As many of you are likely aware, my housing situation hasn't been very stable. I've moved (temporarily) to a place out in the woods with my mother after my lease ended a couple months ago. The plan was to spend a while here, save up our money, and get ourselves a place somewhere in the Greater Toronto Area.

It turns out this might have been a mistake. Our food gets stolen. Our landlord causes arguments, constantly finds reasons to complain, and it often times leads to shouting and threats of eviction if she doesn't get her way.

We're close to securing a place for ourselves before it can come to that, but we need some financial help to get there. First and Last month's rent payment for a new place is out of our reach, and we also need to buy furniture, dishes, utensils, and various other necessities once we do move.

Do note, however, that my situation does not jeopardize the beta in any way. It's not hosted on my hardware, and will continue to run regardless so long as the server bill is payed. The only impact it may have is in the frequency of updates.

Your April 2nd Parpdate: More like Ruby on Fails edition.

Ok so this one is semi-negative so buckle up, there's gonna be a TL;DR at the bottom too for those looking for the bullet points on all this.

Dev has officially resumed, but with it we've run into the same bug that was beshitting things up before with the javascript module packing. On top of being merely annoying, this has also put some things into perspective for us, especially after the beta.

The long and short here is this; after re-reviewing the feedback and keeping our ears to the ground, we've come to the conclusion that we're going to be starting over with a new codebase. There are things that Hex'll be able to reuse from the RoR codebase, so it's not gonna be a hard from-nothing redo, but we will be starting over after some consideration.

I would also be remiss not to bring up the Other Reason why we're considering this. Full transparency here; me and Hex both kinda feel like we dropped the ball on the beta. We went in too hard, too soon, an what we put out wasn't what people were expecting. In this one of the primary points of contention was that the site didn't function enough like MxRP- which is a complaint that Ruby On Rails has been fighting us tooth and nail on rectifying. We've discovered the hard way that going against its conventions ranges from difficult to impossible- adding to the feeling that a refresh might be needed going forward for The Great Reconstruction Of Msparp. To move forward, we're gonna need a different codebase that'll actually do what we want it to.

TL;DR Dev has resumed, but from the start due to Ruby on Rails not quite working the way we need it to.

Me and Hex feel like we dropped the ball with the beta, so we'd like to try un-dropping it as much as possible

So since one of these whiny cowards blocked me before replying I've gone ahead and just responded to their post here.

Blue: My source isn't "dude trust me" I'm saying something relatively uncontroversial. I would also not be willing to look up links to "prove" to you that rape fantasies don't mean you're a rapist because that is also uncontroversial. Do it yourself. Google is right there. I'm not here to impress my professor I am literally just arguing on the internet i am not doing your legwork for you lmfao. If people don't believe me about my background that's cool. Maybe I'm lying, who knows?

Teal: I make sure I'm not role-playing with a minor by using websites that requires its user base to be 18+. Further verification is not my job. Are you suggesting that you ask for the IDs of everyone you roleplay with beforehand, and that not doing so is failing in your personal responsibility? What do YOU do to make sure you're not rping with a minor?

Red: I am ensuring I am not grooming anyone by not participating in grooming activities. I don't so much as talk about the weather OOC with my rp partners most of the time. There is no environment in which grooming can occur. Do you think that shit just happens on accident?

Yellow: I am ensuring I am not assisting a pedophile by not helping anyone gain access to children? Again. What do you think an OOC conversation in a roleplay looks like? How can someone even "assist a pedophile" by roleplay? What if YOU "assist a rapist" by role-playing fictional rape with them? Do you put everyone through a brain scan first to make sure they don't like it *too* much?

Green: none of that is my responsibility. I am responsible exclusively for my own actions. I make sure *i* do not harm anyone personally with my behavior on an every day basis. It's not my job to "implement systems" whatever the fuck you think that means lmao. What systems do YOU implement to make sure you're not assisting rapists if you roleplay noncon?

Black: it's normal to be against CSAM because real, actual children have been harmed. Two adults playing pretend in private isn't CSAM and suggesting they are is incredibly harmful. But you don't care about that, of course. The point for you is not harm reduction, it is to be on a moral high horse.

Peach: yeah you're right I don't check the ID of everyone I roleplay with on DB and neither do you. So what's your point?

Another slow month tbh. I've been letting Hex focus on themselves since the first month or so after the move was pretty hectic. I can however confirm that dev has essentially restarted, and hopefully we'll have something to dump into your SLATHERING MAWS very soon!

Sorry for the slight delay on this one, by the way. ya boy has had some goofery at home (shower broke, had to acquire and help my family install a new one, job increasingly precarious. Adult stuff very boring nothing to do with homestuck RP.)
