#SidePatchSunday 2019 San Diego Padres ✖ New Era 59Fifty AC OF 50th Anniversary (1969-2019) Fitted Cap. MLB expanded in 1969, 2 Teams in the American League and 2 Teams in the National League, the new AL teams were the Kansas City Royals and the Seattle Pilots and the NL Teams were the San Diego Padres and the Montreal Expos. The KC Royals celebrated their 50th Anniversary last year as they counted their Inagural season as their 1st year, unfortunately the Seattle Pilots was a one and done season in Seattle and relocated to Milwaukee in 1970 to become the Brewers so I am assuming they will celebrate their 50th next season (2020) Milwaukee was one of the candidates for an expansion in 1969 after the Braves moved to Atlanta along with another candidate in the Dallas/Ft. It's #WayBackWednesday and since the @reds are celebrating their 150th season it is just fitting to show my 1985 Cincinnati Reds ✖ New Era Pro Model Fitted Cap. In 1983 I saw my very first baseball game on TV, they were showing MLB games every Sunday in the Philippines as game of the week sponsored by one of the big local banking company and the very first game I saw was the reds vs. The dodgers and thats when I fell in love with baseball and the uniforms, the following week it was the same reds team and actually the reds was the first team I rooted for, 1983 was an awesome year for baseball, I honestly believe the best uniforms was in the 1980's, later that year the Phillies and the Orioles met in the World Series, i rooted for the Phillies not knowing someday I'm actually going to live in Philadelphia, but I picked them because of Pete Rose and Greg Luzinski I just admired them 😁 sadly the O's prevailed though I love the cartoon bird logo on their caps and their unis are also beautiful! And in 1985 Pete Rose broke Ty Cobb's career hits record, and in 2005 while working at the Forum Shops in Las Vegas I was working across Pete Rose and we actually was side by side in the bathroom stall one day haha and I asked him if he can autograph my 1997 Jackie Robinson National League Baseball and he said "$50 bucks" and I just smiled and left and somehow one of my childhood hero is no more 😢 also one of the reason I no longer approach athletes especially players I rooted for. Congratulations #MarianoRivera @officialmo42 2019 Hall of Fame Inductee! There are more men that walked on the moon (12) than players that scored on Mariano Rivera in the Playoffs (11) I still remember his first start in 1995 and it wasn't a good one but he bounced back and later that year he was one of the bright spots in the Yankees Bullpen, and in 1996 as a set up man Mariano was a 2 inning automatic shutdown guy, when he finally became the closer he became the greatest closer in the history of the game as a Yankees fan we are so spoiled during his playing career that sometimes we never realize how fortunate and blessed we are to have Mo, In 2009 World Series Mariano came in the 8th to give us 6 outs and save the game and the Series, the all-time saves leader who broke so many bats did it all with one pitch, hitters knew whats coming and they still couldnt hit it, his cutter was so good that it is harder for a lefty to even hit it, managers often let right handed batters take their chance than go for a lefty pinch hitter.
