Reading the KOTOR comics and it's quite poignant how Malak is this nice guy who helps out the heroes and has an unrequited crush on Jarael given that in the games he's this raging, broken monster of a Sith Lord who destroys planets by orbital bombardment. I can't help but wonder if maybe Jarael rejecting him (relatively nicely to be fair) was one of the things that propelled him towards the dark side. I guess the sad fact is Malak made his own choices and lost his life as a result. I still enjoyed seeing him as a good guy though.

Marn Hierogryph was a Snivvian criminal during the Mandolorian Wars. Circumstance ran him into trouble with the Jedi Order on Taris in the Outer Rim, where he was tracked down by Padawan Zayne Carrick. Hierogryph ended up accompanying Carrick on a series of adventures across the galaxy against the Mandolorians, Sith, and Dark Jedi. He was a talented liar, a bit of a megalomaniac, and loyal friend.

Star Wars Alien Species - Trandoshan
Trandoshans (who call themselves "Toshok") inhabit the jungle world of Trandosha. The reptilian Trandoshans are known for their great strength, and warlike natures. Many of these beings dedicate themselves to martial training, and some follow the path of the hunter on their native world. A few have even become renowned (Or infamous) bounty hunters in galactic society. Trandoshans have a long-standing enmity with Wookiees, and the two Species have fought often over the centuries.
Tumblr media
Trandoshans worshiped their goddess, the Scorekeeper (a deity who exists beyond time and space), whom they would appease through acts which increased their jagannath points. This was done by living a lifestyle which was, by non-Trandoshan standards, overtly aggressive, leading many Trandoshans to become bounty hunters, mercenaries, or slavers. Trandoshans especially prized Wookiee pelts, which consequently played a large part in earning jagannath points—capturing the pelts of rare Wookiee breeds (such as silverbacks) or particularly infamous Wookiees would give the hunter a large increase in jagganath points. To be shamed or captured during a hunt would zero one's jagganath points—effectively making their life forfeit in the eyes of the Scorekeeper. They could, however, win all those points back by killing the one who zeroed their score.
The lack of dexterity in their hands led the Trandoshans to develop the X10-D draft droid to perform manual labor. These could only be owned by those Trandoshans with a certain number of jagannath points.
Trandoshans were known to eat bowls of still live worms as a favorite meal. A traditional Trandoshan food was Trandoshani flatcake. They were known to have a lizard dance, of which Cradossk was familiar.
There were rare cases of Trandoshans not adhering to their millennia-old cultural traditions. One such was the mercenary and assassin Nakaron whose self-confidence caused him to disregard the Trandoshan class system, being rude and disrespectful towards the Elders of the Dosha city of Forak, this led to him being banned from that city, and subsequently more cities until he was virtually exiled from Dosha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Violent, brutal, and driven, Trandoshans love to compete but can show compassion and mercy as the situation warrants.
Tumblr media
The Trandoshans had their version of life debt. In the Trandoshan tradition of the life debt, the being to whom the debt was sworn was referred to as the Trandoshan's ghrakhowsk.
Marn Hierogryph became Slyssk's ghrakhowsk after pretending to save Slssyk's life by pushing him out of the way of a falling piece of machinery.
Trandoshans have smooth, scaly skin. Body types ranged from being tall and fairly gaunt, to being short and more rotund. They were powerful beings, and had long thin arms that ended in either three thick digits ( These were perfect for combat, but did not grant them manual dexterity, making a Trandoshan's finger movements somewhat clumsy and awkward. ), or four thin digits, including a thumb. Trandoshans had a pair of eyes set back on a pointed skull, and a jaw filled with pointed teeth. They hatched from eggs, with individuals who shared a hatch of eggs calling each other clutchmates.
Tumblr media
Trandoshans walked barefooted, and had feet with three digits each. A Trandoshan's skin color could vary wildly, and Trandoshans could be found with green, red, orange, brown, or yellow skin. Some Trandoshans, such as one named Smug, had brownish-orange skin with red stripes on his face. They were able to regrow their limbs if they were severed. Trandoshans used their sharp claws to climb tall trees in the forest or jungles they naturally inhabited.
Trandoshans range from 1.8 to 2.1 meters or 5.9 to 7 feet tall and weight 80 kilograms or 176 pounds.
Trandoshans age at the following stages:
1 - 11 Child
12 - 14 Young Adult
15 - 34 Adult
35 - 49 Middle Age
50 - 59 Old
Examples of Names: Bossk, Fusset, Krussk, Ssuurg, Tusserk, Dar, Garnac, Slyssk, Noka, Qyzen Fess.
Languages: Trandoshans speak, read, and write both Dosh and Basic.

