Hello Pinky I hope you missed me and my Lynel Farm!
I got an idea which would be hilarious! Reader is a Link! But not any Link no they are Wild and the Link from TotK! And they are a MENACE! Why?
Well, Reader can use glitches like Bullet-Time Bounce or clipping or Wacko-Boingo. They also wear the Tunic of Wild. But they came after TotK to the game and they can duplicate everything! And everything is maxed out of capacity they can't carry a single drop more. Their Purah Pad is about to explode! But then just imagine their meeting.
Legend: „Seriously does anyone know where the fuck we are?!“
Wind: „It looks like a forest.“
Reader used BTB and yeeted themself above the group with their shield on their feet just to shield surf the hill down with speed.
Sky: „What was that?“
„I want that too!!“ with that Wild shield surfed the hill down too.
Twilight: „I will go and get him...“
But the whole group follows as Reader is obviously someone who knows where to go. But as they see Wild and Reader standing there face to face. They are just stunned. They look the same! But Reader is missing an arm and has a mechanical arm instead. But these two seem to get along. This is how they learned that Reader is Wild practically but instead of doing all the Beast, gathering memories and the shrines to pull the sword. They instantly went after Ganon. They fought in their underwear and some Weapons they found on their way and sticks against the Calamity. They don't even know what a Master Sword is! They did the shrines after the Calamity.
But even if they are so bubbly and well wild. They don't talk about their journey and to Twilight. They felt betrayed by him. They needed him as they woke up in a shrine without any orientation or knowledge where they are and what happened. They just needed Wolfie by their side and to help them with their upcoming panic attack. They also don't trust the Chain immediately. They could be Yiga or puppets, sorry for Spoilers, like the Zelda which they chased after in the present. And if someone asks about their journey they only tell the stories of The Hero of Wild not the Hero of Ruins, who they are now. They turn cold and say with an icy tone „It's not your business!“
But Four should never see their weapons or he gets a heart attack. They got so many cursed weapons. But Reader is also freaking strong! Lifting a claymore is hard enough but a claymore fused with another claymore, that's heavy! They fused two Biggoron Swords together or two Dusk Claymores. They also hear the poes in the Depths and that's how they got the weapons. Thanks to the talking statues.
Reader also talks more to their horse and this one isn't small! Even Ganondorf's stallion is smaller than that. It's a giant white stallion and it stomps on everything that comes across their way! With the beautiful name "Thunder" because this thing has loud stomps! But since it's so tall it also takes great maintenance and that's Reader's therapy. When they take care of their giant, they don't feel the phantom pain of losing their arm or hear the whispers of the dead. Just the snorts of their horse and the brush. They also sleep with their horse but mostly on fields or caves as forests can have Evermeans and they want to sleep one time without an ambush from everything that wants their death!
Wild and Wild obviously are all around their giant horse. Four is all about their Lynel Sword collection, swords fused with lynel horns. Twilight tries to mend the bridge while they both are carrying about their horses. Legend and Hyrule ask about the sages and their abilities. Warriors and Time tries to get them comfortable enough so they share their journey. Sky teaches them about the Master Sword but they turn off as soon as he begins with Hylia. They are an atheist they don't believe in her.
The rings from Rauru as they lost their arm are built into the artificial arm as the sages gave them an oath of loyalty.
I feel like I understood about 50% of this because I know so little about Totk.
I know about the arm of course and the the cursed weapons! XD
Four would absolutely lose his mind about them. He freaked out when Wild broke his sword on a rock- just wait until that Reader attached a rock to their sword.
I don't know if they would even know who Wolfie is. If he was never there for them since BotW, then would they even know that Wolfie was someone who would have had to there anyway?
So it would be more like-
Wild: Wolfie was a great help to me when I needed him most the first time around. Reader: ...Who? Wild: The wolf... the wolf that followed me- us- you (?) around? Reader:.... Nope. I don't have a clue who you're talking about.
And another note, I do think that they wouldn't trust the chain off the bat though. You're right. They could be yiga in disguise. A new threat to the the land or to Zelda. There's just something off about them that Reader wouldn't have been able to tell what it was.
Especially since they might not even have all their memories anyway. If they did the shrines after Ganon, then who's to say they would have bothered with doing them all anyway? They coudl have just checked out a few, got bored and left it at that.
They might not have any of their memories and are perfectly fine that way.

Posting an (edited down) conversation with my buddy @dreamcrow because I am!!!!!! Still so in love with the shadow temple and so sad we didn’t get one
I still am team ‘Mineru should’ve been a villain/optional temple boss depending on your choices’ Hear me out the reveal could’ve been that she also disagreed with her brother’s behavior and thought she could work with Gan to stop it but obvs didn’t realize gan was going to murder Sonia, but now she’s in too deep and Rauru will never forgive her because she’s been the one behind the puppet zelda — so you confront her in the shadow temple, nintendo and she tells you about the ugly parts of the war that zelda didn’t see, and she sealed herself and her best weapon inside the temple because her tech got corrupted and killed people and she helped the Zonai and Ganon do harm to everyone, and now the Yiga are trying to break in and take her best weapon, so you can either forgive her and she joins the sage party and helps you fight the Yiga or you can choose not to forgive her and she’ll fight you and when you win you get her weapon (to fight the yiga)
It’s ‘Tales of’ Franchise rules. Someone is optional lol And her boss fight is not a mech it’s her doing the phantom Ganon and making doubles that can harm you but you harming them doesn’t matter, plus her tech will also attack you Do the shadow temple callback of needing a special item to see her true body in the dark of the temple
Or better yet she can abandon her body in the dark where you can’t get it and randomly possess tech among the throngs that attack you and you have to figure out which one is her (like the block mechs you fight)
crow: give me son of bongo bongo
WHAT IF YOU FORGIVE MINERU AND YALL BRACE FOR WHAT YOU THINK IS THE YIGA BUT ITS JUST YEAH THE AGGRAVATED WRATHFUL FUCKED UP SPIRIT OF A SHEIKAH KILLED BY HER TECH DURING THE GREAT WAR
WHO IS NOW ALSO ANGRY AT YOU FOR ABSOLVING HER
crow: and when you crawl out of the wreckage of the temple afterwards it's up through the kakariko village well
God crow I would’ve screamed
I would’ve had to lay on the floor for an hour The horror of the depths … plus the horror of the shadow temple………pls….
