Meiji Komorebi
A 1885 Japanese inspired Dress
I FINALLY Finished! I started this project back in 2020 a few weeks after TS4 Snowy Escape was released. At the moment it looked like a basic 1880's Bustle Dress, no big deal but once i reached the Weight paint mode it was a NIGHTMARE. You see? this dress have a slight Lobster Tail train and everytime i try to fix it it became harder and clippy. Frustrated and somewhat tired due the pandemic i decided to stash the project on the WIP folder and forget about it until a couple of days ago that resurfaced on my WIP's Folders so i revisited the project. Those damn weights didn't stood a chance and finally finished it.
The Dress is inspired on mid 1880's Japanese wear wore by the high class ladies on the Meiji Period Japan. They used to mix Kimono silks and Western patterns to create unique garments while still following the European fashionable dress.

You... You can't just Kidnap a Girl FAGIN! P1
Media The Artful Dodger
Character Jack Dawkins
Couple Jack X Reader (Lady)
Rating Cute
Requested:
Hey, I absolutely love your writing and I have an idea so basically y/n is the governor's daughter and belle's sister and she knows of jack and he's kinda admired her for a while and fagin knows it, but jack is in debt still so fagin kidnaps her or something to get jack the money and yeah that's it and maybe some ~smut~ . anyways I absolutely adore this fic so far and you don't have to do it but I just thought it was a cool idea
Tumblr media
I finished up with the rounds cleaning off my hands as I headed through the ward, my bottom lip between my teeth as Fagin followed me around while I was trying to work. He was panicking and frankly so was I, we had three days to get the rest of Darius' money... and currently we had about four pounds of the twenty-six required.
"I told you no." I snapped down his stupid idea,
"I don't know why you keep ignoring me dodge I have the best ideas..."
"You have terrible ideas, Fagin," I warn,
"Why don't we... sell fake prescriptions?"
"No. I am not letting you get me in trouble."
"Why not... sell the damn mangy hospital cat." He said, "Five bob for the meat two for the skin, and we'll be on our way."
"Hosptial-" I began as I looked around spotting the little black cat on the floor nibbling at some removed fingers, the usual black fur, blue eyes and purple collar, "That is not a mangy street cat." I told him as I carefully went over and picked the cat up she very happily nuzzled into my arms for a cuddle starting to purr, "This is Lady Nightingale, Lady Y/n Fox's cat. This cat outranks the both of us." I warned him as I took the cat to the front office to keep it out of trouble,
"she won't miss it-"
"Fagin." I stopped him, "I cannot. Cannot. be more clear about this. You touch that cat. it is both of our arses. That is the governor's daughter's cat and if so much as a hair on its perfectly brushed head is hurt I will ship you back to London myself," I told him,
"...When did you ever gain such an affection for cats?"
"I don't have an affection for cats. However, this one is a prized possession of someone very powerful and influential so it is in the best interests of our remaining alive if we do not hurt the cat." I told him as I gave the cat a pet and a check over as she tended to get into mischief on her way here,
"Powerful and influential... with... money?" he encouraged,
"Fagin..."
"If we happen to let the governor know his sweet girl's cat has gone... missing then surely a reward could be in order."
"Fagin. We are on no condition kidnapping the governor's daughter's cat and holding it for ransom,"
"But think of the green dodge?"
"No. It is not happening. Not at all. No way. Absolutely not. I want you to swear to me."
"...Fine... I Swear I will not Kidnap the cat and hold it for ransom."
"Or hurt the cat."
"...Or hurt the cat."
"Alright then," I nodded just as I saw the door open, to a familiar sight.
Lady Y/n Fox wandered in, wearing her sweet little black leather boots, stockings, her beautiful lilac purple dress with a lobster tail bustle below it, and her sweet hair pinned up with her little dragonfly hairpin. She rushed in with a look of fear across her face as she often did but she relaxed a little when she saw me and Lady Nightingale,
"Afternoon Y/n," I smiled, doing my best not to blush as I continued to pet her cat,
"Good Afternoon Jack," she smiled, "I'm so sorry..." she said as she came to pet Lady Nightingale,
"It's alright I know she likes to come and keep us company,"
"Umm she likes to come to find you," she laughs, "Every time I open the window nowadays she bolts out to come to find you,"
"Yeah I guess so, but still I'm happy she'd be here with me so you know where she is."
"I suppose so, and I get to come down and see you,"
"Yeah, I do get to see you, both of you." I smiled, "Well it was lovely to see you, Lady Nightingale, of course you are welcome to surgery as always as our best hospital patron, but now it is time to end the honour of your visit and head home with Lady Y/n," I laughed,
"Yes and It was delightful for a visit with you two doctor Dawkins,  I know Lady Nightingale enjoyed it. and I'm sure she'll be back." She laughed as she picked the cat up in her arms, "Thank you for taking care of her Jack,"
"It's no problem really,"
"Thank you, I'm sure I'll see you around Doctor Dawkins," she smiled,
"I look forward to it Milady," I smiled giving her hand a kiss before she headed out with cat in hand,
"Interesting... how you're on first name terms with the goveners daughter." Fagin smirked, "A lady no less..."
"Fagin. Do not. Hurt. Cat."
"I swear on Milife Dodge I won't hurt that cat."
"Alright then..." I nodded, "I need to get back to work," I sighed heading back to the ward,

