A lot of characters have remarked on mahiru's lack of sense for danger, I wonder if he got that from his mom. I feel like you have got to be either very brave or very oblivious to get with touma.

Reaction to the fact that someone tried to kill you
Tumblr media
Makota Naegi: You've become good friends with him during your stay at Hope's Peak, so it's safe to say that his luck extends to you as well. Passing by honey. Strange noises were heard from a crack in the doorway in the office. Not afraid, Makoto opened the door and saw how they were trying to kill you. Thus scared off your killer. Don't worry, everyone will know your killer.
Kyoko Kirigiri: As usual, walking around the school, but not on the first floor. A strange feeling could not leave her, which was leading to the scene of a future crime. When he met Makoto, it was clear from his face that something had happened. She approached with a quick step. I saw your killer and you with hematomas on your body. Now he is watching him.
Celestia Ludenburg: “Someone here can't adapt?” still with this mask says Celes. Surprisingly, you also have a good relationship with her. Can't do anything against your killer. But now the two of you are walking around, and the mangaka is around the corner as bait.
Byakuya Togami: “Well, Makoto? Will you continue to say that no one will kill anyone?” He found a reason to mock. Because of this attempt, he began to look both ways. Thinks you need to be careful. Has nothing against you.
Toko Fukawa: Began to be rude to this killer, so that Byakuya finds it difficult to shut up the writer's verbal flow. Just like Byakuya is watching you. Sometimes he stumbles upon a mangaka, then she forgets everything and a big concert begins.
Genocide Jack: Every time she sees the killer, she starts looking for a rope to tie his corpse, as she usually does with victims. But each time he sneezes and another performance begins.
Aoi Asahin: The only one who decided to help you and treat your wounds. Crying, she doesn't want to lose you. Thinking about how to get revenge on your killer. After all, there will be no execution.
Sakura Ogami: That under-killer almost killed you and brought Aoi to tears. Took advantage of your underdeveloped strength. Well, he's obviously been walking around like a minefield the rest of the time.
Yasuhiro Hagakure: “I knew it!” did the layout on the cards and he got death, a man with a frame and an angel. He thinks that he would have sat even longer, then he would have figured out who it was. And so Yasuhiro, like a bell. If the killer comes into view, he starts screaming. Warning that a leper is coming.
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
Hajime Hinata: “Oh my god, Y/N!” you were attacked in the building, but you ran out of there and ran into Hajime. Here he explains the whole situation. He lifted it to everyone's ears. Now your killer is being held in the same way as Nagito. You are his girlfriend, he was worried.
Nagito Komaeda: “Oh, I'm not the only one who had plans” they are sitting in the same room, tied. Your killer is unlucky to be in the same room as him. As I understand it, he is already thinking why I was not executed??? And so, you liked him. So, sits and comes up with a second assassination attempt.
Chiaki Nanami: Quietly approached you when no one was with you. I hugged you. Not afraid for you. You're alive and the guys will take care of your killer.
Mahiru Koizumi: "It's so mean, you're acting like a man," Mahiru, who has turned pale, mumbles under her breath. Very worried. He staggers from the killer and won't let you in.
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu: "Hah, you managed to escape and betray the killer," that's all the yakuza said. Who knows what he meant. It would be better if she died and he was executed, or did he praise you like that?
Ibuki Mioda: Shock. For a while I thought you were a zombie. During this time, I came up with a new song, which I sang to you after your amendment.
Nekomaru Nidai: At that moment I was in the toilet. When he came out, it was already difficult to tear one person away from the killer. Together with Soda, they tied him up and threw him to Komaede.
Akane Owari: "Oh, it's time to test your strength," Akane began to warm up. You two love to eat. I do not want to lose such a fellow.
Peko Pekoyama: Walks around you and tries to make sure himself and you that everything will be all right. Won't let him near you. Yes, and when everyone else.
Hiyoko Saionji: “You are so disgusting that death does not want for you...” Peko's menacing look did not allow her to agree. Everything is as usual.
Sonya Nevermind: Together with Mikan, they did the dressing. Asking others to look after you. He thinks that he would be the most worthless killer. And now he considers you a good runner.
Kazuichi Soda: Catching your killer. He ran with a rope, like a butterfly. Until Nekomaru intervened and crushed that butterfly with his body.
Gundam Tanaka: He watched the butterfly catch and closed the eyes of the hamsters. Often began to follow you as a shadow. But more often he sends animals.
Mikan Tsumiki: “R-r-anas are shallow-b-b-side, so that it's not-not scary,” her cod.
Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony
Kaede Akamatsu: Opened the door to the office and saw a picture of you being strangled. She screamed, betraying herself. The killer had already thought about the second victim. But then a passing person intervened.
Shuichi Saihara: Strange sounds and intuition directly shouted that it was worth going in that direction. I ran to the place. I saw a receding shadow, and two bad-looking girlfriends. When he found out the name of the one who did it, he told everyone.
K1-B0: Rushed to check on your condition.
Maki Harukawa: She was that person. Took and broke the killer. What surprised the others, but the main thing was defended by Y/N. You made friends with this girl.
Kaito Momota: "Did he try to kill you?" He's torn in half. It seems right to go to the dream, but it seems that you are his girlfriend, whom she does not want to lose.
Himiko Yumeno: She was too lazy to tell you. And this whole situation was exhausting for her. Therefore, when you are left alone, it will fall into your arms.
Rantaro Amami: “Excuse me, what?” the guy was worried. Ran around you like a stung bee.
Ryoma Hoshi: The only one who suggested that he somehow isolate this killer so that there would be no second attempt.
Kirumi Tojo: “Honey, are you hurt a lot?” Mommy is interested. After all, the truth worries. Thinks you need to do one less serving.
Anji Yonaga: She was praying at that moment. So, when she found out about what had happened, she told everyone about her prayer. Shares with you his positive.
Tenko Chyabashira: “Here you are!” Tenko shouts at the killer. First of all, as I saw him, I decided to shout so that everyone knew where he was. And then I went to try new aikido techniques on it.
Korekiyo Shinguji: Stopped Chabashira. After all, this is wrong. Although in my head it is already breaking the bones of your offender.
Miu Iruma: I tuned K1-B0 better. So that he can help you. Doesn't want to be nice.
Gonta Gokuhara: "Oh, n-no," Gonta began to cry. Ran to you to learn everything firsthand. After that, he began to walk with you and lead like a true gentleman.
Kokichi Oma: His deceitful mask was gone for a few seconds. But he started his game again. Just started getting your killer. Bringing him to emotions. Showing that he acted very stupidly.
Tsumugi Shirogane: "That's awful, I hope you're okay," Tsumugi began to speak softly and sweetly. Stroking on the head. It looks very strange.

