What you said about Jordan being casual about his trans and queer audience is so real and true. I do love the celebrations and congratulations and all that and people do deserve that but it's so cool to just have coming out and transitioning just being a normal thing when it's mentioned. I vividly remember one of his sub server vids with the person who makes all the tank builds changing their name to tankgirl and he just had a moment like oh no have I been misgendering them this whole time and then immediately just made the switch and didn't make a thing out of it. Like u said both ways streamers react are great and people have their personal preferences but for me i love that kinda reaction.

yeah!!! i think. and this is just a personal theory. that a huge part of it is just the average age and levels of experience between the two fanbases.

because whether you’re actually old or not, more often than not jordan’s viewers are people who have been with him for a long time, and consequently on the internet for a while. so chances are that if they are lgbt, they’ve had a long time to build up a stable support system in online spaces, if not also in real life. having a safe space to come out to for them is nothing new, because chances are they found something like that long ago. there’s no spectacle in it because it’s just been the norm for so long. so it’s nice to have a space where people share the same sentiment, and just treat it like the mundane thing it feels like.

wilbur, tommy, etc fans, though, are, as a whole, a lot younger. both in actual age, and in experience in fandom/online spaces. most of them are just figuring themselves out, or have never had anywhere they’ve been able to outwardly be themselves in, so it’s a lot bigger of a deal to openly talk about. coming out is still a big thing!! it’s new!! it’s exciting!! and those streamers reflect that mindset, which can be really validating and exciting when you’re just coming to terms with yourself. as stated, neither approach is a bad thing!! and there are of course outliers, this is just a generalization, but it’s very interesting to observe

So I’m giving into my worst instincts once again and writing out what I have for another Mianite AU, namely an Ace Attorney AU I keep thinking about but am struggling to write cases for while not copying the games' storylines (though doing Turnabout Sisters is at least a little tempting). So I thought I’d write out what I currently have for the characters. I haven’t come up with what I want for all the characters (other than, well, gay), so these are just characters I currently have set ideas for.

The basic concept for those unfamiliar with Ace Attorney is that you follow a defence attorney in a world where all criminal trials must take a maximum of three days, 99% of which end in a guilty verdict (going off the win streaks of most prosecutors). Near constantly on the backfoot, you will need to prove not only your client’s innocence, but in most cases find the actual guilty party for any hope of winning your case. But don’t worry, you have legal assistants to help you in court and in investigations with a range of knowledge from just general, to scientific, to literal magic. 

Defense Attorneys:

Spark Conway: The current head of Conway & Co. Law Offices, he’s a well respected defence lawyer that’s currently acting as a mentor to both Tom and Capsize. Given his experience and win record, he’s typically the person people are actually looking for when they contact the office for a defence lawyer. He’ll often stay late at the office, even when none of them are actively on a case. Tom and Capsize are both pretty convinced he’s investigating something, even if Spark assures them he’s just working on the behind the scenes sort of things that anyone who runs a business needs to.

Tom Syndicate: The newest addition to Conway & Co., Tom has recently received his attorney’s badge, graduating from legal assistant to fully fledged defence attorney. His family were well acquainted with Spark before Tom started working for him, to the point that when he originally approached him about being taken on as a legal assistant he was assumed to be looking for legal assistance for his dad. Tom’s decision to become a defence attorney actually has little to do with his family’s troubles with the law, and is almost entirely to get back in contact with his childhood friend who happened to become a prosecutor. Meeting him again in court isn’t ideal, but he didn’t exactly have a phone number for the man. 

Capsize Dunbar: The other defence attorney at Conway & Co., Capsize got her badge about a year ago and hence has a little more experience than Tom, though she’s very much still considered a rookie. She had been originally training to become a prosecutor, but in the week she was meant to be receiving her badge, she was arrested on suspicion of murder. The following trial is where she met Spark Conway, who acted as her defence attorney and proved her innocence. Having sat in the defendant’s chair, and seen nearly everyone, friend or otherwise, insist on her guilt, she ended her prosecuting career before it began and started training as a defence attorney. This was not well received by certain people in the prosecutor’s office, but they all believed she was guilty so she doesn’t exactly care much about their opinion anymore.

