It was in A Breath of Snow and Ashes (chapter 98, "To Keep A Ghost At Bay"), but in a slightly different context.

It takes place in an inn in Wilmington, shortly after Tom sacrifices himself for Claire - and before Roger and Brianna and the children go back.

Claire similarly initiates intimacy with Jamie - and similarly pulls away. She is so torn, feels so guilty, for Tom's sacrifice to save her.

“Who is it that ye see, Claire?” he whispered. “Can ye tell me?”

“Frank,” I said, fast, before I could change my mind. “And Tom. And—and Malva.” My chest heaved, and I felt that I would never have air enough to breathe again.

“I could—all of a sudden, I could feel them all,” I blurted. “Touching me. Wanting to come in.” I rolled over, burying my face in the pillow, as though I could seal out everything.

Also keep in mind that this is still not too long after Claire's abduction and trauma at the hands of the Browns...so she's still processing that, too.

The scene plays out differently in that Jamie comforts Claire, helps soothe her and calm her down. Helps her mind find peace.

“Let them come, and grieve them, Claire,” he whispered. “And when they’ve gone, I’ll take ye home.”

I do have to say that I much prefer how this conversation played out in 07x02. For one thing, it takes place at Jamie and Claire's home - in their bedroom, their most intimate space. Claire is processing Tom's sacrifice, of course - but more importantly, coming to terms with the loss of her daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren.

Which gives Jamie the space to open up to her - having just seen William for the first time in many years - and share his own grief at losing the MacKenzie family, and so many others in his life.

He mentions Faith - which always makes my heart shatter.

He helps shoulder her grief by sharing his own grief. He honors Claire's vulnerability by trusting her with his own vulnerability. And he gives her the comfort that nobody else can.

I love A Breath of Snow and Ashes - but the series' interpretation is so much more powerful. Much more true to who these two people are, and their shared sorrows and joys.

(in summary: my oc, rin, and alain, have lived in my head rent free for 3 years now. they mean the world to me. i love them. to me, they are THE it couple <3)

rin yukino is a hyper competitive trainer with a (shiny) mega gardevoir, goal focused and independent to the point of flaw. born and raised in kalos, but with family from sinnoh, she had spent much of her childhood fitting into her parent's mold for a perfect daughter. she was a straight-a student, principal violinist, preparing to attend a top university - at 18, she realized that wasn't who she wanted to be anymore. she became a pokemon trainer instead.

(somewhat unimportantly, her usual trainer design consists of teal highlights in her hair, orange earrings shaped like the heart that goes through a mega gardevoir's chest, and a lot of black and gray. she matches diva, her gardevoir, like alain matches his charizard. they're both extra like that.)

she meets alain viard when they're both 22, shortly after the events of TSME act 4. she's on the gym challenge, and he's... alain. they battle, and he wins. twice in a row. then they go from rivals to rivals with benefits, then maybe even friends if they weren't both so emotionally reclusive i mean haha what-

alarin, aka rin "i'm stronger on my own" yukino and alain "i only destroy those around me" viard

even if he's won both times, alain can't help but be attracted one of the few people who can keep up with him, who cares about winning nearly as much as he does, who treats pokemon battling like it's all she has. he knows the feeling. he thinks she might understand him.

she's half of the reason behind both his decision to fill out his team beyond charizard and his decision to challenge the gyms

when they fall apart, just a month before the team flare crisis, i like to think of them like a supernova. short lived but bright and brilliant. doomed from the start.

the details of their falling out are complicated, so we'd be here all day if i tried to explain.

rin fails to stand by him during the fight against lysandre. she doesn't have the courage to. but she does, however, find him in the aftermath. she helps him heal and pick up the broken pieces. that's where 99% of their relationship really comes from.

i filter them into the category titled "couples written by taylor swift's the great war" and if you know you know

because it's important to me, rin gets along great with mairin.

at first she's a bit annoyed by her over-enthusiasm. rin is cold, blunt, realistic, and introverted, mairin is the opposite of all of those things. but once she sees how much mairin means to alain she does a full 180

and mairin's only ever had older brothers (both in her biological family and in alain), so having rin around to show her how to do her hair, her makeup, AND annoy the hell out of alain when appropriate is her favorite thing ever.

they are very good at bullying alain into taking care of himself (because he is very bad at that, as we all know.)

eventually, rin will go on to become one of the kalos elite four, after malva gets arrested (for being Very Fucking Evil).