HI @rainbowghostcat and @boxx-sama -- I have been enabled so I'm here to ramble a bit about my faves >:3 Top three are definitely Fuuta, Mahiru, and Yuno! Good taste gang !!🤝✨✨✨
It's a mix of enjoying their songs, genuinely getting into their stories, and relating to them just enough to go a little crazy asdfsd :') Shidou comes in at a close 4th, I love him a lot but I'm not as insane as I am about these guys lmao.
I was holding onto these asks to ramble when I had the time/energy but uuuuhhh I didn't mean to go on for so long sorry 😭 Woe, 03 06 02 thoughts be upon ye...
Tumblr media
Starting with Fuuta!! His character has everything – He’s cool, he’s lame, he’s terrifying, he’s tragic, he’s funny, he’s unbearably real, he’s my silly little guy, he makes me cry, etc. The core of his character that always gets me is how normal he is. How he’s probably closest to the majority of the audience – he (and Kazui) are the only ones who did not have murder on their mind at all. He anticipated harm, but the thought of someone dying never once crossed his mind. He’s right around teens/early twenties. He engages with the online world a lot. So many milgram fans are in that age range, on the internet a lot (in order to enjoy the project and its fanbase), feel a strong sense of justice (since they’re so engaged in a project about morality), and aren’t in any situation dramatic enough that they expect anyone to die. He’s so much like all of us.
Continuing on that, his heart really is in the right place to start. He cares deeply about people and society, which is why he wants to fix it. His vision is a bit small, focusing on petty issues rather than huge social issues, but the point is he cares. He attacks Es because he’s trying to be the brave representative after hearing Haruka and Yuno were attacked. He yells at Kazui and Mahiru because they’re not helping the others. He takes care of Haruka. He gives Mahiru a birthday gift even when he has nothing to give.
His biggest issue is, he doesn’t belong. I’ve written up a whole analysis on how he’s written very neurodivergent: he misses social cues, he’s on the outskirts of friendships and groups. It’s more clear in characters like Haruka and Muu, but Fuuta is just as incredibly desperate for attention. For love. For that feeling of belonging in a group. His knightly fantasies aren’t ones of violence and weapons – they’re mostly scenes of him surrounded by a close-knit party of adventurers who are cheering him on.
All of this together is what makes him so compelling and so tragic to me. All the characters are human and real, but he’s the closest to a lot of viewers (myself included). He let the attention get to his head for just a bit too long, let himself get swept away in finally having friends. He got distracted thinking that the focus of being a hero was defeating, and not protecting. And all it took was a brief time of getting drunk on this attention, and now he has a little girl’s blood on his hands. It makes me absolutely insane.
I also think he’s such a cool special case because he truly got a taste of his own medicine. The other characters are being judged in an unfamiliar way, but he is being scrutinized in the Exact same way that Fuuta pried open others’ privacy. He was attacked and almost died because of Es’ judgment, just as his victim was attacked because of his judgment. The process of Milgram is putting him in his victim’s shoes, and it’s so cool to see.
Aaaaand on a lighter note – he’s just so fun!! He’s my little skrunkly fr!!! I love his shit-eating grin. I love his ridiculous laugh. I love his crooked teeth. I love the knight theme, and the fire symbolism. It’s pretty standard, but it suits him perfectly. He’s got such cool, badass songs! I’m obsessed with his voice, both his singing and vd performances are incredible. His vds are the only ones I’ll listen to often and out of the blue – Arthur Lounsbery uses such an interesting and fun voice for him ;--; His design is so fun (apparently I have a Type for redhead characters…), and his t2 development and design were amazing! There has been no other Milgram character that I want to reach through the screen and shake violently by the shoulders and also hug so badly 😂
Tumblr media
I’m so obsessed with her theme of ‘being so kind that it causes harm’!! Because it’s very easy to dismiss the other characters as unforgivable when you look at the harm they wanted to cause their victim, or disregard they had for their victim’s feelings. But Mahiru… she doesn’t want to cause any harm. At all. She took her boyfriend’s feelings into consideration so much so that she didn’t stop him when she definitely should have. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and yet she fucked up big time!! It’s such a unique type of murder!! The other characters need to be sat down and told “don’t hurt innocents, don’t seek revenge, don’t be selfish, etc” and then Mahiru is over here like “don’t be… nice to people.” Because it’s not about being nice per se – it’s about not being a doormat.
(I know her story is still a bit mysterious – my running theory is that her bf had health issues completely separate from their relationship. They started getting bad and he started to consider suicide. Instead of stopping him, Mahiru combined her need to copy her lover (as seen a lot in TIHTBILWY), her ideas that lovers do everything together, and her belief that one should do anything they set their mind to (as seen in her comments about Es/Kotoko and the attack). She says she’ll join him, make it a lovers’ suicide, but doesn’t follow through at the last second.)
She (and Mikoto) have really interesting themes of how not caring for yourself can actually hurt others. They put all their efforts into giving back to others, to society, fitting into the norms and expectations, not questioning others, and it backfires catastrophically. If she had stood up for herself and her relationship, she would not have assumed anyone deserved to die. She would have known that it wasn’t up to her alone to deal with her bf’s mental issues. She obviously wasn’t handling it correctly (rats….) but she didn’t need to! She should have pointed him to professionals instead of deciding she deserved to die along with him! But she was so poisoned by society’s expectations of being the perfect girlfriend and being considerate of others…
She’s just such a tragic case because the power of love is supposed to be perfect. She’s been taught her whole life that it’s wonderful and magical and pure. Who can kill with the power of love, after all? I can completely understand her denial of the situation, because I also wouldn’t picture a terrifying, dark scene if I knew I was only being nice for my whole life!
And her crime aside – she’s super fun :3 She has The Most Fun songs, she’s full of energy and excitement and enthusiasm! (out of the various english covers I like, hers is the one I jam out to most often hehe). She’s the most stunning character there! I’m a sucker for sunshine-coded characters 🌻🌻🌻I think she has the best symbols out of everyone, between the birdcage and the carousel. The fact that both Mahiru and her bf could be the bird and the cage. The two symbols representing beautiful things that can be trapping. Representing cycles. Representing relationships. I know the hourglass is a popular one but I think this is Yamanaka's finest set of symbols. I am unwell about it. So yeah, rather than give her a good shake I want to yank her right out of there – Get in loser we’re gonna get you some self-love!!!!
Tumblr media
And a slightly shorter rant on Yuno because that was a lot adfsdf. Ad I'm aware of the irony that one of my points is that it kinda sucks how most rants on Yuno are cut short :( The thing is, she’s been very honest about her crime, and most people have considered her issue in a context outside of Milgram so they already have a pretty good idea on where their vote stands. Despite being the “obvious” innocent one, she really is the most emotionally charged character imo. It’s easy to relate to the other characters and feel knee-jerk reaction, but none have been so widely discussed as abortion and sex work. I can talk openly about everyone else and get into a nice discussion on morals and emotions, but Yuno is the one character I have to talk very, very carefully around. Whether I’m rambling about Milgram to my family or interacting with new fans, I never know what’s acceptable to say without falling into a whole debate on politics.
So, if it’s made me into someone who keeps quiet and skirts around things, I shudder to imagine the amount of lying/masking Yuno herself must do on a daily basis. I can easily avoid the topic if I choose to – she was dealing with that debate long before coming to Milgram, and is currently dealing with debates and judgements and insults and pity surrounding it. She’s naturally strong so I think fans often forget all the shit that this 18yo is dealing with on a daily basis, and how effortless she’s making it look <3

We’ve got enough Kamukuras to fill up a bucket or something at this point, lol. Regarding that, what’s your thoughts on a Kamukurafied Komaeda? I’ve seen peoples takes on him before but I’m just curious on what yours would be
Oh, I love this. More Kamukuras than we know what to do with. I've definitely seen some sketches of a Nagizuru concept, and those were awesome, but let me think, lol.
I feel like his luck has to do something during the surgery itself. Like, I think we almost can't have a character with Nagito's luck and say his luck was being chill during something as pivotal and time-consuming as the Kamukura Project. So I'm thinking the scientists made a small but crucial mistake on him that is both good luck and bad luck depending on how you look at it.
I'm going to say, instead of just removing his emotions and autonomous motivation, the scientists manage to accidentally give him super overactive reward centers. The rest of the project was a success. His emotions are still gone in most ways, but now, unlike most Kamukuras, he gets powerful hits of dopamine for completing tasks. He considers himself lucky, since he's enjoying himself more than the other Kamukuras, but the result also means that he becomes severely pleasure-seeking.
The only thing he can feel is reward. This means he is addicted to practicing his talents, but it also means he will go out of his way to use as many of his talents as he can.
The scientists initially write this off as a positive; feeling highly rewarded for a job well done means he's more engaged in what they ask of him than any of his predecessors. Sure, they're a little worried when he starts disassembling and reassembling things over and over, worried that becoming addicted to small, meaningless busy work will start to take priority over the actual things they want him to do. But he's still a Kamukura, and he still eventually gets bored of repetition, so it's fine.
They should be more worried about the disassembling part. The fact that he feels just as rewarded by tasks he himself creates, just as rewarded by work he himself makes necessary, just as happy to fix what he himself breaks, should worry them more.
They should be really worried about how easily he gets bored.
But this trial of the Kamukura Project (and if we're including every other AU in this, then I guess he's Iteration 4, after Mahiru's Iteration 3, lol. Byakuya I still see as more of a joint endeavor between the Togami Corporation and Hope's Peak, not nominally a part of the Hope Cultivation Plan, but rather a "separate" project, maybe called the Heir Enhancement Plan. He's still called Byakuya Togami. Then again, it would make sense for Nagito to have been before Makoto, since I could see Hope's Peak using a luckster and a reserve course student one year, then the next year's luckster as well. Maybe Mahiru got thrown in because she caught them dragging off Sato, idk. So, Iteration 1 is Hajime's Izuru Kamukura. Iteration 2 is Nagito. Iteration 3 is Makoto. Iteration 4 is Sato, but for right now I'm saying there was some complication and she died while they were working on her. And Iteration 5 is Mahiru.)
But this trial of the Kamukura Project is really pleasant to be around. When the scientists question him, he's very eager to answer the questions. After all, positive social interactions are highly rewarding for him.
He's extremely physically affectionate with the other Kamukuras, though Makoto is the only one who always tolerates it, so Makoto is the one he goes the farthest with, especially when Izuru isn't around to stop him. (Byakuya will also intervene, but not as regularly. And Mahiru sees it as respecting Makoto's autonomy to let him decide who's allowed to touch him.) He'll just be cuddling Makoto and nuzzling into his hair, and Makoto is just blinking and stoic. Bonus points if Makoto says something like, "I like it," one time when they do this, and it's the first thing he's ever said he liked. His first opinion ever, as Iteration 3, is that cuddling is nice.
(Izuru will be jealous of this. And Nagito would feel extremely rewarded by the accomplishment.)
Nagito Kamukura does not have compassion or all that much regard for the consequences of his actions. Because of his new analyst talents, he's able to plan ahead which courses of action will be the most rewarding for him, which means his pleasure-seeking isn't short-sighted, but if a course of action contains 5 guaranteed instances of pleasure and 10 possible negative repercussions, it is probably full steam ahead on that plan unless he can think of one with more guaranteed instances of pleasure. The only consequences that matter are ones that limit his ability to keep doing things.
In the at-this-point-inevitable event that there's some mass breakout of the Kamukuras, I could see Nagito staying behind to tend to the few scientists who didn't immediately die by Byakuya's or Mahiru's hand. Once he finishes bandaging them up so they're on the mend, he'll break an arm here, a leg there, so he has more stuff to heal.