Prosecutors:

Jordan Sparklez: A young prosecutor, currently undefended in court. He is both Tom’s childhood friend, and shared a mentor with Capsize when she was still training as a prosecutor. He is currently in contact with neither, despite previously having close friendships with both. He and Tom were friends back as children and pre-teens. The two were pretty much inseparable until Jordan had to suddenly move away and they lost contact. It was only after this move that Jordan settled on becoming a prosecutor, meeting the woman who would become his mentor, Ianite. During this time was also when he met Capsize, who he trained and worked alongside throughout law school, the two light-heartedly competed, especially about who would get their badge first. This ended with Jordan receiving his badge the same day Capsize was arrested. After her acquittal, and subsequent change in career paths, they ended up in a massive argument and the two haven’t spoken since. Since then, his focus has been on his prosecuting career, nearly entirely focusing on getting guilty verdicts and following the teachings of his mentor. His methods have been described as questionable, with rumours of false witnesses and evidence being used. It was these rumours that caught Tom’s attention and started his own path towards law.

Ianite ???: [Her last name isn’t unknown, she just is S1 Ianite not S2, so I don’t have a last name for her yet.] Jordan’s, and previously Capsize’s, mentor and the current head prosecutor, Ianite is a feared name in the law community. Any defence attorney going to face her in court has to pretty much accept a loss, even though her record is not completely flawless, her methods and presence in court is feared. After Capsize’s trial, she met briefly with Spark, just to make sure her ex-protégé was going to be in good hands. As much as she was sad to see her go, she realised it was likely better to let her forge her own path, especially after the fight between Jordan and Capsize. She hopes to face her as an equal in court one day.

Martha Conway: A renowned prosecutor with only two losses in her career, both of which were when facing her father in court. Despite what many would think, she and Spark don’t actually have a bad relationship, rather she merely decided to try and figure out the same mystery as him from a different angle. Though she would prefer not to face him in court again, given how the previous two times have gone.

Non-Lawyers:

Andor Conway: Spark’s grandson, a teenager who will come and visit his grandfather at least once a month. He often finds himself joining in with Tom and Capsize’s shenanigans outside of the office as his visits are the only time he gets to actually mess around since he has a lot of responsibilities back home (and also his dad is a dick). Also, he has the magical power to contact the spirits of the dead, don’t worry about it.

Redbeard Dunbar: A police detective and Capsize’s brother, he is the head investigator on most of Jordan’s cases, and hence runs into Tom a lot more than either would like (at least until the two warm up to each other). It actually takes until the end of his first case with the detective in charge of the investigation for Tom to realise he’s Capsize’s brother, something that entertains Capsize to no end.

Sonja Foxx: Sonja was Capsize’s girlfriend back in law school. The two were extremely close, until Capsize’s arrest and the subsequent trial where Sonja was the key witness of the prosecution. The testimony she gave made Capsize’s guilt clear, and as Spark proved, was completely false. Why she gave false testimony against her was not revealed in the trial, and Sonja disappeared shortly afterwards, leaving Capsize confused and heartbroken. Recently, she’s reappeared back in town, a fact known to Tom and Spark, but not to Capsize. A little after Tom’s first case, she came to the office asking after Capsize, though she wasn’t there at the time and Sonja quickly left upon seeing Spark. The two decided not to tell Capsize about her reappearance, at least for now while they’re still unsure of why she’s returned.

Mianite Stuff

So I’m not sure if this ‘drama’ has been resolved but I just wanted to talk about it because I have to stick my nose in everything alksdfj;klasd.  (EDIT!! From what I know, someone apart of the Mianite fandom said that “all the gods are gay” then a member of the Mianite BTS/writer team basically endorsed this. Later on after some questions on the matter a BTS/writer team member {keeping their identity private for safety but you can easily find} out right said that “Mianite is straight, Dianite is gay, and Ianite is bi” they weren’t implying shit they down right said it. I think they have now back tracked on the statement but people should still know why it’s harmful)

So as most of the fandom headcanons Ianite and Dianite as either gay or bi but I know that some people ship Mianite and Karl together so that would basically headcanon Mianite as gay or bi (I’m not trying to say that the gods could be anything else but these are the most common headcanons). This series is made to be an open book from what we’ve seen, we can ‘bend’ the characters how we want. This fandom is built off of headcanons of the characters we see, including Captain Sparklez, Syndicate, and Karl. I mean I even have headcanons for the series and I’ve made my own personal timeline from my headcanons. If the writers of the series start making it ‘stricter’ then it won’t be as fun in my opinion, yes the series is starting to have a script when it comes to the events but those are the events not the ‘personal’ lives or ‘personal’ events that belong the characters. If the writers start making so called scripts for the ‘personal’ events then it won’t be as fun is what I’m trying to say. If they have a set sexuality, yes that can be great for LGBTQ+ representation but that’s also kinda taking away the open bookness of the series (please tell me if you disagree with this and tell me why so I can possibly change my opinion.)

