). Lmao fucking get rekt CC he’s cuter than you and also has long green hair.
In the post-credits scene, Lelouch and CC have clothes from a 2000s Hot Topic - CLAMP-looking black gothic outfits. Something that like... no one has mentioned so far is that Lelouch is wearing a rose choker that matches Shirley’s rose earrings from the ending cards. Shirley also showed up in a mall earlier in the movie. Shirley... was shopping at Hot Topic for Lelouch and CC and bought herself earrings while she was there? Idk.
Lelouch recites the same Power of the King speech that CC gave him in the first episode of the anime, but with a couple differences. He says the power MAY isolate you, not that it will, and also that if you suck at Geass, he’ll take it away from you.
~ ThE eNd ~
OKAY YEAH SO I didn’t really enjoy this movie a lot. You have about 5 seconds to mourn Shesthaal before Daddy Schneizel shows up in glasses. It’s like you’re eating a cute little salad and you’re not done when your entree shows up. (Your entree. In glasses. And looking hot and appetizing as fuck.)
Pretty boy stuff aside, my opinion is generally that the main plot stuff is a bunch of “whatever” but the smaller stuff is good. Like... Tamaki and Ohgi making hot pot in a KMF after knocking out the pilot by distracting them with camels crossing the road (semi-foreshadowed earlier when Tamaki and Ohgi were hiding out near some sleeping camels) was some pretty great character interaction that actually led up to Lelouch’s, “Yo, final phase” speech on the open channel.
Shalio knowing that Suzaku is Zero BECAUSE OF THE FUCKING SPINKICK was pretty great too. There are lots of small things that have nothing to do with Lelouch and CC that I found way more memorable and Code Geass-y. Even just reading interviews is fun - Nobbu is a good VA and there’s an interview where he’s like, “Taniguchi told me, ‘Your dad is Akio Ohtsuka’ and I instantly understood”... lol...
The stuff with, “Everyone is useless, good thing Lelouch is here” was kind of physically painful to watch. From a thematic POV, we see the compare/contrast - Nunnally able to live without Lelouch but Shalio unable to do the same without Shamna. And also with how Zilkhstan are a bunch of headless chickens without Shamna micromanaging them with her prophecies yet all of the old TV cast magically become competent again after Lelouch says their plan is now entering the final phase.
E.g. we see how a ~decorated war hero~ like Cmdr. Forgner was also reliant on her explaining the plot (maybe it’s for the best poor Shesthaal died before finding out everything about his dad and his country were big fucking shams ;_;). However, just because I understand why it’s in the movie doesn’t mean I have to like it. ‘_>’
It was like watching uh, idk, Advent Children or Nadesico: Prince of Darkness or something. Which was also about the expectation level for this movie, but I actually felt fatigue kick in around the 1hr 20min mark...

Code Geass Deadblog: Episode 47
Only one episode covered this time, for a specific reason... Long story short, I’ve changed my mind and I’ll give episodes 48 and 49 the full liveblog treatment, in addition to the finale! More info at the bottom.
To no one's surprise, Lelouch's first action as Emperor of Britannia was to destroy Britannia. Tore down the mausoleum housing Emperors and Empresses past, up-heaved and dismantled all manner of noble cliques and stations... And who was to oppose him? Essentially every important political figure had just fallen under his supreme command in one fell swoop. Everything seemed to be going well, and the rest of the world looked upon Lelouch's actions with favorable eyes. The Black Knights, the sole people who knew Lelouch was once Zero, were caught in a rock and a hard place and didn't really know what the hell to do.
Aaaaaand then Lulu went full tyrant. Squashing out all possible resistance from other nations, and Commanding entire rooms full of soldiers to become his "slaves." His words, not mine! Yeah, I suppose that Lelouch no longer has any reason to make a world for Nunnaly, right? At this point, I guess Lulu decided to kick up his feet, have some fun, and make a world just for himself. Oh, and then he prepared to "spill an ocean of blood" in order to make Euphemia's massacre all but forgotten. Clearing her name, in a very very very twisted, fucked up way.
