Helluva Boss Trailer Analysis!
Yes, I watch this.  Yes, I like it.  No, I won’t argue with you about it.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s just say that I was up when the trailer dropped, and was still up for a bit after.  I’ve watched it so many times now, just absorbing everything, and now it’s time to break it down.
I’ve seen a few breakdowns already, but I noticed that there were a few things people hadn’t mentioned.  So I’m tossing my hat in the ring, let’s see if we can figure out what Vivziepop has in store for us!
I’ll be breaking down by scene, as well as go over voiceovers and predictions real quick, so prepare for a read after the cut!
Ok, first, had to laugh at Millie’s Peppermint Vodka Molotov Cocktail.  Creative, but what a waste of vodka :(  The background is of a beach, but she’s not in beach clothes (let’s face it, a bikini would probably kill Moxxie)
Moxxie is shooting at something while he’s swinging from a rope in a deserted theater.  Piano on the floor, and a sun pattern on the back wall
Blitzø (thanks for the copy/paste, Google) cleaving a blonde in half with a baseball bat.  Damn, he stronk!
Diss Summar’, with the little doodles!  So cute :3
Drunk/drugged/in shock Moxxie, poor Millie, and something big bursting out from the water behind.  Tied to first scene?
Stolas’ ‘Special Access’ bit from the Sneak Peeks, talking about the Harvest Moon festival in Wrath
Moxxie and Blitzø in a green lit room, looks like a two-way mirror on the wall.  Interrogation?
Correction to ‘Diss Season’ XD  Hopefully that means we’ll get an episode before spring, but if they need more time, that’s understandable
Glammed up Stolas at some kind of burlesque, owned by Asmodeus ‘Ozzie’, Prince of Hell’s Lust circle.  Wonder why he’s there...
CHERUBS!!!  Also from the Sneak Peeks, we know that this is a commercial, and that the TV showing said commercial gets blown up a few seconds later
Angry Blitzø, probably yelling at Moxxie, being scared shitless by a hellhound behind him.  I think this is a repo/impound/chop-shop guy who took IMP’s van, as in a later scene, they’re shown in a fence with other cars, especially because Blitzø yells ‘RUN’ at the end of the scene
Loona and Blitzø filming someone’s misery (again, probably Moxxie).  They’re in western outfits, but they’re probably still in Hell
Tentacle wrapping around drugged Moxxie and taking him, too fast for Millie to react and stop it.  Again, looks like it’s tied to the first and fifth scenes
Sassy Blitzø, probably talking to the repo-hellhound or punching-bag Moxxie.  Same setting as scene 11
Blitzø running to the window of what looks like a recording studio, with ‘VM’ spray painted on the doors next to him.  He looks distraught, but it’s not clear why
Recently choked-out Moxxie recovering, while being frame by a spiny-tailed Imp wearing what I assume is a serape, since it looks like they’re on the ranch Loona and Blitzø cheered a poor soul, scene 12
DEPRESSED BIRD DADDY.  WHY ARE YOU SAD???  IS IT GONNA MAKE ME SAD??? OH NO I’M NOT READY unless its a flashback, but stilllll
Perturbed Blitzø holding his special flintlock in a western-themed room.  Looks like he has his outfit from scene 12 on, probably the same episode, but whatever happened/is going to happen, it’s not good
Dressed-up Moxxie, who probably jumped bombed a performance, is upstaged by Robo Fizz and most likely a Robo Ozzie, given the designs on its’ head(s).  He looked uneasy even before the Robos popped up, so something else was going on first.
Scaley eye blinking and getting MAD, attached to the tentacle that kidnapped Moxxie?
50% off add for Spring Break victims, complete with coffee stain, and Blitzø‘s horse doodles.  I got a mental image of Moxxie scolding Blitzø for drawing at work, so he BS’d it into an ad.
Either Blitzø is a terrible driver, or they’re trying to speed away from someone.  Repo-hound, maybe?
HUMAN!!!  Almost definitely a human pop-star singing on a Coachella-esque stage!  I tried to fill in her name, but could only get ideas of what some letters were.  Her initials are most likely VM, from the recording studio scene, but the bottoms of some letters could be an E or L, K or R, so we’re left with V~(L/E)(K/R)OSI(K/R)A MA~~.  It also looks like she’s wearing heels, so she may be the person who threw Blitzø in a later scene
Moxxie about to be trampled by what can only be a horse, given his outfit.  Loona and Blitzø are probably filming XD
Shocked Stolas, standing up at table.  Same outfit as the burlesque, but he doesn’t looked surprised enough that it’s the part where Moxxie is upstaged, more something emotionally jarring.  Blitzø kissing someone else, maybe?
Blitzø pushing Moxxie out of the way and pinning him just outside a Hell portal in an alley, most likely Earth.  Blitzø looks mad, and rightly so, as he’s looking a little beat up himself.  Connected to the interrogation scene?
Happy Blitzø turns horrified outside some elevators with Moxxie.  Judging by the water cooler in the back, I think he’s about to slam into the recording studio.  Behind him, Moxxie gives no shits
Blitzø looking miffed, maybe at something Moxxie said.  Looks like the same scene with the repo-hound, as the setting itself looks like an impound lot, with the IMP van smack-dab in the middle of it.  I love that the license plate is IMP-666 though
Unhappy Blitzø (ok, let’s be honest, when IS he happy?)
Moxxie swinging Millie around in the deserted theater, passionately frenching each other
Blitzø getting pushed down by a horned, high-heeled... someone.  Again, might be the pop star from earlier, but there’s horns...  Maybe the pop star is human-passing, and has an alternate demonic form, like the Hazbin Hotel cast?
Western-clad Blitzø pulling his flintlock on someone, most likely before scene 18.  Most definitely Hell, judging by the poster and previous scenes, but I’m digging the décor
Blitzø not getting a break at all during this trailer and being yeeted into a dumpster, which closes on him.  Gonna take a stab and say it’s outside the burlesque Stolas and Moxxie were in, from the colors and posters of Lust Ring, Personal Companion Robo-Fizz, and Angel Dust.
The next scene is of him climbing out of a dumpster to fall into another pile of trash.  He just doesn’t get a break, does he?  It doesn’t look like the dumpster outside the burlesque, but it is similar to the alley with the hell portal, where Blitzø pinned Moxxie.  Maybe not the same scene, but most likely same episode.
Editor being absolutely plastered, teasing all the fun stuff to come in 2021, since 2020 can go f*ck itself.
And that’s a really in-depth breakdown of all the scenes in the trailer!  Now, for the voiceovers.
First, Loona’s asking if anyone ‘Can feel that?’.  Interesting thing to ask, so we’ll have to wait and see what catastrophe happens
Millie gently yelling at Moxxie to ‘DON’T PANIC’
A calm voice announcing an elevator’s departure to the Lust circle of Hell, which is most likely where the burlesque and Robo scenes are.  As to who is going, it’s either Stolas or the IMP crew, or maybe both?
Horny Stolas cooing ‘Oh, Blitzy!’, followed by Loona’s ‘SHUT THE F*CK UP’ from the Loo Loo Land episode.  Finally, I have a high-res clip I can set as my ringtone!
Blitzø yelling  ‘Dammit, Moxxie, this is all your fault!’, which may or may not be true since he scapegoats Moxxie, who replies ‘How is this my fault???’
Pop star asking, ‘Y’all ready to get f*cked up and make some b*tchin’ bad choices?’.  It’s most likely her talking, since the her lips synch up with her scene, and it’s a new voice we haven’t heard before.
Moxxie’s cut off ‘M*THERF*CKER!!!’.  So happy I get to hear Invader Zim go off, poor boy needs it XD
Blitzø being Blitzø and trying to tone down a big deal, stating again that he doesn’t pry into their personal lives, even though he obvious does (see Helluva Boss Pilot for more)
Robo Fizz’s line from Loo Loo Land asking if anybody loved Blitzø.  I’m gonna be honest and say that line choked me up in Loo Loo Land, and so did Blitzø’s response, until ‘But I’m really good with guns now.  DANCE, B*TCH!’
Moxxie ending with ‘That is deeply unsettling’, again from Loo Loo Land.  Throwing shade on Helluva Boss haters, maybe? :3
All right, now, predictions!
Chaos in a theater, with focus maybe on Millie and Moxxie’s relationship, maybe an origin story?  It won’t be the only one, with the tentacle beach monster and drugged Moxxie bits, so we can expect a lot of story and character development from the two of them.
Farm episode!  Blitzø either drags them onto a farm, or there’s a client who invites them, but sh*t will happen.
Really excited to see what happens in the Lust ring, and for the return of Robo Fizz!  Baby boy only got a few minutes of screen time, but is currently my favorite character.
Repo episode of rescuing the IMP van, probably resulting in overall team building and character development.  I really want to see Loona tear a new one into that *sshole-looking hellhound, though.
Pop star episode!  Really excited to meet this new character, I wonder what her name is and how close I was XD  Either Blitzø and Moxxie break into her recording studio to meet her, or she’s a client, but we’ll see!
Trapped on Earth/Run in with Earth authorities episode?  That interrogation room didn’t exactly look Hellish, and they obvious meet some kind of resistance while on Earth that looked like it was gonna get messy...
Stolas episode!  Please please please be flashback and story, I loved Loo Loo Land but really want some more lore and development on his character and maybe relationship with Blitzø.  Bird obviously needs to work through some things, and I really want to watch him grow, ever since I saw him struggle to tell Octavia why he was cheating.  Him stuttering and ultimately being unable to find a reason why really hit home, and I’m glad it was something they included since in media, it’s always ‘Well, she’s really ugly’ or ‘I don’t love him anymore’.  He still has feelings for his wife, but wanted to f*ck Blitzø too.
Even without the trailer, we do know that we’re getting episodes focusing on CHERUB and a Harvest Moon festival, but still.  There’s so much content Vivzie and Co have been working hard to make, and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.  Dark comedy aside, there’s so much story they can make just around these four characters, following their growth and happenings around Hell.  It’s such a cool premise and one that hasn’t been washed and worn so many times, like cop or murder shows, and I can see this going on for quite a bit.
Well, here’s to an exciting 2021!  Thank you for all your hard work, Vivizepop, keep it up!