Now let’s talk on what the BTS member/writer said about the LGBTQ+ representation of the characters. Basically what they said is that Mianite is straight, Ianite is bi, and Dianite is gay now at first you may not see it as harmful but if you look at it closer it really is. Mianite is the ‘good’ god as seen in many people’s eyes, he is the god of everything order and most of the time ‘order’ is a good thing so that would make him a ‘good’ god. Saying that Mianite is straight is like saying the Jesus was straight, Jesus was the ‘good’ god and many people think that he is straight all though there are many signs that he was not, you may not mean it but by saying that ‘good’ god is straight is kinda implying that good people are always straight when that is not true. Making Ianite bi isn’t inherently wrong but she is the goddess of ‘balance’, many people sadly believe that bisexuality is 50/50, it’s balance. Bisexuality is far from 50/50 as bisexuality can mean that you are attracted to more than one(1) gender, making the goddess of balance, which is associated with two things, is kinda like saying that bisexuality is 50/50 you may not mean that but that is sadly the underlying tone. Now I think might be the worst one is Dianite, Dianite is seen as a gay man and there are underlying tones that this man is gay (I’m not exactly sure if it’s been completely confirmed but I know nothing of it). Dianite is the ‘evil’ god, he’s the king of the nether and basically the god of all evil, his skin is red, he has large horns, and his eyes are white basically all things you would make an evil demon. Making the evil god gay is kinda super wrong, now you can have gay villains, that is fine and give more inclusivity but it’s really only okay if the entire cast is full of diversity but sadly the main cast is three white men who are straight (at least two- no maybe... maybe Karl is the only straight one idk what’s going on with Jordan and Tom kdsjf;klajsd) so making the only gay (homosexual) god the EVIL god sadly has underlying homophobic tones. 

I think the greatest thing that the person and BTS member/writer could do is simply, let the fandom have the freedom of letting their favorite characters have their own sexuality. I think what the BTS member/writer could’ve said is that, the gods care more about personality (or in Dianite’s case attractiveness *cough cough* Sparklez *cough cough*) than gender or sex, that would give the BTS member/writer the freedom to tell the fandom that the characters aren’t necessarily part of the heteorsexual community while also letting the fandom have the freedom of making the gods whatever sexuality they wanted. Again this is all in my own opinion and I would love to hear your guys’ opinion on the matter!

(EDIT #2 “But on Oct 13, some person was saying really rude things to (writer) basically saying she's "afraid of making confirmed sexualities" for characters. And calling her a bad writer for it, etc. And then (writer) later said the Gods sexualities. So I think it really was a "fine, you want confirmation? Here." Kind of thing.” So I’m guessing that this whole ordeal was basically out of spite? If so I kinda get it, don’t harass people on making a certain character a sexuality, that’s basically was fanfic is for. I know it sucks that you have to rely on just fanfic to have your favorite character have it’s headcanoned sexuality but sometimes bad things can happen when you try and force headcanons onto to characters. This {I guess} could’ve all been avoided if the fandom didn’t harass the writer but I still want people to know that even though this was out of spite it’s still a really bad thing to say. Again the writer could’ve easily said that they were all pansexual {from what I understand pansexual is a “gender/sex blind” sexuality where you only really care about personality. Please inform me if I am not correct} so people would be happy with some representation.)

