The covid has been mercifully mild. I haven't lost my sense of taste. My throat doesn't feel violated by razor blades. I haven't been motionless in bed for days on end. But because of these eccentricities of my specific case, I let it off the hook because I thought it was the flu. And I think I caught it from a couple well-meaning people who are too lazy to understand there's a difference. I, on the other hand, do know the difference, and simply didn't get tested like I should have.

Thankfully, I've been staying home from work since my symptoms manifested, functionally quarantined. And I'm fortunate to have a job that understands I know better than they do when I'm not well enough to come in. The symptoms have been steadily abating. It's the ear infections I have to focus on now... my right has been ringing nonstop for over a day. And I'd really prefer my eardrums don't rupture.

So if you're wondering why I've been silent for a while... it's because this year is being a doozy already.