It was at this point I started sweating nervously. Perhaps the most distressing aspect of this plot was Suzaku, who was totally onboard. It's like... Dude! I know you gave in and decided that ends do justify means, but HOLY SHIT, THESE MEANS ARE HARDCORE, MY DUDE!
Almost to prove that point, Suzaku next proceeded to kick the asses of four former Knights of the Round, who flew in to attack the Imperial Palace, citing their loyalty to the late Charles. Man. This felt like watching the apocalyptic bad ending to a video game. Indeed, the Lancelot Albion, a 9th Generation KnightMare Frame, broke the Knights of the Round like they were toys. Two nameless Knights died in seconds, while Gino was spared (but sent hurtling to the ground below). Suzaku found actual challenge in facing Bismarck, whose Geass power let him... See the future! Wow, a Geass power that actually doesn't do anything to other people? That's a first!
And man, I gotta say, it was supremely cool how Suzaku managed to defeat him. Suzaku gave himself over to Lelouch's command to Live. Suzaku's geass-controlled auto-pilot, therefore, broke the rules. Bismarck couldn't see Suzaku's future because him doing so would make Suzaku die, but... Suzaku couldn't die! In fact, I wonder if Bismarck simply misunderstood how his own Geass works. He said he's only ever used it once before (against Marianne, as a matter of fact). Perhaps it was the case that he didn't so much as see the future, but saw people's intentions. That would definitely make it a bit easier to understand.
Tumblr media
Regardless, Suzaku killed him in style and Lelouch took the opportunity to broadcast it to the world... Then followed it up by announcing that Britannia was immediately joining the United Federation of Nations. Therefore, the world would truly be united under one banner. What a baller! The sweet, sweet cherry on top was Lelouch's declaration of where the negotiations would be held... On a certain neutral ground, not controlled by either side... Japan. Specifically, Ashford Academy. BECAUSE OF-FREAKING-COURSE.
Once I saw the massive crowd of people around the Academy, and saw Lelouch's suspicious plan to go there alone with naught but C.C. and a few guards by his side, I recalled Lelouch's promise to spill an ocean of blood. It was at this point I started sweating uncontrollably, flooding my apartment with ankle-deep water. Before a slaughter, though, a little heartbreak: Kallen received Lelouch, and per his will, they took a detour and managed to speak alone. Kallen managed to ask every question she could have wanted to ask. Asked what she is to him. Asked why he told her that she needed to live. Even surprised him with a kiss on the lips... But Lelouch's stone-faced silence was an answer that rang clear. "You mean nothing to me." With finality, they both left with the knowledge they'd never speak to each other like that again.
The negotiations took me by surprise. Kaguya, Tohdoh, and Ohgi spoke to Lelouch with conviction, stating that due to how votes for laws and other such matters were made based on the percentage of population in a nation works, Britannia joining them would mean Lelouch would control the majority of the world's votes-- and therefore, all of it. Lelouch was given a choice between two disadvantageous outcomes to help balance that, but instead, Lelouch posed a whimsical question. What is the most important trait of a ruler? Destruction, he said. The will to destroy everything... even oneself. Uh... Uh-oh.
Naturally, Lelouch promptly declared war on the entire world. Because of course he would. The Lancelot rocketed into the room and held the world's leaders at gunpoint, and Lelouch kindly asked them to begin the democratic voting. What a stand-up guy! Elsewhere, his main forces began moving in on Japan, and Nina, carrying some manner of technology with her, was apprehended by some Geassed citizens. That's PROBABLY for the best. Seriously, has Nina done one good thing this entire show? Stop her before anything starts!
The episode ended with what had to be the most "this show is such ridiculous bullshit, and I love the fuck out of it" moment it has ever had. Schneizel made a move of his own... The flying fortress, the Damocles, three kilometers in size, nuked the Imperial City/Palace with a massively powerful FLEIJA. Not a single trace of the city remained. But you know what the utterly absurd, ridiculous, amazing, and stupid, and stupidly amazing, amazingly stupid cherry on top was? Schneizel paged through to Lelouch and revealed that he had someone with him who he wanted to make the true ruler. Nunnaly. Nunnaly, who promptly declared herself Lelouch and Suzaku's enemy.