Slightly unedited Lonely Mer Snippet...
Dream isn’t quite sure when it started but after a while he begins to notice something interesting about Sapnap and George: they use him as cover while they hunt.
Truthfully he’s never watched reef mers hunt before - at least not from close up - and he’s never been directly involved in a reef mer hunt like he is now. His own hunts are fairly simple, really, track down something that smells good and catch it, easy enough. He’s strong and fast and the average sea lion isn’t going to be able to get away in time.
But Sapnap and George don’t hunt sea lions - they’re on the other side of that predator/prey equation and sea lions would be far too large anyhow - they’re more interested in going after small fish or crabs or occasionally lobsters, Dream notes. They have to be craftier then he does - Dream can overpower nearly anything in the sea but Sapnap and George can’t, and reefs are filled with all sorts of cracks and crevices for ocean critters to scramble into.
They’re ambush hunters, and Dream has become perfect cover.
Right now he’s dozing in the sunlight, eyes half lidded and lazy, basking on the side of a cliff. Around him a reef bustles - most creatures were frightened of him at first but as he settled down they’ve come back out, skittering and scampering all over. Closest to him is an anemone filled with clownfish, and Dream watches them curiously. He wonders if George or Sapnap have ever tried to eat a clownfish before… Dream did, once, and ended up half-frying his tongue on the thing.
There’s a brush against his tail and Dream glances down, curious, only to see… Sapnap and George swimming alongside him, one after the other with Sapnap in front and George behind. There’s a plump crab skittering nearby, carefully plucking the side of the rock to eat the green plants growing there, and from the look in their eyes, Dream knows Sap and George are honed in on it.
He thinks for a minute about reaching down and snatching up the crab himself - it would be awfully easy to do, he’s large enough it would neatly fit in his hand, and then Sapnap and George wouldn’t have to hunt - they never really HAVE to if they don’t want to - it’s not difficult for him to merely grab a nearby fish and give it to them.
But Sapnap and George seem to like hunting, so Dream leaves them to it.
Besides, he loves watching them hunt, and how careful and crafty they are with it. Sapnap swims along neatly, ducking under Dream’s fin when the crab looks up, and George is right beside him a minute later. The orange mer’s tail fin seems to have healed nicely - a thin scar still remaining but nonetheless healed.
The crab goes back to munching and George swims out from the cover of Dream’s fins and behind a rock, swimming to the other side of the little stone clearing. The crab doesn’t look up as he does so, and George prowls, careful as he swims past, and Sapnap peeks out from Dream’s fin, eyes fixed on the crab ahead of him.
Dream watches them stalk it for a few more moments, before George explodes out from his hiding spot and startles the crab, causing it to flee forwards. He chases it, herding it slightly and swiping at it with his claws until it damn near runs into Dream’s flank - where Sapnap bursts forwards and pounces on the crab, flipping it neatly and jamming his claws between it’s armor, killing it.
George curls forwards beside him, and the two of them revel in their catch for a moment. Dream chuckles softly at the both of them.
“Do you want some?” Sapnap asks, looking at him in confusion, before frowning slightly. “Wait, why are you laughing?”
“Nothing,” Dream responds with a smile, leaning forwards a bit and resting his head on his forearms. “I was just watching you both hunt is all.”
George and Sapnap still look at him slightly suspiciously before tearing into the crab, ripping it apart. They squabble over one of the legs for a bit before George wins and Sapnap concedes, retreating back to his own crab legs and munching on them grumpily. Dream watches them with a smile, thinking that he should probably go and grab something for himself - probably a shark if this reef is anything to go by - but for now he’s content to rest and watch them eat, knowing that his two best friends are safe and happy is enough for him.