Also I fully understand that they did the lightning stuff for gerudo valley but what if the spirit temple was not a full boss-loaded temple it was just a historical place you could go in the desert
What if you could go see the desert colossus what if you could go in and the statue inside’s face is missing as a callback to Twinrova being in there
Maybe there’s a cool weapon in that chamber idk
Dual-wield wands one fire and one ice(edited)
Even if it wasn’t like fully recognizable anymore because it’s super old but it was built into the mountain wall so like what if you could find remnants of it like what if you were in a random cave in the valley and you walked into a room and it was like ‘Spirit Temple’ and you were like ‘wHAT’
crow: right!!
Find twinrova’s TotK masks in there,,,bring them back to the gerudo and they give you lore
What if we could have extra non-Zelda pov flashback cutscenes of the past
Find artifacts in different areas and they give you magic flashbacks from whoever owned them and they’re all original lore but also have fun callbacks to other games

So TotK seems to be clicking where BotW wasn't. Any insight on what the key differences are that work for you?
note: i played botw up until the calamity ganon fight and then went "yeah ok ive played a zelda game before", put it down and never went back. didnt play the dlc
i dont think anyone would be surprised to know that im a "majoras mask was the best zelda" guy but the reason has little to do with the "darker tone" or the lore but because reusing assets allowed the dev team to greatly (GREATLY in this case holy shit) expand on the actual contents of the game itself. i love gold/silver best for the same reason.
botw is like running around an empty movie set. theres nothing in that fucking game. at the time, due to the proliferation of crafting mechanics infesting literally every AAA game, it felt like nintendo was more focused about hitting all the checks on a checklist of tired mechanics that were included just for the sake of saying they had it. crafting! weapon durability! open world! pbbbbt.
none of these things proved to be enjoyable to me. keeping in mind that ive been playing zeldas since the snes (skipping only a handful of handheld games), the changes felt like steps away from what makes zelda games unique. crafting felt like an arbitrary step between me and potions. i wanted to swing my master sword with power, not experiment with clumsy weapons that stop existing after i finally get a feel for them. and the open world, frankly sucked.
mm rewarded me for my curiosity. experimentation and exploration would lead to interesting or gratifying results (did you know theres a paper airplane in ikana canyon...). botw is like playing in the window xp background. theres barely any landmarks, except shrines, or anything to do outside of getting the yiga clan's ass. theyre easy to pick out because theyre literally the only people on the road. the world is put to waste; i cant play with it, i can just observe and be extremely artificially hindered by its vastness.
this doesnt really fit anywhere else in the above open world rant, but trading the shrines for small and sparce dungeons was a huge let down. i was hoping for a series of cohesive puzzles intended to help my mastery of my newest weapon or ability. you know. like a zelda game
totk fixed this and every other problem in the best way possible; the devs dumped a ton of toys into my playpen, gave me a hot glue gun, and told me to go buck wild. i love to build a horrible contraption to solve my stupid problems or kill me instantly. i love that experimenting with weapons involves actual experimentation if you desire or you can have an inventory exclusively full of spear type weapons with vastly different properties by gluing a bunch of rocks or monster parts to it. but most importantly....the "stock up->head out->explore->return" loop no longer feels like i have to go to the dmv over and over.
sure, the depths are artificially large in the way that the map in botw was; theres not a lot to do except reveal the map and do plot stuff. but the overworld was given a complete overhaul using the empty map as a starting point. theres actually stuff to look at, ruins to explore, caves to investigate, holes to jump into, and all that shit in the sky to explore. the sky map might be sparse but its meticulously crafted so that just the process of explorating the archipelagos feels like a puzzle you need to solve, as opposed to a hurdle you have to jump.
there is so much more to do in totk that im pretty sure im over 20 hours in and havent done any of the regional main quests. ive been running around picking up side quests, uncovering the map, exploring the depths, fucking around in the sky, and dying my clothes. but its not annoying or overwhelming. it feels more alive and less like a weird map in an abandoned gmod server. im having fun.
for crit: imo, one of the biggest criticisms i have for both these games is that the voice acting is horrendous. nintendo has too much money to be tapping people who sound like they just got out of the shenmue soundbooth. zelda was not improved by voice acting and they should probably go back to everyone just having short exclamations like "HEH HEEH!" or "hmmm...".
also link doesnt roll anymore and its really fucking me up. im really struggling here lol. i keep trying to do dark souls shit and every fight involves me accidentally zooming in with the sheikah slate instead of locking on, hitting l1 istead of shield, and whistling for my horse instead of drinking estus.
also nerf rain

Okay this WILL BE SPOILERS. For totk.
THE GREAT PLATEAU IS CURSED I DONT LIKE IT ToT.
Made it here fine! Easy cruising altitude got the map landed no problem. Minimal enemies. There's a YIGA camped in MY MFING SHRINE OF RESURRECTION. It's all overgrown, that's fine ig, but the YIGA?? Get tf. Out.
Go see the temple, a new message from hylia! Very ominous, but yes ma'am! Off we go to free her from the water under the stone gate. Which gate? Well my first thought was the main blocked off entrance that's now a pond. But let's get a shrine first.
Shrine?? Hello???!
So not only is each original shiekah shrine now a pit to tartarus, there's only one new shrine tucked in the back end of the plateau where a goblin camp used to be. Fine! I'll just run everywhere on foot with my +1 stamina, shall I??
