list all your favorite things about zutara

first, lola i love you because i know you only asked this because you know how much i love zutara even though you don’t ship them or even know who they are, you have my whole heart

but honestly listing my favourite things about zutara could take fifty million words i don’t even know where to begin

i think the most compelling thing about them is how many parallels they share, their best scene is when they talk about their mothers and how they’ve lost them to the fire nation in the crystal catacombs, and they just immediately understand each other even after being enemies all !! that !! time !!!

they are enemies to friends to lovers excellence

and GOD the FACT that the only person we ever see touch zuko’s scar is katara, my heart !!!!! it’s so soft and how he closes his eyes and just sinks into her touch !! soulmate energy !!!!! and even though they were enemies katara still offered to heal his scar !! with the spirit water that she knew she could only use once ?????? 

and how BETRAYED she felt when he decided to side with azula instead, she had so much hope and trust in him even back then!

HE SAVED HER FROM FALLING ROCKS EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS SO FAR AWAY AND SUKI WAS RIGHT !! THERE !!!

ALSO HOW HARD DID ZUKO WORK TO GAIN HER FORGIVENESS AFTER HE JOINED THE GAANG? he literally stayed up all night waiting for her to offer his help instead of interrupting her sleep. and he understood that she needed closure, and was willing to help her achieve that. instead of telling her how she should be feeling, he just let her feel whatever it was she felt. and you know he wasn’t going to judge her for whatever she decided to do to yon rha, because that was her call to make and he understood that. GOSH just the absolute understanding and respect and trust those two have for each other, it’s unbelievable and it’s beautiful

AND THEIR HUG. “i am ready to forgive you” the soft smile. how she jumps into his arms and he freely accepts her despite being canonically uncomfortable with physical contact!! how they both just sink into the embrace. katara holding his waist with one hand, his shoulder with the other, and holding his gaze for a few seconds afterwards. zuko watching her walk away with the SOFTEST look

ZUKO JUMPED IN FRONT OF LIGHTNING FOR KATARA, SHOUTING “NO!” WHEN HE REALISED THE BOLT WAS HEADED IN HER DIRECTION. despite knowing that his failure would result in azula becoming the firelord, which would have devastating effects on the fire nation and world! he valued katara’s life that much to just risk it all !!! how, their hands both reached for each other! the only time a scene has ever been animated directly from a certain character’s point of view

KATARA BOLTING TOWARDS ZUKO TO TRY AND SAVE HIM before azula cut her off. HER CRYING WHEN HEALING HIM. “i’m the one who should be thanking you”

god there are so many more little moments that i could talk about i just love each and every thing about those two and their relationship i could talk for hours about how perfect they are i could i really could
