I’m just saying... when Lucien first finds out about the Nein and their relationship to Molly, there’s nothing to imply to that he doesn’t think the Nein was a polycule that Molly was in. Fjord explains how fond they were of Molly and how “it’s more than a little awkward,” to which Lucien replies, “You fell for the empty speck?” Pretty much all of the Nein reiterate what Fjord said about how important Molly was to them, and through later exposition from the Nein about Molly’s personality... I think it’s fully plausible Lucien could think the Nein is all dating.

Look, the M9 has really upped their polymorph game. I’m rewatching the roc adventure right now and after polymorphing the roc, they stay nearby searching and fucking around during the hour the polymorphed roc is incapacitated. At least now they have learned to run away from polymorphed creatures.

i know some people are sad that the nein didn’t go to eiselcross through xhorhas/essek, but honestly, i think the connection to the tombtakers would’ve been so much less intense if they hadn’t taken vess’s offer.

vess’s murder while they’re protecting her is the catalyst for the nein learning how intense lucien is to murder an archmage of the cerberus assembly, who have sort of been the baddest people they’ve met up until that point.

that moment sparks their chase of the tombtakers, leads to the two groups traveling together, a tentative peace. i mean, i can’t say that this wouldn’t have happened if they’d taken essek’s offer, but it feels a lot less likely that they’d end up traveling alongside the tombtakers if they had been traveling with essek. 

from a character standpoint, i do get the loss of not getting more moments with essek, but from a narrative perspective, i think going with vess ended up being a lot more dramatic and fitting.