Tumblr media
I knew exactly who it freaking was the moment Schneizel made the slightest hint that he was talking about someone other than himself. And I immediately launched into a mad cackle, because I knew that the show WOULD be willing to ascend to such levels of cheesy bullshit... Boy. This show really is the best kind of stupid. It really is.
It's so twisted and perfect, it really is. Lelouch had no morals to cling to, did his thing, then went off the point of no return in a grand scheme. Then, the MOMENT he did so, Schneizel pulled the rug out from under him and revealed that-- oh, hey-- Lelouch's moral compass and reason for living is, in fact, still alive. And she just got every reason to freaking loathe him and become his enemy.
What a trip. In fact, the show has become such a trip, I think I’m going to change my plans! Due to the meaty content of the last few episodes, and the inspired turn of events here, I think I want to give the final three episodes the full Liveblog treatment! So I hope you’ll join me for that!
Other Notes:
There was a bit where the show lingered on a three-story staircase in Nina's lab room, and Rivalz arrived at the top with pizza, and then with a camera cut he apparently walked down all those stairs in a flash. Was kinda funny.
Lelouch got himself a snazzy hat. I'm so proud of him.
Tamaki remains MVP. I loved his flip-flopping on Lelouch, between undying buddy to hate. I also loved how he shut up someone who also complained about him; Only Tamaki gets to insult his worst nemesis-buddy!
Schneizel openly stated to Lulu that every single FLEIJA warhead is stocked on the Damocles. Therefore, that is clearly not true.
Gino's fate was left unanswered. Might he swoop in as an unexpected ally later? Suzaku's words did have him questioning his own motives and loyalties, swaying to the side of Lelouch and Britannia... Meanwhile, Anya was spotted chillin' with Schneizel and Cornelia, casually updating her digital diary, so I guess she's her old self still.

Lancelot “Requiem”
While i'm kind of jaded that it's just a recolored Albion with an extra feather, it still looks good, regardless.
I like how it's posture mirrors Lelouch's Zero.
It really shows how Suzaku discarded his own identity, to adopt Zero’s. It shows even in how his Knightmare fights and moves now. Majestic, nice attention to detail on Sunrise’s part.

Say, you think you could translate the descriptions the pictures over at 4channel under at /m/ section under Code Geass General . Near at the bottom it shows 2 images of that new variant now known as the Lancelot Albion Zero.
Tumblr media
Top: The supervalis can deform into 4 forms without replacement; energy storage mode, normal mode, Hadron mode, and full burst mode.
Bottom: The energy wing which was remodeled by Rakshata Chawla transforms its form during battle mode and supports the performance of the strongest KMF in both defense and offense.
Tumblr media
It can reproduce the shield mode that's confirmed in "Lelouch of the Resurrection" special reports video.
Tumblr media
After Lelouch's death. "Black Knight CEO" Zero's personal KMF developed based on Schneizel el Britannia's proposal. Improved by Par Party led by Rakshata based on Lancelot Albion's research data developed by Count Lloyd Asplund. Boasts equal performance to Guren Seiten Eight Elements. It symbolizes the White Devil that fell into the world's terror, dyed in black and became "Black" Knight, also symbolizes the peace that's brought into the world by Zero.

Lelouch of the Resurrection interview with Producer Koujiro from Great Mechanics G Spring ‘19
Koujiro is actually referred to as “Taniguchi” (his family name) here, but I used his first name so that people won’t confuse him with Director Goro Taniguchi. Also, I skipped parts that seem redundant.
Tumblr media
—In this movie, other than 1-year-post-R2 characters playing active roles, there are many new KMF models and new flying KMFs like Lancelot siN for example. However, considering that the world is peaceful after Zero Requiem, there should be no need for any of these new KMFs. Story-wise, what is the background of these KMFs?
