Greetings dearest ones,
This month is going to be a lot harder to swing financially. The biggest concern at the moment is that I am about to run out of medical marijuana (today) during the worst gastrointestinal illness of my life, which is kind of an emergency given it is the only thing that actually relieves the symptoms.
Tyrell just bought me $120′s worth three weeks ago, and today she paid my $80 primary care doctor bill, so I don’t think she can buy me more. I will also need to figure out how to acquire funds for my phone bill, prescription, and dog food this month 😬🥴 So any little bit will help so much.

Did you know that cannabis has become significantly more potent over the years? Nowadays, it’s common to find strains that exceed the 20% THC limit. As the levels of this cannabinoid keep increasing, keeping up with the most powerful strains can be a little tricky. That’s why we’ve created this list of the 10 varieties with the highest THC content that are currently available in our seed catalogue.
TLDR: first-time weed users should either vape or take an edible that contains single digits (under 10mg) of THC.
I put this in the tags of another post but this might save someone a Very Bad Time so,
Heya there, friendos!
Want to try the devil's lettuce for the first time, but thinking that smoking it sounds hard so you're gonna take an edible?
Well that's just keen!
But remember: the first time you take edibles, you need to check the THC content (if something is made from weed and can get you high, it contains THC), and make sure it is in SINGLE DIGITS per serving of edible.
Did you hear me?? Single. Digits. Under 10. The numbers 1 through 9.
I mean it. If you're looking at packaging like, "hmmmm - is 20mg or 70mg a lot?" YOU ARE ALREADY WRONG BECAUSE THAT IS ONE MORE DIGIT THAN YOU NEED, MY FRIEND. If you remember nothing else from this, just remember single digits.
(Also if you don't have a weed tolerance - which takes weeks of regular use to build up and just means you need to pay more money to get high so it is NOT an aspirational thing - 20mg will fuck you up in a bad dizzy not-fun scary way. And 70mg will ruin your week and probably weed as a whole forever and also possibly be so upsetting it becomes an actual traumatic experience. An overdose of marijuana cannot kill you and the only thing for it is to w, but it is extremely not fun.)
It is super common for people new to weed to buy like, a 100mg brownie and think those things are single serving. THEY ARE NOT SINGLE-SERVING AND THAT IS TWO DIGITS MORE THAN YOU WANT. And then they are calling 911 because they are having a weed-related panic attack. (Cameron Esposito has a great stand-up bit about a small town she visited in Arizona that ran into a problem right after weed was legalized because folks kept eating entire weed brownies and then calling the ER in a panic.)
SINGLE DIGITS.
So start with a 5mg piece and then wait like, 12 hours. Many edibles take hours to take effect, and it is SUPER common for newbies to take a second edible after waiting like an hour when the first hasn't even hit yet and then they both hit and that person has a bad night.
(And one time - only once - my girl and I took edibles that kicked in THE NEXT DAY. My girl was at work suddenly realized like, Oh No. She was fine, but holy shit! That is not a typical experience. But it gives an idea of the range that edibles can have.)
The second time you take edibles, if you enjoyed 5mg, you can take 10mg. Then the next time, take 15mg, and the time after that, take 20mg. From there you can probably increase by increments of 10mg. Which is what I do.
I am a big ol' stoner who has smoked more days than not for several years and I have a stupid tolerance. So I take 30mg as a baseline to even feel it. And like 60-70mg as an absolute maximum, depending on the edible. If it is a brand of edible I haven't had before - or an unlabeled batch of homemade cookies, etc. - then I skew low. I find that some edibles on 40mg are nothing to me and others send me to the moon at 40mg, so I am careful. Either way, I dearly miss my low tolerance.
And hey! Are you thinking 'wow all that sucks to keep track of,' then good news! Vape pens are simple/cheap to get and use and you will feel the effects of them within minutes or even in seconds, so it is WAY easier to tell how your body is reacting, and it will fade faster than an edible too, which is good if you don't know if you'll like it much yet. Take short puffs because it won't feel harsh in your throat until after you stop breathing in and then if you've sucked in too long, you'll cough so much it hurts the next day. It'll heal same as if you coughed a lot from anything else, but it sucks.
Everything I said about vapes also applies to smoking a little pinch of bud/flower/dried weed plant leaves in a pipe/bowl/bong, except newbies who don't smoke cigarettes will be more sensitive to the smoke and will cough way more than with a vape. I still often cough if I'm not careful.
I recommend against smoking a whole joint by yourself if you're new. They are a bitch to learn how to make and they require way more bud than a newbie should smoke in one go. Just start with a small cheap pipe. You don't need anything expensive to get started. I personally use something called a one-hitter, which is a ceramic piece that looks like a cigarette and was very cheap. It is only meant for one hit at a time and so it only holds a very small amount of weed and is very easy to pack and use.
Anyway, stay safe! Look out for each other! Don't pressure people to smoke/use weed if they don't want to! All cops are bastards! And remember, SINGLE. DIGITS.
Back to Bangkok: but this time something is different. These photos [Flickr album] were taken largely between Soi Cowboy and Sukhumvit Soi 11 last week.
I’m not sure how long this free-for-all situation will last, as restrictions and regulations are already being debated in the wings.