On the bus, so let’s talk about the immortal mahiru au.
Mahiru starts out as a courtesan’s son in the heian period
He ends up accidentally gaining immortality from a god he unknowingly helped. (Probably a sun god, for symbolism reasons)
He doesn’t notice at first, but eventually it becomes obvious he hasn’t aged at all in the last ten years.
It’s an adjustment for sure, getting used the immortality and the innate magick that comes with it.
So he does the only rational thing he can think of. He fakes his death and leaves the country.
Spending the next couple decades country hoping, he finally decides enough is enough and temporarily settles down in a small English town in the county of Lancashire.
He meets the local shepherd, a pretty young man named Adam, who offers the wanderer a job on the tenet farm he runs. It was left to him after his parents passed away from sickness.
It doesn’t take very long for a romance to blossom between the two. It’s the first time in almost a century mahiru can really connect to someone.
This doesn’t last of course. Adam dies, rather horribly I may add, and mahiru is once again left to pick up the pieces of his scattered life.
He leaves town after the funeral, that’s nothing left for him here anymore. He keeps Adam’s small golden cross necklace, wearing it constantly.
He spends the next several centuries wandering, mostly working as a travelling exorcist. It’s surprising common how often he can find work, Europe has some serious spirit problems.
There is one rumour he can’t bare to actually check. Rumours of a wraith clad in a tattered black cloak and a ram skull mask, carrying a black sword with black roses on the hilt. The Lancashire Reaper, folk called the spector.
Though he could never bring himself to return to Lancashire, he never actually left Europe. As much as it hurt, England was always the place he’d find himself walking back to.
He meets other immortals along the way, though he never stays long enough to form long lasting relationships. He just won’t risk that kind of heartbreak again.
Some of the immortals speak in hushed whispers about a faceless man and the demonic vampires he created. Few actually payed these rumours any mind.
Eventually mahiru settles down again, this time in London. He gets a job teaching history at a local university. Things are going well for a while.
He’d been walking home from work when he came across the cat. A small black stray. It seemed hurt, so mahiru took it home.
It seemed normal until he got home the next day. He’d just hung up his coat and bag when a voice made him jump.
“So, you’re the man messing about somewhere he ought not to be.”
It was rough and sarcastic, but so achingly familiar. Mahiru almost didn’t want to turn around, but he did.
He met the stranger’s eyes, the man perched atop a shelf opposite the professor. Blood red eyes, ice blue hair, a slight point to his ears. Soft freckles dusted his cheeks, dark circles frames his eyes. He was pale and looked exhausted, but he was undeniably beautiful in a strange unearthly way.
But it was the man’s expression that had mahiru’s interest. The way it has changed from a look of apathetic disinterest to confusion to shock to disbelief and pain. The way he’d raise a shaking hand to his pretty trembling lips. The way his eyes went wide. The way the words fell breathless from his tongue.
“No, no, that’s not possible.” The words made mahiru frown. He knew better than to push his luck. But now he was curious. So he asked his question. “What’s not possible?”
“Mahiru?”
He forgot how much he loved hearing his name off those lips. His fingers traced the small gold cross that hung around his neck. That scarlet gaze followed his fingers, a soft gasp and a quiet “you kept it?” Was all he needed to hear.
That first kiss left them both breathless, but that didn’t matter. It wouldn’t be the last kiss that night. Or any night after.
Mahiru wasn’t about to lose his love twice.

Order of Attack, Part 15
"YONAH"
(Or, if you have a better one-word title that fits the themes, I'll take it before I put this on AO3.)
After this, there's one chapter left before the main fic concludes. Side stories (and incessant bothering of Beans) shall continue.
Special thanks to @seariii for the feedback!
-
The moment Es opened Kotoko's cell door, she began speaking. "Greetings, Es. You kept me waiting." She didn't bother waiting as Es took a seat. "While you were gone, I carried out your judgment. Since this was only the first trial, though, I didn't go all-out-" She stopped when she noticed Es's expression. "Why are you so-"
"What have you done!?"
"Oh, my apologies. I wasn't able to cause enough pain to Kayano Mikoto and Shiina Mahiru."
"You… you…" You caused enough pain to them, alright! Mahiru lives in constant paranoia, wondering when it's her turn and believing it should be. Mikoto is suffering in isolation because he unknowingly interfered-
"Es? Are you okay? You're hardly coherent."
Es realized they had been hissing and growling instead of venting their thoughts. Fine by them. They didn't need to give Kotoko any more ammunition against the other prisoners.
While they were catching their breath, Kotoko continued.
"I decided to attack in numerical order. I was able to deal plenty of damage to Kajiyama Fuuta. Then Momose Amane showed up unexpectedly, saving me a trip. Kayano Mikoto interfered before I could finish, however, and I was unable to get enough hits in before Mukuhara Kazui broke up our fight, and when I went to Shiina Mahiru's cell-"
"Kotoko!" Es stood up, making Kotoko flinch. "You didn't go 'all-out'? You almost killed them. If everyone hadn't interfered when they did, Fuuta and Amane could have died!"
"Is that cause for concern?" Kotoko asked, concealing all traces of having been rattled. "You told me yourself that it's okay to kill scum that are murderers."
"Scum!?" Es slammed the table. "You're calling them- Wait, when did I ever say that?"
"Ever since you finalized my verdict, I could hear your voice loud and clear. 'That man was the trash of society. He got what was coming for him.' Honestly, I didn't mean to go that far, but-"
Es figured there was no arguing about the voices. The voices were a near-universal experience. Still…
"Did you ever consider what Fuuta and Amane had done?"
"What does it matter? You said they were unforgivable, so it wouldn't have mattered if-"
"You would have killed a child."
"So what? Children can be just as dangerous as adults. She's in this prison for murder, Es. You didn't let her off the hook, so why should I?"
I didn't know who her victim was last trial. I made my judgment on a mistaken assumption… They had to redirect their thoughts quickly. It wasn't their place to tell Amane's situation to Kotoko.
"That goes beyond 'letting them off the hook'. You attacked them when they couldn't fight back."
"Criminals don't fight fair. I wasn't going to seek them out on even ground. Say, you seem awfully protective of Amane, considering that you hit and restrained her last trial too."
Es was still mad about how Kotoko had eavesdropped on all the interrogations last trial, but they couldn't counter her argument.
"Or, could it be… You judged her for reasons other than her murder? A guilty judgment born out of misguided c-"
"Shut up!" Es pounded their fists on the table. It was all they could do not to slam their palm across Kotoko's face.
Kotoko chuckled. "You're only proving my point."
Es was supposed to finalize Amane's verdict later that day. Any lingering thoughts of declaring Amane unforgiven were crushed by this conversation.
They needed to break away from the topic of Amane. Maybe they could bring up Fuuta? He enacted misguided justice on a child too. Maybe Kotoko would see reason. No, they shouldn't feed Kotoko any more information about the other prisoners.
Kotoko took over in the silence again. "You've gotten soft, Es, backtracking and defending the very people you condemned. Did I execute my judgment based on such flimsy decisions? What a shame."
"There was no 'judgment' for you to execute. You acted on your own accord, out of line. There was no need for you to go that far!"
For all Es tried to reason with her, she may as well have been a brick wall. The way she attacked their character ticked them off so much that they could no longer stop their hand from connecting with her face. That only seemed to encourage her more.
Honestly, Kotoko brought up a lot of good points that they couldn't counter. They were almost drawn to her invitation to rely on her.
But no. They had to stand their own ground.
For Mahiru's sake. She wholeheartedly trusted Es to stick to their beliefs and judge honestly.
For Amane's sake. They owed it to her to make judgments they could stand behind firmly.
For Fuuta's sake. They promised to judge him with resolve. Leaving that judgment up to Kotoko would be a huge disservice to him.
And even for Kotoko's sake. If they were going to be the warden she expected them to be, then they couldn't falter and fall back on her.
It was Es's job to run Milgram. Kotoko would not take it from them.
-
Q. Aren't your actions overstepping boundaries?
A. I was just enacting your judgment, regardless of who was at the other end of the stick. I only serve as an extension of your will.