With every day following Jaebum’s dinner with his new agency, his mood kept getting better and better. You loved hearing him sing whenever he was too occupied with whatever he was doing to realize that he wasn’t alone in the room and you loved catching him smile to himself when you were hanging out, even if you were watching a depressing movie.
He was happy. Overjoyed and blisful, even – and you loved everything about it.
But you hated that you couldn’t match his mood.
You still hadn’t told him about the contract you’ve signed and all that it implied. Not because you didn’t want to – well, actually, you didn’t, but this was something you felt like you had to do despite your wishes – but mostly because you’ve never seen Jaebum this happy this many days in a row, and breaking that streak felt like a crime you’d have to go on death row for. You weren’t ready for that.
“How is the planning going?” Jaebum asked you one night when the two of you found yourselves in the kitchen, preparing to have dinner together after work. He was the one doing all the cooking, though, while you sat by the kitchen island, your laptop in front of you; both of you in your usual positions. “For the exhibition, I mean.”
“Oh,” you’d been relatively quiet about the upcoming exhibition, blaming the sudden workload at your own gallery, but you knew you couldn’t escape from talking about it. “It’s… going. I actually haven’t heard from them much. And I didn’t call them myself because I’ve been busy and—”
His phone started to ring. It’s been doing that a lot the past few days and it always rang mid-conversation. Almost as if whoever was calling him waited until you and Jaebum had started to talk so they could dial. You didn’t mind it this time, however, because it saved you from a very awkward and clumsy half-lie.
Somehow, you found yourself suddenly living your whole life inbetween ill-timed phone calls and more and more half-lies.
Sighing, as you waited for Jaebum to finish his call in the hallway, you closed your laptop and decided to take over his job of chopping the vegetables while he was busy.
As soon as you finished with the carrots and moved onto the cabbages, he was back in the kitchen, beaming. God, you’d have been jealous he was doing so well if you weren’t so incredibly happy to see him happy.
“Good news, I’m hoping?” you encouraged.
He nodded. “They want to release “Don’t Touch Me” as a single with an actual music video accompanying it.”
“Oh, God, your debut music video!” you exclaimed, putting the knife down before you hurt yourself because you could not bother looking at the vegetables when Jaebum was standing in front of you, all smiles and glittering eyes. “Do they have any ideas for it? Any particular plot-lines? Shit, this could be your debut as an actor, too.”
“I’m sure they’ll come up with something if I don’t think of anything myself,” he answered, laughing and taking your previous seat by the island. You rotated positions around each other so effortlessly, it felt as though you’d cooked dinner together your whole lives. “But I have the honor of living with a photographer, so I’m hoping she will be the one who tells me if my ideas are too awful to even consider.”
“Hmm,” you grinned. “That sounds quite convenient. Lucky you.”
“Lucky me, indeed,” Jaebum replied with a matching smirk and then leaned over the island to press a kiss to your cheek before standing up to turn the stove on. “Listen, uh—”
“Can you hold on for a moment?” you cut him off, feeling your phone vibrate in your pocket. Of course, you’d get a call right when he had something to tell you. “Someone’s call—oh.”
Jiho had finally reached out. You dipped out of the room – narrowly avoiding Jaebum’s surprised glance at your phone; he was just alarmed by the sudden crestfallen note in your voice when you noticed the caller’s ID – to take the call. You felt guilty immediately after, though. If you’d answered Jiho’s call in Jaebum’s presence, that would have given you an opening to begin the difficult conversation and explain what you had to do in order to get your exhibition.
Clearly, you were still unprepared for that.
“Yeah?” you answered breathlessly once you were in your room, the racing of your thoughts exhausting you not just mentally but physically, too.
“Hi,” Jiho said on the other end of the call. “Is this a bad time?”
You weren’t sure if there was a right time when it came to him.
“No, it’s fine,” you replied.
“Good. I’ve got an appearance for us,” he said it in a grandiose tone, making it seem as though he was announcing that the two of you were about to headline Coachella. “It’s nothing big. One of my friends – well, alright, acquaintances as of right now, but I’m thinking ahead – is hosting this dinner and I’ve been invited with a plus one. Lots of my colleagues are also attending, and I thought, what’s a better way for you to begin your introductions?”
Dinner was an intimate affair, no matter how many people were in attendance or where it was hosted. It involved a group of people sitting closesly at a table, having hushed conversations over glasses of fancy liquor and plates of food you couldn’t even begin to guess the names of. You hadn’t expected that – you’d only considered photography exhibitions to be the ‘public appearances’ mentioned in your contract.
“Uh,” you stammered, losing your train of thought for a moment. “W-when is it?”
“Tomorrow night.”
“It’s tomorrow?” you repeated, surprised. “Is it—will I always be notified of the events I have to attend with you one day before they happen? Because a heads-up would be nice, I might have plans—”
“This is your job,” Jiho said, and although his words were meant to chastise you for even considering turning him down, he still managed to sound laid-back. The indifference in his voice made your skin crawl – he had to have been acting and you dreaded to think what he really wanted to say. “Surely, you can cancel plans for it.”
“I—”
“But I understand,” he added before you could cut in. “Admittedly, I wasn’t planning on going at all but, after some consideration, I decided this would be a great way for you to get acquainted with some of the more prominent names in photography. I won’t call you about this at the very last minute again. This was my bad. Then again, this dinner is more for you than it is for me or the gallery, so I’d take this chance if I were you.”
You bit your lip. “So, this is a freebie, then? It’s not an official public outing?”
“Don’t worry,” Jiho sounded amused now. “It’s both.”
Tumblr media
Getting through the dinner with Jaebum was suddenly a chore because, in your mind, you were already dining with Jiho and the people he’d called his colleagues. In all of the time that you’ve lived with Jaebum, never once did you find your mind wandering out of the room he was in, so this was as unusual for you as it was for him.
“You seem distracted,” Jaebum pointed out when he’d already cleaned his plate and you were still toying with the arugula leaves on yours. “Is everything alright? What was that call about?”
“Nothing, it’s fine,” you said automatically. “I’m just thinking.”
“Not about me, I suppose?”
You raised your eyes to meet his grin and instantly felt the corners of your lips stretch into a matching smile. You looked down to get yourself together and then dared to speak, “can I ask you something? It's kind of weird.”
“Sure,” he shrugged his shoulders.
“What are the lengths you’re willing to go in order to make it as a singer?”
He hesitated as soon as he heard the question. You did warn him that it was going to be weird but he was still confused and not quite sure what you wanted to hear from him.
“What do you mean?” he asked slowly.
“I mean…" you started and then stopped abruptly. You didn't actually know what you wanted to him to tell you, either. "I mean, how far would you consider stepping out of your comfort zone to advance your career?”
Jaebum looked around the room before answering, “well, as far as I have to, I guess.”
“Yeah?”
“Well, yeah. I don’t think any achievements can be gained inside of the comfort zone," he said. "You always have to step out of what you’re used to in order to do something meaningful, but, I mean, that way your comfort zone stretches, you know? I… I wouldn’t have even considered talking about my music to anyone who wasn’t Jackson, and now I-I’m going on meetings where we do nothing but discuss my music.”
“Right," you nodded, swallowing slowly. Jaebum noticed the awkward expression on your face and was already starting to suspect that you'd expected him to answer your question differently when you changed your approach, "but, I mean, if you were given a chance to reach your goals faster, would you take it?”
He thought the answer was obvious, so he frowned. “How do you mean?”
“Let’s say you’re given the opportunity to succeed with a virtually non-existent risk of failure. Except, in order for that to happen, you have to do something that you are—that you’re not entirely comfortable with,” you explained – albeit so vaguely, Jaebum had trouble following you – while tracing the pattern of the tabletop of the kitchen island.
“If you’re asking me if I’m going to sleep with anyone to get a Grammy," Jaebum said, "then the answer is no.”
“I—okay," you laughed in surprise. "Good to know. I didn’t mean—well, I wasn’t talking about something that extreme.”
“Well, as long as I get to keep my dignity, I’d say I’d do pretty much anything.”
“Dignity,” you repeated.
“Yes. This is—it’s going to sound weird, probably, but I like to think of it as if—I’m standing on stage, accepting an award for my music, right? And I have to give a speech. Well, what do I say – am I confident enough to tell everyone the truth of how I got here, accepting this award, or am I too embarrassed to admit to the things I had to do in order to get here?" Jaebum spoke. "Basically, what I mean is, if whatever I’m considering now is going to embarrass me in the future, I’d rather not do it. Does that answer your question?”
“Yeah,” you replied, not finding the right words to tell him that he didn’t just answer the question you’d asked. He also answered all the questions you’d never even dare to ask. “Thank you.”
“Anytime,” he rewarded you with another smile before pointing out, “you still look down, though.”
“I—yeah, sorry,” you shook your head, knowing there was no place for you to hide from him here. “I’m just—”
But Jaebum was reaching conclusions faster than you could explain yourself as he squinted his eyes, interrupting you, “is the gallery asking you to—do you have to do something you don’t want to do for your exhibition?”
You were afraid to keep eye contact with him all of a sudden, so you lowered your eyes and were in the middle of shaking your head when you reconsidered. What was the point of lying again when you’d just been given another perfect opening to come clean about Jiho?
“N-no—not exactly,” you said, your heart rate picking up speed. “I just have to step out of my comfort zone, like you’ve said. That’s surprisingly difficult to do.”
He nodded, understanding. “Do you want to talk about this?”
“I don’t want to bother you with—”
“Hey, no, don’t,” he cut you off again, waving his hand dismissively. “You’re not bothering me. We share a living space, so I’d say it’d be nice if we shared our mind space, too.”
You watched him for a moment, appreciating the gesture even though you’d have rather had him ignore everything you were about to say. “That was deep. Is that a new song lyric?”
“Not yet, it’s not,” Jaebum replied, immediately catching your attempt to change the topic, “but maybe it will be if you tell me what’s making you upset.”
Your entire body was buzzing – shaking – with nervous electricity. You realized you had to talk – you’d never forgive yourself for lying to him – but you still wanted to find a way to tell him the truth without revealing all of the details, even though, by definition, that wasn’t exactly the truth at all.