No! It's time for a wtf to hunt you down! The air will turn red with racing clouds, the sky is dark, music is playing backwards, I'm launching myself up the nearest tree and it still isn't fast enough. This is literally the fifth or sixth time I've encountered these, at least two directly ending in my death. They don't even get a question mark from the camera unlike any other miasma monster (for example the depth enemies). I've filled them with bomb arrows and it's made a fraction of a dent in one of them. Hateful hydra eye arm things. They're FAST and TALL. It's like the spindly flesh monster from oot but a hundred times worse. They nearly managed to reach me in the tallest tree!
They eventually leave - whatever triggers their disappearance I truly cannot tell - and grab the dark shards they leave. Okay! Cool! Unappreciated! I go into the pit by the lake, it is VERY SCARY, I get some light roots and reveal a whole civilisation! Giant zelda statues point to an enormous building in the shadows, I pluck up my courage and go over. ???? It's a poe eater statue. Enormous. Full bodied. Stretching down below the bridge I'm on. It's got six sunken eyes and they're all looking at me. I'm absolutely begging this thing not to move, I'm literally inching closer. This isn't a zonai carving at all, this isn't even a zonai room. They've dug into the rock, they DISCOVERED it.
It says the same thing.
I'm terrified. I'm beginning to think that whatever talked to me through the hylia statue, in the temple of time, with her voice and her light, isn't hylia.
Still, I've come too far to back out. I don't think denying this thing is wise.
Up I go! Run all the way from the shrine, off the edge, detour to find a new type of cave goblin or two, blow up the blocked entrance to the plateau. Through the carvings I can make out sort of a face? Hope it's hylia!
It. It isn't. It's the six eyed triangle face that eats souls :). Tells me to go back to the temple. I run onto the plateau (!!! Botw me would be so excited), get ambushed by four black armoured Bokoblins in a row, see 'hylia'. It tells me to bring its body in the depths stones from the four ex shrine pits 'for a reward'.
Nintendo.
What did you do?

I’d forgotten just how aggressive the Yiga Clan got after Kohga ended up slipping and falling into the Yiga Hole. Like, pre-Naboris, they’d at least put up the pretense of being a totally normal traveler and wait on the established walking trails for Link to come to them, but now they’re randomly attempting drive-bys when he’s minding his own business looking for Koroks.
Granted, they’re a lot easier now that I’ve leveled the world up and have better offensive and defensive options, but the Windblades are still pretty tanky and not people you want to run into while you’re dealing with a major enemy ambush.
But, yeah, they are pissed and majorly out for blood. Not to the same levels they were in Age of Calamity where they were throwing whole platoons of expendable dudes at you, but, honestly, they’re a lot less goofy when they’re one-on-one threats that require focus to deal with. I’m wondering if they’ll keep up that aggressive approach in TotK (at least, until you can either set them up with a new leader or somehow fish Kohga out of the cave system under Gerudo Highlands).

Now that I've been done with Tears of the Kingdom for like 2 weeks, my thoughts on it have solidified. Spoiler free thoughts: the major elements of the game (dungeons, bosses, main quest) are a lot better than Breath of the Wild, but its moment to moment gameplay leaves me wanting something more, or really something else.
Minor spoilers below.
The depths are neat but very underbaked. Without shrines or much scenery to explore, it felt like a gear dump. Like you go down there for gear, bombs, and zonaite and that's about it beyond the ocassional hideout. The sky islands are very cool, but there are too few of them, and the ones that are there are too samey. There are like 5 separate islands that are essentially copypasted. You know the ones: there's like a crooked x bit and a launcher in the middle, a gacha dispenser, and a "fetch the crystal" shrine. The low gravity areas were very cool, but only used rarely. I could live with repeats if they're at least reskinned. But the depths and the sky islands were all visually almost identical, so no areas really stand out: the gerudo sky and the akkala sky look exactly the same, and the areas underground are also indistinguishable. Caves are fine, only one really impressed me (the big lookout landing shelter hole that leads to hyrule castle was cool as hell). Again, they're all visually indistinct, and follow the same formula (other than the eldin ones that are spicy).
It feels incoherent in a way that Breath of the Wild didn't. It's like a lot of little ideas packed together that don't necessarily mix. The shrines felt a little better than BotW's, and I'm very glad the tests of strength were gone, but most feel a bit insubstantial, like a massive snack instead of a meal (a problem in BotW too, but given the time they had, it's a shame there wasn't more done with them).
Ultrahand is really the only new ability worth a damn. Fuse is just ultrahand, and quickly becomes a routine necessity instead of a fun bonus. Ascend is just a quality of life feature outside of maybe two overworld boss fights. Recall is useful for puzzles, but rarely any good outside of that. In contrast, I used bombs, ice, and stasis all the time. Magnesis was no good, ultrahand is a straight upgrade there. I just don't really care about the vehicles. It's not what I play zelda for, and it's not what I play games generally for.
I think it's really hurt by being so similar to BotW at its core. Breath felt like a big jump forward, something new and exciting for zelda and a high water mark for open world games. TotK feels incremental, a decent refinement in some ways, and a frustrating step back in others. If it came out 2-3 years after BotW instead, that might have helped. As it is now, i don't think it will stand the test of time in a way that Breath of the Wild has. I don't feel like going back and replaying it.
It's fine. Middle of the pack zelda. Fun bosses, great final boss fight, cool story, and a few good side quests like the yiga stuff. Unfortunately, everything in the middle is kind of goopy and undefined. It slipped out of my mind as soon as I was done. Very few of the locations stand out in my memory, unlike how they did originally in Breath of the Wild. I still remember climbing dueling peaks the first time, watching the sunset in lurelin, camping on a mountainside and waiting for a dragon to come by, jumping off the great plateau for the first time. In TotK, I remember the water, lightning, and wind temple, and the underground yiga hideout. I remember fiddling with car parts and glider angles and a hot air balloon not working quite right. I remember my gerudo gf (Calyban 💙 Link) that lived in front of a cooking pot and grinding for rupees and monster parts.