I'm starting to get into MILGRAM, and I thought of something with your idea of the MILGRAM cast being in the Evil First Years AU!
Imagine how Futa will react to the EFYs doings
Futa's whole thing is his strong-yet skewered sense of justice. He'll be absolutely furious with what the EFYs have done just for a few laughs, and disgusted with how they treated those around them, especially when they tried telling them to 'understand' their bullshit!

He is furious of what they have done, especially with EFY! Sebek's objectification of Isamu.
Though he felt horrible for those who we're close to them especially with that Sonomi girl from what he heard from Samara is close friends with Epel and is in love with Ace.
He wasn't sure if he wanted to tell Mahiru about the love part with Ace and Sonomi considering her current state: being in a wheelchair after almost died to Kotoko.
And if anything Kotoko is far better than those guys with her sense of justice being misguided even though she's the reason he lost his eye and Mahiru well you know...

Summary: Mahiru learns that she’s pregnant. (KuroMahi, Fem Mahiru)
Two red lines stared back at Mahiru. Her world was spinning and she feared she would throw up. For the past few days, she had felt nauseous and now she knew the reason. Mahiru was pregnant. She understood the word but the weight of it still hadn’t settled in. The initial shock shifted from happiness to fear and then panic. Those emotions clashed together and created a storm. When she was a child, her uncle told her to give a name to her emotions so they’ll be easier to face. She didn’t know if she could do that now.
“Mahiru, are you okay in there? You’ve been throwing up a lot. My cooking isn’t that bad so maybe we should go see a doctor.” Kuro knocked on the bathroom door. She opened her mouth to reply to him yet no words left her. What could she tell Kuro? How would he react if he knew that she was pregnant. When he became human again, neither of them thought of this scenario.
Another knock pulled her out of her spiralling thoughts. Mahiru looked from the pregnancy test to the door and contemplated what she should do. Even though she knew that she should tell Kuro and discuss such an important decision, she hesitated. She needed to make sense of her own emotion first. She placed the test in her pocket and opened the door. Kuro stood on the other side with a worried expression. The genuine concern in his eyes made her heart squeeze in her chest.
“I’m fine, Kuro. I just remembered something and I need to visit my uncle. It’s nothing dangerous so don’t make such a worried face.” Mahiru’s words didn’t ease his concern. They had known each other for years and it was easy for them to read the emotions of the other.
Kuro placed his finger beneath her chin and lightly lifted her face. Their eyes met and her heart squeezed. The way he looked at her could still make her heart race. Would she lose him once he knew about the baby? They discussed the possibility of having a family. Kuro had a large family with the Servamps and she envied that. Yet, that always felt like a far away future. What if Kuro wasn’t ready to be a father?
“Let’s stop by Tetsu's onsen on the way. He always give out free dango samples.” He leaned down and tapped their foreheads together. The light touch brought her back to when they were teenagers and she almost spiralled after her uncle was hurt. Since then, the gesture became his silent way to tell her to lean on him. She started to speak but something stopped the words. Mahiru made a strained smile.
“There’s something I want to ask my uncle about my mother.” She told him in a quiet voice. While she didn’t tell him anything further, Kuro understood. Mahiru loved her mother and there were still times when the loss felt more intense. He brushed her bangs from her eyes and then cupped her face.
“If you need me to pick you up after you finish talking with your uncle, call me.” She hugged him and pressed her face into his strong chest. He made her feel safe and Mahiru wanted to borrow his strength. She didn’t know whether it was the hormones from her pregnancy or how uncertain the news made her. The only thing she was certain of was that she hoped Kuro would hold her through it all.
Tumblr media
Mahiru knocked on her uncle’s door before she let herself in with the spare key. When she texted her uncle, he said he was at C3’s headquarters but he would return soon. He suggested that she wait inside for him. She felt a little nostalgic to return to the apartment where she grew up after her mother died. Her uncle had rearranged the apartment after she and Kuro moved out. Nevertheless, she could still clearly see the memories she formed there.
While he took her in, her uncle needed to work and she was left to raise herself. Mahiru didn’t resent him for those lonely nights because she saw him as a hero who would leave to protect the city. She almost laughed to herself at how ironic her childish imagination had a little unknowing truth. Then, Kuro came into her life. She placed her hand over her stomach as she recalled the memories the house held— both hopeful and lonely.
She stepped into the living room and her bittersweet reminiscing ended. Her eyes narrowed. In the kitchen, Touma sat at the table and worked on his laptop as if it were his own home. Seeing him act so casual in her uncle’s home irritated her. Mahiru had a complicated view on Touma. He was her father but their conflicting view on life and morals kept them from becoming close.
“Does my uncle know that you’re here, Touma?” She asked. Mahiru glanced at the clock and she hoped that her uncle would return soon.
“I wanted to go over documents with him. Since he isn’t here, I let myself in. Someone like Toru won’t mind.” Touma said and ignored her accusatory tone. “I’m surprised that your little guard cat isn’t with you. Did you and Kuro have a fight and you came here to vent to your uncle? I would offer advice but your uncle is better with these things than me. Tsurugi was a simple child compared to a wide eyed kid playing hero.”
“I wouldn’t call your training the same as ‘parenting’. People always call me soft and too forgiving but I don’t know how Tsurugi can still consider you family.” Mahiru huffed and crossed her arms. Despite her own words, a part of her understood. Touma rescued Tsurugi in a similar way her uncle held out his hand to her.
The one thing she could never make sense of was how Touma and her mother started dating. Mahiru glanced at the photo of her mother resting on the shelf. When she was a child, she saw her mother as a perfect hero. Now that she was older, she could see that their family was much more complicated. If only she could speak with her one last time.
“Mama didn’t tell you about me— let alone her pregnancy.” Mahiru walked to the photo and took it into her hands. She looked over her shoulder to Touma and studied his expression. Whether he felt saddened by the statement or not, she couldn’t tell. Touma merely took a sip of his drink and continued flipping through his work.
He only looked up when she sat across the table from him. His eyes were on the picture though. Touma didn’t say a word so Mahiru continued. “I read Mama’s research paper on the Servamps and Jinn. She wrote about you in a few of her notes. She called you intelligent and driven. Though, she didn’t write about your private research so she probably didn’t know about that. I doubt she's the type to be blind to your faults just for love.”
“The same way you love Kuro despite how lazy he is? When I spoke with your uncle about that, Toru reassured me that he’s a good man. However, even he worries that Kuro will push all the chores onto you.”
"Kuro isn’t that lazy. I won’t let you talk poorly about my boyfriend." Mahiru was surprised that Touma had spoken to her uncle about Kuro. She didn’t expect him to care enough when he never made an attempt to be a father.
Then, she heard him mutter: “You’re a lot like your mother. You didn’t inherit anything from me. That’s good.”
Mahiru forced herself to swallow her pride and placed the picture of her mother between them. “Mama never told you about being pregnant because she wasn’t certain if you were ready to be a father. Maybe there were other reasons. Do you think that she was also scared to be a mother? Did she talk to you about not wanting a family? Mama couldn’t talk to me or Uncle Toru about those thoughts but she could with you.”
“If she did ask me about children and the possibility of a family, I would’ve realized that you were my daughter much sooner. She broke up with me and she needed to focus on her own Jinn research. I took her words at face value and never looked deeper into it. She started working from home more and she refused to bring you close to C3. I never met you while she was still alive.” He held up his empty hands. For a moment, Mahiru thought she heard regret in Touma’s voice.
“So, you really can’t tell me how Mama felt when she was carrying me.” Mahiru bit her lip.
“Why the sudden interest in my relationship with your mother and your birth? Are you pregnant too?” Touma made the quip expecting Mahiru to snap back at him. Instead, silence filled the room and made the air thick. The realization slowly dawned on him after he saw her face pale. He reached towards his phone on the table. “I’ll call your uncle and tell him to come home immediately to speak with you.”
“Mama didn’t tell Uncle Toru about her pregnancy either! The little he knew was from her diary and even that was vague. What can he tell me that you didn’t already say?” Mahiru slammed her hand on the table and the force rattled the wood. Touma’s hand froze over his phone and he wished that Toru was home. He didn’t know how to comfort his own daughter. She hugged her stomach and lowered her head. “I just want to talk to Mama.”
“Akira used to lecture me about how I raised Tsurugi.” That was the first time Touma spoke Akira’s name in their conversation. Touma realized that he hadn’t been able to say it in decades. He needed to build walls around himself and detach from people for the sake of his goal. Akira and Tsurugi came the closest to saving him from himself. He regretted he didn’t realize how important they were sooner.
He took a blank sheet of paper from his folder and began to scribble a few sentences. “If you want the parenting advice she gave me, I can write them down for you. Your friends often joke that you mother everyone. You don’t need to be afraid of being a good mother, Mahiru.”
“Mothering people? That was just me playing at being a hero. You said so yourself. What do I know about being a parent? Mama died when I was five years old and you weren’t there from the start. Uncle Toru was always working. I don’t know if I can do this!” Mahiru’s voice rose and shook with each word. She didn’t understand how her yells managed to pass the lump in her throat.
The fears and emotions that she felt after she saw the positive pregnancy test came flooding out of her. Tears fell onto her mother’s photo and Mahiru desperately tried to wipe them clean. “Kuro told me that he loved me. But he might change his mind if I’m a bad mother. What if he doesn’t think he’s ready to be a father like me and resents me? Did Mama feel like this too?”
No matter how much Mahiru tried, she couldn’t stop her tears. The only thing she could do was lower her face onto the table and bury her face into her hands. Mahiru missed her mother more than words could convey. She had the impossible wish of feeling her mother’s comforting hug one last time and to ask her for advice for her pregnancy. All the things that she would have shared with her mother filled her with longing and regret.
Then, she felt Touma’s hand on her hair. He lightly patted her head as if she were a child again. “When I went into my neighbour’s house to rescue Tsurugi, I didn’t know if I was ready to take care of a kid. I was scared. I read books on how to raise a child to prepare myself. However, the first night, I was utterly lost. I didn’t have anyone to rely on to help raise Tsurugi. You have Kuro, your uncle and friends. If I can manage raising Tsurugi, you will be a good mother. Akira would be proud of the person you grew up to be, Mahiru.”
“I wish Mama was here.” Mahiru took a deep breath. Her heart still ached and felt uneasy with doubt. Though, Touma’s words were a little reassuring to her.
“If you don’t want a kid and you’re not ready, you can get an abortion without anyone knowing or give it away,” Touma suggested. “I won’t tell anyone about it.”
“Don’t talk about my daughter like that. I don’t know if I’ll be a perfect mother but I love my child.” Mahiru hugged her stomach protectively.
While she glared daggers at him, he didn’t flinch back from her. Touma patted her head one final time and then stepped back. “I only suggested it to see what your first response will be. You already have the protective instinct of a mother lion. You’re just like Akira.”
Tumblr media
“I’m home!” Mahiru called into the house when she returned. After her talk with Touma, her uncle came home. She lost track of time speaking with Toru. She didn’t tell him about her pregnancy though. She wanted the next person she told to be Kuro. During her walk back, she planned the different ways she could tell him.
Kuro didn’t greet her as he usually would. She hoped that he didn’t get worried and went out to search for her. Mahiru took out her phone to see if he texted her. When she stepped through the foyer, she found her answer.
In the living room, Kuro slept on the couch. A simple tray of food sat on the coffee table: two plates of her favourite hamburgers. Mahiru knew that he had cooked it to make her feel better. The meat patty was misshapen but the sight still made a spiral spread across her face. She sat next to him and lightly kissed his cheek.
Mahiru was careful not to wake him as she whispered, “Thank you, Kuro. You’re going to be a great father. But I'll have to teach you how to cook for our child.”