“I’m going to have to—there are these—I will—oh, fuck,” you shook your head, covering your face with your hands as you inhaled deeply. You appreciated Jaebum’s patience while you gathered yourself. “Okay. I’m going to have to attend these events for a little while. For promotion.”
“Okay,” Jaebum nodded. “After the exhibition?”
“No,” you said. “Before.”
He paused, the next question escaping him. Instead of inquiring further like he’d planned before, now he just waited for you to continue.
Prompted by his confused—and yet curious—face, you sighed and tried to explain, “I’ve been told it’s a prerequisite. Basically, they want my name to be somewhat known among my fellow photographers so they can, I don’t know, guarantee that my exhibition won’t send them into complete bankruptcy or something.”
“That—” Jaebum started to reply and then stopped. “Okay, actually, I don’t know if that makes sense. I don’t know how galleries usually work.”
“Well, my gallery never really provided a similar service,” you said. “But, then again, my gallery doesn’t specify in photography. The only photography exhibitions we’ve hosted were by photographers that were already relatively popular. I don’t know much about this either, to be honest, but, I guess, it does make some sense.”
“Hmm,” he nodded. “So, these events you’ll have to attend are making you uneasy?”
“Yes. More or less,” you replied, choosing to walk around the gaping hole with Jiho’s name at the bottom, instead of diving into it head-first. “I’m just not sure if that’s fair.”
“Why not?” Jaebum asked, picking up one of the arugula leaves off your plate since it was clear that you weren’t going to finish eating them. “It’s not like you’re getting any special treatment or anything. It wouldn’t be fair if they took you in and hosted your exhibition immediately.”
“That’s true,” you bit your lip. “I guess I’m just uncomfortable with the fact that I’ll have to make a name for myself as a photographer by doing things that aren’t exactly photography-related, you know?”
“Wait,” he stopped chewing. “What do you mean?”
You didn’t understand which part he was suddenly hung up on. “W-what do you mean, what do I mean?”
“These events,” Jaebum repeated, a frown on his face. “You said they’re for promotion. What do you mean, they’re not photography-related?”
Before long, the room had started to burn, your entire body seemingly catching fire. You couldn’t help glancing at your bedroom as you wished to escape.
“No, they are. They’re completely photography-related. I-I just meant that I would prefer it if I became more well-known by taking pictures,” you said, your throat drying under Jaebum’s confused—suspicious?—gaze. “And now I’m basically trying to become a socialite before I can try to become a photographer.”
“Huh,” he leaned back slightly and you weren’t sure what to make of that because, although he looked like he appreciated your explanation, he also looked like he didn’t like what he’d just heard. “Why did you agree to do this if you’re not—if you don’t want to?”
“Because this is my only shot,” you said simply.
“Oh, come on, do you genuinely believe that?” Jaebum asked, skeptical. “You’re a talented photographer, have some—”
“—confidence, yeah,” you finished for him, nodding your head along to the words you’ve heard several times already. “I keep hearing that but, the thing is, at the end of the day, it’s not really all about confidence. I could believe in myself like no other and still be none the wiser because confidence doesn’t guarantee success. It’s good to have it, but all it does is just ensures I feel less awful when, eventually, this doesn’t work out and I fall down on my ass.”
“I don’t—that’s a very negative attitude,” he pointed out the obvious because he didn’t really have any counter-arguments. Easing your mind about something you were worried about was, as he’d come to learn, unexpectedly difficult. “If you were more confident, you could become successful all on your own. You wouldn’t need any… prerequisites or whatever you want to call them.”
“I could never do it on my own,” you disagreed right away. “I mean, is that not what I’ve been trying to do this whole time, anyway? Taking pictures—”
“—and then not submitting them anywhere,” Jaebum cut in, “yeah, that’s not really it. If you believed in yourself more, you could absolutely make a name for yourself on your own terms. You could even find a different gallery, maybe one that offered you a deal that was a little more acceptable for you.”
“But no one else got back to me!” you replied, feeling your irritation grow. He’d made it seem so easy as if you’d been beating yourself up about this completely pointlessly. “I emailed, at least, a dozen galleries – and there aren’t even that many photography-oriented galleries in our country to begin with – and only one—this one—contacted me.”
“But they did contact you,” Jaebum insisted, his voice rising as well. “They saw your potential. If you’d tried again, maybe more would respond and—”
“They wouldn’t,” you cut him off, not allowing him to plant any more seeds of false hope in your mind.
“Why not? Why are you so sure that they wouldn’t?” he asked. “It’s moments like this when you need to find more confidence in yourself.”
You wanted to keep on repeating that this wasn’t the case because you firmly believed that, if you hadn’t known Jiho prior to your meeting with him at his gallery, you wouldn’t have heard from them at all. This was about connections. About popularity. About, well, money.
“The galleries don’t need artists with potential,” you said slowly, your hands at your sides now, your fists clenched. “They need artists that can make them profit. And if I’m not known, I can’t bring them money.”
“Yeah, but you can find other ways to make yourself known if you don’t feel like doing it this way.”
“I—do you know how long that’d take?”
Jaebum didn’t think that was a problem. “Well, how bad do you want this?”
“What?” you frowned.
“If you want to succeed bad enough,” he explained, “why does it matter how long it’d take?”
“Did you not just say you’d take the opportunity to jump-start your career if you could?” you asked, realizing that you were only getting so angry because, for the most part, he was right.
You did want to host your own exhibition—very much so—but the fear of never succeeding might have blinded you. Jiho’s opportunity was the only one you’ve gotten in your life and it felt like the only one you’d ever get.
“Well, yeah, but I thought we were talking about doing something that wasn’t conflicting with my morals, or whatever,” Jaebum replied. “It clearly seems like you’re uncomfortable with this, so why put yourself through it?”
Because I don’t want you to leave me behind, you wanted to tell him but held yourself back.
“Because it’s still an opportunity,” you said softly, sounding even less convincing—what were you even trying to convince him of?—than before. “An opportunity that I might not get otherwise. This gallery—it’s great. It’s fantastic, the things they’ve offered me, it’s—wow.”
“And yet, you still have doubts?” he asked.
“I guess.”
“Then maybe this gallery is not right for you.”
That sounded too simple.
“Maybe not,” you said. “But I don’t think I’ll ever find an ideal gallery, all of them are going to include some responsibilities I might be uncomfortable with. I just have to man up and pull through, I guess.”
He sighed before saying, “you guess a lot.”
“Yeah,” you shrugged, having noticed this as well. “I’ve never been in a position like this before. Obviously, I don’t know what I’m doing.”
“I don’t know what I’m doing, either,” he countered, “but I don’t look like I’m being tortured.”
Somehow, even though he probably didn’t mean it, his words were akin to a painful punch in your stomach. You must have looked like you were getting beaten up by mean bullies on the daily and that was definitely not what a person on the way to success should have looked like.
“That’s right,” you said, the expression of your face suddenly resembling a brick wall. “You don’t.”
“Look—no matter what happens, I’m here for you, okay?” Jaebum continued, more careful this time. He noticed that he must have phrased himself wrong because all light had suddenly gone out of your eyes – and there wasn’t a lot of it there in the first place. “If you decide you don’t want to work with this gallery and would rather wait for a different opportunity—”
“—then what? You’ll hold my hand like I’m a crying child on the first day of kindergarten?”
He was surprised to hear your harsh voice. “I—”
“Shit, sorry, I’m—I didn’t mean to sound so accusing,” you pulled back in your seat, bringing your hands over your face in a desperate attempt to calm yourself down.
“No, it’s okay,” Jaebum said. “I-I don’t really know what to say to help you. You’re better at this than I am. You’re the perfect balance between gentle encouragement and tough love.”
You shook your head, still hiding your face. “No, I’m not.”
“For me, you are. I’m trying to learn how to be the same for you, but, obviously, I’m not doing a very good job,” he spoke and then stopped, waiting for you to look at him. Once you did, however, he looked down. “Whatever you do, I’m here, okay? But tell me if you need me to hold your hand or if you’d rather have me push you towards something you’re not sure about.”
His words were like the quiet shelter in a raging storm that you’d been seeking and yet you didn’t dare to allow them to comfort you just yet. “What if I’m not sure about what I need?”
“Well, then let me just do this,” he stood up and walked over to wrap his arms around your waist and rest his head on your shoulder, before finishing, “and now we can stay like this until you’re sure.”
Feeling the way your heart dropped as soon as he was holding you, you allowed him to overcome your senses as you asked quietly, “what if it’s never?”
“Then we’ll stay like this until we die of starvation,” he replied, pulling away slightly, “let me just grab a chair for myself, too, yeah?”
You chuckled lightly, allowing him to break the hug and sit down next to you instead. His hands remained on you all through this.
“Thank you,” you said, then, meaning it from the bottom of your heart.
“No need,” he replied. “I didn’t do anything.”
“No, you’re here. Thank you for that.”
“I have no choice,” he said. “I live here.”
You groaned with a playful roll of your eyes. “Oh, way to ruin a moment.”
He laughed, pulling you into a hug again. “I’ve told you, I’m learning it all from you.”
Tumblr media
Like with most things in your life, your mind tended to focus on the negative instead of sticking with the positive – and the dinner with Jiho was not an exception. You’d survived it, of course, and, if you had to be completely honest, there were even moments when you found yourself enjoying your time there – you couldn’t help but feel starstruck when you realized that you were sitting at the same table with one of the National Geographic photographers – but, at the end of the day, you could not force yourself to say that your night was great. It had its’ moments, but it was not at all great.
You’d had to sit next to Jiho the whole night – and, although that sounded like you were twelve years old and the teacher had forced you to sit next to the boy you’ve disliked more than anyone in maths class, this was not the case at all; Jiho very literally orbited you the entire night, never stepping more than three feet away from you – and, on top of that, you had to endure him cutting up the steak on your plate for you after your shaky hands had accidentally released the knife one time.
Undoubtedly, Jiho acted in an ambiguous way because he wanted the others to get interested – helping a friend out with their meal was nothing short of friendly, of course -- but, at the same time, the close proximity between you two could have easily suggested a more intimate relationship. And his actions towards you were definitely eye-catching because, at the end of the night, when the aforementioned photographer was inviting Jiho to the newest magazine release party in the city – he was, apparently, the author of the cover picture – he asked Jiho to bring you as well.