What is the Totoro project?
Some day when I finally get my shit together and have made - a mannequin cover that fits my dimensions - an appropriate corset - all the other underpinnings ... I want to make an 1870s version of a Totoro cosplay. I've got a sketch; it's going to be more on the early 1870s side (circa 1873) so it's got a big bustle and the lobster-tail train! (the train is Totoro's tail!) I even have a plan for the hat -- it'll curve up on both sides like ears and have a little leaf in the middle.
... but I have so, so, so many other projects in advance that this is a long time in the future, so I'm just archiving things for it so I can drape the stuff appropriately.

Ren my friend Ren, HOW do you do a character shape. thank you for your offer please disclose the forbidden magics (no pressure)
ok well mostly i meant the victorian silhouette stuff but i'll do my best to explain my 2 methods regarding that
method 1: design-focused. if you want the impression of a funky little gnc victorian type of beast, my most basic advice would be to pick one silhouette and put unconventional garments on there. like let's say, 1890s womenswear silhouette but it's a three piece suit, which translates to very hourglass-y menswear with maybe some coat tails that go out in a direction. another thing you can do is take details from one gendered outfit and put them on the opposite gendered outfit, like a sharply tailored waistcoat on an otherwise womenswear type of outfit, or flouncy bows on a suit
method 2: character-focused. take your Guy. rotate them in your brain. what understructures would they wear? would they wear a bust bodice under their outfit? what about petticoats, if they're into skirts? if so, how many? are they a corset kinda guy? fashion corset or something more practical and movable? would they forgo it entirely and instead wear a boned waistcoat perhaps? build off what your character's preferences would be.
for example, my character wolfsbane wears a full lobster tail bustle, a corset and a bust bodice in their fancy party outfit, but only a corset in their more adventurous outfit, and they have been known to wear many layers of petticoats and a crinoline hoop skirt on certain occasions. meanwhile, another character of mine, dusk, would NOT enjoy any sort of cage structures under their dresses. they instead make do with two petticoats at the very most, and have never been known to wear a bust bodice simply because they don't want to, despite the fashionable silhouette.
i don't really have a conclusion to this. you can either mix and match or go through your special little guy's victorian morning routine. you can also do neither of those things i can't stop you. but that's the thoughts that i have in my brain

I was out trick-or-treating tonight, and me and my two friends who I was out with came across a woman standing on a corner with a table, some decorations, and, y’know, candy.
While we’re getting candy I complimented her on her costume by telling her she was giving Elvira vibes (my friend had told me before we walked up to her stand that she was giving Elvira vibes, but they were too nervous to tell her so I told her for them), and she replied with something along the lines of “she’s my role model.” But still in character (she was a vampire and mentioned somewhere that she was 400+ years old)
She was wearing a really pretty red dress over one of those lobster tail bustles which looked really cool.
And as soon as me and my friends walk away to continue trick-or-treating I realize I just had a gay panic moment (which doesn’t happen often for me) and I thought it was very funny
I’m super tired writing this, please excuse any spelling and/or grammar errors, and the ranting.
Basically women are awesome, and so are 400+ year old lady vampires in lobster tail bustles and black & red dresses :]
Goodnight, and a happy Halloween to all