Ani-tachi no Aisarete, Korosarete - By Tooyama ema (7.5/10)
Tumblr media
I love it when polyamory gets representation, but this is trash. 100% incest adjacent but-we're-not-blood -related-garbage. The absolutely nutty plot is jammed into four chapters, and the ending is rather obvious. Also. Every single male character in this story is obsessed with the same girl. I would love to see yandere polyamory, but this ain't it.
Mahiru is kind of a freak. She knows her brothers obsess over her and she kinda likes it. She is twenty now though, and she would like to be more independent.
Tumblr media
All three brothers are yanderes, but the writing is almost unbearably bad. There's no buildup whatsoever. They also call her their sister while they say sexual things about her. Also the three brothers are twenty six, and she's twenty. Their parents died a long time ago, so she was raised by these men. It kinda...feels like they have been grooming her because they want her to be their shared wife.
Tumblr media
The three brothers are identical, so they have slightly different hairstyles. Even Mahiru has trouble telling them apart, so you know the drill. One is blond. One has black hair and one has long hair.
Tumblr media
All of them are also creepers in a different ways. Shinya obsesses over her health, and he controls what she eats. Yuuto takes care of her appearance. He buys all of her clothes. The third brother seems to be in charge of dazzling Mahiru. Asahi is the richest of the three, because he's an actor. He drives Mahiru everywhere in his sports car, and he makes sure that she's too spoiled to live on her own.
Tumblr media
It's very nice to see a yandere united front, but again the writing is bad. I cannot stress this enough. So much potential was wasted it's unreal. Anyway, Mahiru goes to her generic university to ponder about her brothers. She doesn't find normal men attractive, because her doting brothers are too perfect. No normal man is capable of spoiling her the way they do. She's also a little obsessed with them, but she seems more normal than them...at first.
Tumblr media
Grandpa dies.
Fuck grandpa.
Grandpa is the most fucked up character in this story by far. He leaves behind a doozy of a will, which makes Mahiru's life more even complicated.
Tumblr media
Here's the deal. Grandpa left a 15 billion dollar fortune behind. He was an asshole to Mahiru's parents, but he repented on his deathbed. He regretted his behaviour, so...he says he'd love to give his fortune to Mahiru...but it's not traditional for the family money to go to a women...when there are male heirs running around. Grandpa says that the man who marries Mahiru gets the money. Also the fucked up bastard says the man that murders Mahiru can also get the money. At first we don't know why this was included...but duh...there's a secret fourth brother that wasn't included in the happy family...and he would never marry Mahiru. Plus he's jealous enough to kill her.
The game begins.
Tumblr media
Nobody knows about the fourth brother (who actually is blood related) at this point. The triplets reassurance Mahiru. Frankly, they don't need the money. She doesn't have to worry about the inheritance. Her parents left her plenty of money. The whole family is kinda rich as fuck. They tell her not to worry about Grandpa's bullshit.
Tumblr media
Shit hits the fan. She almost gets murdered by a guy in black, and a guy in white makes out with her (with tongue). It's dark so she can't identify either man, but Miharu isn't brain dead. She assumes that one of her brothers wants to marry her. She feels betrayed because she thinks another brother wants to kill her off for cash....
None of them want her dead. The phantom kisser is actually the three of them taking turns, because they want her to marry one or all of them??? Worst seduction tactic ever what the heck...
The black hoodie culprit is someone else.
Mahiru gets a DNA sample from the culprit, and she brings it to her brothers middle school friend Shougo. Shougo is also a doctor, who can test the hair sample and help her out. Unfortunately Shougo is also the secret fourth brother, and he's the only brother who is actually related to her. Nonsense happens. The whole murder attempt thing is resolved for no reason. There's a pretty lackluster action scene for one page, but then we skip to the real plot twist.
Tumblr media
We get little hints at this, but yeah it's an ok ending. Mahiru's brothers thought she would choose one of them, but she loves being pampered and loved. After Shougo leaves the house she proposes to all three brothers. Then boom the last page is her being smug because this is what she wanted all along. She was just acting sweet. She didn't want independence. She wants to be obsessed over.
Hooray for consent kinda I guess...

