Henry ‘Chips’ Channon: The Diaries (Vol. 1), 1918-38, entry for 19th January 1923
Friday 19th January
A ball this evening in the great barons’ hall to which all of the county came including large parties from Petworth¹ and Albury² …. At four I went to bed and was lulled to sleep by the noise of the jazz and the dancing. We were over seventy at dinner and assembled in the dull Gothic library-gallery and processed in state into the dining room. The castle itself is quite bare of interesting furniture and tapestry and only a few mediocre pictures. I am almost the only ‘prot’³ and little bells tinkle continuously to call the faithful to Mass. I feel an outrageous heretic, even the servants disapprove of one. Our ‘Premier Duke’ is a nice lad of 14 called ‘Bernard’.⁴ He is shy but will form well. I find the mother more interesting than the daughter.
Achille Murat⁵ is engaged to be married to Mlle Chasseloup-Laubat.⁶ It sounds très noblesse de province⁷ but I may be wrong. What a gentle charmer Achille used to be. He would come to me always from the train when he arrived on permission … back in those happy 1918 days … when dirty, simple, young and unformed, he was a perfect companion for two or three days. We would go to plays and go dancing together and sometimes take his mother the Princesse Marie⁸ to dine with us. He had a deep sense of humour and yet was completely unselfconscious, almost as much as Ivo Grenfell.⁹ He was liked in his regiment and at last promoted to the dignity of maréchal du logis.¹⁰ It makes me sad this flight of time, and I realise so poignantly in flashes sometimes how much I have thrown away in abandoning my French life. Had I never known England and its rarer, richer charm of life I should have been happy there ….
1.  Petworth House in Sussex, seat of Lord Leconfield.
2.  Albury Park in Surrey, a property of the Duke of Northumberland.
3.  Protestant. The Howards of Arundel were, and still are, one of the leading Roman Catholic families in England.
4.  Bernard Marmaduke Fitzalan-Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk (1908–75), Premier Duke in the peerage of England and Hereditary Earl Marshal; he succeeded his father when he was only 9. He arranged the 1937 and 1953 coronations, and the state funeral of Sir Winston Churchill.
5.  Achille Alain Joachim Napoleon Murat (1898–1987), nephew by marriage of Princesse Eugène Murat, who had befriended Channon in Paris.
6.  Madeleine Marie Louise Chasseloup-Laubat (1901–45).
7.  ‘Very provincial nobility’, in other words not quite faubourg.
8.  Marie de Rohan-Chabot (1876–1951), wife of Lucien Murat (1870–1933).
9.  Ivo George Grenfell (1898–1926), son of the 1st Baron Desborough; killed in a car crash. His two brothers Julian (1888–1915) and Gerald (1890–1915) were killed in the Great War. In a letter of November 1920 to his father Channon describes Grenfell as ‘my best friend in Oxford … he is as big as a great Greek god and looks like a Viking’.
10.  A sergeant.

The napoleonic marshal‘s children
After seeing @josefavomjaaga’s and @northernmariette’s marshal calendar, I wanted to do a similar thing for all the marshal’s children! So I did! I hope you like it. c: I listed them in more or less chronological order but categorised them in years (especially because we don‘t know all their birthdays). At the end of this post you are going to find remarks about some of the marshals because not every child is listed! ^^“ To the question about the sources: I mostly googled it and searched their dates in Wikipedia, ahaha. Nevertheless, I also found this website. However, I would be careful with it. We are talking about history and different sources can have different dates. I am always open for corrections. Just correct me in the comments if you find or know a trustful source which would show that one or some of the dates are incorrect. At the end of the day it is harmless fun and research. :) Pre 1790

Sophie Jourdan (died in 1820)
Additional remarks: - Marshal Berthier died 8.5 months before his last daughter‘s birth. - Marshal Oudinot had 11 children and the age difference between his first and last child is around 32 years. - The age difference between marshal Grouchy‘s first and last child is around 43 years. - Marshal Lefebvre had fourteen children (12 sons, 2 daughters) but I couldn‘t find anything kind of reliable about them so they are not listed above. I am aware that two sons of him were listed in the link above. Nevertheless, I was uncertain to name them in my list because I thought that his last living son died in the Russian campaign while the website writes about the possibility of another son dying in 1817. - Marshal Augerau had no children. - Marshal Brune had apparently adopted two daughters whose names are unknown. - Marshal Pérignon: I couldn‘t find anything about his daughters, Justine, Elisabeth and Adèle, except that they died in infancy. - Marshal Sérurier had no biological children but adopted Marguerite-Félécité Desprez in 1814. - Marshal Marmont had no children. - I found out that marshal Saint-Cyr married his first cousin, lol. - I didn‘t find anything about marshal Poniatowski having children. Apparently, he wasn‘t married either (thank you, @northernmariette for the correction of this fact! c:)

#notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article

Hello, since some time already I've been trying to find more information about Ahmed's concubine Mahfiruz Hatun and I couldn't help, but wonder when or how she died. Somewhere I read she died during Ahmed's reign probably by sickness or in childbed and on another page I read the opposite and that she lived until her son became sultan. Also another confusing topic about her for me is who of Ahmed's children she is the mother of. Why are there so less informations about her?