You were glad to receive an opportunity to attend an event that sounded much more official than this dinner but the fact that you’d only attend it as Jiho’s plus one still clouded your mood. You wanted to go there as a photographer. Not as the girl Jiho had cut her steak up for.
When you got back to your apartment later that night, you took your shoes off in the hall and sighed yet again – somehow, no matter how many times you exhaled, you still couldn’t seem to get rid of the nasty dust that had gathered in your lungs overnight. You were more than ready to head to bed and lose yourself in peaceful slumber where you didn’t have to worry about ruining your reputation before you even developed one, but then you noticed the creak in the door of Jaebum’s bedroom.
It was dark inside but the streelights outside of his bedroom window illuminated his bed enough for you to see his sleeping features through the gap in the door. You’d only approached to close the door so you wouldn’t wake him while you showered and prepared for bed but you stopped short once you saw him.
He was smiling in his sleep.
And just this sight alone was enough to make you smile too, forgetting whatever existential crisis you’d already braced yourself for. For a moment there, it really felt like, even if you’d return to your bedroom later and the previous anxiety and disappointment would return with you, you would make it. You’d pull through because it’d be worth it.
You’d survive anything because you believed that, one day, you’d get to wake up in the middle of the night to see Jaebum’s smiling face right next to yours – and you’d realize you’d been smiling in your sleep, too.

LM5
Tumblr media
The final part of why Little Mix hasn’t cracked America and this is primarily centered around the LM5 era, which is why it is titled as such. Let’s just get right into it.
-The Gap
Before the girls released LM5, there was a gap between that album and Glory Days. Two whole years went by before the girls released their fifth album. Within this gap, many fans left the fandom due to many reasons. One was due to the girls inactivity. The girls didn’t have much activities outside of touring during the gap. Four tours within the span of two years, the girls were overworked. Due to this, their interactions with their fandom was minimal and they ended up losing some fans.
Now, I don’t know who in their right mind decided to have Little Mix do so many tours like that is going to help out with their promotions. Besides the Dangerous Woman Tour, the tours were all based in Europe, with the exception of a handful of dates in Japan and Australia. At this point, the girls were six years into their career and still hadn’t headlined a show outside of their comfort zone yet. And instead of performing at, I don’t know, Coachella or some other festival, they stayed in Europe.
When there is a large gap in between albums, you need to have many activities to keep fans interested and gain the public’s attention. You can’t sit idle for too long because fans will leave, the public will tire of you, and your album won’t do so good. Onto the album itself.
-The Roll Out
The girls started teasing the album starting around the summertime of 2018. Now, when I say teasing, all I mean is posting some snippets on Instagram and humming a song in an interview. That’s really it. On October 12th, they released “Woman Like Me” as the lead single. The single featured Nicki Minaj, one of the girls’ most wanted collaborators. Now, with finally getting that Nicki collab, the girls should’ve been promoting the, excuse my french, fuck out of that song. Right? Wrong.
Once again, they stayed in their comfort zone and did their annual X Factor performance, along with a few other usuals like BBC. The one time they did perform with Nicki Minaj was at the EMAs, and that was mainly because of Nicki’s team. Not once, did they touch America despite featuring an American artist on their song.
The girls started releasing promotional singles such as “Joan of Arc” and “Told You So” to hype up the album’s release. However, that’s not as good of an idea as it may look. These promotional singles got released just a few days before the album’s release. Remember, Little Mix were gone for two years and only had one month between the lead single and the album’s release to drum up hype for the album. If they had released the song earlier and spent time promoting that instead of a summer tour, the album might have done better. They would’ve had more time to promote it, the promotional singles could’ve been spaced out better, and they could’ve gained some fans back.
Basically, the public and the fans were being fed too much in one short time frame and this can cause people to become overwhelmed. Plus, this can cause them to become tired of the album quicker since they haven’t had time to really get excited for it. But the main thing that ruined LM5, was this:
-Change of Labels
Little Mix made a huge mistake switching labels before their fifth album even got released. The reason for switching was due to the group’s management company and Syco no longer working together. However, this caused a whole lot of problems.
Number one, Syco owns LM5. Therefore, the girls couldn’t promote many singles from the album. The only reason they were able to release “Think About Us” was because it was remixed and they featured Ty Dolla $ign on it. That is the main reason why Wasabi and any other songs like Motivate, that the fans wanted as singles, couldn’t be released. That would mean that Syco would profit from it.
Number two, due to the public catching wind of this, the attention was focused more on the drama than on the girls album. Fans were wondering why the girls switched at such a crucial time. The girls didn’t even speak much on the switch either. Not to mention, the label they switched to isn’t all that good either.
RCA has a reputation of not promoting their artists. Examples include Tinashe, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and more. This is clear with the girls first release with the label, “Bounce Back”. The song peaked at #10 on the UK Singles charts and the girls literally performed it on only The Voice, The One Show, The Late Late Show, and at a few festivals. The only time they left the UK was for the Late Late Show and the Voice Australia. That’s it.
Sadly, I think the girls just jumped from one train wreck to the other. Unless they prove to be profitable enough, they aren’t going to get the promotion they deserve. They are already preparing to go on another summer tour this year, but also are planning to release an album this year. Let’s see how this year goes.
That’s it for this series. I actually had a lot of fun writing this and seeing the notifications of people liking and reblogging it made me very happy as well, so thank you for that. I really do want to see the girls make it in America, but at the same time I have to be realistic as well. As long as the girls just continue making good music and being happy, that’s good enough for me. Maybe I’ll start getting active on Tumblr and doing blogs about my interests.

Reflection, Commitment, and also Techno: The Rise of DJ ANNA
Tumblr media
If you have actually ever had the pleasure of viewing Brazilian Techno DJ ANNA spin reside, you know what a thrill it is actually to see her in her aspect. In a performance currently dominated by many gifted females like Charlotte de Witte as well as Amelie Lens, ANNA's special, abundant Techno sound has aided her attract attention in the crowd.
Coming from participating in little nightclubs in South america as a teen to headlining every primary Techno festival in 2019, ANNA has additional than earned her area as Queen of the Techno performance. However her worldwide effectiveness has actually certainly not lacked its ups and also downs, and also major wellness issues virtually stopped her from acquiring where she is actually today.
For ANNA, whose daddy has a six-level, multi-genre nightclub in her neighborhood of Amparo, DJing has actually constantly been a component of her life. In simple fact, it was her father who nurtured her affection of music as a toddler. ANNA more popularly recalls marking along with her daddy on his once a week vacations to the report store. This early direct exposure to vinyl fabric may clarify why she is among merely a handful of DJs that still turns vinyl throughout her real-time collections.
At simply 14 years of ages, she began spinning in her dad's club, yet her interest with dancing music, and specifically Techno, began long in the past then. In a meeting, ANNA recalls her papa's willingness to let her socialize in his club, such a long time as she vowed to steer clear of coming from the Techno part of the location. "I presume it was because of the dancers, they utilized to dance within a prison," ANNA claims. Yet that didn't stop the younger ANNA coming from creeping in to the Techno room, where she first dropped head over heels for the style.
As a youthful girl cost-free to wander throughout a lot of her daddy's nightclub, ANNA remembers her major emphasis performing the crowd. While every person was actually keeping an eye on the DJ, she was actually infatuated on the dancers. ANNA usually found herself frustrated along with a number of the resident DJ's and also their failure to read through the state of mind of the clubgoers.
For her, DJing has actually constantly concerned individuals and also generating the best achievable adventure, something she excels at today. As a little one, she says she would often grumble to her father if she noticed a DJ participating in the very same song even more than when in their laid out of concern that the professional dancers' needs were actually being actually ignored.
Her residency at her papa's group ultimately helped her land her 1st true gig at age 17. It was her commitment to her produced and also her rejection to play or develop songs that she failed to definitely like that assisted change her in to the Techno super star she is today.
While it could be unsubstantiated currently, merely a handful of years earlier, in 2014, ANNA feared she might not have the ability to turn her fine art in to a beneficial profession. Flash ahead to 2018 as well as she 'd gone coming from stressing that she definitely would not be capable to pay her bills to become hand-selected by the epic Jon Hopkins to remix his path, "Selfhood". She said to DJMag, "I could never have actually visualized I 'd obtain the chance to remix Jon Hopkins, he is such a crucial and also established musician."
Coming from that aspect on, ANNA was actually unstoppable. With a forthcoming festival routine that features Motion and even the extra conventional Coachella, ANNA is actually revealing no indicators of reducing in 2020. ANNA does certainly not accommodate the stereotype of a "celebration DJ." However, she is actually very little of a drinker and also has actually acknowledged that when she has the possibility to visit a nightclub or even join a festival, she's there certainly to note as an autist.
Seeing her carry out live, you may see only exactly how truly she takes her craft. Centered as well as definitely magnetic, checking out ANNA spin is actually like watching Monet paint. She comes alive and also applies a remarkable show for her supporters. Choosing to make use of vinyl, ANNA takes a style as well as formality to djing that is actually seldom observed in these times.
However her career performed not come without its own decent reveal of difficulties. In 2016, harsh fatigue led ANNA to find out that she had contracted a thyroid virus. Her disease forced her to decelerate as well as begin prioritizing her health. 6 years previously, around 2010, mental health and wellness had likewise end up being a pressing concern for ANNA after her spouse, Brazilian DJ and manufacturer Wehbba, experienced an extreme panic spell that led them each on an unforeseen trip.
Searching for techniques to help her partner, ANNA subscribed for a training program on Spiritual Reflection. She also began examining the jobs of thinker Alan Watts and also legendary United States scholar and metaphysical expert, Ram Dass. ANNA started practicing meditation for 20 mins two times a day. After viewing the beneficial effect it possessed on both her own life and also her hubby's, she extended her reflection treatments to two hours, twice a time.
