For the fic meme thing maybe some angst like Lilia protecting an injured silver maybe?
[✐meme] three sentence fic meme
As a soldier, there are certain limits to compassion on the battlefield. A moment's pause of sympathy could mean the difference between survival and a falchion in the throat, the choice to defend a companion gravely wounded bearing the cost of two lives instead of only one. Lilia has grieved this lesson in the blood of the dearest friends unsalvageable, forged it in the hardness of his battle-weary furnace heart; in wartime, duty can be all that matters.
( "Nothing else but Malleus' safety can be of importance when you're protecting the prince. Should anyone other than him be harmed, even yourself, you are to never waver in your duties— that is what it means to be his knight. Do you understand, Silver?" )
He has spent over five hundred years upholding the rules of war; one does not become Briar Valley's most celebrated General in acts of kindness and salvation. He has allowed the deaths of countless fellow fae standing by his side because he knew he could not save them, no matter how they may have screamed and pleaded otherwise. He is not some fledgling thrown into a world he does not understand, he knows how the game is played, the sacrifices that must be made.
So how is it, that as his son, his one and only darling, dearest son, crumples to the ground from a vicious strike of blinding viridescent lightning, Lilia finds his body and mind acting as one despite centuries of discipline to propel his limbs forward with a fear the likes of which he's never known?
Malleus still rages blindly before them, the shouts and desperate commands of those who had foolishly come to help echoing dimly above his head, but Lilia's awareness has been reduced to a wide expanse of Silver's torso that's been horrifically burnt away by the lightning bolt, the colors of his skin wrong and flesh mangled with melted uniform as an ugly stench begins to build in the air between them. And the boy, the blessed sweet child, is trying to fight against what must be a howling pain to fulfill his wretched father's ridiculous guidance, teeth clenched to stifle whimpers that pierce Lilia through the gut as if each one had been specifically designed to maim him in the worst way possible.
Lilia has never once turned his back in battle, but he falls over his son now, heedless of the streaks of colored lights crisscrossing the sky as spells are cast uselessly against the thick hide of dragon scales. His boy, his child, is lying injured in his arms, and Lilia has not one drop of magic to heal him.
"F—Father, you have to— Malleus-sama—"
"I'm afraid I will have to beg the prince's forgiveness, but to lose two family members in one day is simply something I cannot allow!"
It's only fitting then that he becomes Silver's shield while Kalim takes one look at the expression on his face and shouts desperately for help, altering the course of their battle as he's forced their friends to choose between the saving of their own. Only fitting that for Silver, for his chosen human child, he throws away the most callous of rules that had allowed him victory over the boy's kin.
Lilia's always known he'd go to war for this child; now, he supposes he'd stop one for him too.

I just started learning Thai so I’m interested. What is the difference between jing and jingjing? On your tags about favorite Thai words
oh! so in Thai, repeating an adjective turns it into an adverb.
in this case, jing is an adjective that means true or real or honest, and jingjing is an adverb that means really, trully, honestly. they're just my favourite Thai words because I like the way they sound lol.
my other favourite is ning, which doesn't have a perfect English translation but that you might recognise from My Engineer. it means cool as in (a person who is) cold, distant, or aloof, or alternatively calm and self-controlled. it's often used sarcastically when describing other people. ningning is an adverb that means something like carefully or calmly - you hear people saying "ningning!" to tell someone to calm down or take more care. kind of like "chill out!" in English lol. I like these because their English translations are so interesting! and because of RamKing and ai'Ning, obviously.

i need smth other than duolingo to make me do spanish exercises daily TBH because 1. i know way more than this i just haven’t gotten very far because the ads piss me off insanely 2. if i’m immediately punished for getting something wrong with an explanation being paywalled and an encouragement on being fast i’m not going to learn very well from my mistakes. duolingo is honestly super annoying it’s just nice on account of being accessible esp. from my phone

seeing you for the first time
The night is silent, save for the hum of a heater in the corner of the room. Kyouko's feet glide across the floor, leading her to the living room. The house, though unfamiliar, yields to her desire to keep her presence hidden, floorboards refusing to creak regardless of where each footfall lands.
On the couch, she sees her. The sharp-eyed false fashionista, one Enoshima Junko that in actuality was Ikusaba Mukuro. The disguise could no longer conceal that knowledge from Kyouko now that the box had been opened, yet it remained as proof of the other girl's fear of rejection if she were to discard the persona she'd built up in the past month.
Mukuro doesn't notice her, not yet. Though usually alert and on guard, tonight the weight of recent events was evident on her face. Kyouko found herself curious, idly flipping through the various expressions she'd seen on Mukuro's face in her mind, each one more unique than the last. During the Killing Game, her face had always been tight with false cheer, false frustration, false sorrow. Yet, as each minute passed and they drew farther and farther from the school that had been their prison, her emotions had become more genuine, hadn't they.
There are still too many questions. Those very questions were what pulled her from her bed, mind spinning with thoughts. Somehow, she both believed and doubted that if she asked Mukuro for answers, she would receive them. The conflicting beliefs battle, keeping her in the shadows as she watches Mukuro shift uneasily. She wonders if she can feel the weight of her gaze, if those soldier instincts regard her thirst for knowledge as a threat.
It's not often that Kyouko finds herself so indecisive. Yet, she can't seem to pinpoint how to feel about Mukuro. It was a fact that she was an ally. It was a fact that she was originally on the side of the mastermind. It was a fact that she had slit the throat of the face she now wore to dress herself up as a sheep when she truly was a wolf underneath the wig, fake nails, and makeup. It was a fact that she'd wept with shock and grief and had tried to run away from her crime.
A crime of passion can be a terrifying thing. Unpredictable, emotional, raw, impulsive destruction that can't be taken back. But it wasn't exclusive to Mukuro; the Killing Game had brought out the worst in them all. Though it was murder regardless, her killing of the mastermind at least freed them from the game, even if it came after half of them had already perished.
No, it's too soon to pass judgment. Besides, it's not as if that was Kyouko's role to play; she is a detective, first and foremost. She deals in facts, and the fact was that there were layers to this story that ran deeper than any of them had yet to understand. Whether Mukuro turned out to be friend or foe, well, she would keep her close. Warily, and at arm's length from her heart and her back, but close nonetheless.

3 for the ask meme!
questions for fic writers
3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
Ok so I had to crowdsource an answer for this one because I know nothing about myself or my writing, I just slap words on a page and hope for the best. Apparently, my characteristic tropes and details include 'natural, easygoing dialogue, vivid description, good use of especially metaphor and similes but also of literary devices in general', which is great news for me, because I don't know what literary devices I use :)
(My actually personal answer is that I think my writing feels round. Hope this helps 👍)

figured out what was bugging me about someone saying they were skeptical of the queer theory term homonormativity bc it felt to them like it was saying if something is "homonormative" then its the wrong way to be queer, and that they felt "there is no wrong way to be queer"
its thats in my understanding, the critique implicit to calling something homonormative IS about saying there's no wrong way to be queer! bc homonormativity has a very strict idea about the right way to be gay: the right way to be gay is to be as similar to heterosexuality and its structures as possible
pointing out homonormativity, to me, is about saying we do not have to assimilate into the institutions of hegemonic cisheterosexuality. ie: dont fall into the trap of thinking there is a right way to be queer

mutual gets into something I don’t know anything about and I see a word associated with it too many times without bothering to look into it so it just makes me irrationally angry and I mute the tag incident: nobody dead or injured but what kind of loser does that I should at least try to understand my friends’ interests before I decide those interests annoy me
oops I put 70% of the post in the tags