I'll start off by answering your last question: there is so little information about her because she was overshadowed by Kösem, who was haseki sultan. If you look at other valide sultans who had not been haseki sultans, you see that about both Handan and Halime there is little information (in their case, they had been overshadowed by Safiye).
I have talked about her so many times so far but I have decided to put everything I was able to find in this answer so as to dispel any other questions. This is going to be long but I hope clear enough.
About Mahfiruze's fate, there are different schools of thought:
Peirce says that she was probably beaten and exiled for speaking against or offending Kösem, therefore she was alive when Osman II took the throne but for some reason was not called back to Topkapi to be valide sultan, and died in 1620.
Uluçay, Sakaoğlu and Öztuna say that she was alive when Osman II took the throne and that she was valide sultan for two years
Baki Tezcan says she died in 1610 at last (I believe a couple of years later, as I'll explain shortly)
Her name
Baki Tezcan says that her name "was probably Mahfiruz": "Although one comes across this name in quite a number of modern sources, its earliest appearance, as far as I have been able to determine, is in the chronicle of Nai'ma, who was not a contemporary" (The debut of Kösem Sultan's political career)
Öztuna calls her "Hadîce Mâh-Fîrûz(e)" and Sakaoğlu says she was variously called "Mahirûze, Hatice Mahfirûze, Mahfirûze, Mahfirûz, Mah-ı Feyrûz". Ahmed Refik refers to her as "Hadice Mahfiruz" but, as Tezcan says, "his source is not clear".
Her origins
Frequently it is said that Mahfiruz was Greek and that she taught Osman Greek. Tezcan has been able to determine that the source of this claim is not a work of historiography but a novel: Histoire d'Osman premier du nom, XIXe empereur des turcs, et de l'impératrice Aphendina Ashada by Madeleine-Angélique de Gomez published in 1743. Apparently it wasn't the only novel she wrote about the Ottomans or the Safavids.
Therefore even her origins are disputed and unsure. She may have been Greek nonetheless but Madeleine-Angélique de Gomez's novel cannot be use as the basis of this claim.
Her children
Osman II is clearly the only child we're absolutely sure was hers.
Öztuna lists other children: Şehzade Bâyezîd, Şehzade Süleymân, and Şehzade Hüseyn. Those who include Mehmed too in the list of her children nonchalantly forget that Osman was born in November 1604 and Mehmed in March 1605. Therefore Mehmed cannot be her son (it's Kösem's but people just won't accept it).
Cristoforo Valier said - between 1612 and 1615 - that Ahmed I had four sons: two with the sultana alive and two with the sultana who had died. Valier died on 15 July 1615 while returning to Venice so he had left Istanbul a little earlier, I assume. He doesn't say how long has Osman II's mother been dead though.
Tezcan thinks that Gevherhan Sultan was Osman's full-blooded sister because he bases his claims off Pietro della Valle, who says:
// "The day after Nasuh's death, Mehmed Pasha was appointed to the office of Grand Vizier, he too the Gran Signore's son-in-law, that is the husband of his eldest daughter, who is the eldest prince's full sister..."
The Grand Vizier della Valle is talking about is Öküz Mehmed Paşa, the husband of Gevherhan Sultan. This bit is the reason why Börekçi too says that Gevherhan was the eldest of Ahmed's daughters.
Curiously, Pietro della Valle's is the oldest work that mentions Kösem by name. For this reason, I guess, he is held in high consideration by both Tezcan and Börekçi.
About the other princes, it may be that Süleymân or Bayezid as well were Osman's brothers. Süleymân was, in my opinion, not Murad IV's full brother because he's the first - with Bayezid - that he executes. That he first executed Bayezid (and Süleymân) means that he considered them the most dangerous. Why? Because they weren't his mother's sons and they could have been turned against him.
Bayezid is believed by Finkel to have been Osman's brother:
In a departure from recent practice, Murad had waited until he was home from his various campaigns before despatching his brothers: Bayezid and Süleyman – half-brothers to Murad and full brothers to Osman II – had met their end at the time of the celebrations marking the Yerevan campaign of 1635 [...] As Osman’s full brother Bayezid could be considered the rightful heir in Murad’s place. — Osman's Dream: The History of the Ottoman Empire
Let's leave aside the claim that Bayezid could have been considered Osman's heir because as we all know, and as I am sure Finkel knows too, it is not Mahfiruze's blood that dictates the succession but Ahmed I's. Aside from that, I agree with her. We can't be sure that Süleymân and Bayezid were Osman's brothers (I think Bayezid has more chances to be), but Süleymân was definitely - in my opinion - Murad's half-brother.
The only problem with this is that Süleymân was born in 1615 (according to Öztuna), late in Ahmed's reign and too late according to the European ambassador's claims that Osman's mother had died around 1610 (maybe 1612 at the latest).