So I guess the TL;DR is there was this person who was in the Mianite fandom that said that all the gods were gay and that sparked a small controversy in the fandom (for a good reason) after that a mianite BTS member/writer basically endorsed that by saying that Mianite is straight, Ianite is bi, and Dianite is gay, in my opinion the BTS member/writer should’ve just said that the gods care more for personality/attractiveness then gender and/or sex because that would give both the BTS member/writer and the fandom to do whatever they wanted with the characters sexuality.

i KNOW part of it is nostalgia blindness 100% honestly. i poke fun at dreamsmp’s popularity (despite now watching it myself and having a toe dipped in the fandom) out of??? jealous i guess? no other minecraft fandom was really like it, no matter how popular yogs/ah/mianite/team crafted got at their prime, none of them had the *fandom* culture it had. yogs had it special thing on tumblr, but it never reached cross platform. hermitcraft too, is still very popular, but hasn’t reached the same level dreamsmp has, and honestly, good! i really think it’s going to stick around *because* it’s not crazy popular.

 but the amount of fanmade content is INSANE compared to any other mcyt fandom. it’s unsurprising with people in quarantine having the time to watch long livestreams and produce it, and the fact that twitter is the norm for that fandom... you get the idea. and it just makes me, deep down, sad yogs never got an animatic that got 10 million views. 

but the THING ABOUT THIS IS i think that’s WHY it’s not the same! thinking back, im relieved old mcyt fandoms arent as main stream, god knows the alternate timeline where xephos getting confirmed gay trends on twitter. there was comfort (and still is) in them being small. even at its height the yogs fandom was condensed, ppl knew the names of most big fandom blogs, the drama wasnt often *between* fans, more between creators and fans, which is why the relation was distanced. 

im jumping topics here without rly finishing them, but also, on canon stuff. one thing that i care a lot about with yogs is that... nothing and everything is canon? the “lore” we were given was so vague and randomly thrown out ppl could pick and choose what they wanted. i really still appreciate what rythian and zoey acknowledged when they released the blackrock plot, abt how the story is ours now. w/ a lot of dreamsmp lore, ive noticed, yeah, it’s cool that stuff becomes canon and lore is validated, but then someone’s headcanon they made is inconsistent with what’s made canon, and bc of fandom pressure, they can’t rly express that headcanon without backlash or at least ppl explaining why its not canon

with yogs, i can say “hey, i headcanon nano and parvis as siblings!” and no one cares! but with dreamsmp, if i say “hey i like (x) and (y) as siblings” someone might say “actually, canonically (x) is the sibling of (z)”

dont get me wrong, i HAVE seen plenty of people super chill about personal headcanons! this is more just how by making certain things canon and not canon, the series looses its “its minecraft nothing is canon or non-canon” uniqueness to it.  ON YOUR SECOND POINT.

for my own personal reasons its hard for me to consume certain ghostbur content, but the whole “3 lore deaths” is cool in concept! but the dark comedy implications of respawning will always be more fun to me. ya dead ya dead was such a fun idea of hardcore mode as well. 

summery of this part: to some extent, old mcyt fandoms couldnt thrive without minecraft itself being popular, while dreamsmp just uses minecraft as its launching point

🧩 What will make you click away from a fanfic immediately?

Not having paragraphs or not having grammar - especially when the description did.

Also, villainizing characters for no good reason, but this one is harder for me to define. Like it seems to depend on my mood so I think it's more of my “She would not fucking sat that” thing that disliking villainizing. I've like got better things to do than read fics making my favourites into pricks and not tagging them as either villains or the fic as salt fics (you tag it, go nuts because then I know what to expect).

🍦 Name three name things about a character you hate

Typically I'll try to make these questions about Mianite, but I don't actually hate any Mianite characters - if I hate a character I'm not going to write fanfiction with them in it. So here's three nice things about Chris from Until Dawn - a character that went through a similar journey in my years of interacting with the character as Jordan (I ship this straight ship -> this man is a dick to his “girlfriend” and she gets to be gay now as a treat), but didn't have the redeeming qualities for me to not want to explode him with my mind.

It is genuinely very nice how much Chris cares for Josh, even post the reveal of the prank. He can die trying to bring him to safety and if that isn't being a good best friend I don't know what is

Regardless of my feelings about them as a couple “Every second I spent with you was the only thing I ever wanted to do with my time” is a genuinely really sweet line

I really like his interactions with the Flamethrower Man. Just the whole little walk to the shed with him. I stood around to hear more dialogue from the two. And the fact that he will always defend him in the police interviews if he survives is nice.

🐇 Do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or both?

I have a very unfortunate problem that whether I see my name in a piece of media, I am then unable to take it seriously. In fact, my name was originally used in a good number of fics for Capsize, back when giving her a normal name was popular, and god did I spend so much time giggling because “tehehe that's me”. No, I can't read reader inserts with (y/n) stuff because of that - so I definitely couldn't write one.