Koujiro: There was a plan called “Joint Strike Armored Knights Program” that had been worked on since the time Lelouch became Britannia’s emperor, which was intended to boost armaments compatibility, including Britannia KMFs and other KMFs that had evolved uniquely to each region. As part of that plan, KMFs such as Lancelot siN and Guren Special Type were developed due to various circumstances and measurements. Though the world was supposed to have no need for such high specification KMFs, Schneizel who’s engaged in persevering the peace that Zero wants to maintain, considers all kinds of situations, and proceeds ahead with the plan.
Tumblr media
—— —— —— —— —— ——
> Where did Zilkhstan’s KMF came from?
From the scenes in the movie, it can be seen that Zilkhstan owns Britannia-series KMF like Glasgow, Japanese-made KMF such as Gekka, or Europia-series KMF such as Alexander. “Koujiro: Aah, those KMFs are goods they take home from their mercenary business activities. They didn’t just bring home money, valuables, and information on various weapons, but they also invited engineers from other countries.” And so the KMF Nagid Shu Mein that Shalio piloted can be said to be the ‘fruit’ of that practice.
Even though they are outsourced, it’s still unprecedented for a small country to be able to keep their own KMFs. “Koujiro: As a country that go to battles as their source of income, they saw Britannia’s KMF during invasion of Japan, and thought how the next era will be the era of KMF, so they’ve been working on KMF since long time ago.”
Tumblr media
> United Federation of Nations and Black Knights
Led by United States of Japan and Chinese Federation, UFN was originally created to contend with Holy Britannian Empire. Though it can be said that UFN has lost its original significance with Holy Britannian Empire becoming a republic in Kowa era, it’s still needed to maintain the peace in the post-war world, similar to the presence of United Nations in our real world. As the only military division under UFN, Black Knights retained the same name as when it was founded by Zero, but the nature of the organization differs greatly. “Koujiro: Although they just appeared for a bit in “Resurrection”, Glinda Knights that have taken the role as observer at the end of “OZ the Reflection”, exists in a form of mutual monitoring with Black Knights.”
> Is Kowa era really peaceful?
In the opening narration, it was said that after Zero Requiem, from the first year of Kowa to second year of Kowa, peace has lasted for one year. “Koujiro: It’s not that there wasn’t any military engagements. Although there wasn’t any major conflict between nations, there were battles on the level of minor incidents, and some conflicts that were contained by Black Knights.”
Tumblr media
> Lancelot & Shinkiro
For the fans of “Code Geass” series, the representative of Suzaku’s KMF is Lancelot. The citizens depicted in “Code Geass” world also think the same. “Koujiro: Lancelot is KMF piloted by Kururugi Suzaku, Emperor Lelouch’s knight, in other words it was a symbol of evil KMF.  Suzaku once tried to pilot a black Lancelot called Albion, but people were really frightened by it. Therefore, a Shinkiro-series KMF, Mahoroba Type 0 was developed. Yet because there’s a chance people will still be frightened by this, Suzaku used Mahoroba Type 1 that has different color and limited specs, made for ceremonial purpose."
> Nagid Shu Mein
“Koujiro: Nagid Shu Mein is Zilkhstan’s original KMF. That being said, Zilkhstan itself didn’t have the technological capability to develop KMF, so it’s most likely designed by engineers from abroad like Britannia or India. It has feature that made use of float-system technology around its joints. Unlike other KMF it moves as if it has no weight, a bit more like floating, it has innovativeness that can’t be found in KMFs from other countries.”
> Gekkoei
A large flying KMF. It’s a double seat type and is assumed to be commander type KMF. “Koujiro: The order from Director Taniguchi for this KMF was “A 'stage' where Lelouch and C.C. can stand on together”. In the movie, Lelouch saw the machine and thought it was still incomplete, this is due to the lack of legs. In term of its weaponry too, at present it’s only equipped with machine gun.”