I liked the idea of rebuilding hyrule and forming connections, but it didn't really work in practice. The game is left in this awkward middle ground where it's not empty enough to feel intentionally lonely, and not deep and crowded enough to feel lively. It also feels weirdly discontinguous from BotW for a direct sequel. It feels more like a do-over or retcon, like how Deltarune remixed people and places from Undertale, but it shouldn't since it's the same world, the same canon. There's very little from your previous adventure that carries over or that anyone mentions, even though it's only been a few years. The timeline between the two is very messy as well, but that doesn't really matter. It just feels off.
There's a lot to be said about how a game feels, about what it evokes and how, beyond or in tandem with the mechanics. BotW felt almost like a semi-transcendental meditation, a lonely journey through the wilderness, a piece of art with Something To Say about games, the series, maybe even life. TotK feels like a video-game-ass video game, like a lego set. If the temples and bosses were lifted from Tears and put into Breath (and maaaybe the building stuff was added as like a big expansion to BotW) I don't think anything of great value would really be lost. Some of the character work was nice, but there's not enough of it.
I really wish they would make something smaller, more inventive, and more intentional next. I want less control, less stuff, more feeling. But given the sales and praise for TotK, I sincerely doubt that will happen. Instead, we'll wait 7 more years for "another one."
And where the hell is my big bird man Kass

here's my two cents on the new totk trailer, some of this may have already been said idk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay so for the green swirly things that we've been seeing since the first trailer, a lot of people have been saying they think these are gonna be totk shrines, and that could be the case but I actually think they're gonna be entrances to an underground cave system, like where we see ganondorf in the first trailer. bc zelda and link look like they're exploring underground, and that's the first time we see these spiraly things, what if they're teleports that take u to caves or tunnels or stuff underground? would be cool
Tumblr media
THIS THING!!! i actually didnt realize until i saw this exact frame, but on the wall behind link you can see a sheikah eye symbol and the like little pieces of paper that u see around the yiga clan hideout a lot. that makes me think that this might take place in some sort of yiga clan hideout-esque area, like a dungeon of some sort that isnt just a shrine, but it would probably belong to the sheikah and not the yiga bc the eye is rightside up. (also link looks so cute in this frame)

ok im playing more zelda!! i feel awful this is literally all i can do rn
you know i miss the match over bell from botw. it was so good
FAIRIES IN THIS CAVE...thank god
i fucking hate this place btw. rauru's settlement or whatever. i hate bottomless bogs
i guess in regards to gameplay it's not that different than lava - more forgiving, even! lava kills you instantly and sometimes you can fight your way out of a bog! - but it FEELS worse. it's uglier for one thing
i'm really close to the lost woods so i'm gonna see if i can navigate it without a torch! since i can see the wind blowing. i have so many korok seeds to trade in lol
took me one false start but i made it! i just had to walk veeery slowly lol
MAXED OUT my weapon storage already. damn.
going to check out a tiny chasm i've been eyeballing forever. i deserve a break
i used to feel so nervous being this close to hyrule castle in botw...the hills between it and the lost woods...it's not as bad in totk although i am still hugging the water. i don't want the music to play lol
fucking korok seed i was supposed to get by starting a fire and using a pinecone to go straight up. it was raining. i had to make the most convoluted structure out of dead trees it took FOREVERRR
how exciting!! after awhile away from the depths i land right on top of a yiga camp AND i can see an easy lightroot from here. a gentle reintroduction
ooh, this book talks about lights that appear and then vanish....that's fucking spooky. i hope they dont mean hands lol
ive been wanting to try "hoverbikes" that ive heard about and theres some fans here, so
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OH THIS IS THE MOST FUN IVE EVER HAD. WOW
ok my bike died but for a test run that was NOT bad
this area is all explored except this one dark spot that i've just now lit up...i'll grab a few poes and go somewhere else
i'm gonna go to goron city and buy my stupid fire helmet. i swear if i don't kill that gleeok on lake hylia i'll die
oh! i found the goron brothers house! kabetta's diary...
uh oh, it's his marbled rock roast descent
ooh, i found the sidequest to get a boulder breaker!!
where tf do i get a cobble crusher these days i wonder...
god i forgot how fun minecarts are. i saw one of the oldstyle ones on my way by...
kilton's balloon! or um. whoever he is lol <3 i have TOOOONS of gems to trade
it's not the same here without the lava, but at least there's lava in the caves...
these mine cart tracks were RIDICLOUS. i got SO STUCK lol
i see dinraAl but im too close to the ground 😭
OOOOHHHHH maybe i can use a hoverbike.....i gotta finish this fight first lol
GOT A COBBLE CRUSHER.....oh man i almost LEFT these guys to go chase dinraal!!!
ok ok gotta hurry
so, this bike doesn't control as well as i';'d like...maybe i need practice...and of course i wish it was faster...but it's still REALLY cool
my battery keeps dying/my bike keeps falling :( i give up
ugh i have so much anxiety about dragon parts.
VAH RUDANIA HELM??????? HELLOOOOOO
oh my god...i didnt even have this in botw, i dont have the amiibo card....................
aw i found some monster forces guys. of COURSE im gonna help them
OH we still get the bell after monster forces battles...good
NO FUCK AND THEY JUST LEFT. AND THERE'S ABOUT TO BE A BLOOD MOON LOL
i didnt get all my loot yet!! no one to help me when they come back!! im gonna die!!!
im not leaving w/o my Loot. i'll just have to do it on my own. thank god i have muddlebuds
GEEZ i did it. double loot
i can see the edge of the map! that sort of thing always did fascinate me...some of the textures are warped here lol that's creepy
ok, i looked it up and apparently i made my hoverbike wrong. im gonna try again w proper instruction!!
ok, new bike got me up to the top of gut check rock...it still has too much forward momentum for me, but i've seen a couple of different designs i wanna experiment with when i have more fans (currently only have 2 left in inventory)
i miss the goron blood brothers :( i mean it's so depressing that there's nothing up here but a korok seed...