Which brings us to our next point in Mahfiruze's life:
Her death
As I have said, European ambassadors were certain that Ahmed had as consorts "the living sultana and the sultana who died".
the English ambassador George Sandys, who wrote presumably in 1610, or around this time, said about this:
"this also hath married his concubine, the mother of his yonger sonne, (she being dead by whom he had the eldest) who with all the practices of a politicke stepdame endevours to settle the succession on her owne...”
This bit not only would confirm that Ahmed has married Kösem at some point in his reign but that Mahfiruze died pretty early in his reign.
Cristoforo Valier, between 1612 and 1615 (when he died), said that Ahmed had four sons: "two from the sultana who died and two from the one alive"
Pietro della Valle too said that Osman's mother had died when he wrote about Osman II's accession to the throne:
// "Osman, Sultan Ahmed's firstborn son, but not son of the living sultana Kösem"
The French ambassador, Achille de Harlay, writing on Osman II's accession, said the same thing:
"non le fils de la sultane vivante mais l'ainé nommé Osman, orfelin de sa mère des il y a dix ans" // "not the son of the living sultana but the eldest named Osman, who has been motherless for ten years"
De Harlay had reported that Osman's mother was dead even earlier:
That Osman’s mother is dead is also stated in a relation on the life and death of Nasuh Pasha (d. 1614), written sometime after Nasuh’s execution in 1614 and sent by the same ambassador on March 5, 1616 — Searching for Osman
Then we have the second school of thought: Mahfiruze was in fact alive when Osman became sultan and died in 1620. This is usually said by Turkish historians (is it because they don't check Italian sources? Who knows but I wouldn't blame them tbh, there is literally nothing in common between Turkish and Italian):
Öztuna claims that Mahfiruze was valide sultan for two years, when she died on 26 October 1620. As he doesn't source his claims, we can only speculate who his sources are, but it's probably Uluçay who says the same thing:
"But these happy days did not last long. She died in the third year of her son's reign in 1620, and was buried in Eyüp Sultan Mosque"
Even a very recent work of historiography like Aylin Görgün-Baran's essay titled "A Woman Leader in Ottoman History: Kösem Sultan (1589-1651)" reiterates the same thing:
"By the way, the reign of Osman II had caused Kösem Sultan to take action and she had developed strategies to get on with Mahfiruz Sultan and Osman II and established relationships with them for her son Murat IV. She had sent gifts both to Mahfiruz Sultan and Osman II and given messages to them that she had taken their side."
Apart from the fact that I don't believe that Kösem was working to put Murad on the throne (how was she supposed to know that Osman II would be childless and deposed and killed? Please), this claim is not sourced.
She also said that Mahfiruz had died in 1621, in the same year in which Osman had executed Mehmed.
Back to Uluçay, he bases his claims on the chronogram on Mahfiruz's grave but, as Tezcan argues, that chronogram only means that the grave was built in 1618, not that she had died in that year.
The document that M. Cağatay Uluçay, Padişahların Kadınları ve Kızları, Ankara, Türk Tarihi Kurumu, 1980, p. 48, n. 1, cites as evidence for the date of her death specifies her burial place but does not seem to suggest that she died in the year that the document is dated. Peirce states that the document cited by Uluçay is "not to be found in the Topkapi Palace Museum Archives under the number he cites" — The debut of Kösem Sultan's political career
That Osman built a grave for his mother right after he became sultan may mean that he wanted to honour her with a better mausoleum. Also, who builds a grave for someone who is not dead yet and is also fairly young? I mean if Kösem was in her late twenties when Ahmed I died, Mahfiruze must have been around the same age.
Finally, we have Peirce's theory: Mahfiruze was alive but had been exiled during Ahmed I's reign and, for some reason, her son did not call her back to Topkapi when he became sultan.
Osman's mother, Mahfiruz, was alive when her son was finally enthroned in 1618 after the deposition of the incompetent Mustafa. However, contrary to the assumptions of modern accounts, she did not live in the imperial palace during Osman's reign nor did she act as valide sultan (privy purse registers from Osman's reign list no valide sultan). Mahfiruz died in 1620, two years after her son's accession, and was buried in the large sanctuary of Eyüb. From the middle of 1620, Osman's governess, the daye khatun, began to receive an extraordinarily large stipend (one thousand aspers a day rather than her usual two hundred aspers), an indication that she was now the official stand-in for the valide sultan. What seems likely is that Mahfiruz fell into disfavor, was banished from the palace at some point before Osman's accession, and never recovered her status as a royal concubine. Banishment in disgrace would explain both Mahfiruz's absence from the palace and her burial in the popular shrine of Eyüb rather than in her husband's tomb. The Venetian ambassador Contarini reported in 1612 that the sultan had had a beating administered to a woman who had irritated Kösem; perhaps this woman was Mahfiruz. Mahfiruz's banishment would have removed a serious obstacle to Kösem's efforts to save Mustafa from execution, since the party of Osman had the greatest stake in the survival of the traditional system of succession. — The Imperial Harem: Women and Sovereignty in the Ottoman Empire
Honestly, I don't understand why she seems to think that Mahfiruze was alive - like Uluçay says - but then doesn't agree with his sources... strange.
