Best Worst Movie (2009)

I love a lot about this documentary, but it misses the mark in many ways. Most notably the film leans on these re-enactments of the scenes from the film which I felt distracting and felt like padding.

The film seems to have an empathetic disconnect with the subjects it is capturing. At one moment it praises Troll 2 and in another moment the film is openly mocking the filmmakers.

My heart breaks watching Claudio Fragasso sitting in that screening and being frustrated with the audience's reaction. You can tell he felt mislead a bit, like he finally thought he was getting noticed for his filmmaking only to be bombarded by people laughing at his hard work and mocking his abilities. Sometimes right in front of him!

There is something to be said about the lack of empathy that most viewers have when watching a film. Even fans of these kinds of films will call them trash or so bad they're good, etc. But I posit that if someone derives entertainment from a movie, no matter the reason, then that movie is actually good. And I am certainly not the first person to bring this up, I won't be the last.

The director of Best Worst Movie also did a movie called American Scream which is about a town where multiple people set up haunted houses on their properties every Halloween. It's real good and you should see it.

Incredibly amused by this one upcoming anime that has a foreign girl as one of its main characters and she looks like your average token anime foreigner (white, blond haired, blue eyed, you know the drill), except she’s Brazilian. First time I ever see a blue-eyed blonde Brazilian character in literally any piece of non-Brazilian made media. If my grandpa was still alive I’d give him a call to congratulate him on the representation win.

okay so I don't know if you're all on Twitter and seeing all the updates but I have been quietly observing my For You page and at the first stop in LA the send-off that enha did was pretty civilized and there were a lot of wholesome interactions, but apparently as they moved to other stops I think it got more chaotic??? the last send-off was in Newark and I'm seeing people saying that the entire barricade was fansites, that c-j-k engenes were falsifying wristbands, people left during Polaroid Love (that's only half of the concert) to go to the send-off area, and Jake got a polaroid camera thrown at him (did not hit him I think, thankfully)

I've said this before to my friends and in private but I feel like I have to say it again... the send-offs are unnecessary. It never should have been a thing. If they really wanted one, then they should have made it like any other send-offs (fans exiting the venue and seeing enha in line waving at them, or something with a line that keeps moving like hi-touch).

engenes (or maybe random people there just to get clout and/or yn moments) were way too spoiled in the first three US stops, and now fansites and other people are getting ruder and even more demanding. enha's faces seem visibly uncomfortable too.

I won't be surprised if they stop doing send-offs altogether. if you were one of the privileged engenes to have experienced it, good for you, I do hope you weren't one of the rude and entitled ones. if you are seeing enha soon and expecting the send-off, please be respectful and know your limits.