ANOTHER EVENTIDE SHRINE. FUCK ME SIDEWAYS i hate this bs!!!
ok fine that wasnt that bad. STILL
bike is LOTS harder to control with a korok on the back. i like of like the counterweight though to help with too much momentum...
the bike lists to one side! i definitely just need to improve my fan placement
woke up the horse god. JUST as unsettling as i remember.
omg the yiga hideouts REFILL after long enough. rip!
decided to fight the pirates while i was here. "monster forces"...hope i'm not supposed to be teaming up with anyone for this lol
i accidentally hit my bike during combat and it went over the side of the boat 😭 i can make another and i was gonna fast travel after this anyway but STILL......
AUGH it's dinraal again and once again i can't chase her...i know how to do the bike now but i don't have it and also i'm busy!!!!! ugh
248 korok seeds!! officially time for bed - when i started today i was somewhere in the mid 100s lol
i thought i wouldn't play enough tonight to need to make multiple posts but i guess i should have broken this one up, huh? whoops!

(general impressions after playing TotK for 3 days, encountered enemies and areas, staying way from major plot stuff for the moment)
so Nintendo really went "we heard your complaints about breakable weapons, so we've decided to double down on that", huh?
BotW was a quiet place, TotK not so much. I do like that these NPCs are actively involved in trying to improve their situation (looking at you BotW and also Fallout4), and what's more they're enthusiastic about helping Zelda and Link
I am less thrilled about how many puzzles are now social puzzles. I'd much rather spend half an hour figuring out the Wasteland Tower in BotW than petty social drama where I need to take sides and I don't know these people and stuff is Implied and potentially Ruined Forever if I chose a wrong option and AAAAH
I'm just gonna say it, I miss the Bomb Rune. It was renewable, I could mine for resources without using up my tools, I had control over what I blew up
All the stuff that is fenced off not because there's an enemy I can't defeat yet, but because someone wants 200 pies or something and you need to talk to someone for the recipe first, but they won't talk to you unless [thing] and if you expect me to keep track of all they said without losing focus, well I don't know what to tell you
if this resource scarcity keeps up, I'm just going to farm and grind my 50 animal crossing amiibo cards. Sure that's boring, but what's more boring is Link's outfit and how I still don't have even enough rupees for the sheikah pants. My Link does not stomp!
also I miss my Majora's Mask. I miss peace and love on the planet Hyrule. I play stealth and now I can't play to my strengths T_T (and yeah maybe Kilton is still out there, but how useful are masks that only fool one type of enemy at a time?) I want to look at a bug or whatever without having to run away from stalkoblins and moblins all the time
the building stuff mechanic is ...okayish. I'm not MacGyver or that elementary school classmates who built rube goldberg machines out of erasers, okay? At some point I'm just going to smash my switch against the wall in frustration. Probably(?) not the emotion the developers were trying to evoke (My worst case scenario is if they expect me to be good at this under time pressure and oh yeah also we hope you like escort missions. Timed ones, naturally 🙃🙃🙃)
I came across some Yiga in a cave, they're even more hilarious than the last time. Writing fanfic in my head about them already (message me if you want to know)
Link exploring underground cave stuff for hours on end just to Not Deal With People

MORE TOTK THOUGHTS CAUSE OMFG I LOVE THIS GAME SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT:::
first things first KOHHHHHGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
when he fell into the yiga pit in the first game he fell into the depths!!!
how tf did kohga survive the fall damage
im super interested to go to the gerudo tower now and see if somethings underneath that. ive only explored a tiny bit of the depths god theyre the coolest thing ever
oh my fucking god im fighting kohga with 6 hearts and no weapons how did i get here
when i fought him in botw i had 20+ hearts and full weapon slots full of royal claymores and broadswords and thunderweapons. and a fully upgraded mastersword. oh my fucking god.
help
yiga mask outfit/armor :DDD HATE that they took over king rhoams plateau house though
AND THE COLISIUM???????????
girl.
68 koroks :')
this twink should not have a drivers liscense i cannot fucking drive
i accidently went to lurelin village and had an absolute blast clearing out all the enemies and now im starting to rebuild :D i love having good combat in this game that isnt just smashing things with a stick. i love you flurry rushes i love you stealth i love you critical hits i love you arrow head shots i love you elemental attacks i love you switching weapons midfight i love you bullet time i love you yeeting random fruits at enemies i love you smacky effects that look cool
very excited to eventually go fetch all the lurelin villagers who fled ala tarrey town residents
armor peices i have include the fierce deity boots, shock armor chest peice, royal guards tunic, DARK TUNIC :DDD hylian hood + pants + tunic, barbarian chest peice, ceces wig, yiga mask, and desert voe headpeice.
findign the dragon tears is so fun. i know i said this already but wandering the glyphs just genuinely makes me smile
i went to the forgotten temple. feels horribly incorrect. how did they get the guardians out????? this feels like the one place in the game they should still be. not alive or searchable, just acting as rocks for you to remember and ponder over
speaking of the forgotten temple. holy fuck those backrooms. absolutely stunning sad about the goddess statue but my god that map took my breath away. i know nothing wll be back there in botw but still i want to see people clip behind the goddess statue now
i spent like 2 hours running around what was left of hyrule castle on the ground trying to find my champions tunic. no dice
im not strong enough to fight lynels but they look soooooo cool i want those horns SOOOOO bad
im starting to experiment more with combining things now. both with fuse and seperate abilities. i got a wing glider to travel from no where by holding it in the air, dropping it, climbing on and using recall. i had a full inventory of mushroom spears for about 10 minutes. diy elemantal swords. giant stick boomerang. boulderang. two swords glued together boomerang. frozen boomerang which is op as fuck. i watched someone use ascend by stacking 4 shrine spheres on top of each other. why would i make a boring car when i can slap 4 fans and a rocket on a tree i knocked over. diy catapults i take 4 hearts of damage from. zonai trampolines that always set me backwards and make me take a billion hearts of damage. fire shield that should probably be giving link third degree burns. hes too powerful.