So this is what we know about Mahfiruze. I have left out claims that she was related to Halime (?) or that the manager of the harem was her sister (?) or that she was related to Mahidevran as well (?) because I could not even find these things in books. I'm pretty sure it's someone's fantasy just going around the internet and for some reason people believed it.
I hope I did not forget anything!!

The Murder of Madeline McCann
Welcome back my off the wall readers! —
How is everyone doing this week? Is everyone ready for July 4th? I know I am. I’m going to the beach which I haven’t been on a beach vacation in, I can’t even tell y’all how long.
The story I’m going to be covering today is one cover my one of my other favorite podcast shows called Crime Junkies with host Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat. The first time I listen to Ashley and Brit tell the story of the young Madeline I was not prepared. Some of you might actually be familiar with this story, let’s dive into this true crime mystery.
May of 2007 a family of 5 was vacationing at a beach side resort in Portugal, when 3-year-old Madeline McCann went missing. Parents, Gerry and Kate McCann had been out to eat with seven other adults at a restaurant in the resort the night their daughter was abducted. In the events leading up to the time Gerry and Kate noticed Madeline was missing , they would take turns going back to the apartment to check on the children. Leaving the patio door unlock, the parents would pop back inside to check to make sure none of the children were crying or awake. The final time Kate went to check on the children she noticed the bedroom door was widely ajar unlike the way she left it. When she proceeded to close the door a gust of wind slammed the door shut, knowing she didn’t leave the window open that’s when she noticed Madeline was not in her bed. Kate frantically searched the apartment thinking maybe she got up for a snack or to use the bathroom but there was no sign of her.
Kate alerted Gerry and the rest of the parents and even some of the resort staff members who then all proceeded to search for Madeline. The next day following the long nights search for Madeline, Kate and Gerry speak to the media about their missing child for the first time pleading for any information on her whereabouts. Jane Tanner, One of the other parents speaks out to tell police about a strange encounter. She noticed a man wearing a large coat carrying a child away from the resort around the time of Madelines disappearance. She thought this to be odd since the child was barefoot and the way he was holding the child just didn’t feel right. She was even able to provide specific detail for a sketch of the suspect, which police didn’t use to alert the media to help identify the suspect.
At this point the search continued, even expanding further out. It wasn’t until ten days after Madeline had gone missing that police names there first suspect, Robert Murat. Murat happened to place himself in the investigation helping translate since the family spoke English and were vacationing in Portugal. Also his house is located near the crime scene. Murat was depicted as a suspect, referring back to the statement Ms. Tanner had giving about the man carrying the child away from the resort, in the direct of Robert Murat house. After a pressing interview no arrest was made, and at this time things begin to fall off. No leads were being found, no new information, not much is being said by anyone.
Three months later following Madeline’s disappearance, police decide to bring cadaver dogs back to the resort apartment the McCan stayed in and search the rental car they used to get around while on holiday in Portugal. Other tourist had been in and out of the room since the time the McCann’s had been vacationing there, not sure what the police were expecting to find relating to Madeline. After the cadaver dogs alerted there trainers at a closet in the bedroom the parents stay in and also at the trunk of the rental vehicle. There was some speculation that maybe Kate and Gerry had given Madeline a sleeping aid to help her sleep but accidentally gave too much an overdosed, now trying to cover up her murder. This theory quickly left the the lime light, after the McCann’s explained what all they have experienced in an interview session.
For years the case grew cold until one day out of nowhere information about the case surfaced in 2020, about a man named Christian Bruckner. Christian was a known sex offender who travelled between Spain, Portugal, and Germany at the time of Madelines disappearance. Information about Bruckner rose when he was prisoned for sexual assault of and American tourist, which took also took place at the time of Madeline’s disappearance, also in same exact location. German police had been surveilling Christian for quit some time, due to his long criminal history, and where able to connect him to Madelines case, through digital evidence. Reports of Christian admitting to stalking out the McCann family for day and knowing their routine and knowing the patio door would be unlocked, allowed for him to abduct Madeline. To this day the whereabouts of Madeline’s remains still remain unknown.
That is the story of the young Madeline McCann. Stay tuned in for next weeks story!
Thanks readers!

Ok so in the Madeleine Mcann documentary - Robert Murat is so so suspicious even if he didn’t do it. He talks so absolutely about not being guilty and being stressed about being questioned but surely if there was someone that close to the investigation, they would know that nothing could be done without evidence. I think that his complete shock and outrage at being suspected falls in line with the ‘Ian huntley’ role where he put himself beyond reproach through helping the investigation.
I dunno - just my thoughts but I’m not surprised he was a person of interest.

XXIX. Guest List
February 2017
The day before Valentine’s day Isabella and Harry, along with Isabella’s parents and four ladies-in-waiting began discussing the bridal party at the early hours of the day. The sun wasn’t even up when Harry answered the door and found the group of seven standing there. Isabella was half asleep and looked as if she attempted to get dressed but gave up halfway.