one of my favorite things ever to think about is how the random internet people would claim "rin is only with alain to try and get famous" (and also make lengthy twitter/x callout threads on how alain is a problematic person because of his team flare involvement, and therefore decently-well-known league challenger rin yukino is also problematic by proxy), only for alain to generally avoid the public spotlight (there are lots of headcanons here. in short, he goes to university) and rin to be hired as elite four. and then she becomes far more famous as a result. and then the internet trolls are like "...oh." and a majority of the general population doesn't even know she and alain are a thing, because it's only obvious if you scrolled intensely through her instagram account.

i don't know why alarin getting stupid hate threads on twitter/x is the funniest thing to me but it really, really is!!

the internet is convinced alarin is a manipulative ploy on rin's end and one day she reads one of the twitter threads making all these claims about what she's done and she just goes "bitch i did what" and finds it absolutely hilarious

okay solis has more whitwo thoughts than i do i am very much in the like. im a fan of kanjoh spe especially blue, green oak, silver, and red but whitwo. I just...bw2 as a whole got done dirty narratively i think and it makes it so hard to read for me compared to the older arcs? i LOVE the basis of whitwo’s character i find her fascinating we love a girlfail esp after 5 generations of extremely competent characters. i love her! i just wish she had more of a chance to shine and that the writing actually like...explored her more, bc she ends up back where she started in a way? except she found n, so. there's that. also she got malva's delphox and thats one of the most recent mentions of a previous generation in spe lately?????

Actually I see it in the color of the sky first, it changes when the season does, and so does the taste of the air!

Comfort - who is your go to comfort character?

My fiance has several OCs that are different manifestations for his love for me, that get paired with the Personas’ ocs. He has several to choose from for both Bunny and Dosy in particular, so you’ll often see multishippy stuff

Mine from his is Wolfgang, hes an older gentleman who tutors Prince Haze, and probably the one genuine guy in the whole fictional land of Herz. Hes very sweet and shy and careful with princess Rose. Like the perfect opposite to everything thats happened to her. Its a nice slow burn relationship and allll the Flower parts can use Rose to be close to him so thats nice :> in all the RPs they dont show up, its usually offhandedly mentioned that they’re at least happy together or married and traveling all over the universe together.

Theres also Mal too but hes not a character! Chime uses Malva to be close in-character. Hes a knight in the fantasy au and a shadow in the main au I think. Hes very protective and gentle with all the Roses too!!!! So a very similar situation as with Wolfgang, just not romantic. U should ask chime about him, i love him very much!!

LONNGGGG...i love short things but UHHH yeah i have a habit of taking small things and replying with a million paragraphs <3 that being said, i love short things and little one off fun time crack stuff. sometimes the best interactions come from replies that are short! best time to write: if i knew i’d be a god damn millionaire- jisoafjiosf no but i write at pretty much all times of the day. i Do Not Sleep consistently and thus i can be on all the time. at the moment though, i’m doing a lot of writing at the earliest time possible. i.e., i’m writing this at almost 8 am and i woke up at like 4 or 5 am :) so i could really be awake all the time. perhaps i’m never even asleep- are you like your muse(s): uUHHH IT DEPENDS ON THE MUSE! I write a lot of different characters, ranging from ones that are a lot like me, and others that are not like me at all. silva i like writing because she’s incredibly positive and we do share a few things...but ultimately writing her i have to completely turn off my brain. i write a lot of characters that are less like me and more like people i’ve known! there are, of course, characters i write that are like me, but it’s really loose and more abstract.

Joyeuse has a fearsome reputation among the Kalosian media. Not so much from the story of how she nearly single-handedly crushed the Elite Four and wiped out the Champion’s team on her own, but because of her fierce protectiveness over Serena, which extends to being her wall when cameras and microphones come out. They know how to goad people and prod at them to get them to say something they can spin out of context, and they know how to wear away at people. However, they don’t really know what to do about an eight foot tall sword that acts as a bodyguard. Not only that, Joyeuse keeps her steel immaculately polished, so any camera flashes reflect very nastily off of her shield and blade, making any pictures taken unsalvageable due to the brightness.

She never makes any move to switch to her Blade Form or to attack at all, knowing full well they can spin it in their favor and call her ‘violent’, and put her trainer in a very bad light. She stands steadfast in her Shield Form, arms folded behind her blade silently. She knows they want her to react in some way, but she never gives them that satisfaction. In the end, she just makes them waste their time, and the precious space they have on their cameras as they take 500 very bright photos.

so because of the difference in life expectancy, what happens when Kajo and Cicero get..older? U know..since she'll live longer and all that. Just wondering if you had thoughts on it <3

I have unfortunately had these thoughts and they are Painful.

Kajo doesn't really think about it beforehand and for some reason to her Cicero felt like an invincible being, refusing to die, but then his time to join the Void comes and Kajo doesn't know how to handle it. She is upset and heartbroken, he was her life partner and now she has to continue living without him? Feels absolutely terrible and she is mourning for a long while.

