I kinda want to get involved with more arcs/stories and genuinely interact with more people, but I'm genuinely nervous and bad at approaching people ((I also worry about bothering people))
I love Spamgon and wanna do more! but damn if anxiety dosen't get in the way.
The Black Rose Musical is an interesting adaption in many ways, but for me it's always about how it handles the duels. The musical really showcases that the black rose duelists (at least in the case of the three duelists in the musical) are not just wielding swords, they are wielding someone's heart. 2v2s between the the duelist and Utena in reality, but also the counterpoint student council member and the power of Dios in metaphor. The way songs get reprised from the Student Council musical is great.
But with Shiori's duel in particular, she's wielding Juri's heart. Except she doesn't have the same level of control, not in the way Kozue could wield Miki or Wakakba could wield Saionji.
On stage, during that duel, Shiori and (an echo of? it's certainly not literal) Juri fight each other before the duel proper starts. And at the duel's end, Utena and Dios show up and do their sword slashes, but Shiori and Juri take each others roses! If Shiori had perfect control over Juri's heart she could of won, she could have defeated Utena! But she doesn't! Which perfectly demonstrates their relationship at this point in time!
I was a Shiori/Juri enjoyer well become that musical came out, but their duel just made them even better.
A quick question considering it comes from the kind of people Dobson parrots his opinions from on twitter, why is it a common trend for work activists to insist that having characters as LBGT is what defines them as “deep and complex”? I can understand it is for representation, but most of the time it’s executed with it being a character/cast’s entire personality instead of being a trait.
I’m going to speak in generalities, but I am not referring to every single piece of media with LGBT characters in them, just fyi.
Because for a lot of the shows, they are using the character’s sexuality as a shield for criticism. The show can be badly written, or be a terrible adaptation, or have awful characters that are supposed to be seen as good…but they’ll just accuse any negative responses as “being sexist/racist-ect” and immediately gain praise from people online who don’t watch the show but want to be seen as morally superior. It’s a “you have to like and praise this thing because the main character is LGBT/a strong woman/a POC” strategy, and a lot of times it’s the most hollow, shallow form or representation there is.
The majority of people out there don’t care if a character is gay or female or black or whatever. What they do care about is if the character is interesting or complex or someone you can empathize and connect with. People want well-written characters and stories, not someone who’s entire personality and existence boils doing to their gender, sexuality or race.
oh! btw do you use discord? there’s a server for the rp blogs (sorry if someone’s mentioned this before i was just wondering)
// :0! I WASN'T AWARE OF THAT, BUT YES, I USE DISCORD
// A little hesitant to put my Discord out there in public tho because once I put my Discord username in an audition for a fandub and for some reason a Minecraft rp producer tried friending me? I have never interacted with Munecraft rp before

My brain: This song is just Older Discorded Sweetie vs Discord in the Disharmony AU given Sweetie Belle knows some powerful magic in it and can level with Discord.
I was playing Legends: Arceus last night and the thought occurred to me that
Odd’s reputation for getting kidnapped by Pokemon might give Akari more than a few heart attacks on survey missions
But also that he might end up considered a huge outcast in the village thanks to his affinity for getting along with Pokemon, and something he’ll be able to do by that point in the story.