Tumblr media
> Treatment on various aspects post Zero Requiem
In the previous decisive battle, UFN came out as the winner while Britannia the loser. Essentially, the losing side will be treated as the ‘villain’ by the winning side. Just like in our real world America (GHQ) as the winner of Pacific War purged Japan’s public officials as a measure, there’s a tendency for people who held key positions in Holy Britannian Empire to be ousted from their position after the war. “Koujiro: Cornelia is a member of royal family so it wouldn’t be strange even if she was positioned as general, but at the moment her rank is that of lieutenant general. The reason being there’s a concern if royal family was given too much power,  it could give rise to another crisis.”
Tumblr media
> Nunnally kidnapping incident in global perspective
“Koujirou: This incident known as “Puzzlement in Hashvess”, is a small incident that can be covered up by reporting it as Zilkhstan’s military training, which is how it's seen from global perspective. For people who lives in that world, the peaceful times continue with no differences before and after the incident.”
> Changes in C.C.’s psychology
Initially, C.C. has a strong image as a non-human being with detached attitude, but in this movie she shows quite a deep attachment towards Lelouch. “Koujiro: When C.C. fought with Kallen in her Lancelot Frontier and lost to Kallen, there’s a line “To think I still care about winning or losing...” that she said with self-deprecating sentiment. At that point she has already deeply attached to Lelouch. On the other hand Kallen who responded to C.C.’s “It’s your win” with “Who cares about things like that” and cut the communication line, had temporarily sorted out her feelings.”
————————
—Shamna and Shalio are the ‘villains’ judging from their characters placement, but judging from their action they are not villainous.
Koujiro: “Code Geass” has no villain that is evil for the sake of being evil. Each character has their own hopes and desires, and takes action for to achieve that purpose. Shamna and Shalio are also like that. Kidnapping Nunnally and interrogating Zero, are done for the sake of realizing their wish.
—Boys and girls characters with extreme personality who insist to have their own way seems to be very “Geass”-like, however as they became adults, or rather as they grew up, the characters seem to grow milder, actually the characters that appeared in “Lelouch of the Resurrection” give off that kind of impression. So I wondered how the next story will be constructed.
Koujiro: That’s something Director Taniguchi has addressed in interviews, for example in Lelouch’s case, he said we shouldn’t make “rebellion” as Lelouch’s identity. I also well agree with him. The reason why Lelouch rebelled against his homeland Britannia in “Lelouch of the Rebellion” was because he had no choice but to do so. If for argument sake Lelouch seems to become mild in this movie, it’s probably because as a human, going through Zero Requiem had changed him. As with other characters, Code Geass characters changed dynamically as they get involved with other characters and overcome life events, so the impression may seem different from the time of “Lelouch of the Rebellion”.

Resurrection Opening Scene Subbed
My humble translation was turned into sub by @watashikissu. Check it out for more comfortable viewing. If anyone knows what Suzaku actually said at min 04:13, it would be very much appreciated.
vimeo
Also, as an insight to why Mahoroba (the purple Shinkiro-ish KMF) was made for ceremonial use and only had swords, check these:
Black Albion side story
Excerpt/summary of continuation of Black Albion included in HobbyJapan
Q&A with Koujiro from Oudou cheering screening event. Near the end of that post.
TL;DR: People were frightened by Lancelot Albion Zero, they associated it with Lancelot the “white reaper” so Suzaku didn’t use that one, while the new KMF shouldn’t be too strong because people would be intimidated if Zero had the latest KMF with the latest weapons.

[Trans] Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Re; Ch05
Source.
Tumblr media
Year 2018 a.t.b. Lelouch vi Britannia who attained the superpower Holy Britannian Empire in his hands, proceeded the reformation one after another.  On his side, there was a direct knight of the previous Emperors. An existence that’s said to exceed Knights of Round. It was the figure of Kururugi Suzaku, the Knight of Zero.