Isabella’s father, Carl Christian, was the one to be carrying all the equipment, most of which Harry didn’t know what it was. It wasn’t until Christine of Orleans-Braganza and Charlotte of Murat began to set up three dry erase boards in the lounge. Each one of the boards was already labeled.
The first was for the bridal party and Christine had begun to write down possible names of the children who would be a part of the wedding. The second was for Harry’s immediate family and then that board had a thick black line down the middle. One section was for his father’s side of the family while the other was for the Spencer’s. The final board, which was very much larger than the rest, was dedicated to Isabella’s family. The Habsburgs and Luxembourg’s.
Amongst the chaos, Harry looked around the room to find his fiancé asleep in the corner of the room with a blanket around her. The blue blanket was one usually kept on one of the chairs for company. He thought about leaving her there or possibly picking her up and letting her sleep in his bed. Once he saw Charlotte of Murat coming in his direction he had no choice to wake up Isabella because he wasn’t going to deal with any of her ladies-in-waiting by himself. He wouldn’t say it out loud, but those women scared him.
It took a slow minute before Isabella had stood up with the blanket still around her and gave Harry the maddest face she could give, though it wasn’t making any effect on Harry. Charlotte grabbed one hand of Isabella and the other of Harry’s before placing them in chairs in front of the boards. There were already names on the first board for Isabella and very few names for Harry. They even had several question marks next to ’supporter’ for Harry.
“Why isn’t Gabriella’s name next to maid of honor? She’s my first choice,” questioned Isabella.
“Darling… Gabriella won’t be able to be your maid of honor because… she’s pregnant,” answered Marie Astrid.
“I’m sorry what?! By who? She can’t be pregnant!”
“You know that her and Henri have been seeing each other for some time now. It wasn’t an accidental pregnancy, they planned to have children, and Henri plans on marrying her next year,” explained Carl Christian further.
“Well, how far along is she?”
“She’s about 2 months. She thought we should know and then tell you that she can’t take any formal position in your wedding other than being just a guest,” smiled Marie Astrid.
It took a couple of seconds for Isabella to process that her little sister carried a human inside her at the moment, “So I guess this means we are definitely inviting Henri’s family to the wedding,” joked Isabella.
“He’s family either way.”
“Who is Henri and how is he related to you?” Asked Harry.
“Henri is a Prince of Bourbon-Parma so as a descendant of Robert Duke of Parma and through King Christian IX of Denmark. More importantly, Henri’s grandmother is Princess Marie Gabriele of Luxembourg a sister to our grandfather Jean. Henri’s closest relation is being our second cousin.”
“Second cousins. Like your parents and you and Joachim?” Asked Harry.
“Exactly,” agreed Isabella.
“We were thinking your cousins Marie Gabrielle or Charlotte could be your maid of honor,” smiled Christine.
“Not Marie Gabrielle. She is planning her own wedding so your only option is really Charlotte unless you have another idea Isabella,” corrected Carl Christian.
“Charlotte is fine. Perfect actually.”
“Perfect opportunity to find her a proper husband,” smiled Charlotte of Murat.
“No one will use my wedding to find spouses,” said Isabella in immediate anger.
“My dear, weddings a hundred year ago between royals were used for that exact reason,” replied Charlotte.
“Could we please move on?” suggested Harry.
“So, it’s decided? Charlotte shall be your maid of honor?” Asked Marie Astrid.
“Yes, I would like to tell her myself. Perhaps when all of the family is in Luxembourg next month. I can inform Charlotte and her parents of my decision,” agreed Isabella.
“Okay. Harry do you have any idea for will be your supporter or supporters?” Asked Marie Astrid.
“No. I do have one or two ideas but…” Mumbled Harry.
“Care to share?” Asked Charlotte of Murat.
“Well my brother is one but he’s busy. He has children and I was thinking Alexander if he’s available.”
“Oh, what a lovely idea!” Smiled Marie Astrid.
“I haven’t decided. I need more time to think about it,” said Harry.
“Not too much time. We’ll need to move things along, but it’s very sweet that you thought about Alexander for the position of supporter,” replied Marie Astrid.
“Shall we get started on the groom’s family. We can assume all immediate family of Her Majesty will be invited. Will the Gloucester’s and Kent’s also be invited?” Asked Christine.
“It would be customary that they are invited,” replied Harry, “I think my grandmother should have more of a formal list for helping me decide who is to receive an invite. My grandfather’s German relations will also be invited.”
“Will Princess Michael also be invited?” Asked Charlotte.
“Most likely yes. She is married to my grandmother’s cousin after all.”
“Isabella, I want you to stay away from the dreadful woman as much as possible,” spat Charlotte.
“I take your family doesn’t like her?” Asked Harry as he read the room. The clear distaste for Baroness Marie Christine, now The Princess Michael, showed Harry more of Isabella’s family true nature.
“She comes from nothing. Just some low life Barons and Counts and she acts like she a queen herself,” spat Carl Christian.