theres less people at the stables ive noticed. but not a ton out wandering the world? eyes emoji
SESAMI ON EVENTIDE LMAOOOO i also went there accidently and then ditched him after doing his quest. did he abandon his friends this time.
still no fuckign paraglider :(((((((
im hardly doing any main story yet, no zora no rito no gorons no gerudo, and i dont plan to for a while. i just want to run across the middle worlds and dick around and find koroks and find caves and do side quests exactly like i did botw. ive had a smile on my face every minute ive played the past week. im having so much fun doing nonsense.
everything is gorgeous and i am in love

Tears of the Kingdom: People in Trouble
Hi! This is my first Zelda theory and my first post ever! Really I just need an outlet to put all my thoughts because none of my friends play video games. I apologize if this post is all over the place.
Ok to get into it, first I wanna state that I am elaborating on Monster Maze’s Secrets of the Surface video he posted recently. I highly recommend watching the video along with Monster Maze’s other content!
youtube
With the new trailer drop and release of the official artwork for Tears of the Kingdom, many theorists have noticed two main things: Death Mountain being blocked by Malice and a wind tunnel somewhere in the Tabanatha/Hebra region.
Tumblr media
In Monster Maze’s video, he theorized what exactly is going on with Hyrule’s surface. He states that perhaps Ganon is attacking the races of Hyrule with natural disasters along with their Divine Beasts. I think that Ganon is not only doing this, but purposely trying to put the Divine Beasts out of commission so they can’t be used against him once again. In a game perspective, having all the Sheikah technology accessible to us in ToTK would be dull and we’ve already seen a lack of Sheikah Towers and Shrines in the teasers we’ve received. Explaining the absence of Sheikah towers and Sheikah shrines are easy- they aren’t needed and have sunken into the ground for the next Hero. The Divine Beasts although we’re dug up, so they have no mechanism that would explain why they disappeared into the ground. Therefore it’s a possibility that the game developers solution to this is to make the Divine Beasts unusable.
First up, the Gorons and Vah Rudania.
It’s obvious to see from the trailer and artwork that Death Mountain is blocked by malice, much like how malice is rising from under Hyrule Castle.
“If” (quotations because it’s basically confirmed) Ganondorf is underground somewhere then the malice rising from the earths crust make a lot of sense. The malice is releasing out onto the surface, and hopefully we see more evidence of this predicament in other places such as the Yiga hole or the other caves surrounding Hyrule.
So how does this affect the Gorons and Vah Rudania?
Well first off, no lava means no rock roasts. In BOTW, gorons eat “rock roasts” which look like rib of magma rock. In the side quests “A Brother’s Roast”, Blado asks Link to find a rock roast for his Gonguron who collapse in Gorko Tunnel. After eating the roast, Gonguron has enough strength to pound a wall of rocks away to reveal a shrine. Rock Roasts give the Gorons a burst of energy that practically revitalizes them.
Because Death Mountain is blocked by malice and therefore the lava flow is stopped, we can assume the gorons are in a food drought. I don’t think Nintendo would portray the extremities of such a situation, but we can expect tired sluggish Gorons. This in turn effects the mines, that would most likely not be in use due to low energy and lack of food. If that’s the case, the economy of Gordon City would also be poor as BOTW explained that the Gorons sell the minerals from their ore deposits as they are inedible to them.
Assuming the Divine Beasts can be seen (not used) in this game, Vah Rudania would be largely effected. Vah Rudania is always found high atop Death Mountain, circling its crater. What if Vah Rudania is in the volcano, blocked by the malice? We know that Vah Rudania can fit easily inside from BoTW. The malice may be erupting from Death Mountain, imprisoning Vah Rudania and afflicting the Gorons in triple whammy disaster.
Next, the Rito and and Vah Medoh.
It’s hard to tell where this wind tunnel, tornado like column is based of the artwork alone, but in Monster Maze’s video he placed it in the Tabanatha and Hebra region due to the angle and BOTW map. Either way, the actual appearance of the tunnel is strange, as it clearly isn’t forming from the sky like a tornado does. Instead, their seems to be a center that is gathering hot and cold air on the ground surface creating the phenomenon.
No matter where the tunnel is, it would hugely effect the Rito’s and their flight habits. Every Rito would be unable to navigate the strong winds in fear of getting sucked into the vortex, therefore their whole way of life is disrupted. They could be trapped in Rito village in a forced shelter in place. Those were at the flight range and Warbler’s nest may never be able to fly back home, instead being forced to walk to reach the village. If things are really extreme such as a tornado is, the vortex could be sucking away parts of the village, including the bridges leading to it.
Depending on where the tunnel is, the Ritos may be able to evacuate to another part of Hyrule like lower Tabantha or Northern Hebra near the labyrinth. This would be a cool way to change up the location of the Ritos and serve as a way to change up Hyrule’s landscape that we explored in BOTW.
As Monster Maze theorized, it’s makes the most sense for the wind tunnel to be surrounding Hebra mountain as the area in BOTW served little purpose besides shrines, a leviathan, and shield surfing. If the eye of the storm is Rito Village, that will also pose as a great danger for the Rito.
No matter where, Vah Medoh would be grounded, unable to navigate through the strong winds that could suck the divine beast into the vortex of the tunnel. Like the Rito, it would lose its main function and therefore unusable for anyone to use against Ganon.
Additionally, it would make sense if the Rito couldn’t fly, as we know ToTK features sky islands. No Rito to help Link up to the islands!