Tumblr media
The country that possesses the largest amount of Sakuradite, Japan. The country where Zero was born, Japan. The country where FLEIJA was dropped over for the first time, Japan. The son of Kururugi Genbu, the last Prime Minister of that Japan, Kururugi Suzaku. He who was called ‘the traitorous knight’, the only one he wouldn’t betray, is it his allegiance to Emperor Lelouch? Or....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cecile: Initial startup. Start from phase 20.  Operator: Energy filler, installed. Full start, confirmed. Energy filler output level: 30 seconds to reach critical voltage.
Tumblr media
The strongest knight, the strongest sword.
Operator: Core Luminous phase transition. Yggdrasil Drive confirmed to activate.
Tumblr media
Lloyd: ...so, what are you gonna do, Your Majesty? About the aforementioned problem. Lelouch: Hm, I obtained Britannia for that purpose, but... C.C.: Is that really what Schneizel thinks to do?
Tumblr media
Lelouch: Yes. The previous information, and the fact that Cambodia’s Tromo institution has departed from Britannia. If you consider those facts together, there’s only one thing that becomes clear. I have to advance my plan to the next stage before Schneizel takes action...
Operator: Master setup.
Tumblr media
Operator: Z-01/Z master entry, confirmed. Establishment of Gamma child interface and man-machine interface, confirmed. Yggdrasil resonance, confirmed. Rejection reaction is weak. Stress reaction is weak.
Tumblr media
Operator: Everything’s within allowable range.
Lelouch: What’s wrong? Some subordinate: Your Majesty, the Knight of Rounds are heading here with Knight of One as the vanguard!
Tumblr media
Some subordinate: We’ve only been able to confirm the number of Knight of Rounds machines, but there are 4 of them! ...not only that, they’re also the unit under direct command of previous Emperor...
Tumblr media
Bismarck: We are those who vowed allegiance to Emperor Charles.  Dorothea: We won’t acknowledge such act of usurpation of the throne!
Tumblr media
Suzaku: Lancelot Albion, ME boost.
Tumblr media
Cecile: Lancelot Albion, dispatch!
Tumblr media
???: Interception troop!? But there’s only one unit...
Tumblr media
Bismarck: So it’s Albion!?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monica: So this is the 9th generation KMF’s...!!
Tumblr media
Gino: Come to your senses, Suzaku!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lelouch: Truly, Suzaku is strong.
Tumblr media
Lelouch: The son of State of Japan’s last Prime Minister. Suzaku who became an honorary Britannian and joined the army after Japan’s defeat to Britannia. However, he should’ve had no experience piloting KMF.
Tumblr media
Lelouch: And yet, he piloted Lancelot, and kept churning result in battles.
Tumblr media
Lelouch: And Suzaku’s strength is not only that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Suzaku: Why Lancelot’s track is..!?
Tumblr media
Suzaku: He did it again! Is he able to read my movement? ...but! Lelouch(on screen): Suzaku. As planned, the video of this battle will be shown all over the world.  Suzaku: Yeah. For the sake of Zero Requiem, I can’t afford to lose!
Tumblr media
Lelouch: That’s why, you have to... LIVE! Suzaku: Yes, Your Majesty!
Tumblr media
Lelouch: It’s not some ordinary mental prowess. The “live” geass that I gave him, as opposed to it...
Tumblr media
Suzaku: Even if you can read my movement, if I do this...!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lelouch: If you and I are together, there’s nothing we can’t do. Right? Suzaku. Lelouch: To the whole world!

You said 'a continuation of said side story in the newest HobbyJapan issue' in your latest reply. Where can I read that continuation?
On monthly Hobby Japan Feb issue, which was released on 12/25. I only found a brief summary and some excerpts from here: https://www.weibo.com/2588727474/H8PFKvwsk.
Tumblr media
Translation of summary from weibo:
[…]the story is roughly about Suzaku, as Zero, quickly suppressed the terrorists. The terrorists then shot down a plane in their dying breath. With Black Lancelot, Suzaku helped the plane to make a successful emergency landing. The passengers who landed safely, saw the Black Lancelot drenched in blood and were extremely frightened.