Info on Milgram families
Haruka: Mom, possibly had a sibling. His mother is clearly very neglectful and abusive, but was kinder to Haruka in his early childhood, leaving him with all his Issues today. His dad left when he was young, and Haruka implies it’s either something to do with him or that Haruka blames himself for it, though she still considers his father family. Lists no siblings as his family, but it’s a common theory that he may have had a sibling he killed. Either way, he’s an only child now and has some MAJOR issues with his parents. Says he loves his parents, but it’s pretty obvious it’s not a two-way love. There’s a lot to say about his family in particular since it’s so important to his murder
Yuno: Mom and younger brother named Yura, along with her grandma and grandpa listed as family. Her father left her when she was young, so Yuno has no memories of him. Loves her family and wants to see them again and seems especially close with Yura, who she shows off cats cradle tricks to
Fuuta: Mom, dad and older sister. His parents are divorced and he hasn’t seen his mom since said divorce, while his dad is a “weak, pathetic fogey”. He lists only his father and sister as family, but when asked who he’d like to see, picks his mom. His dad is a civil worker and his sister is a beautician, though he doesn’t know what his mom does
Mu: Mom and dad, only child. Her parents are rich, her dad a landlord / furniture importer and her mom a former model. She’s clearly quite close with her parents, repeatedly saying how much she misses them and how she loves them, along with calling them both kind cool and beautiful and saying her ideal type of man is like her dad (??????). Her mother is French and father Japanese. Her parents have almost certainly spoiled her, but considering how highly Mu speaks of them, it raises the question as to why she didn’t (or couldn’t, or did and failed) reach out them to stop the bullying
Shidou: Unknown? Lists his family as something he treasures, but also states there’s nobody he’d leave behind if he died. He considering having a loved one die more painful than death and when asked who he could bring back to life says he couldn’t chose. Whether or not the person he was trying to save was a spouse, blood relative or something else, it’s possible he’s had more than one loved one die
Mahiru: Unknown, but her answer to someone she could confide to is the worker at a beauty salon she goes to rather than a friend or family
Kazui: Well, he had a wife
Amane: Mom, dad, to an extent her cult. She admires her father, who has been away on some kind mission (likely a religious one), which Amane sees as something honorable. She wants to see him so she can be praised. Amane says her parents must be proud of her because she’s such a “good girl”. There’s also the four figures in Magic - Gachata, Yuri, Gozake, Riyone - that she interacts with (and that abuse her), but it’s unclear who exactly they are in relation to Amane other than fellow cult members
Mikoto: Mom and little sister, parents are divorced and no mention further of father. His sister is in high school and he describes her as brilliant. Says he gets along with his mother, that she raised him and he doesn’t want to worry her
Kotoko: Mom, dad, older brother and grandma. No further information to my knowledge

deleted MV scenes!
I'M FINALLY DONE WITH THESE DJSJKDKD
anyway, this is just a collection of scenes and concepts and themes that were originally supposed to appear in some prisoners' t2 mvs, but for one reason or another i've ended up not going with them. perhaps i will add one or two of these into their future mvs, who knows!
- One of the first ideas I had about Akio's MV was adding some chess motifs and there was supposed to be a scene with Akio and Arata playing chess together, Akio losing to him and Arata opening his mouth and revealing that one of the pieces was on his tongue. Yes, it was basically a "smart kid not understanding how he's losing to me and me who's been eating his pieces when he wasn't looking". And now it's possible that Deep Cover will have a chess theme. Canongram stop stealing my ideas!! /j
- Fun fact: that scene was deleted not only because I don't know anything about chess, but also because Arata was supposed to be shown in a very sympathetic way, explaining Akio's obsession with him. His true colors will be shown in Akio's T3 MV though.
- I also had a thought about adding a scene where when Akio's getting hanged, MV focuses on Akio's neck and then the video suddenly cuts to Chise's neck and shows that even though both of them died the same way, Chise has noticeable red marks on his neck, implying that the murder methods were actually a bit different.
- Shun's MV had a huge number of different concepts, for example, I was thinking of his MV having a royal theme, but that concept was abandoned after I finished writing Akio's MV and also I thought of his MV having a casino theme? I will not elaborate. I also really wanted his MV to have a wedding theme, but then Mahiru's album cover was revealed and I got scared that his MV will be too similar to hers, so I changed it. But Mahiru's MV theme turned out to be different, so I can already say that another prisoner will most likely get a MV with a wedding scene in season 3.
- Some examples of deleted scenes from the wedding MV: There were several wedding cakes, but all of them looked different and had different decorations (I forgot what they're called..) and if you looked closer, you could notice that next to the small figure of Shun, the small figures of brides were all different. Shun was also supposed to propose to his "ex" and it looked all cute and romantic in his head, but in reality Hina looked at him with disgust and fear and rejected him.
- In the end, Shun was supposed to be shown sitting and watching TV with Kei, who looked like he was about to cry while Shun held his hand and smiled.
- I had a LOT of concepts for Kei's MV in mind, and before I started writing Naomi's MV, I was thinking of giving him a "devil form" or a scene that takes place in hell instead of Naomi. But I thought that would be too obvious or predictable for someone like him and instead gave it to Naomi.
- There was also a possibility of Kei getting a MV with an art theme, but I thought it would be too similar to Aimi's T1 MV. The MV was also supposed to show Kei painting a portrait of Ruka.
- Kei's "almost final" MV was supposed to start like this: everything is completely black and then we see a coffin the same color as Kei's image color and there's a spider web drawn on it and we see Ruka walking closer to it and opening it. Kei is asleep and then Ruka kisses him and forcefully drags him out of it. It was supposed to mean that not only Kei helps Ruka feel "more alive", it's the same for Ruka helping Kei and it also was supposed to be a reference to Snow White. Why Snow White? It's up to you to figure out :)
- Kei's almost final MV was supposed to reveal a lot about his past, but then I was like "We don't even know a lot about his crime. Why should I reveal his backstory here".
- For example, Kei's younger version was supposed to be shown and he was supposed to follow older Kei around and find his current lifestyle shocking meanwhile older Kei found his younger version embarrassing.
- There was also a scene of Kei getting cannibalized by the women he killed and the lyrics referenced his VD title and him existing only for others' entertainment.
- The first concept I had in mind for Eiko's MV was her going on a date with Takeru, but since he lied to her and pretended to be someone else and she didn't even know what he looked like, he would change his appearance every few seconds and in the end Eiko was supposed to "take off his mask" and reveal that Takeru was a corpse all this time. Shun's MV ended up having a similar scene instead, with him talking to Hina and her boyfriend even though both of them are dead.
- Asahi and Yurika's MV concepts didn't change much, but I just find it interesting how Kei saw what those women did to him as actual cannibalism meanwhile Yurika, despite her theme and her MV's aesthetic, still saw a lot of the scary things as candy, chocolate and all that stuff. Kinda reminds me that she's still very young even if she's legally an adult and how her parents forced her to live alone hoping that she would become more mature..
- There was also a scene with Asahi going full John mode and breaking everything with a bat, showing how he doesn't care about the things Satsuki buys for him.
- Riku had a completely different MV concept at first. Yes, he was still supposed to be a famous musician, but most of the MV was supposed to take place at this really cool house and Riku was supposed to be shown as someone who lives a very comfortable life, someone who's both rich and talented, but overall feels empty on the inside. There was also a scene with his friend's ghost haunting the place where he lives.
- In the end Riku and Yue were supposed to fall together from the roof of an insanely high building and Riku would be shown as the only survivor and everyone would ignore Yue's body. Riku was supposed to look at his body with disgust and turn back to his friends and fans while wearing a suit covered in Yue's blood and the last scene would reveal that Riku is missing a shoe.
- I also wanted Riku's MV to have a vampire theme, as a reference to Riku and Yue's relationship, with both of them drinking each other's blood even though it hurts them and they need human blood and not the blood of another vampire. But then I read what I wrote again and went ".. No, I won't be able to continue saying that Riku and Yue's relationship was platonic after this".