Her spiritual adventure not just strengthened her mental health, yet she likewise associates it to being actually the catalyst that has made her a far better performer. In her earlier times, ANNA trying out her sound, blending genres as well as making popular music that would aid obtain her scheduled. But mind-calming exercise has actually altered the way she makes. She doesn't push ideas any longer. Instead, she permits her art flow via her in a way that is actually almost like a form of meditation on its own. As well as the outcomes represent themselves.
Hearing her 2018 monitor "The Dansant" is an electrifying experience unlike any other, and also it maintains its own distinction whether you reside in a darker underground club or an outside site like the Brooklyn Mirage, where ANNA participated in a prepared this summer season as aspect of the Cityfox Arise collection.
Currently in her early 30s, ANNA has actually been actually in the setting a lot longer than a great deal of the DJs who have actually recently succeeded. Her metaphysical trip as well as her profession stand up as testimonies to the energy of perseverance and the importance of staying correct to your own self as well as your noise. In an interview, she claimed, "if you are actually correct to your own self and also perform points from the heart, things form."
I presume it's secure to mention that for ANNA, traits have very most definitely become right into location.

Courtney’s Infinite Search for Love Ch. 7 (Witney) - Grinder
AN: Prepare for an unhappy ending…Nope, this isn’t the last update but yeah, not a happy chapter. And also, yes, the opening line is kinda like the one from (500) Days of Summer. I’m kinda realizing this fic seems a lot like that movie.
Also forgive me this chapter may be (a bit) long.
~Grinder
“I hate Willam. I hate her obnoxious seal laugh. I hate her dirty blonde hair and shitty roots. I hate her trampy taste in fashion. I hate her caked makeup face. And I hate that fucking David Bowie song too.”
There’s a moment of silence as Adore takes in my drunken rant. We’re just sitting isolated in the corner of this bar at this fucking staff night out. Meaning Willam is here too. For fuck sake. And I’m so drunk and heartbroken, making matters worse for myself. For. Fuck. Sake.
I just wallow in my misery and self-despair while Adore attempts to cheer me up. She’s mainly just listening and responding and giving me more booze. God, I love Adore.
It’s been two days since Willam and I went to the festival and I don’t plan on crying all day again. Yesterday was spent doing that. Then again, I am at this stupid staff do so I could be spending all night crying instead.
“Girl, do you mind if I ask what happened? You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.” Adore replies, sipping her drink.
“Well…where do I begin?” I slur thinking back to the day before yesterday.
-_-_-_- FLASHBACK -_-_-_-
“God, that security guard was nasty. Practically ripping my bag apart.” I rant, pulling at the straps of my holographic backpack. God, why am I such a teenager?
“Yeah, and he was so fucking handsy!” Willam exclaims, looking around to the security guard. “Pervert!”
My heart jumps to my throat as the security guard looks in our direction. Willam clutches my hand tight and we flee the scene. Even when we’re out of the guard’s sight, we’re still running. Where to? I don’t even know anymore. I just continue running and enjoy the feeling of the sand crumbling beneath my feet.
Willam halts immediately causing me to crash into her. She wraps her arms around me before I fall like the big klutz I am. She’s panting for breath, slouching on me now. “God, I need to go back to the gym.”
“Shut up before I throw you into the sea. You’re perfect.” I smile, helping her up again. I know it may seem like I’m fine with her again, but I still have my suspicions.
Willam perks up as the music hits her ears. “Fuck! My favourite band is on already!”
I don’t have time to respond as she’s already taken my hand and dragged me away towards the crowd. We dance and jump around for what feels like a good 2 hours even though I know it really wasn’t that long. But Christ I need water. I offer Willam to come get drinks with me to which she says no. Um…OK?
-_-_-_-
I’m standing outside the bar now. I figured Willam might want alcohol instead of water so that’s what she’ll get. I should be a spiteful bitch and get her beach water instead. OK, maybe that’s too far.
“What do you have?” I ask the bartender.
“Beer and shots.” He replies, in a sarcastic tone.
“…Could you be a bit more specific?” I ask, knitting my eyebrows together.
“Beer and shots.” He replies more sternly.
Christ, what a dick. I can tell this is gonna add to my slowly rising anger. “Fine. A beer then.”
Now I’m thinking of my slowly rising anger. Willam not coming to get a drink with me. The fact she only called me about a wakeup call late last night. The fact she hadn’t even texted me in a week. Slamming my money down on the counter, the bartender jumps.
“And a shot please.” I practically growl. I know I’m over reacting but I can’t help it. I’m so pissed with how this relationship turned out. “Make it two.”
When the drinks are placed in front of me, the shots are practically gone in two seconds. I snatch the beer and leave, making my way back to Willam. Not to mention it’s gonna be so annoying trying to find her in the huge crowd.
“COURT!”
I’m startled at the sound of my name, spinning towards the direction of the voice. It’s Willam. At the tattoo booth. Being tattooed. By a topless man. I storm up to the booth ready to ask why she didn’t stay with the crowd and why hadn’t even texted me.
“Willam, you - -”
“Don’t worry, It’s not permanent. It’s a stick and lick. It’ll come off I swear. Calm down, Mom.” She interrupts. The man just laughs. How obnoxious. Willam nods her head towards her tricep, where the tattoo sticker is placed. “It says ‘Fuck Coachella’.”
“OK. But why didn’t you text me you left?” I ask.
“I didn’t?” Willam asks, dumbfounded by the question.
“You didn’t.” I reply.
The man coughs, reminding us that he’s watching our awkward moment.
“Look. I promise I’ll text you if I disappear. I promise. But can we talk about this later?” Willam asks.
My teeth grit together as I realise I can’t find my words. All I can do is approach her, pass her the beer and wait until she’s done. “OK.”
A few seconds later, the tattoo is done. Willam pays the man and we walk away in painful silence. The longer the silence goes on for the more I think about how it shouldn’t feel this awkward. We’re a couple. We’re supposed to feel happy in each other’s company. Not murderous. Slight exaggeration. But Christ, I’m so pissed.
“I’m sorry for disappearing like that.” Willam mutters, reaching for my hand as we continue walking. I look to Willam to find her looking straight back at me. There’s a pregnant pause before she gives a smile, “Come on. Don’t be like that, Court. We’re at a festival! Have fun – live a little. We’re not at work anymore.”
I’m weak as I fall for the smile, taking a hold of her manicured hand and returning the smile. “You’re right. Let’s live a little.”
-_-_-_-
How dumb could I be? I basically gave Willam permission to walk away only if she texted me. And now I can’t find her anywhere now. She also hasn’t texted me. Now I’m beyond pissed.
I march myself to the bar, order two more shots and receive a dirty look from the same guy who had served me 3 hours earlier.
Leaving the bar, I continue my search for Willam at the stage area, where Troye Sivan is playing his fifth song. I could’ve been having a good time right now, dancing around to the music along with Willam. But nope. I’m searching for her instead.
I push through the violent crowd – tipsy, lost and confused and after a good five minutes of searching, I finally give up when a fifth drink spills on my top and I’m shoved for the second time.
I’m walking aimlessly now, searching for the number one source of my shitty mood. But why should I? She hasn’t wasted any time to come find me, has she?
“COURT!”
Déjà vu much?
Just like earlier, I turn to the voice to see the spawn of my rage. It’s Willam hanging out with a bunch of men. Surprise – surprise.
“Get your blonde ass over here!” Willam drunkenly calls. The state she’s in only adds fuel to the fire.
I storm up to her and the group of men. This time I’m not holding back. “Willam, you’ve got some serious explai- -”
“Yeah, shut up. This is Dustin.” She interrupts me, pointing to one of the men and then to the other. “And this is James. We were just talking about threesomes.”
“You were?” I ask, not surprised in the slightest.
“Yeah, I think you and James and I would be a cool team, right?” Willam beams, chuckling like a seal.
“I thought you didn’t do threesomes.” I confront her.
“You know us women. We change our minds all the time.” She shrugs rolling her eyes. She abruptly grabs me by the shoulders and shakes me lightly. “Come on. It’s a great idea! Just live a little, please.”
I don’t even know what to say as her eagerness to fuck with someone else is clear to me now. My eyes are glassy as tears sting the corners. I just shake my head, take a few steps away from the group and turn my back to her. To the bar I go.
-_-_-_-
I’m drunk. I’m lost. I can’t find Willam anyway, but then again I’m not even looking for her anymore. I’m just dragging myself around the festival, completely ignoring the live music and attractions around me, finding entertainment in feeling sorry for myself instead.
I’m surrounded by cars. How did I even end up at the car park? And why am I here? And why do I feel safer here, away from the drama. Maybe ‘cause there’s no one here. At least I think.
Stumbling my way through the cars, I come across an area with more space to move. I look around to see where I could head next only to see the blurry image of two individuals moving around against a van door. It’s 10 cars in the distance making it hard to see them and the alcohol isn’t helping either. What the hell are they doing? Curiosity gets the best of me as I make my way towards the distant figures. The closer I get to the people, the clearer my vision is. And the clearer my vision gets, the more I feel my stomach form a knot.
I’m five steps away from them now and my rage has reached its boiling point. It’s Willam, hoisted up against the van with her legs around James’ waist. His pants are around his ankles. Willam is moaning louder than she ever moaned for me. I don’t fall to the ground when I process what’s going on, but my tears spill down my cheeks freely.
I turn and run from the scene, not caring if I was seen or not. Fuck Willam. Fuck her for fucking James right now. Fuck her for messing with my feelings, my effort and my time. Fuck her for abandoning me at this festival. Fuck her for everything.
-_-_-_-
“Court, can we talk?”
I ignore Willam, walking ahead of her as I make my way home. I have no idea where she’s going but she’s definitely not come home with me.
“Court.” She repeats softly, to which I ignore her again. “Look, I don’t know what’s up with your ass but I really need to talk to you right now.”
She runs to the front of me, causing me to halt in my tracks. Before I can tell her to move she’s already speaking.
“Why are we doing this?” She asks.
My eyebrows knit together in confusion. “Because I’m going home?”
“Not that, you idiot. This whole thing we’re doing with each other. It’s not right.” She speaks. “I’ve just been thinking we haven’t really been with anyone else. Yeah we sleep around with strangers a lot, well not in months, but…”
‘Liar,’ I think to myself internally. Why aren’t I saying it out loud though?
