Ninjago Mermaid AU- Lloyd.

Species: Megalodon. Chosen because he’s the FSM’s grandson and being so made me want to make him an extinct species.

He’s 1/4th Mer 3/4th human. He Barbie: A Mermaid Tale style figured out he’s part mer when turning into a 33ft tall behemoth of a shark merfolk while swimming. He’s slowly figuring out who he is and how to transition between being both a merfolk and human.

Regular Lar is quite clingy... mer!Lar is. LITERALLY clingy. It can be hard for his parents to get ready for work, or his siblings for school, because he's figured out that that means they're going to leave soon, and he doesn't like that :( so he'll cling onto them and try

Wu doesn't have a job, so he tries his best to keep him distracted

Kai and Nya join their little brother in the water part of their house whenever they can. He hasn't quite worked out transformation yet. He'll get it soon though

The kids love it when great grandmastaké comes to visit :) and their grandparents and uncle (they only know two of their three sets of grandparents. Maya's suck, and she's never gonna let them near the kids, not after what happened with wu)

ok so let me spill some stuff about my mermaid au

ok so i've been thinking too much and now I has some lore??? (idk tell me if this sounds cool or lame as hell ok??)

So basically Cole, Kai, Nya, Lloyd and Zane are all mermaids, they're all between the ages of about 18 to 21. and they are all sea witches in training (so basically their elemental powers, and im calling them witches cause they do have some innate elemental control but their more powerful magic are stuff like spells)

in the seaside city that Jay lives in mermaids are common and actually interact with humans a lot. To messing and stealing from fishermen, to some helping people and doing jobs, to some small amount of trading. They keep mostly to themselves but them interacting with people isnt uncommon either. They stay at the coastal town ocean every spring and summer before migrating to warmer waters for the winter. (I am also thinking that they might have their own like underwater city in southern ocean too)

now I'm also tempted to make Jay half mermaid. Like half mermaids happen, but they are rare. Sometimes they are born with tails and live in the ocean with their mer family, and sometimes they arnt born with tails and are raised by their human fam. Jay had no tail, and Ed and Edna found the poor baby alone on the beach. And of course they take the child in. But even though Jay's half mermaid he really doenst have alot to show for it. No scales or patterns, his ears arnt pointy, nor are his fingers webbed like other half mers. He does have pointy teeth and tiny lil gills that dont really work, and he can stay under water for like 10 minutes without needing air. But thats kinda it. He's a lil to mer for other humans and way to human for other mers, so the dude is just really upset and frustrated by all this

but he did get one cool thing from his mom. He does get elemental powers...

    Daniella swished her tail back and forth as she watched the others train and talk. It wasn't a required training session, so Daniella decided to lay on a nearby coral ledge and watch the others. Lloyd had been trying to figure out how to talk to a girl, and everyone was trying to give their own advice as they were training. Of course, Daniella had yet to meet this new girl and she didn't want to give any advice until she had. That, and her little brother didn't ask for her help.

    Daniella was only half listening to the conversation that was taking place however. She had her eyes trained on one certain merman. Lost in her own thoughts and fantasies. She had yet to confess how she felt about him. Daniella had been in the same boat as her brother, and yet, she knew that any advice that she gave to her brother, she would not be able to folow for herself. She was so lost in thought that she didn't hear Lotus swim up behind her.

"Daydreaming? Again?" Lotus asked, pulling the mermaid from her thoughts.

"I don't need any sass from you, thank you," Daniella replied, propping her cheek on her hand.

    Lotus swam around the coral shelf, trying to find a comfortable spot. Daniella let her gaze and her mind wander back to Cole. She was unaware of the judgemental gaze switching between Daniella and Cole. The sea dragon was having a hard time understanding Daniella's attraction but she was trying. For Daniella's sake.

"If you want to impress her, you gotta act tough. Like, flex your muscles and stuff. Break things," Cole advised, punching one hand with the other. Daniella sighed to herself as she sank lower onto the shelf.

"Break things?" Lotus asked, more to herself than the others. 

"Yeah. I'd love to see what things he would want to break," Daniella answered with a dreamy sigh. Lotus gave another glance between the two. Trying to understand the attraction was getting harder and harder. The seadragon wanted Dani to be happy, but at the same time, she didn't want her hurt. Lotus tried to keep her thoughts about it to herself but sometimes she slipped. 

"If he breaks you, they won't find his body," she muttered. Daniella straightened up and turned to look at Lotus.

"You better not!" she warned.

"You're the one that is crushing over someone who could crush you!" Lotus retored before laying down on a bed of seaweed next to the mermaid.

"Overprotecting sealizard," Daniella muttered under her breath.

"I heard that."

"Good, you were meant to."

"You two look comfortable," Cole said, swimming over to the ledge.

"Very comfy. Are you joining us?" Daniella replied, propping herself back on her hand. 

"I could sit here for a little while. Maybe I could show you how to break those rocks that you were researching earlier," Cole said, sitting on the ledge on the other side of Daniella.

    Daniella stilled for a moment before a blush crossed her cheeks. Her eyes widened as she glanced sideways to see if he noticed. Cole was watching the others train intently and she could not see his face properly. She rolled over and reached in her bag, pulling out the rocks that she had been looking at earlier. Lotus swam out of the way and noticed the deep blush that had graced the merman's features as Daniella sat up. Lotus shook her head and swam to a nearby ledge where she could watch the two blushing messes.

It's just where elemental masters are mermaids, the type of fish you're tail was based off of was based not from your parents but from your genetics, those who had one human parent could go on land

Ik this au is for the movie, but the fish types are based more on the show personalities and some show characters are there as well, and the list is for the show universe, so fuck it

Jay- eel

Cole- orca

Zane- betta fish (specifically white, blue, and pink)

Nya- manta ray

Wu- vampire squid

Garm- shark (in a show au he'd be a kraken)

Misako/Koko- she's a human but when she first met Garm, he wanted to show her the sea so he gave her the ability to turn into a manatee mermaid (Koko loses this ability when she leaves Garm, Misako does not)

Skylor- syren (kinda like what you imagined)

Mystaké- jellyfish

Dareth- he's a human but Kai gave him the ability to turn into a koi merman

Ronin- he's a human but Nya gave him the ability to turn into a dolphin merman

Harumi- she's a human but Lloyd gives her the ability to turn into an anglerfish mermaid, she loses this ability at the end of Sons of Garmdon but Garm gives it back to her, her death is caused by drowning as she loses the ability AGAIN but underwater

Pixal- angelfish (she was a magically born mermaid)

FSM- sea dragon (get it-)

Ray- Selkie

Maya- mandarin fish

Lou- he's a human but Lilly gave him the ability to turn into a mudfish merman

Dumb question for your mermaid au but do the kids have siren song abilities or any other mermaid powers? Also like just general control of their elements?

It's not dumb at all! I love getting asks about my aus 👉👈 (....even if it takes me a while to get to them... sorry 😅)

I honestly completely forgot about siren songs and all that... I haven't even thought of it for Wu, let alone the kids fhixgiz

If they did have powers related to being mermaids, Lar would have the strongest of them, since he's got the most mermaid in him of the kids. (Since Ray is human, and Maya is. Mostly human)

I can only say for sure that they can change forms between human and mermaid at will, like Maya can, and in human form can still be fine underwater.

(Lar hasn't managed the transformation yet, since he's still very little. Kai and Nya were older than he currently is when they learnt to do it)

As for elements... I don't think they exist in this AU.