In other SWTOR news I'll be on Star Forge after the server merge, but I do find the choice of the Hot Prospect as a server name hilarious.
Marn Hierogryph, its captain, is also hilarious. To wit:
"On Serroco, however, Hierogryph and Slyssk [...] only narrowly escaped the Mandalorian nuclear strike against that planet. In escaping, however, they inadvertently saved half a battalion of Republic soldiers. The Ministry of Defense, failing to recognize Hierogryph as a criminal and a fugitive, decided to build a propaganda story around the Snivvian and his Trandoshan, giving rise to the character of "Captain Benegryph Goodvalor," who in turn inspired holovids, restaurant chains, and assorted merchandise."
(Oh, Republic. Bless your heart.)

Note
You’re right. Mandalorians, for all their bravery and warrior culture, aren’t so bright in some areas. They probably didn’t even know about the Sith tricking Mandalore the Ultimate into declaring war on the Republic.
“You gotta love an elite killing force you can fool by putting on a hat.”
-Marn Hierogryph, Knights of the Old Republic.
Basically, they’re idiots.
Anyway, I don’t remember if they knew that the Sith goaded them into war. I think that was either mentioned by Canderous Ordo, or Kreia. If it’s the former, then Canderous at least knew.

Star Wars Alien Species - Stereb
The Stereb, primitive natives of Serroco. They built the Stereb cities and had low technology.
Tumblr media
Serroco was a muddy, rainy world located in the Serroco system of the Expansion Region's Ploo sector. The homeworld of the Stereb species, Serroco had an atmosphere that supported other sentient life forms, such as Humans. Expansive dirt fields could be found on the planet, with patches of trees and other plants. It rained frequently on Serroco, and bigger storms often broke out, with tornadoes sometimes posing a threat to the Stereb.
The planet had multiple continents and revolved around at least one star. Serroco's land appeared green from space, with oceans covering a large part of the planet's surface. The Mandalorian nuclear attack on Serroco during the Mandalorian Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Mandalorian warrior clans had a great impact on the planet's landscape—the world's Stereb cities were destroyed, leaving only glass craters
Tumblr media
By the time of the Mandalorian Wars, Serroco was a full member of the Galactic Republic, and Human settlers from the Republic had put down roots on one of Serroco's nicer continents. The Republic Navy maintained an orbital watchstation above the stormy planet, issuing tornado warnings to the Stereb, who were not adept with the technology themselves. However, some personnel stationed at the watchstation found it to be a boring posting and amused themselves by calling in fake tornado warnings during festivals, sporting events, and other gatherings, a practice that ended when Serroco's senator complained. Multiple Jedi were also regularly assigned to the planet—during the Mandalorian Wars, one of the Jedi on Serroco was the Human Meetra Surik. In 3963 BBY, the Mandalorian warrior clans advanced on Serroco from the planet Jebble—anticipating an attack, Admiral Saul Karath assembled Battle Group Serroco and set up a staging area on the planet, with encampments among the Stereb cities. The camps were home to a great number of Republic Navy personnel, in addition to fringers selling food and other services to the soldiers. Camp Three featured the extremely popular Little Bivoli mess ship, which was run by two fugitives: Zayne Carrick, a former Jedi Padawan falsely accused of murdering his entire class on Taris, and Marn Hierogryph, a petty criminal believed to be his accomplice. Despite being two of the most wanted beings in the Republic, Carrick and Hierogryph were able to evade notice right under the nose of Karath and his battle group.