“That whole family is nothing but a bunch of social climbers! They were like leeches to Franz Josef and to your grandfather. All of them parasites! They enjoyed the good graces of the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy then ran away like cowards when the monarchy was abolished. Leaving their sovereign to die in exile. But that wasn’t enough, they went and joined the Nazi Party. They are disgusting people,” spat Marie Astrid.
“Remind me to keep Princess Michael away from your mother,” whispered Harry to Isabella.
“More like my whole family. Habsburgs never forget,” whispered Isabella.
“Perhaps we should put the lower Kent’s on a maybe list? Yes! We’ll have a ’maybe list’. Christine make one the board and put Princess Michael on the list,” smiled Charlotte.
The tension was thick, “Another we could put on the list is the Earl Spencer,” suggested Christine.
“My uncle? Why would we put him on the maybe list?”
“Harry, your uncle is a controversial man. All the marriages, but most importantly he’ll talk to the press any chance he gets if it means he has a camera in his face,” said Isabella in simpler terms. She just couldn’t outright insult Harry’s uncle.
“I do understand where you are coming from because my grandparents feel that way regarding his press interviews, but he’s family Isabella. I can’t simply not invite him.”
“Why don’t we save this for another time?” Asked Carl Christian.
“So, Harry’s family is done with, why don’t we move on to our family?” Asked Christine.
It was funny to Isabella that Christine said ‘our family’. Christine may have been born a Princess of Ligne but her mother was also a Princess of Luxembourg by birth. Despite her marrying a Prince of Orleans-Braganza she remained close to her blood relatives above all. Christine was Isabella’s mother’s cousin and her father’s cousin as well. She was family, but to Isabella she never completely felt like it.
Besides Olympia, Isabella’s other three ladies-in-waiting were 'friends of the family’ types. Gaelle was a Countess de Lannoy, Isabella’s distant cousin, and Gaelle’s sister Stephanie was married to Guillaume, Isabella’s cousin. Charlotte of Murat simply had strong connections to the Ligne family. Charlotte was born a countess of Ursel and when she married her husband Prince of Murat she got lucky. The Murat family had close relations with the Ligne family which is how she was able to get her position.
“Well I think we should start with foreign royalty. It’ll be a shorter list than listing our family,” suggested Isabella as everyone nodded.
“Well the Scandinavian royals will be invited,” started Charlotte of Murat.
“I’m the spare. You don’t have the invite them, they’ll probably won’t come,” interrupted Harry.
“Nonsense! The King of Norway is my mother’s cousin. He’ll come with his family as well. The Danish Queen is a delight to have at any event and if she comes then we can almost guarantee the King of Sweden to come as well. We must send a separate invitation to Princess Madeleine of Sweden as she’s living in London,” said Marie Astrid.
“Why don’t we set up a day out with Isabella and Princess Madeleine. Both are foreign princesses living in this soggy country. It would help her strengthen her ties with foreign royalty. After all, two-thirds of the Scandinavian royals are only distantly related to you,” suggested Charlotte of Murat.
“I will not use someone just to ’strengthen ties’. That’s rude. If I’m going to be her friend it’ll be because I want to get to know her and want to be her friend. I’m already enough of a pawn as it is,” argued Isabella.
“You and Princess Madeleine have more in common than you think. Both of you are foreigners who married British men, and now you find yourself living in London. Thousands of lignes away from your family,” said Christine.
“I have Louis in London. Alexandra is just a couple of hours away in Scotland studying for her masters. I have ’family’ because I literally have family all over Europe. Besides, I trust Harry more than enough to make me not feel alone in London,” said Isabella as Harry placed his hand of hers and squeezed lightly. It gave her reassurance that Harry would make her feel like family.
“Isabella is right. As long I breathe I will make everything easier for her,” agreed Harry.
“What about children? Will you allow them to bring their children? Family, friends, and others cannot be painted with the same brush,” said Carl Christian.
“I’m pretty sure you said that wrong, but I’ll forget about that… well, I think the children of immediate family members must come. Maria Stella, Leopold, Katharina, and the rest have to come. Amalia and Noah too.”
“Amalia and Noah?” Asked Harry.
“Amalia is my cousin Felix’s daughter. Noah is Louis’ son,” answered Isabella before turning her attention to the main subject, “Crown Prince and Princess couples should bring their children too if they’d like. I don’t have an objection to children.”
“Harry?”
“If Isabella is fine with it then so am I, but maybe we should put it out there that just because children are allowed that they not be so young. Set a minimum age of 2 or 3,” suggested Harry.
“Lovely idea,” smiled Charlotte of Murat.
“Well Asian royals will be invited but will probably send lower royals in their place so their country is still represented,” continued Marie Astrid.
“I’m the spare. I wouldn’t be surprised if kings and queens didn’t come. One person I really want on the list is Prince Seesio of Lesotho and his family. It’s important that they are invited.”
“Done,” nodded Christine as she wrote on one of the boards.
“The Prince and Princess of Monaco should receive an invite. The Prince’s sister married a Prince of Hanover so she’ll need an invitation as well to represent the Hanoverians,” spoke Carl Christian.
“Will the Netherlands receive an invitation as foreign royalty or family?”
“Too distantly related to be considered family,” answered Marie Astrid.