Though we don’t see any proof of these disasters inflicting the Zora and the Gerudos, I’ve theorized a couple of ways Ganon can disrupt their life.
The Zora and Vah Ruta are easier to theorize about as water can be involved in so many natural disasters. In BOTW, the Zora featured an endless amount of rain so it’s unlikely Nintendo would pull that again. That leaves a drought, a flood, or Zora’s domain freezing over. It would be a nice throwback to OOT and TP to see the domain frozen again, causing the Zora Springs to stop flowing. A flood is entirely possible, as said in BOTW that the East Reservoir could flood with Ruta’s rain.
Another possibility is that the domain is filled with the pools of malice seen in Hyrule Castle Town, the Akkala Citadel, etc. in BOTW. This would be an interesting way to plague the Zora’s who can’t swim in the malice waters.
I’d like to think of we’d get a combination resulting in both the pools of malice and the Zora Springs being dried up. That way the whole landscape of Hyrule is change as the rivers and lakes would also dry as a result, while the pools of malice would be a new affliction never seen in a LOZ game.
Either way, the Zora and Vah Ruta wouldn’t function.
Lastly, the Gerudos and Vah Naboris.
This is tough because BOTW already saw sand storms plaguing Gerudo desert and there isn’t much else to cause such a disruption.
The most logical thing I could come up with is a monsoon. Heavy rainfalls that disrupt the sand dunes, causing them to shift and unearth structures (like the Arbiter’s ground perhaps). A monsoon would cause landslides that could devastate Gerudo Town, burying it in sand and causing food and goods to be damaged.
Vah Naboris too could be buried within the sand dunes, the grains cogging up the machine so it’s unable to move at all.
All of this could accumulate into one of the things Zelda fans were missing in BOTW: dungeons.
Dungeons centered around freeing the races and their divine beasts from the disasters, allowing for a traditional Zelda experience.
Overall, I would like to see a change in Hyrule’s geography and I think it would be interesting if these natural disasters did so! I have more to say on the Hyrulian and Sheikah but I don’t want to make this post longer than it already is. More to follow!

TotK Session from today: I finished the shrine that I started last time but didn't finish. The one with the sand and the bridges. Kind of an annoying shrine. And I worked pretty hard for a chest with... ten arrows in it... Then outside the shrine I noticed the Gerudo statues and decided to follow them to the treasure. I actually found the cave and the treasure in it! Then I decided to go back and check out a certain part on the map. I found a vehicle and used it to drive to the Yiga Hideout, but they didn't let me in. I first need their armour. I have one piece already. Then let's go into the underground! There we fought Koga for the second time. Once he was beaten, he said where he went and me and my husband (who watched) were like "Why do you say exactly where you are heading?!" I then decided to light all the roots in the Gerudo desert underground. I also found a place FULL of gibdos. I killed them for their materials. And that was it for today's session. Next time I am going to check out the shrines in the desert.

Ok I just thought of a funny idea for the totk part of the story as that’s when caves were really introduced and it became a i wonder how totk regional thing would play out as it is a 2-3 year gap after botw and this whole idea thing came up:
Link is in a cave before going to lookout landing after getting of the great sky island, as he is walking he finds he is near a malice black boss bokoblin and its pack and still recovering from gloom link doesn’t have the strength to attack the malice monsters and tries to hide but finds no where to do so and debating on teleporting as he hears the monsters get closer…
Only for a hand to cover his mouth and yank him up to the ceiling, he struggles for a few seconds till he hears by his ear: oy is that how you greet a old buddy~
Link stops as the hand is moved away and sees recksin holding him out of the malice monster group’s path by staying on the ceiling and since hylians can’t be upside down long recksin puts link on its chest as it crawls on the ceiling taking link out of the cave without being spotted by the boss boko or its troop.
After they get out recksin joins link as it found it weird as malice monsters have returned since they thought they dealt with a lot of the malice stuff when they beaten the calamity, and link says it might be because of this demon king and the gloom illness but gloom on malice free monsters affects them like it does all the other races just makes them sick doesn’t effect them with malice or control them.
Link then suggests they visit Robbie as it’s has been a while since recksin had its prosthetic looked at, recksin then asks link has it seen the other malice free monsters as it was helping purah and Robbie by checking out the caves that appeared near the base called lookout landing
It then asks link what in the sacred realm happened to link’s arm using its prosthetic arm to grab link’s new arm, so link tells it what happen when he and Zelda went into the caves under hyrule castle on the way back to look out where some of his other malice freed monster allies (from the RATC group or just random freed monster npcs) are at lookout helping as part of the zonai research group.
Purah then tells link that all the main members of link’s found monster family (mostily the main group in RATC like recksin, sledge and co) are scattered helping with other freed monsters due to the region phenomenons: example: ashen and the lynel character are helping the rito against the weird blizzard that showed up ashen thinks it’s caused by a magical creature but they don’t know where. Or sterre and sledge were helping the gorons but they noticed yunobo acting off since Zelda showed up also acting weird. Maybe Rezek and the gibdo character plus it’s freed hive and queen helping the gerudo against the malice hive and queen, and Kobb and Zayl were helping the zora with a weird sludge problem that’s making zora sick
Recksin tells link it noticed along with the reports from the others zelda showed up at each village before the issues happened there but they happened all around the same time as soon as the upheaval happened, and with sledge and sterre’s report about Zelda seeming off almost as sledge put it: malice gibdo like in the not listening well with abit of puppet like motions she didn’t even talk.