Originally characters though, I have so many and I write and them all the time. I understand this question is likely about them being put into universe with canon characters which I don't tend to do but a) I do have an idea for a crossover with my OC verse and Mianite I'm just too lazy to write something that would require a ton of character description and world explanation right now and b) one of my OCs has a canonical crush on Leon Kennedy (and Claire Redfield and probably Ada Wong) and I'm above making them kiss (did this crush start off as a joke that she'd find RE4 relatable because she is a rich girl body guarded by a powerful person named Leon(tine) YES but I'd like her meet and kiss Leon to make her happy).

Okay I’m going to be real here, Tucker x Mianite started as a crack ship because people ship Syndianite and Sparklez x Ianite but not Tucker and Mianite? What gives, right?

But then I sat on it for a bit, and thought about Tucker as a character, and about Mianite as a character. And realized this was OTP material.Though do not be confused- this is not couple’s goals material.

I think to analyze Miacho we must first look at the shippable nature of Tucker. During Mianite Tucker was the Straight Man. He had a girlfriend and therefore was not candy in the eyes of shippers who flocked to Syndisparklez as Tom and Jordan fed the masses over and over again. People love to exclaim “Tom is so thirsty for Jordan!” “Tom ‘Horny on main’ Syndicate at it again”, and while they are right I think it’s important to say just how much more horny Tucker is in his day to day vernacular. This is the man with such quotes as “I just want to get sucked and fucked” “I’d suck dick for some quartz”, and “if you’re not sucking dick, you’re gay”I mean the early season one bromance between Tucker and Tom was real, until of course Jordan joined and Tom focused his heart on him instead. My point here is, Tucker has plenty of overlooked shippable energy, also he’s a twink. One look at the content of his insta will prove this.

Anyway, onto Miacho.

Tucker’s devotion to his god is astronomical. In season one the Mianitees got the short end of the stick. Declan clearly favored playing Dianite and so Tucker would often pray and pray and bitch, only to get nothing in return. Or just a sword with bane of arthropods. Being a Good Honorable Mianitee was not in his nature. He says as much during one of his fights with Nadeshot. That normally he’d just slay Nade out, but that he was trying to live up to his god’s ideals, and wanted to give him mercy and a second chance.And despite bitching about his god when his prayers went unanswered, Tucker really would do anything for him. You can see that in season two when Mianite is clearly the villain and Tucker blindly stays by his side, doing anything he’s asked, including killing children.Tucker is loyal to a fault. And I don’t think it would be beyond him to suck his god’s dick in lieu of a prayer. And I am down to clown with that. The size difference alone is great, lemme tell ya.

That being said, I do not, nor will I ever, see this as a healthy relationship. I think Tucker craves control. He’s the champion of Mianite. He’s the leader of his little alliance in season one, and he gets upset when Tom acts irrationally in ways he doesn’t understand and can’t contain. He gets his sense of self worth from serving his god, and being a worthy follower and champion. I think having relations with Mianite would make him feel special and privileged, and above everyone else. Because who else gets to serve their god like this?

Because of that the ship has a major power imbalance. Tucker, being someone who will do anything for his god’s approval, and Mianite, being said god and also a cold and detached character with no empathy for mortals, do not make a balanced or healthy relationship of any kind. Sexual or romantic. The Mianite of season one would not care that Tucker’s obsession with him is unhealthy. He’d find it advantageous. If he even noticed at all. I think InsaneWeasel’s “Tucker Boner’s Relationship with Lord Mianite” series on A03 hits the nail on the head for me the most.

However there are people that disagree with me. I have friends that prefer a more fluffy relationship, where they believe that Mianite’s empathy for his sister extends to the mortals, and that if he were simply developed more he could have a legitimate relationship with Tucker. That’s valid. I think there could be room for that too, where Tucker gets tired of the constant subservient relationship, and fucks off- ala never wanting to do the Mianite series again- forcing Mianite to reevaluate the way he sees and treats his followers. I personally love gore, whump, and more tragic character arcs. So yeah I’m probably focusing on the negative and the sexual tension.

But to be really real- The main reason why Miacho is a superior ship because it’s absurd. Tucker is a loud and brash individual who says horny shit 24/7 and would bang Mianite just because he could. It’s funny, it’s light, but it can be heavy and really good for an in depth character study if it needs to be. I think it’s fresh and it’s fun as hell.