Hi and welcome to cherens trial 2 mappi mv analysis because im still going insane.
2 things from the beginning: So, why the carousel and where's the cage?
For the cage disappearing, I myself can only see one meaning for that: We know that the cage is fully present on trial one through basically the whole mv. I saw many people saying that cage is basically Mahirus relationship during trial 1, but now i think we have to change it onto something else: Mahirus brain trying to protect her from the reality of her love. Notice how in the trial 2 mv we are still basically in the same place as trial 1 with the sofa and the table, however, with the cage fully gone and we get to see the "reality" of their love through the mv. Mahirus brain stopped protecting itself and started being honest with her.
Why a carousel? Well. There is a somewhat common troupe known as the carousel of life. Carousels never stop moving and continue to go round and round, even if on a circle. Through the mv, this is basically meant to represent both Mahirus life and love (after all, the two are basically connected for her). It also matches well into her whole lovey dovey themes since it is one of the usually seen as romantic rides on amusement parks.
Now. Let's go.
Tumblr media
From the beginning, we already have that "reality" of Mahirus brain. Through this I'll use two terms: real world and "love lenses" (these referring to Mahirus idealized views on things, where her brain tricks her). There is no beating around it, everything is bleak and dark with the carousel broken and Mahiru herself is holding it. We saw from the beginning her boyfriend was already dead and hanging on that carousel, so now Mahiru holds her life on standstill. Not anyone else but her. Mahiru fully recognizes with this that she is the one at fault for his death even if indirectly, since this means she is now aware that her life (and love) came into a standstill thanks to her and her alone.
Another theming common through the mv is feeding. Also seen as basically a demonstration of love. There is a line on that beginning that says that she has "no appetite", meaning from trial 2 Mahiru basically lost that driving need for love she had. She still wishes for it, yes, but she feels that she doesn't need it anymore... However, on the official english translation it's interesting to note that it doesn't refer to her alone, it just says 'no appetite', which could also refer to her boyfriend not being hungry... So, he "not needing the food", not needing her love anymore.
The sofa is still there but destroyed and we see Mahiru looking at it sadly (after all, it was in perfect state on trial 1) but, as soon as Mahiru lays down in it all by herself, the song quickly shifts as the love lenses start to work in her brain. Her boyfriend is magically there, with confetti and all, almost like a surprise, and everything is colorful and happy.
Tumblr media
Note her own face of surprise even. Mahiru wasn't expecting this, she was basically ready to accept he had died and it was her fault, after all, the literal beginning of the mv showed his body hanging but, the moment she lays down, her brain starts to trick her. Mahiru instantly clutches onto him, wanting to believe that he isn't gone, that he's there with her, that everything is fine. She still wants that love after all. The cake imagery begins there, with him feeding her cake, a pretty direct metaphor for their love. With the dreamy lenses still on, we can see that it's meant to be a cake in Mahirus idealized brain, but we later get to know what it truly is meant to be in the 'real world'. It's also interesting to note that, the moment this shift happens, the song also changes to something that's also EXTREMELY more reminiscent of her trial 1 song, with the same chirpy pop tune and her high pitched vocals instead of the instrumentals and vocals she kept on the real life part. This is also direct proof her brain is trying to trick her into believing it's all perfect, just like in trial 1.
Tumblr media
One thing to note too is that the carousel was already stopped in these lenses. They're fully static even if she is with him, almost as if reminding Mahiru that, even if they are together, their life is not moving on. That their relationship is not progressing, even if that is what she wants.
Tumblr media
It's why, one second after that, we see Mahiru pulling him to the carousel. Mahiru wants their life and relationship to continue onto something greater! She wants them to progress! She wants more than just that, which we know since it is said she trained to be a housewife. She wants them to progress onto something more serious... But that wasn't something he wanted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mahirus dreamy lenses are still on for that part and yes, the carousel started moving! Their relationship is starting to move forward! However, one moment after that, we get to see it as it was in the real life and we can clearly see that, even if both his and her clothes are ragged and battered, shown how their relationship by then was already declining, Mahiru continued to smile believing it was all going to solve itself soon, after all, they were moving onto something greater! However, her boyfriend is clearly tired and not happy with that arrangement. They're in the forest where he died and, even if they're not in that dreamy world anymore, the carousel, their life, continues to move.
They're seen walking together on that forest as a symbolism of them progressing to their future, but then we notice him falling down to his knees during that walk and scratching the dirt while looking up at Mahiru, so in a way of putting an end to this progress, to where they were heading. This is the last part we get to see his eyes on the mv by the way, and after that they're always blacked out. Aka. This is the exact part he had already killed himself.
Tumblr media
Mahirus love lenses still can't let her process that, with her brain making her think that there is just something wrong on their relationship that she can fix, so, doing the one way we were shown in this mv to demonstrate love and it worked on her: Mahiru starts feeding him her love.
Tumblr media
But isn't he already dead? Indeed. Mahiru continued nurturing that love and feeding it to him even if he is already dead, idolizing it and clinging onto it and that idealized version of it to tell herself it was alright, even if right after we get to see what she was "truly" feeding him in the real life...
Tumblr media
The rats. This also means that, since the beginning (after all, these love lenses were active already in the part where he feeds her) their love wasn't fully healthy at all and she wasn't abusive, instead, she was just doing what he did to her too: feeding him her love. Even if he is already dead, Mahiru continued feeding him that love of hers.
Tumblr media
Right after that feeding part, we cut to a broken carousel continuing to go around. So Mahirus life continues to move on just as her love for him, with her mind keeping that love until the end... Until the imagery of him hanging on the carousel appears and it fully stops and hits and end, Mahirus brain finally bringing the acceptation that he is dead and, after his death, the carousel, love and life of her, stopped and shouldn't/can't continue going to go around.
Tldr i want to get mahiru a therapist

in honor of deep cover tomorrow here are my milgram survivability rankings going into round 3:
haruka: 0/10. sorry buddy. if anyone is dying (which they almost certainly are) it's gonna be our favourite blue boy. i trust him to carry out his threat, and i think anyone who has any possibility of stopping him is too busy with their own nonsense. who's going to stop him?? mu?? rip.
yuno 10/10. yuno is probably the only person who has gone through milgram and (as of now) come out fine. she needs therapy as much as anyone else for her intimacy issues but those issues are making her pursue unhealthy venues of affection instead of, say, tearing away her very basis for living and denying her personhood. also her third verdict is almost certainly going to be innocent. i'd be really surprised if anything happens to her.
muu: 3/10. i'm really unsure about how muu's going to be doing. my first instinct was that she's going to survive no matter what comes her way because she's the queen!! she can deal with anything!! but then i gave the subtext of afterpain some more thought and... she was most likely actively suicidal as a result of that situation, which is behaviour she might return to if she falls back into that headspace. i'm just not sure how badly she's going to take her verdict, especially with her only support system (haruka) out of the picture. worst case scenario, she dies. even if she survives, she won't be doing well.
mahiru: 8/10 mahiru is also pretty hard to judge, because i don't know how she's going to take her verdict. or, being more precise, how far she's going to take it, because i'm pretty sure she's going to take the innocent as confirmation that she was right all along and Love Wins and her worldview is healthy and correct, actually. obviously not a healthy mindset, but arguably not one that's detrimental to her immediate survival, at least. her status should also be pretty tied to shidou's considering the severity of her injuries, so her rating goes down to a 2/10 if he's taken out.
kazui: 10/10 i'm going to continue the trend of comparing kazui with yuno in that both of them have made it through milgram largely unscathed and will continue to do so. unlike her, he will probably be involved in any physical altercations in the prison, but i really doubt any of the other prisoners will be capable of harming him in any way that matters. (physically at least. i hope yuno keeps owning him every chance she gets). tangentially, i also think it's possible to read romantic connotations onto his interactions with shidou?? i would be interested to see if that persists, and how it plays out. this section just turned into the kazui gossip corner orz. sorry.
mikoto/john: 10/10 and 0/10 (but not necessarily in that order). please excuse my inexpertise with this terminology. so the system's body is definitely making it out of this intact. john is seeing to that, and mikoto's isolation is kind of a blessing in disguise because the other prisoners are going to leave him alone and out of any interpersonal conflict. however, according to the rules milgram has imposed (the project, not the prison) either mikoto or john will be 'dying'. i think the third verdict will determine that; innocent and mikoto lives, guilty and john lives. of course, whoever makes it is going to be intensely affected and traumatized by milgram; those interrogation questions are looking rough. i miss shidou's little drawings.
THE BATTLE ROYALE SECTION
so the defining conflict in milgram round 2 was definitely kotoko vs. the guilty prisoners. going off of the interrogations and timelines thus far, i think round 3's central conflict will be prisoners vs. es, and by extension milgram itself.
amane: 10/10. i think amane is going to be the figure a lot of this conflict centers around. she's stated direct opposition to es and milgram, knows the truth about us, and has threatened one of her fellow prisoners. add in the innocent verdict and i definitely think that she is not going to spend the time between trials idly. despite her position as an agitator, i don't think she's going to face any real danger for now. shidou and kazui, her only active opponents, are both against child murder (a high bar in milgram) and i don't think they want to see her hurt. also purge march just reached 4.3M views so she's fine on a meta level lol.
fuuta: 7/10. ah fuuta. what an absolute wet cat of a man. fuuta is almost definitely in the amane camp (cult?) going from the timelines, and i think he will take action with her. any danger posed to himself, will be, then, all his own stupid fault. however, i don't think his addition to her faction adds any substantial danger to their opposition apart from a numbers advantage? fuuta is a half-blind gamer who will be actively neglecting proper medical care for his multiple fractures. i do think he's in more danger than amane purely because i don't think kazui and shidou will have as many reservations about harming him in the course of proper self-defense.
shidou: 6/10. i would like to say shidou will be fine, but i think that's a fast judgement to make regarding how little we know of the situation in milgram. he is the only prisoner who has had a direct threat against his life made. also, while he has gained new (and incredibly unhealthy) purpose for living by helping the injured, he does have a massive guilt complex about the death of his children. part of him might still see being killed by a child as proper atonement. obviously, he could take amane one-on-one. he could probably even deal with amane and fuuta at once. with kazui backing him, he's coming out of any straight-forward assault okay. but i just don't know how amane is going to approach this. can she set traps? can she poison him? can she catch him alone? on a meta level, would it be more engaging to have amane commit another murder and the prisoners lose their doctor? i'm bumping him down just because of these possibilities.
kotoko: 10/10. kotoko will be fine. she has no intent of harming herself, and i don't think kazui or john are going to want to pick a fight. i will say that i think a guilty verdict (which she will almost certainly be receiving) is the best thing for her to keep the peace at this stage. we are now going to enter the wild speculation zone.
i think kotoko has a strong chance of joining amane's faction- not out of religious zealotry, but out of opposition to milgram's judgements. she very much wants to tear the system down and then reshape it in her image, and i think that her desire aligns with amane there, as amane herself stated in her round one voice drama. that's why i think the guilty verdict is ideal - if kotoko is found innocent, she could join in on the attack against shidou. with her distracting kazui, fuuta and amane could have a chance of taking shidou down. this shouldn't happen if kotoko is restrained, so his survivability is much higher as of now. (otherwise i'd give him a 3/10). es had better watch out though.

