The funny thing about Nia Xenoblade is that I’ve heard people describe her English voice as unfitting when compared to her appearance because she sounds older. I don’t think it’s a correct viewpoint, but we’ll call it a valid argument for Xenoblade 2.

When Xenoblade 3 rolls around, Nia’s English voice doesn’t have to change at all because it’s perfectly appropriate for a Welsh catgirl MILF. She sounds like she’s in her late 30s-mid-40s (affectionately), and has a great bod to match!

Although I play with JP voices for better dramatization, I think the diverse accents give the characters a sense of identity. All of the blades (like Pyra, Mythra, Malos) have a standard American accent, the Gormotts (Nia and her people) speak in a Welsh accent, the Leftherians (Rex and his people) speak with a Northern English accent, the Mor Ardanians (like Morag and Niall) speak in a Scottish accent and etc. Similarly, those accents are carried over to their respective races in Xenoblade 3. I love it!

Also yeah, MILF Nia sounds hot in her Welsh accent LMAO

Seeing as you only know what Anna looks like, would you like to tell me your interpretation on how characters look?

Wooooooooo okay... Now this'll be fun! (I'll list them by earliest appearance in the chapter summaries) note: my insane interpretations on what these characters look like is exactly as advertised, insane. double note: i will be adding visuals for some of these characters, so this'll be a mess of text and random images Starting with the MC, Arlet. I'll be honest, I have no clue. With a Fire Emblem MC you can never be sure what they'll look like.

Reinhold definitely gave off Vander from Engage vibes, but like a Vander who didn't age well. A slightly scary Vander (if that makes sense).

For Hewe, my immediate thought was Ky Kiske from Guilty Gear, but a younger Ky. Bit more energetic as well.

Kester, and hear me out. Reminds me of Shulk from Xenoblade (specifically his XC2 design, but imagine he has black hair). Take away his Monado, replace it with a lance and give him a "Fire Emblem" attire and boom!

Fletcher (like most archer-type characters) made me think of Juniper from Xenoblade. Take away the cat ear things and they'd fit right in with the "Fire Emblem" aesthetic (aside from the outfit).

Mary is just Aerith from Final Fantasy. Need I say more?

Hal is... i actually have no idea.

Niall feels like Raven from Guilty Gear, obviously not as weird and emo and old as Raven, but design-wise Raven fits the "thief" aesthetic.

Condor is another one of those "I have no clue" characters.

Laura was easy (and hear me out). Konoe (or Nine) from Blazblue. She definitely fits the whole "dark mage" thing (although she is a little scary looking) ((plus every Fire Emblem game has a fanservice character, here you go)).

Gareth being a brawler immediately made me think of Akihiko from Persona (with a shirt on of course).

Jaspar is another "I don't know" characters.

Harsent gave off Zelda from- duh. Specifically her BOTW design. Zelda just looks like she'd ride a pegasus.

Sparrow being a "bad guy" made me think of Gaol from Kid Icarus (although Gaol's design is a lil over the top for Fire Emblem standards).

Ricon just makes me think of Robin. Being an elemental mage, I can imagine him flipping through different tomes and whatnot, so my mind jumped to Robin (forgive me for using the Smash render).

Kaen is another idk character.

Lily being a light mage made me think of Mythra from Xenoblade (obviously a "toned-down" design but the point still stands).

Alastor feels like an N from Pokemon (don't ask couldn't explain).

Balsinde I also don't know.

Raven being a dark knight made me jump to Zelgius. Not much besides that.

Adam is just Akechi from Persona, tell me I'm wrong.

Finch (despite just being Alastor) is N... but with a hat! (can't even tell it's him).

Lucille is one of those "I have no clue because they're related to the MC" situations Okay that's not every character but I've taken long enough getting this out, so this'll do for now.

note: sorry for the long wait, got a handful of stuff going on lol

double note: again these insane ideas are insane so don't take them too seriously lol. i just take a character's personality and match it with another. adam is a good example, he's just insane, so i thought of akechi. stuff like that.

The end of Xenoblade Chronicles 2′s 6th chapter is really interesting to me. Not for the obvious reasons, but for one simple thing.

Why does Mythra turn into Pyra in this fight?

When first watching, it’s easy to just go ‘Oh, Mythra got beat up so bad she dropped down to Pyra’. But that’s not really how she should work. Despite the golden hair and overwhelming power, Mythra’s not the super saiyan of the Aegis, she’s not some transformation that goes away if she’s tired.

And one might say ‘It’s not that important, don’t think too hard on it’ But then, why would Malos later on comment about Pyra commanding Siren through willpower? A common piece of advice in writing is to only include information that’s important. It’s much easier for Mythra to simply not revert to Pyra and use Siren herself than for Malos to give a reason for why Pyra can suddenly use it.

So why?

Because, narratively, Pyra has to be the one in this scene. There’s two ways to really interpret this, either from the perspective of ‘why not Mythra’ or ‘why Pyra’. 

You could say that this situation is too much emotionally for Mythra, which is inline with what we know. Mythra was traumatized from the Aegis war and shut herself inside her own mind and let Pyra take over.

I kinda prefer looking at it from the other perspective. Partially its because all that happens to facilitate this is Jin going full Sephiroth and beating the party, which doesn’t quite feel all that traumatic, at least in comparison to what’s already happened at this point, between Vandham and Haze and Niall... Anyways, the big thing is that looking at this from Pyra’s perspective feels very... revealing. Because what is it that Pyra does?

Threaten to kill herself before Malos can get what he wants.

It speaks a lot both to Pyra’s conviction and as a reminder of what it is Pyra’s goal at the beginning of the journey is. Of course, the player doesn’t know the true reason why the Aegis is searching for Elysium, but with hindsight, it makes perfect sense why it’s Pyra sacrificing herself and not Mythra. It’s what Pyra was made for.

one very enjoyable thing in xenoblade chronicles 2 is that the english localisation decided to make mor ardain, what’s probably the BIGGEST (& def most populous) nation in the game, be scottish (i.e. ardainians all have scottish accents & generally scottish origin names, a lot of location names etc have scottish gaelic origin, but since it’s a localisation change the actual nation isn’t fundamentally based on scotland see: it’s a FUCKIGN DESERT)

and bc of this i, a scottish person, get the incredible pleasure of seeing minor NPCs have freaking TERRIBLE scottish accents in voiced cutscenes bc it’s really not justifiable to go hunting down a bunch of scots for some single-line NPCs, which is fair, but also most of the the non-scottish VAs can’t fake an accent to save their goddamn life FBEHFHEBDW

#the VAs did really good in the ppl that mattered #like mòrag (tho her accent is DEFINITELY softened for an international audience) or niall #or weirdly the ardainian soldiers. they’re strangely genuine #but all these minor side quest characters somehow sound like they’re combining every single british accent into one and it’s fucking hilaei #hilarious #honestly wonder how the welsh and aussies feel. especially the aussies bc i don’t think anyone in the cast was australian #but they decided to make like the second biggest nation australia? #xenoblade #xenoblade chronicles 2 #xc2