“King Willem Alexander’s brother and his wife should receive an invite. Don’t forget to send one to Princess Mabel, the widow of his brother. We can’t forget about The King of the Netherlands cousins. They are after all Princes of Bourbon-Parma.”
“That can be discussed later. King Willem Alexander’s cousin may have a Dutch Princess as their mother but their father is from a disposed monarchy,” answered Carl Christian.
Harry was going to object to that but things moved too quickly as Charlotte spoke again, “Middle Eastern royals will receive an invitation as well?” Then was met with nods from several people in the room.
“The Spanish king and queen will be invited as family or foreign royalty?” Asked Christine.
“Family. King Juan Carlos would love that gesture. Besides, Franco may have given him the Spanish throne, but he knows that his blood is weak. His throne may not survive some 100 years from now. He’ll come running to his Bourbon family side for help soon enough,” spoke Carl Christian.
“The Belgians and Liechtenstein’s will be invited as family. Prince Hans-Adams will also love the gesture and it will put Isabella farther in his good graces. He may be less than ten years older than your father and I, but that man won’t live long to see a birth of a great-grandchild. Let’s all hope that he left something for Isabella,” predicted Marie Astrid.
From then on Harry watched as Isabella and her parents talked back and forth about who from their family was coming to wedding. Seeing all the names and all the titles changed something within Harry. He obviously knew Isabella came from a big family and he knew many of them had titles by birth or by marriage, but everything was starting to sink in more what he had gotten into.
Right in the middle of everything William had come into the room and looked awkward amongst the small chaos. Harry gestured for his older brother to sit next to him as Isabella was talking to her parents.
“How are things going?”
“Just going over Isabella’s family. As you can tell by the board and tiny handwriting there is a lot.”
“What does PBP?” Asked William
“Prince or Princess of Bourbon-Parma. AA basically means Archduke of Austria and the female equivalent; AAE means Archduke of Austria Este and the female equivalent; AAPT means Archduke of Austria, Prince of Tuscany. Trust me it took me a while to understand them,” smiled Harry.
“There’s a lot of them. What about all those other abbreviations?” Asked William as he pointed to the board.
“Titles I think. Some get too long and since there are so many Charlotte has resorted to making their names shorter. Some of the things she wrote I don’t even understand. I think she’s the only one who even understands what she writing at this point,” joked Harry.
“So, I was thinking that you and Isabella should come over next month for dinner. Kate feels that their first meeting didn’t go well and wants another chance.”
“Maybe. Isabella has a busy schedule so I’ll have to talk to her later. Not to mention we’re going to Luxembourg next month.”
“For what?”
“The Luxembourg Grand Ducal family is gathering in Luxembourg for the civil wedding of Isabella’s cousin Marie Gabrielle. Isabella’s also going to Belgium later on this week to attend a mass in honor of deceased Belgian Royals with some of the members of the actual Belgian Royal Family and the Luxembourg Grand Ducal Family,” answered Harry.
“I’m guessing your friends with them? The Luxembourg Royals that is?”
“If you want to call it that yes. Louis has been a big help getting Isabella situated here in London. Jean and Guillaume decided to become patrons of the Invictus games which is amazing. Her younger cousins Marie Gabrielle and Charlotte were nice to me the entire time I was in Luxembourg with them. They even helped me get to Château of Belœil when we spent New Year’s in Belgium.”
“Planning any other trips?” Asked William with a bit of sarcasm.
Nonetheless, Harry answered, because deep down inside he wanted to rub it in his brother’s face that he was the one going and not William, “Isabella and I have 4 wedding to go to. Her cousins are all marrying this year so we’ll most likely have to fly to Spain or France for those weddings. At least that’s what Isabella said. Her family mostly marry in those two countries and I think the Luxembourg Grand Ducal Family have property they all stay at in June for a holiday which Isabella and I will be at,” replied Harry.
“Can’t believe my little brother is going to be flying across Europe rubbing elbows with all of the European royalty. Can’t say I ever saw that happening,” laughed William.
“It’s not all of the European royalty. Maybe just the Belgians, Luxembourg’s, Liechtenstein’s, and Spanish. That sounds like a lot, but it’s not! Besides, it’s not like I’m the one getting these invitations. It’s all Isabella. I wouldn’t be going if it weren’t for her,” replied Harry.
“But you like it right? Getting to go to all these parties in Belgium and France. I’m the future king I should be the one going to those things. Maybe I should’ve married someone with a title,” joked William.
Though Harry didn’t take it as a joke, “I’m not marrying Isabella for her title.”
“And I’m not saying you are. But Harry, be serious, you enjoy all the good things she comes with. Money, family connections, and all those holidays you will take without getting hounded by the press about the money you are spending.”
“Maybe you and Kate should spend less time holidaying and more time actually working and you wouldn’t be slaughtered in the press about it,” snapped Harry. “Besides, you sat there I have no control over her money or anything else in her names. And those family connections you praise are nothing. They are her family not some type of business connection. What Isabella and I do with our time won’t concern you or Kate.”