“We haven’t really given ourselves a chance to date other people so how do we know that we’re really meant for each other if we haven’t met anyone else? I know this is so fucked up, but this is not normal. We’re grownups. Not dumb kids. Do you get what I’m - -”
“Have you met someone else?” I demand.
She’s silent for a few seconds before she utters out, “What?”
“Have you met someone else, Willam?” I repeat, more sternly now.
A pregnant pause. I just watch her as she looks guilty as charged.
“Courtney. I’m sorry, but I just don’t think…” she pauses trying to find her words “…we’re good together.  I feel like we really need to stop what we’re doing before we’re both completely drained and bitter from pretending all the time.”
I take her face in my hands, my cheeks red and stained with hot tears. “But we were so good together. The nights out at the bar. The fort in your house. The dates. Everything. It made me happier.”
I’m hoping she’ll lean in and kiss me and tell me I’m right and that she’s just paranoid. But she doesn’t. She’s just looks back at me with sympathy. “I’m sorry. It’s just it’s not fair that we’re doing this to each other. Just try and understand where I’m coming from, Court’.”
I take a few more seconds to look at her with pleading eyes before realizing it’s pointless. I take my hands away from her face, letting them drop to my sides. I move away from her and continue my journey home. She calls after me, but I’m too discombobulated and drunk to turn back.
As I trek home, I try to ignore all thoughts of Willam and suppress the memories for the good of my sanity. I try to think of what to do when I get home, but her face keeps flashing in my mind and I just cry more tears as I walk in my drunken and exhausted state.
-_-_-_- END FLASHBACK -_-_-_-
“And that’s why I fucking hate her.” I finish, looking around to Adore who’s already gotten another shot, ready for me to drown my emotions. She gives me a sympathetic look, passing the beverage to me. It’s gone in a matter of seconds and my ‘Done’ face masks the look of disgust at the taste.
“I’m so sorry, Man.” Adore rubs my shoulder. “Well, at least you tried. Like, it may look really shitty right now. But maybe you’re thinking too much about the good times instead of the bad. That’s only gonna make you miss her more. List her faults in your head and that’ll make you feel better I promise. And besides; there are plenty of other fish in the sea.”
I love Adore and everything, but right now I’m semi-bored and fed up with talking about Willam. Instead of bringing up a new topic, I just walk away leaving her alone and confused. I look around the place to see Alyssa alone at the bar. Let’s be alone together.
“Hey, Alyssa.” I slur, sliding onto the stool next to her. I nearly fall off but grab hold of the bar to steady myself.
“Hello, Miss Courtney Act.” Judging from her voice, she’s smashed too. “How’s the relationship going?”
I groan quite loudly, gaining Tammie and DJ’s attention also. They try to stifle their laughter as my forehead falls to the hard surface of the bar. Alyssa doesn’t hide anything as she cackles and claps her hands together. I’m glad she’s having fun watching me suffer in my drunken mess state.
Lifting my head slowly, I look to Alyssa again and mutter, “Don’t talk to me about her. I hate her so much.”
Alyssa’s smile drops grabbing a hold of my arm and practically shouts, “What did she do??!!”
My pointer finger is on her lips now as I shoosh her. “No – No – No. No talking about her. Maybe later. But not right now. Talk about something else. Talk about tongue pops and- - TALK ABOUT TATIANNA.”
Alyssa’s silent and her eyes widen at the mention of her favourite-person-in-the-whole-wide-world’s name. Before I can speak again, she leans back in her chair. Tatianna is sitting in the stool next to Alyssa, her head on the bar and her hair blanketing her face. She’s drunk and close to passing out.
“We all need promotions,” she mutters from under the mass of black hair, “And I need…more wine…”
Too drunk to move, she just continues to sit there. I give Alyssa an apologetic look for being so loud mouthed.
“To be honest…I don’t think it would work between her and I. ‘Cause she’s so…” She pauses to look around at Tatianna, who’s now completely passed out “…I don’t know. I just don’t think it would work.”
I roll my eyes, slapping my hand down on Alyssa’s shoulder. “You know what? Fuck love. Fuck love in its ass! Not literally. What the fuck is wrong with you? But yeah, you don’t need it.”
Alyssa just nods, sipping on her cocktail as I look past her shoulder to see the last person I wanted to see tonight. Willam standing across the bar actually making eye contact with me. Why is she staring?
“Who are you looking at?” Alyssa pulls me from my daze, as she slowly turns her head to where I’m looking. Before she can even look over her shoulder, I grab her face in my hand pulling it towards mine.
“Don’t look!” I whisper quite loudly as my forehead is nearly touching hers. We’re just staring at each other in complete silence. I can feel certain gears in my head turning as my eyes glance in Willam’s direction again. Still watching me.
“Courtney,” Alyssa slurs, “Are you OK?”
Without saying another word my lips come crashing against hers. And I can already feel the joy as I know Willam is watching. She wants to see other people? So be it.
Alyssa and I just make out for what feels like a good two minutes, and all the while, I open my eyes occasionally to glance at Willam. I smile into the kiss as I realize Willam hasn’t even taken her eyes off us and she looks pretty shocked. I am living for this moment.
Alyssa pulls away, also smiling now, “What was that all about?”
“Just shut up and come home with me.” I reply.
And that’s what we do. We leave the bar, hand in hand like classic petty teenagers. Adore looks bewildered at what’s going on, but I just wink reassuringly at her.
I glare at Willam as we get to the door. She’s not even looking anymore. Instead, she’s just flirting with a guy she’s with. Do I feel any guilt or sadness or any form of negative emotion? Only, because she’s not looking anymore. But she knows fully well that I’m leaving the place with Alyssa. And she knows exactly what we’re going to do.
It may sound pretty bitchy of me to say, but I really hope she feels what I’ve been feeling for the past few weeks. God, I really do hope.

Jelloman is a music festival hustler and Kurt Vile's brother
LAUREN SCHNEIDERMAN / Staff Photographer
Jelloman Paul Vile with one of his Jello murals.
Advertisment
of
Gallery:
Meet: Paul Vile, a West Chester mason who sells Jello shots and t-shirts to music festival goers across the country — a hustle that’s earned him the nickname “Jelloman.”
Say when: For a garnish, Vile often brings a pepper mill filled with Pop Rocks to sprinkle on his Jello shots. “It makes quite the presentation, if you will,” he said.
Backstage pass: Vile creates giant signs he calls “Jello murals” that spell out bands’ names, which often gets him invited backstage. Having famous Philly musician Kurt Vile as a big brother doesn’t hurt either.
Paul Vile wanted a hustle.
It was 2008 and Vile, a trained mason, was looking for a way to make some extra scratch when he stumbled upon a young woman selling Jello shots at a Dave Matthews Band concert in Camden. She told him she’d made $400 in just a couple hours.
“I knew that was the perfect hustle,” he said.
He was living on his own in West Chester, but Vile made his first batch in his parents’ kitchen. His mom, who doesn’t drink, helped, describing it as “stirring the cauldron of sin.”
Today, Vile, 33, buys his Jello in 50-pound bags, mixes his shots in five-gallon buckets and spends his summers traveling the country illegally selling Jello shots and T-shirts at music festivals like Firefly, Bonnaroo and Coachella.
Colin Kerrigan
Paul Vile places lids on a batch of his famous Jello shots.
He’s become such a fixture on the festival circuit that he’s earned the nickname “Jelloman.” Vile is also the subject of an upcoming documentary by Philly filmmaker Colin Kerrigan (a former Philly.com photographer) called “Jelloman, if u will.”
Vile knows selling booze and bootleg tees is against festival rules, not to mention numerous liquor and trademark laws. He doesn’t check IDs, obtain liquor or vendor licenses, or have rights to sell the tees. He’s no stranger to being kicked out of festivals, and he once had his van impounded and spent the night in jail when authorities found a T-shirt printing press inside the vehicle.
“I almost want to get legit with it all, somehow,” he said. “I got so good at something that is almost a dead-end road.”
But compared to some of the harder drugs and other illicit activities circulating at festivals, Vile said, his business is “like the Disney Channel.” And for now, he said, the risk is worth the reward. He won’t say how much his hustle pulls in, except that “it’s extremely lucrative.”
Born one of 10 children, Vile grew up in Lansdowne and graduated from Penn Wood High School in 2003. He then attended trade school for masonry.
Today, he oscillates between a “regular square life” of working in masonry and “that Jello lifestyle.”

But Jelloman doesn’t party like he used to.
He wakes up at 6 a.m., “ninja folds” the shirts he wants to sell, grabs some sunglasses and packs his bag with 500 Jello shots. By 9 a.m. he’s walking through campsites, ready to sell.
“These little Jello shots are the perfect sale. You can have hundreds in your backpack and they just fly like poker chips,” he said.
For $20, Vile will sell you a Jello shot, a bootleg festival shirt he designed himself and a cheap pair of sunglasses. The Jello shots alone go for three for $5, seven for $10 and 15 for $20.
“You’re probably thinking: ‘Would I buy a Jello shot from a random person?'” Vile said. “You might say no right now, but when you’re at a festival….the Jello shot is a weird hook.”
To make the shots, Vile boils a large amount of water and surrounds himself in a circle with 24 five-gallon buckets. Then, he puts the water, 7.5-pounds of Jello mix and four handles of bottom-shelfvodka in each bucket and stirs. Every bucket makes about 400 Jello shots and he needs about six buckets for each festival.
Instead of transporting the shots cold, he leaves them in a liquid state and dumps ice on them once he arrives at the festival to congeal the mixture.
He usually transports his Jello shots in his Jellovan, but he’s checked them at the airport, too.
Colin Kerrigan
Paul Vile prepares his Jello shots en masse in a hotel room.
Vile also makes his own bootleg tees, complete with festival line ups. Before his older brother, alternative rocker Kurt Vile, began touring, Paul Vile would sneak his brother’s name in his shirt lineups.
“I remember going to festivals like ‘What if Kurt played one of these festivals? That would be insane, wouldn’t it?'” he said. “Then it started creeping up and all of a sudden he was playing Sasquatch Music Festival … and I got to put his name in the lineup” for real.