But she never becomes bitter towards life or anything, learning to accept that it is what it is, life happens. She knows he is safe in the Void, waiting for her at Sithis' side, and that is comforting. Lights candles to his memory every night, praying for the Night Mother to make sure that Cicero doesn't do anything stupid in the Void (pfft).

Someone once asked would Kajo try to summon him from the Void, turning him into a spectral assassin. Nope, because then it would hurt like hell again. Like, he would be there, but not really.

This is also a good moment to babble about this story I have, but I'm gonna put that under a read more, because it might get long!

So yeah. The story is yet another probably lore breaking mess, but anyway... I'm veeeery slooooowly working on a story about Kajo's final Big Adventure, set like 30 years after Cicero's passing.

Many decades ago, Kajo helped Sheogorath to return to Shivering Isles, freeing the Hero of Kvatch, Malva Sillonan, from her position as a "substitute" Mad God. Malva returns to Nirn, confused, and soon begins her search for her missing wife, Nerevarine Urtielle, who she knows is still alive somewhere. But her journey bares no fruit; despite retaining demiprince-like powers and naturally being talented with magic, she hasn't been able to locate Urtielle.

Jump back to whatever year it is, Malva approaching Kajo, as she finally decides to ask for some help from a fellow destined person. Perhaps a dragonborn could be able to help her somehow? Who knows, but Malva has tried everything and pretty much has nothing to lose.

Kajo is a bit reluctant to join this strange altmer, but then thinks like "okay, what the hell, maybe one more time" and agrees to help her to find her lost wife.

Stuff happens, Malva discovers that time travel is the key to find something that will help them to track Urtielle. So time travelling happens! And much to Kajo's (perhaps bad) luck, the location they are headed to is Cheydinhal back when Cicero ages ago moved there from Bruma.

And much to Kajo's (still maybe bad) luck again, they ofc bump into this young assassin. (An old doodle.)

Malva tells Kajo not to interact with this Cicero, as it could cause trouble, but haha, turns out that he finds the thing they are looking for and they have to work with him to get the thing (don't ask what the thing is, I don't know yet).

Kajo tries her damnest to not mention anything about the future to him, it's super difficult... but it's also so nice to see him, even tho he really isn't the Cicero she knew.

When Malva and Kajo have to leave this time, Malva must wipe Cicero's memories of their visit (or more like make it seem like it was all a dream). Before she can do that, Kajo talks to Cicero one last time, saying something vague about the future (like "everything will be fine in the end", knowing what he is about to go through in the following years) and gifts him an ebony dagger (yes, the ebony dagger. It kind of travels in a loop now lmao).

Malva and Kajo go back to their time, more stuff happens, they find Urtielle, but one of them must make an sacrifice to get her back.

And Kajo agrees to sacrifice her life to reunite Malva and Urtielle. She has seen enough life, enough adventures, most of her friends have passed already, and she is ready to join the Void and be reunited with her love, too.

This week we did a bit of driving and for the first time since I returned to work, I went for a run. It felt great and was much needed. I’ve put on three kilos since returning to work (or maybe just in the last two weeks on holiday). Stephan made reservations at Die Lunte, in Schloss Lüntenbeck, a delicious restaurant in Wuppertal.

The food and wine were delicious. I treated myself to veil. This was the sharing starter...

Tuesday we headed to Aachen where we enjoyed a nice walk around the city and brunch. I loved all the bakery windows that promoted gingerbread specifically to give to the person who watered the plants for you during your holiday.

Stephan introduced me to portonicos and I was immediately hooked. We enjoyed one most evenings.

Wednesday we were back in Wuppertal for the day and on the way back to Köln, we stopped at Vinhoteca Centro Café, a Portuguese bakery, in the middle of nowhere, except adjacent to a power station. It was a bit surreal; however, the baked goods were amazing.

Thursday evening we headed into Köln to 485º a delicious pizza restaurant.

Friday I made my way from Köln to Berlin. I’m staying with François and Stefano in Kreuzberg. Saturday afternoon I headed to Julia and Jen’s house, which is adjacent to the Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer (Berlin Wall Memorial), commemorating the division of Berlin by the Berlin Wall and the deaths that occurred there.

Julia prepared a delicious lunch of individual quiches and a large green salad. Then we took bicycles to the S-Bahn and made our way to Wannsee station. From there we cycled to Onkel Toms Hütte on Onkel Toms Straße.

Sunday I visited the botanic garden in the afternoon.

Tuesday, I took the U-Bahn to Checkpoint Charlie, up to Unter den Linden, for my plant of the week, to Brandenburg Gate, through the Tiergarten and then walked across Berlin, following the canal, to François’s house and dinner.