It didn’t take long after Harry’s small outburst for his brother to leave. The rest of the day was spent figuring out who was going to be invited. Just like Harry had predicted, Isabella ended up going to sleep on the floor by the afternoon. Carl Christian wanted to wake her up but Harry insisted that she sleep. So, Harry did what he thought was best for her. He carried Isabella into his bedroom and laid her on his bed.
Once the list was done Charlotte just told Harry this was a draft because some of the people on the list could fall out of favor. Out of favor to Charlotte of Murat meant they couldn’t give her anything she wanted. Out of favor to everyone else depended if they talk to the press about Isabella. Once again, their main concern was for Isabella’s safety and her image in the press.

Dov’è andata Maddie? https://www.frontedelblog.it/2015/02/09/natascha-kampusch-storie-segregazioni-incredibili/ L’INCHIESTA - L’inchiesta porta ovunque. Netflix documentary : Madeleine McCann who was abducted form a hohiday apartment in Portugal in 2007.
The new documentary, ‘The disappearance of Madeleine McCann’ is very mysterious which angages the audience and makes you think and sometimes makes you clueless.
The first episode: Madeleine McCann disappears form the holiday appertment (ocean club, in Praia De Luz) where she was asleep with her twin siblings; when her parents were having a tapas (100 yards)close to the holiday apartment. The McCann and their friends have planned to have a check on their children every 20 minutes. Firstly why would you live your child asleep alone at night. It also says that some times their friend also had check on the McCann children’s; and finally at the last time when Kate goes to have a check Madeleine dissappers. In the documentary it shows that Hanna one of the McCann friends Had seen a men carrying a child who was asleep, when she went to check on her Owen children’s. Everyone panics and starts to fine Madeleine, and it gbreaks out on the news.
Episode 2: Robert Murat a local resident who hears about the news and tries to help the McCann in communication with the people ( as the McCanns had problems which communicating with the people especially the GNR the police) who in the midpoint in the documentary becomes a possible suspect for disappearance of Madeleine McCann, as some of the press found him being strange and have a doubt that he might be the person. reason: he was helping them and he also lives few blockers (200 yards) away form the McCanns appertment. Lori Campbell a reporter form the Sunday Mirror news “Lori has become suspicious of rob”; “becomes very concerned when he notices his photo being taken”; “going through a messy divorce”.
Lori related Robert Murat to Ian Huntley, murders of 2, 10 year old girls holly Marie Wells and Jessica Aimee Chapman on 4 August 2002 in Sohail, Cambridge, England. The Soham Village College caretaker, Ian Huntley’s motive for killing the girls is unknown, but minutes before seeing them he reportedly slammed the telephone down to Carr following a furious argument. Huntley and allegedly suspected Carr of cheating on him, leading to both Huntley’smother on the police to suspect that Huntley killed the girls in a fit of jealous rage”. Suggests that he did not have any plans for killing then as it happened in the movement of anger after speaking to Carr ( Huntley’s girlfriend). After all that had happened Huntley played innocent and played of helping the two girls family in finding the girl knowing that they are dead and he had killed them. He also spoke to the press during the investigation, its very impressive to see how he could present himself to the press during the investigation and the way he acted innocent. The Huntley’s case showed me what Lori means about Robert Murat.
Episode 3: This part of the documentary is very angaging as the investigation does not find any evidence, they get dogs, two dogs, one who can sense human cadaver (Eddie)and the other (Kella)who car sense blood, which thay can detacte even afters years. This section creates a turn in the story as what the dogs discovered is unbelievable. During the investigation they first let Eddie the dog which can sense human cadaver in the apartment ‘5A’ and the dog finds codaver sense in the bedroom between the bed and the wardrob and the other place is in the sitting room behind the sofa; Then the next dog kella comes into the apartment and senses blood at the same place as the cadaver found “behind the sofa”. This is shocking as it makes you think, ‘ did the McCanns fill in the entire story or are they vaguely covering the truth?’ As over endience was sensed by both of the dog and it was form the McCanns rental car which they had hired. This is a vast turning point in the story, as it makes the McCanns a suspect...but after finally analysing the DNA report, it said that there were more then many DNA were found which made it andunreliable evidence.
Through out the documentary there are many different stories tools by some of the witnesses of what they have seen before and after the disappearance but no evidence have beeen found.
The final episode: 6 years missing; during this time there is another suspect identified, who sexually assaulted 5 young girls in Portugal an intruder who attacked young girls in bedrooms at night, a sexual predator; one of the incident toke place in Praia De Luz place where Madeleine when missing. This gives me goosebumps of hows this sexual predator enter the homes or rente homes of the family by them not knowing.
The one inside the shown in the documentary about the sexual preadiltor is that he entire a room of a young girl( serious cases: assaulted British female children aged between 7-10 years old) wearing mask and slept next to the young girl, and the girl said, “ is that you daddy” and the the intruder said “yes”. Image how many cases of this kind have taken around the world.
This makes us think are the kids safe in the society that we live in, why are this people doing this, don’t they have families; why are they shattering other families... can’t this be ceased to create a better society.