>> MORE WE THE PEOPLE: At $1 a photo, this South Philly man’s dogs earn their keep
For those times Vile ends up in his brother’s world, hanging out with bands like The War on Drugs, he creates Jello murals by spelling the band’s name in Jello shots he hot glues to a large piece of Styrofoam insulation.
Colin Kerrigan
Paul Vile with the Jello mural he made for the band, Cage the Elephant.
The coolest band to invite him backstage with his Jello mural so far? Cage the Elephant.
Kerrigan said his documentary, “Jelloman, if u will,” which he’s raising money for on Kickstarter, will feature a lot of musicians, a lot of Jello shots and a lot of character.
“It’s a weird story,” Kerrigan said. “And he’s also a mason.”

Innovation is alive and thriving
The CLIMB brand was recognized by Inman in 2016 as one of the most innovative brokerages in the USA.  Lindsay tells Sherrie about their use of ‘Airstream’.
Topic – Innovate
Mentor – Lindsay Listanski with Sherrie Storor
Transcript:
Kevin:   Introducing our special guest for this morning, Sherrie Storor.
Sherrie:   So here I am with Lindsay Listanski and she’s head of national marketing for Climb Real Estate, this amazing most innovative agency that’s doing unbelievable things for millennials. Lindsay thank you so much for joining us today-
Lindsay:   Thank you so much for having me Sherrie, this is great.
Sherrie:   … here at Inman. So look we’ve been talking a little bit about what your role is off camera, and so I’m really keen to kind of bring that into the interview today. So why don’t you give us a bit about your background before talking about what it is that you’re doing today?
Lindsay:   Sure. So I am a real estate junky, I grew up in real estate my entire life. I’ve been blessed to marry my love of marketing with real estate, so it’s really awesome. I’ve been part of the Realogy family for almost eight years, I was with Coldwell Banker for seven amazing years and I recently transitioned as head of marketing for Climb. So it’s super exciting.
Sherrie:   Awesome. So I love this idea and this notion about being a real estate junky.
Lindsay:   Yeah.
Sherrie:   It kind of sounds like it was in your blood, you were around it all the time?
Lindsay:   Oh totally.
Sherrie:   Because your family was also in real estate right?
Lindsay:   Yes.
Sherrie:   Yes, okay. So tell us about Climb?
Lindsay:   Climb is amazing, Climb is the newest opportunity for Realogy to launch a franchise business. So Climb and Corcoran are poised to expand nationally this year. Climb was founded in 2010 by Chris Lim who was an agent and saw an opportunity to really, not disrupt but just change the industry. It was really this idea of lets build something for agents by agents, and it really quickly grew in San Francisco, in the Bay area. Was recognised by Inman actually as one of the most innovative brokerages in 2016. It caught the attention of NRT and they acquired them, fast forward two years and we’re just preparing for national launch.
Sherrie:   Which is super exciting.
Lindsay:   Yeah.
Sherrie:   So tell us about, we were just mentioning off camera Airstream, so tell us a bit about what you’re doing in that space?
Lindsay:   Sure. So Climb, like I said is one of the most innovative brokerages and one of the things I love about the Climb team is we’re really always looking to draw inspiration from the world around us. Whether that’s through entertainment, food, fashion, so in this case Chris Lim was really inspired by the food truck craze. He was seeing these food trucks pop up all over the place and tacos, and burgers. He said, how can I bring in this craze into the real estate industry? So Climb has always been about mobility, we’re building a mobile first brand and he looked into getting an Airstream, and the Airstream became this staple around the Bay area within the community. Where they were rolling around and having clients jump on and learn about Climb, the Airstream went to Burning Man and Coachella, which is-
Sherrie:   No.
Lindsay:   Yes, yes it was there.
Sherrie:   So for those that don’t know what an Airstream is, tell people what.
Lindsay:   It’s a little mobile, it’s this beautiful chrome mobile, it’s almost like a mini trailer but it’s so much cooler than that. So they checked it out and they brought it around, and it became this icon of Climb Real Estate.
Sherrie:   So, that is super unbelievably cool. But the brand is really growing in leaps and bounds.
Lindsay:   Yes.
Sherrie:   You know there’s now, how many agents in the business?
Lindsay:   Roughly 200.
Sherrie:   Yeah, and I guess it’s quite well known for also having this millennial approach, but it’s not all about millennials is it?
Lindsay:   Yeah there’s definitely a younger draw to this brand, I think they were born, raised in … Born in, oh my gosh. Born in San Francisco, raised in Silicone Valley, so there’s this tech vibe. You often associate millennials with technology, but we’re really getting away from talking about millennials and focused on an idea of the connected generation. So it’s not about an age, it’s really about a mindset and that’s the business that we’re building around this connected generation.
Sherrie:   Yeah, and I think that’s really powerful because realistically I think millennials have had this horrible tag line of being sort of on the out so to speak. But really we’ve got to embrace them because they’re gonna really be taking over this industry.
Lindsay:   100%
Sherrie:   So if we’re not totally onboard then we’re out, right?
Lindsay:   I love that you say that, because I think both on the B to B and B to C side millennials have had a hard time breaking into the industry. I think from an agent perspective some brokerages don’t want the first time agent, it’s very hard to coach them up. I think that Climb is definitely poised to have those career changes, first time agents. I think they have a wonderful mentorship programme that welcomes them in. Then conversely on the consumer side a lot of people don’t want to work with millennials because they’re renters, right. They’re not really that valuable yet, but what I love about Climb is 20% of the business they do in the Bay area is actually with renters. So we’re welcoming these renters into our business, we’re creating this fierce loyalty and I think that, that’s gonna serve us really well in the long term.
Sherrie:   But I think also what we’ve been seeing about millennials is yes, they might be renting but they still also own a lot property.
Lindsay:   Yes.
Sherrie:   However, that’s just their choice to actually have that on the side-
Lindsay:   Absolutely.
Sherrie:   So they’re very savvy with investments.
Lindsay:   Absolutely.
Sherrie:   I think the stats with millennials and correct me if I’m wrong, but they actually change houses and homes every six years. So you’re actually as opposed to the typical sort of, I guess older generation, where they actually transact every 10 years.
Lindsay:   Right.
Sherrie:   So it makes more sense from an industry point of view to really embrace millennials in the marketplace as opposed to kind of push back against it. So we need to be embracing that and working with them.
Lindsay:   Absolutely.
Sherrie:   The best way to do that is work with them, right?
Lindsay:   Absolutely. You are on it.
Sherrie:   So there is something else that I wanted to talk to you about and that is you, yourself Lindsay, I mean you obviously have done some really remarkable, amazing things in this industry.
Lindsay:   Thank you.
Sherrie:   Hence, you were actually awarded in the top 20 of, was it Steven Swanepoel-
Lindsay:   Stefan Swanepoel.
Sherrie:   Oh Stefan Swanepoel most influential mover and shakers in PR and news. So tell us about that, and what that accolade meant to you?
Lindsay:   Yeah, so you know we talk about these influencers right, and it’s such an overused word and I was very honoured to be on Stefan Swanepoel social influencers list. But I think it speaks to this again idea of connected generation, I think being at conferences like this and being part of the Realogy family I’ve been afforded the opportunity to make friends around the world really. I think that, that’s been instrumental because it’s been possible because of social media. I think social media in this digital world that we’re living in, if you know how to leverage it the right way and you are generous with your expertise and you’re content, and you don’t make it about yourself. I think that it positions you to really be someone that can help others. I’ve seen not only my relationships but everybody that I’ve really met at these conferences, really benefit from this digital world we’re living in.
Lindsay:   Now it’s also really important to do the IRL, in real life connections right, when you get to these conferences. You can’t hide behind your phone anymore. So it’s really important your profile picture actually looks like you. But I think that it’s transcended the way that we do business, and I think that Climb Real Estates really gonna to leverage the digital world that we live in, and make sure that anywhere that we can automate business and bring it online, and make things easier we will. But we’ll still have those really awesome offices where people can go in and still connect with their manager, and their agents as well.
Sherrie:   Yeah, okay. So look there is something I want to talk to you about, and that is now we’re seeing the rise of the celebrity agent, right?
Lindsay:   Yes.
Sherrie:   This is the first time really in the history of real estate that this is actually been able to, agents have been able to have a higher profile than the brands or the agencies that they’re working for.
Lindsay:   Yes.
Sherrie:   So what are you really doing to work with this and to really change the mentality of I guess management, in brokerages to enhance and grow the business by this celebrity rise?
Lindsay:   I think that’s really interesting you ask that. So a few things, one Climb, we’re not really positioning ourselves, are we a brand? Absolutely, but we’re really looking at ourselves as a platform. I think you’re gonna see that in the next couple of months with the branding that comes out and the marketing that we release. In that we’re taking a step back and saying, is brand important? Yes, but at the end of the day it’s the agent that’s more important. Whether you’re influential or not, we want to allow them to raise up on our shoulders so that we can support them. But you’re right, there are these mega super influencers on Instagram, and leveraging their reach is really important and making sure that we’re serving them in any way that we can is important. I think one of the ways that we’ll be leveraging those influencers will be through our learning and training programmes. So we’ll really be looking to these influencers to give them an even higher national platform to really take their expertise, be generous, whether it’s through social or another platform. But we will be looking at them more closely, right?
Sherrie:   Yeah. Absolutely. So how do you think agents can really build their profile and become these celebrity agents?
Lindsay:   One is I think it takes time. So I think the easy way is you pay a service and you pay for likes, and engagement. I think that’s really the wrong way to do it. So I think you need to see the long game, I think that you need to really put yourself out there not in a way that’s all about yourself, but about your community. One of the things that I love about Climb is we’re so embedded into our communities, and I think that’s an instant way to grow. So I think, thinking hyper local if you’re an agent and then eventually getting to that long national game is a really good way to do it.
Sherrie:   Yeah, okay that’s wonderful and so super powerful. Well look I wanted to run through some rapid fire questions.
Lindsay:   Yes, lets do it.
Sherrie:   We are at a tech conference so let’s really talk about a little bit about tech.
Lindsay:   Great.
Sherrie:   But first of all I have to know, are you a structure or a chaotic kind of girl?
Lindsay:   I’m structure.
Sherrie:   Structure.