Link then asks about kakariko and Robbie says they too had a visit from zeda but she was off too wren and Dorian think it’s not even the real one as the yiga are Great at disguising and when something is acting they way they aren’t, and one of the ruins there a floating one got this weird barrier around it after the Zelda left after Dorian said to paya who is now cheif of the village something was off with Zelda
Link then agrees something must be off as Zelda if she visited all the villages of hyrule’s races and didn’t talk or tell them what happened down in the castle something is up… recksin joins link as a way of helping him (like how the sage avatars do) using a device Robbie made for the purah pad which allowed link’s monster or hyrule race allies to teleport to his side and travel with him but if link doesn’t need them they also can easily return to lookout landing or one of the villages to help them recover from the region issue examples being the gerudo or rito as their regional issue caused more destruction then the gorons or zora
Also you mentioned you wanted a gibdo queen fight I can imagine gerudo town getting wrecked due to the malice queen throwing the freed queen into the walls and etc. meaning rebuilding will take time after link helps repel the malice gibdo queen saving the freed queen from dying by the malice queen’s hand basically add two side mission things before the lighting temple like the queen fight takes place during the protect gerudo town which the gerudo have no choice but to evacuate down a tunnel the freed gibdo made them going towards the canyon due to the queens fight almost destroyed the whole town.
And with the freed queen injured (same with king dorphan) the gibdo character and Sidon have to fill the roles as their respective leaders till they’re parents recover (but that part is up to you it is your story)
Like I said this was a wait what or how will the totk part play out? So a lot of ideas and prompts formed ^^,
Oooooooooooo I love this prompt! There's a fair amount here that's more or less what I'm planning on doing for ToTK :)
Not gonna say which ones tho so I don't ruin the surprise heehee
That part about Recksin helping out Link and going "hey.....you missed a LOT" is very sweet, too, omg.
Link just can't stop accidentally having the most important things happen while he's injured or on death's door LMAO

Most people seem to be so happy with Tears of the Kingdom, but I’m kind of just,... disappointed? Like there’s something about it, it’s just not as much fun to play as Breath of the Wild was the first time.
Like, the memories? In BotW, the memories were pieces of a story that were meant to be watched out of order, which is helped by the fact that the first one you’re directed towards is the last one in the chronology. In TotK, the memories feel like a whole story arbitrarily broken into pieces. It feels like I was meant to watch them in order.
And the stories in this game just feel so much shallower. The main story, and the side quests. Yes, BotW had generic side quests like, ‘bring me 55 rushrooms,’ and ‘I want 10 luminous stones to repair these pillars,’ but it also had stuff like building an entire new town From the Ground Up, and pretty much every side quest in Kakariko made me feel so much more connected to the people there (which they all forgot about in TotK. All that time spent getting close to the people there, gone.). In TotK, all the side quests feel like generic adventure game side quests. The most impactful one I’ve seen so far is Mattison’s Independence, and it doesn’t hold a candle to the ones in BotW! And it starts with ‘My young daughter is about to leave on a big journey and I won’t see her again for years. I want to spend time with her before she leaves, but I don’t have time, so you do it,’ which made me so upset that I put off actually doing the quest for months! As if that would force Hudson to spend time with her. And don’t get me started on the ‘world-building’ of how young Gerudo are required to return to Gerudo Town and they’re not allowed to leave or see their male relatives and friends until they’re grown up. It rubs me the wrong way so bad.
And the actual world I’m travelling around in. The surface is pretty much the same as it was in BotW, which is mostly fine. There’s enough new stuff scattered around that exploring still feels interesting, and the caves are very nice, usually unique and interesting. But the sky islands are all so small. The sky island you wake up on is so large and varied, I expected there to be more like that. But no, all the others are very small (the mazes don’t count), and don’t even have flora and fauna different from the first one. But at least every cluster of sky islands has something interesting, unlike the depths. The depths are so vast, but so empty and bland. I’d say the most interesting parts of the depths are the Yiga bases and the mines, but even those get samey after a while. The surface has lots of different areas that looks different, and if you showed me a picture, I’d be able to tell where you were. The depths? it all looks exactly the same.
Tears of the Kingdom is fun because it shares its structure with Breath of the Wild, and Breath of the Wild was fun. But Tears of the Kingdom doesn’t add enough to raise it above Breath of the Wild, and it certainly wasn’t worth $70.

[totk] labyrinths
[story spoilers]
ok so maybe ive posted about this before but those labyrinths are still super weird cuz their style is different from all of the other zonai architecture while they have actual zonai like medallion thingies in them!! now the akkala labyrinth was attributed to the ruler of dragons so i was like "ok its probably rauru" but i just finished the north one and its the ruler of owls... now it turns out that all 3 pieces in botw were found in faron so this might not be a lore thing rather just a reference to the triforce... because none of our sages are wisdom, power, or courage unless these structures are even older than the zonai of the sky and depths...
the three in botw were found all in the faron forest (locations), so they were in lake floria area, ebara woods, and sarjon bridge. the falls over lake floria is where the dragon goes through, so that's probably the ruler of dragons part, ebara forest is where the big stone owls are, and the sarjon area is pretty close to where the boar statues are or there might be more there idk (too scared to look). i haven't done the south labyrinth yet because i am too lazy and is it just me or is that whole area still ridiculously empty?? anyways I'm just gonna assume its boars because that's the last figure... there's no way this is related to rauru and co. again because nothing about boars is referenced in any way regarding them aside from ganondorf himself i guess and those statues in the forest but we never see them anywhere else unless I'm missing a cave in gerudo... and courage and wisdrom are referenced with the sky and depths mazes but i don't really remember the surface one being called a trial of power...
though one more thing why not put the dragon sets (minus farosh bc yk) in the mazes?? misko even said they (he??) wanted to protect them and stuff after finding them in another land so why in the mines and not the sky?? like in the sky we have no yiga either (yet). actually another thing regarding this i think parts of the ember set are found near zonai ruins and like a lot of the other treasures are as well, and these stylistically match the labyrinths which are the only structures in the depths that use the faron jungle style... man this bothers me so bad!! what's up with it?? the only reasonable conclusion is either these labyrinths are older than the mines or it was someone else like back to the sheikha thing considering they have similar tech... but that leads to "why?" which i have no answer for right now... will probs write update after south lomei (soon)
