Baseball started in Salinas in 1954 when the Salinas Packers played in Salinas until 1958, they were the Pirates affiliate in 1955 and the Milwaukee Braves affiliate from 1956-1958, Baseball made a return in Salinas in 1963 when the Salinas Mets played there from 1963-64 and became the Salinas Indians in 1965, the second incarnation of the Salinas Packers came in 1973-75 when they were the new affiliate of the California Angels and changed their name to Salinas Angels in 1976-1980. The Phillies retired his number 1 in 1979. #saturdayvibes Yankees need to start pitching well, just pitch and stop thinking and trying to hard, with the new scouting report and all of this effing stat BS and nerds taking over, #MLB and the players forgot what makes baseball great, it's a game of inches and moves, like chess. It's a game of instincts, gut feelings and superstitions and there is no science or explanation to that, play and play like when we were kids abd enjoy and just have fun out there, don't make things sooo complicated. Congratulations #MarianoRivera @officialmo42 2019 Hall of Fame Inductee! There are more men that walked on the moon (12) than players that scored on Mariano Rivera in the Playoffs (11) I still remember his first start in 1995 and it wasn't a good one but he bounced back and later that year he was one of the bright spots in the Yankees Bullpen, and in 1996 as a set up man Mariano was a 2 inning automatic shutdown guy, when he finally became the closer he became the greatest closer in the history of the game as a Yankees fan we are so spoiled during his playing career that sometimes we never realize how fortunate and blessed we are to have Mo, In 2009 World Series Mariano came in the 8th to give us 6 outs and save the game and the Series, the all-time saves leader who broke so many bats did it all with one pitch, hitters knew whats coming and they still couldnt hit it, his cutter was so good that it is harder for a lefty to even hit it, managers often let right handed batters take their chance than go for a lefty pinch hitter.