Lindsay:   I must be structured, yes.
Sherrie:   That doesn’t surprise me actually.
Lindsay:   Yes.
Sherrie:   What’s your favourite Instagram filter?
Lindsay:   Oh, filter, can I say hashtag no filter.
Sherrie:   Yes, I like that. It’s surprising how many people that I’ve interviewed and asked this question today have actually said that. Because they want the real and the rawness, and the authentic-
Lindsay:   Yeah, I don’t think people need to see me as a cat, a dog, or whatever extra Kylie Jenner lipstick filter. I’m comfortable in my own skin.
Sherrie:   Very important. What intrigues you? What makes you want to swipe up?
Lindsay:   Swipe up, I think I love stats, and I love learning about the industry. So anytime I can see anything about millennials in housing I think that’s something that gets me to swipe up. I love that.
Sherrie:   Okay, and your favourite like time wasting app?
Lindsay:   Oh Instagram. I put a filter where it says, okay you’ve been on for 20 minutes a day, and I dismiss it. I still am on it.
Sherrie:   20 minutes is not very long in today’s world.
Lindsay:   No, I waste a long time on Instagram.
Sherrie:   Are you Apple or Windows?
Lindsay:   Windows.
Sherrie:   Windows, okay. What’s the one tech gadget that promised to change your world but didn’t?
Lindsay:   I think you know what, like wireless mouses and keyboards I can’t get on that.
Sherrie:   Oh really?
Lindsay:   Like the kind that you bring to conferences and stuff, like I need to sit down with my laptop at a desk. Like I don’t know, I think that’s, it’s a silly answer but like I need to be attached. I love my laptop, I bring it everywhere with me.
Sherrie:   What’s the one tech gadget that did change your world?
Lindsay:   That did, I mean can I say my phone? I would rather lose anything else, maybe than like you know, my phone is my everything. Especially now with Apple Pay, I used to say oh I don’t want to lose my wallet, but if I lose my wallet I’m basically just losing a wallet. Everything is on my phone.
Sherrie:   It’s way more important.
Lindsay:   Yeah.
Sherrie:   What’s the last thing that you Googled?
Lindsay:   The last thing, probably the weather because it’s freezing here today, it’s like negative 10 outside.
Sherrie:   I know it’s crazy. What’s your favourite emoji?
Lindsay:   The blow a kiss.
Sherrie:   The blow kiss? Okay. Your guilty follows, so somebody outside of the industry that you love following?
Lindsay:   That is such a good question.
Sherrie:   Don’t tell me everything that’s on your apps are all real estate.
Lindsay:   God no, but there’s so many. I mean, I can’t even think of someone. Like you shocked me with this question. I have so many.
Sherrie:   It’s interesting, some of the people that I love following are more like quite high profile business people, and scientists. One American that really inspires me is Ruth Bader Ginsburg, because I love that she’s been a judge and that she’s basically stood up for female rights when really there wasn’t any.
Lindsay:   Right.
Sherrie:   She’s become this crazy cult icon here in the States.
Lindsay:   I love that. You know what I’ve been following a lot of like female podcasts lately, and it’s not so much celebrities but all these different like women up groups. So I think I would say all the different women of podcasts, and I’ve really been getting into that. That’s been like my, when I do go onto Instagram that’s the rabbit hole that I go down into.
Sherrie:   Love it. Well thank you so much for your time today.
Lindsay:   You’re so welcome.
Sherrie:   It’s been really nice to get to know you a little bit better, and to hear a lot more about Climb and your views, and thoughts.
Lindsay:   Thank you.
Sherrie:   So Lindsay thank you for joining us.
Lindsay:   Thank you.
Kevin:   Tomorrow we’ll come back and we’ll wrap up a great week with a chat that I had with Louise Phillips Forbes, don’t miss it, it’s gonna be very entertaining.

Celebrity Couples Who Follow Vegan Diets Together
New Post has been published on https://www.claritymakeupartistry.com/celebrity-couples-who-follow-vegan-diets-together/
Celebrity Couples Who Follow Vegan Diets Together
There’s no doubt that the vegan movement is sweeping Hollywood. Celebrities, such as Alicia Silverstone and Natalie Portman, are using their star power to push the needle forward as some of Hollywood’s most vocal vegan activists. But not all of these plant-loving stars are on their own. There are many celebrity couples where both partners swear by an animal-free diet and lifestyle.
To give you a look at which stars’ homes are meatless and free of animal products, we’ve rounded up TK celebrity couples who are vegan. Some of these couples might surprise you, while others, like Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, have been preaching the vegan lifestyle for years now. Check out which fan-favorite Hollywood couples are completely plant-based ahead.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

In 2014, Cyrus went vegan. She explained to Paper magazine that she went plant-based after her dog, Floyd, was mauled by a coyote, which led her to stop using animal products immediately. Since then, Cyrus has also raised her pig as vegan and gotten a sunflower tattoo (the logo of The Vegan Society) on her arm to celebrate her vegan lifestyle. “I realized these are intelligent animals,” she said on an episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
A year later, in 2015, Cyrus’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, followed in her vegan footsteps. He told Men’s Journal that his decision was inspired by him learning more about the abuse that went into producing meat and other animal products. “My own health, and after all the information I gathered about the mistreatment of animals, I couldn’t continue to eat meat. The more I was aware of, the harder and harder it was to do,” Hemsworth said.
Hemsworth also said that he was inspired to go vegan because of his Hunger Games costar, Woody Harrelson, who has been on the plant-based diet for more than 30 years. “I have a lot of friends who are vegan. Woody Harrelson was actually one of the original reasons I became vegan, because he’s been vegan for, I don’t know, 30 years or something. So, with the facts I was gathering, and then just how I was physically feeling, I felt like I had to do something different, so I adopted this vegan-diet lifestyle,” Hemsworth said.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi
Christopher Polk/Getty Images for People’s Choice Awards.
In 2008, DeGeneres revealed on her talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, that she became vegan after watching the documentary Earthlings. “I’ve always called myself an animal lover. And yet I ate them,” DeGeneres told Yahoo in 2012. “Someone mentioned, ‘If you knew what chicken looked like or you knew how chicken was made, you’d never eat it again. Something snapped.”
DeGeneres’s wife, Portia de Rossi, went vegan around the same time when the couple moved to a farm in California and became closer with animals. “I always thought going vegan would be difficult, but I genuinely don’t crave meat or cheese. And I feel happier, like I’m contributing to making the world a less violent place,” de Rossi told O magazine.
However, DeGeneres’s vegan journey hasn’t been without its ups and downs. At a press conference for Finding Dory in 2016, DeGeneres revealed that she started eating fish—though, she admits, that she doesn’t do it often. “When we did Nemo I was eating fish and then I became a vegan for most of those years. And then I just recently started eating fish,” she said. “I rarely eat fish. I don’t really enjoy eating fish.”
It’s unclear what DeGeneres’s diet is like today, but her comments suggest that she isn’t a fan of eating fish and might be doing so for dietary reasons.
Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady

Along with cutting out white sugar and MSG from her family’s diet, Bündchen also makes sure that her family eats vegan, which includes dishes such as veggie sushi and quinoa bowls. The model told People in 2017 that her family has been eating a plant-based diet for years. “We all love it. It’s not only good for our health and makes us feel good, but it is also good for the planet!” Bündchen said.
In addition to her two children, Vivian and Benjamin, the model’s husband, Tom Brady, also eats vegan. In 2017, the Bleacher Report reported that Brady eats vegan most of the year, which he credits to his performance on the football field. However, unlike his wife, Brady isn’t a full-time vegan. The site added that the athlete does eat lean meat in the winter.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z
Larry Busacca/PW18/Getty Images for Parkwood Entertainment.
Bey and Jay-Z made headlines in 2013 when they announced on social media that they were starting a 22-day vegan challenge, which includes 22 days of vegan-delivery service meals. Bey immediately saw the results, which included more energy, better sleep and glowing skin. “At first it’s the little things I noticed: I had more energy,” Bey told The New York Times. “The benefits of a plant-based diet need to be known. We should spend more time loving ourselves, which means taking better care of ourselves with good nutrition and making healthier food choices.”
Though the couple’s vegan diet didn’t last forever, Bey went vegan again in 2018 in preparation for her performance at Coachella. The singer instagrammed a picture of her meal—avocado toast with red peppers and onions—from 22 Days Nutrition, the same vegan delivery service she used years ago, which she and Jay-Z partnered with. It’s unclear if Bey and Jay are full-time vegans now, but with vegan delivery meals at their reach, why not?
Kat Von D and Leafar Seyer
Vivien Killilea/Getty Images for Kat von D Beauty.
Both Kat Von D and her husband, musician Leafar Seyer, are vegans. The makeup mogul took to her Facebook in 2015 to reveal that she’s been vegan for several years and dis-spell several myths about vegans. “Science and research confirms that you don’t need meat to be healthy at all, in fact statistics point to quite the opposite. No, your hair won’t fall out – mines healthy and shiny as hell,” she wrote. “No, your skin doesn’t turn yellow or gray – mine’s never looked as healthy as it does now. No, if you eat right, you won’t get all skinny and weak – I have plenty of boobs and ass, and I’M HYPER AS FUCK!”
Along with her animal-free makeup brand, Kat Von D Beauty, Von D also launched a lipstick shade called “Hilda,” which donates part of its proceeds to the Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit that advocates for animal rights. when Von D and Seyer married in the 2018, the couple also had a vegan red velvet wedding cake and plant-based catering, as well as cruelty-free outfits. The couple teased in September 2018 that they were producing a vegan documentary.
Alicia Silverstone and Christopher Jarecki

Silverstone is one of the most outspoken celebrity vegans. The actor, who wrote a vegan cookbook titled The Kind Diet in 2011, also raises a vegan family, including her son Bear and her separated husband, musician Christopher Jarecki. “People are starting to realize that it’s not just a fad,” Silverstone told Food & Wine. “I feel like it is becoming more common in our culture too, with fun and trendy plant-based restaurants popping up all over the country and even in airports. The great thing about some of these restaurants is that most of the people who choose to eat there aren’t even vegan, they just know it tastes delicious and leaves them feeling good.”