Tumblr media
What a weird day you were having, first you ended up on this weird island, second you saw all these random kids around these islands, and a talking bear? a talking bunny? very weird / cool.
it’s not that you really cared anyways. other than all these questions that you got from everyone in the class. like, “how did you even get into here?” “what’s your talent?” “what’s with you and sandwiches?” “are you sure that you don’t need any help?” questions that you can answer, other than the “what’s your talent” question. which to answer to all of that is a sandwich slapped to their face and you running off while they wonder what just happened.
( actual answer: you sneaked in to “hope’s peak” for fun + kotoko and you thought it would be fun to see what’s in a “big kids” school for a second. ) also, your just a random elementary student who just loves likes sandwiches for some reason.
for trials, you…slept like it was nap time back when you were in preschool. sure, it would of been more sad if you genuinely knew/or cared. about these people. so let’s say if you did, (found some of them very cool, which lets be real, you probably did.) You would probably be a little bit of a help in the teruteru/byakuya case. but only really on the minor details, and not like. the “dead” body….
there was also that one time where Peko and Mahiru and it got Fuyuhiko hurt “disappeared” like Teruteru and “Byakuya”/ Imposter (basically everyone who had “died”, via Hajime trying to save you from not saying the truth until later. (which never happened because they were luckily alive at the end so he doesn’t have the say the “they ain’t coming back” talk.
for example from what hajime said to you when you asked him where did the ones who are “missing” : “Don’t worry [Name] they probably went out to go search for [People Who Are “Dead/Executed”, they will come back soon.”
“Coming Back Soon?, Missing? but aren’t they..”
“Going to take a while to come back to the island, yeah!”
“you seriously really need to say the truth to the kid…”
anyways, after the whole Peko and Mahiru going out to “search for the two also missing classmates.” you and the others came to see the injured fuyuhiko. he was acting more weirder than usually has been because he got hurt, from something. (the others didn’t explain well.)
Since he was so hurt, from something the others didn’t also explain so well, and he was facing the window, not talking to anyone. everyone decided to give him some rest and leave him alone. well other than you obviously.
you grabbed a plastic bag from your backpack full of random items and tried to give it to unresponsive fuyuhiko you guessed it! a damn sandwich. you don’t know why, but you just put it on the desk next to his bed after giving up to give it to him directly as you thought it was going to go.
and before you left the room, he said… “thanks.”
“…your welcome.”
you guys got along more after this and fuyuhikos apology during breakfast the other day.
he was more like a big brother figure to you from now on. (rip hajime.)
now then! he’s a summary of what happened next because I don’t feel like making this long enough to be an essay.
summary for the rest of chapter 3, 4, 5 of child readers journey through jabberwock island : you almost ended up getting killed by mikan for some reason, luckily you drop-kicked her before she could do anything. when you get into uh whatever that place where gundham and nekomaru (robot ver) disappear too, your backpack full of things like food sandwiches was taken by monokuma for a second…(you found it later.) post after the whole nekomaru being “missing” hajime keeps calling it, makes you wonder for a while. next island,, very explosive. nagito also goes as well for some reason and the chiaki,, eh tbh you really didn’t care at that point. you were said chiaki left. she was very nice and liked your sandwiches as well like fuyuhiko..
ah oh well. it was all just a game anyways!
wait what.
So uh, now your finally inside a school. it looks even more weirder than all of the bear dinosaurs blocking the paths to the other islands..they didn’t like your sandwiches sadly. well maybe because to tried to throw one at them to see if they would catch it like a puppy.
it’s creepy, and there is also a classroom you saw, well uh. trial time!
again, you were in the middle of sleeping. all they were talking about was almost kinda boring.
then you opened your eyes, almost instantly there were some random big girl with a flip phone of her…and random people that look like all of your “classmates” ages.
anyways blah blah blah, everyone feels down, chiaki saves the day for one last time, hope hope hope. 3d definitely not something that reminded you of all of those fashion games you would download on your family members phone goes down by that talking bunny (who you forgot exists.)
and after all the farewells. and goodbyes / see you laters.
you woken up, seeing most of the people who hajime said “disappeared”!!!!
you were happy, although you didn’t know most of them, they finally found each other, “why didn’t you guys come back tho, like hajime said?”
…hajime had a long talk with the others. with a lot of kazuichi’s “told you so” although to be honest, it’s kinda werid for the others as it’s usually hajime being the one saying “told you so.”
oh well.. what a journey…a very weird one.
Tumblr media
I apologize for the ooc too + kinda lazy too,, I made this at 11 - 1 am in the night,, I should probably be sleeping too but it’s been a while since I posted + almost a year since the last imagine about nagito and the ghost. (This being due to my danganronpa phase fading away.) (also like my last post said, who knows, I’ll probably make another blog or make this blog into another fandom fanfic spot.)
thank you for reading anyways! :D

im back thinking again. regarding my last post with how i interpreted ibuki and fuyuhiko's friendship im heavily thinking abt him and hiyoko. hiyoko more specifically tbh. its hiyoko appreciation time. will contain spoilers
imo she should have lived. also tbh kazuichi shouldve died, not her. thats a whole other sauce tho (again) but like. i feel like hiyoko deserved to survive way more, in general. her potential was really there man
i used to hate hiyoko, i still kind of dislike her in a certain way but its because all of that points blame to the writers of sdr2, for the god awful pacing they thought was good, and how they just didn't really bother to show a lot of growth from her before her time was wrapped up? i enjoy how she was the mean character bc there's always gotta be That One Bitch, but i really would've loved for her to survive, for her to heal and live on for mahiru and even to grow close with fuyuhiko, ibuki, hajime and sonia, and she would perhaps even express sadness towards ibuki and mikan's deaths
its like everything that had happened in the game, and all the time they spent focused on hiyoko and what she was going through just went to waste, and they spent the rest on weaker material or scenes. hiyoko should have been given the same character arc fuyuhiko lived to see. and both of them have so much in common already, they'd make a pretty good duo. e.g., they both lost someone they loved (mahiru & peko), they're both mean, stubborn, and quippy but secretly soft around the right people, also hello they literally look related anyway ... the blonde hair and the rosy cheeks . come on. someone on spike chunsoft saw them. but it didnt work out. anyway i feel like they would bond amazingly, albeit very slowly, but they're definitely the duo to just gossip all the time about other people LOL, and fuyuhiko would try to comfort her as well, because he's lost two people
hiyoko wouldn't just easily forgive him of course, i dont think she ever could, hence why i emphasized they'd slowly bond because the tension would be agonizing. she was furious, and still mourning mahiru when she had just died, but she would at least understand him and grow to accept his company and genuine kindness overtime (and she had almost seemed to near the very end??). if she lived to see his genuine growth and saw that he actually cared and that he would do anything to make it up to her, she'd be way less cautious of him. and she'd realize that the fact that they're both stuck on an island in a killing game, and fuyuhiko genuinely seems to be the only one who seems to bother, and the only one who actually sees her. so if not him, who else does she really have, you know. at least, at that moment
afterwards, hiyoko would just calm down and be more cooperative and helpful overtime, she's not dumb at all and she knows what to say, though she might butt her head in at the worst times, she also doesn't put up with bullshit, the same way sonia doesn't, they both act thoroughly bc they're smart. she'd also be really helpful in the trials tbh, i think she'd be the kind to spot out little details
later on she'd have sonia and hajime to support her too! someone has to help her with her kimono.... fuck it they'd all collectively just tolerate her but also encourage her. compared to fuyuhiko she hadn't really done anything bad, she was just hurt. she just needs someone, now that her own someone was gone
of course id love if she stayed hotheaded but just not call everyone a skank or a pig every two seconds, keep her mean side i love a bad bitch, she just wouldn't have kept that mask up, and she'd learn like, "Oh Shit, these people are all i have, and i need them". if she stuck around, hiyoko wouldve been such a good help as a survivor. and just generally more interesting to see, she woulda stuck out to me more in general. wouldve LOVED to see her shine in chapter three, or the final two chapters
hiyoko fans please rise with me. i love her and her dumb pigtails. tldr im MAD she didn't get her redemption like she deserved she was so cool despite also being nasty but she had a CHANCE dude the potential was shining bright in front of our eyes