Karath and his team thought they were completely ready for the Mandalorians—they figured that the Mandalorians would not dare to attack the Stereb cities directly, for fear of wrecking potential loot. Karath set up a massive cordon of ships surrounding the planet, hoping to stop the Mandalorians dead in their tracks. On the planet below, however, Carrick had a Force vision of the Mandalorians destroying the Stereb cities and annihilating the Republic camps, and he decided that he immediately needed to warn Karath. In a rush, Carrick stowed away on hotshot Republic pilot Carth Onasi's ship, the Deadweight, convincing Onasi of his seriousness and hitching a ride with him to Karath's bridge on the warship Courageous. There, Carrick was recognized as the so-called "Jedi killer" and accused of being a Mandalorian spy. His warnings went unheeded. Soon, a Mandalorian force came out of hyperspace at the edge of the system. Disgusted by the Republic's "dishonorable" tactic of placing its camps so close to the Stereb cities, the invaders started off the proceedings by firing off nuclear missiles—to Karath's surprise, the missiles angled around the Republic ships, heading toward the Serroco camps. As Karath did not expect this to happen, the camps' missile defense systems were not online, and the planet was left defenseless.
Tumblr media
Impacts were counted near twenty-seven populated areas. While the Human settlements sustained heavy damage, the Stereb cities were simply gone, turned into glass craters. Furthermore, only eight of the Republic ships on the surface escaped destruction, one of which carried the Jedi Knight Meetra Surik. Before the missiles were launched, Onasi had buzzed down tornado warnings to seventeen Stereb cities, hoping that their underground catacombs could protect them if Carrick's vision came true, an endeavor that saved many lives. Serroco was nearly annihilated, its surface covered in massive craters where once had been cities and settlements. The Republic immediately condemned the destruction of Serroco as a tragedy and a horrific crime, and the devastation was not soon forgotten. Republic propagandist "Benegryph Goodvalor" chose Serroco as the name of his imaginary warship in transmissions aimed at the Mandalorians, and the planet became the namesake of a real Republic ship by the time of the later Galactic War. "Goodvalor" was actually Marn Hierogryph, who, along with talented Trandoshan cook Slyssk, had narrowly escaped Serroco's destruction on a stolen troop transport, inadvertently saving half of a sleeping battalion. The Republic Defense Ministry turned the rescue into a propaganda story, with "Goodvalor" being feted as the "Hero of Serroco."
Life on Serroco still continued, and by the time of the Jedi Civil War several decades after the Mandalorian conflict, Serroco had a leader named Lelin-Dor, who was known as the First Patriarch. During the war, Revan, the Dark Lord of the Sith, had Lelin-Dor assassinated, believing him to be a destabilizing influence. By the time of the Cold War a few centuries later, a Republic military presence had been reestablished on Serroco. In that same time period, archaeologists discovered an intact Stereb shelter left over from the Battle of Serroco, containing many previously-lost Stereb artifacts. During the Imperial Period, thousands of years after the Battle of Serroco, there was still a small enclave of Stereb on the planet.
Tumblr media
Their mostly hairless bodies range from pale red to brown with reddish undertones. They have overly long arms and large hands and feet.
A typical Stereb stands at 2.2 meters or 7.2 feet tall and weighs 85 kilograms or 187 pounds.
Sterebs age at the following stages:
1 - 11 Child
12 - 16 Young Adult
17 - 49 Adult
50 - 76 Middle Age
77 - 89 Old
Examples of Names: Herdr'tui, Eldr'nol, Helr'ven. Stereb names include a Basic-sounding prefix relating to their function in the community (herdr means herder, eldr means elder, helr means healer, and so on)
Languages: Stereb speak Stereb. They are able mimics, and there are a number of Basic words in the Stereb language.
