overlordred said: Heyyyyyyyyyy Doll Face, it me again 🥸🤓, so I saw that you’ve had Porco on the brain and it made something in my brain click again. I don’t know what it is with my need for characters with devoted animal companions but it’s just my thing. Like Porco’s S/O has had her tortoise since she was a kid and it’s HUGE now and since I’m sure you’ve mentioned Udo loves turtles, in a last ditch effort to keep the kids occupied while babysitting them Porco’s like I have a turtle and the kids just lose their minds from this tortoise (who for some reason has a name like Speed or something 😆) If you don’t see it I very much respect that but I just thought I’d share lol. I hope you’re having a beautiful day and good fortune smiles on you. Laters!
Porco & you babysitting pt.2
{ Porco x reader | tw:none | fluff, light drama | modern }
Tumblr media
{ "De Forest Interior" 1878 by Walter L. Palmer  1854-1932 }
"What's wrong?" He said with a frown, stepping back to give you space. "Did i do som-"
"No. It's just that…" you interrupted him, "Porco, what are we exactly? Is this a relationship or are we just friends wit-"
Before you could finish, a high pitched scream came from where the kids were, snapping your attention to the closed door. Porco was the first to move, not wasting a second in pushing it open before hurrying to the living room, you followed behind.
The room was dark, with the tv blue screen illuminating it, whatever was on it was forcefully turned off. It was mostly quiet except for the shallow breathing you'd hear the closer you got to the couch.
Your eyes landed on a small figure, curled into a ball beside the couch, wasn't it for his glasses reflecting the tv light you wouldn't have spotted him.
Before Porco would trip and fall on his face, you flicked the light switch on, so he could avoid the pillows littering the floor.
Udo was looking sickeningly pale, glasses pushed to his head with his face buried in his arms while hugging himself.
Falco was kneeling to him, hands visibly shaking as he tried to soothe the other, growing more nervous as you approached them. "We… we were playing this game and then this-" he hiccuped between his stuttering as he tried to explain what happened.
Porco quickly carried Udo who clung to him like his life depended on it while Falco continued trying his best to form coherent sentences.
You went around the couch where the other two were. Gabi was hugging a pillow in a tight grip, eyes damp as if she's holding back tears while glaring at the floor to avoid meeting your eyes.
She only shook her head when you asked if she's okay.
Meanwhile, Zofia was just...sitting still, too still. Her stare blank and empty at the tv screen, keeping silent and barely acknowledging you when you approached her.
Part of you felt responsible for leaving the kids alone with a horror game when seeing their state now.
"Let's just move them to the kitchen, it'll be okay. Can you carry Zofia?" Porco said with Udo in his arm as Falco trailed after him while clutching his shirt.
You nodded before going to pick her up, she didn't resist but she seemed too stiff and uncomfortable.
Falco actually came back to hold Gabi's hand and guide her with him after Porco, she took her pillow with her too.
When All of them were huddled in their chairs near the table, you could clearly see how visibly shaken they were.
You attempted to soothe them as Porco gave them some cookies and milk that they drowned quickly.
After time, reassurance and Porco lighting up the mood by making some snarky comments about the horror game they were playing that got them giggling, they slowly calmed down.
Falco was the first to feel better
Gabi soon enough followed.
He was telling Porco about how he got the highest score in the game so far which made Gabi object and say she's the one who got the highest score, soon enough forgetting why she was scared in the first place.
They started another fight that basically was one saying "no you didn't!" and the other replying with "yes i did!!" over and over.
That actually managed to make Zofia laugh, more at them than with them.
The only one left who hasn't spoken a word since the beginning was Udo.
Still holding onto Porco with shaky hands.
You and Porco watched as the three of them attempted to cheer him up, each with their unique way.
Gabi saying it's okay he shouldn't be scared because she will protect him and beat up the scary monster if it showed up.
No one dared to bring up the pillow on the table.
Falco said they can just go back and watch some Minecraft let's play instead.
It almost worked but the mention of going back to the living room made Udo even more scared.
Zofia suggested that they can play some animal crossing together and she'd even water all his flowers for him.
That made him perk up, only to frown again when he realised he forgot his switch at Reiner's place.
They kept listing off suggestions but nothing seemed to work or make him smile.
And the fact he still was actually scared and shaking made you and Porco more concerned by the second.
And then Falco said, "maybe we should...call his mom, she usually knows what to-"
"Absolutely not" only to be interrupted by Zofia, "she'd never allow him another sleepover for at least a month."
You and Porco shared a look, as the adults in this situation it was your responsibility to make sure he's safe and call someone who knows what to do.
Holding Udo closer to him with one arm while the other reached for his phone from his pocket, Porco scrolled through his saved contacts. "I think i have his mother's number saved somewhere...here it is, ms-"
In a quick motion, Zofia snatched his phone away. Surprisingly not only you but Falco and Gabi too with her strong reaction.
"No. You don't understand she won't allow him near us again." She explained in a firm tone, grip strong against the phone while looking at Porco in the eye. "Call Reiner instead."
Porco stiffened at the mention of the other's name, a sour look on his face. He was about to refuse but seeing at Zofia's pleading eyes made him stop at the last second.
He looked at you, you gave him a nod.
"Fine." He caved in, running a hand through his hair, "I won't call her, I promise.".
Some seconds passed by as Zofia was eyeing him to determine if he's telling the truth, her grip only softening when her gaze fell on Udo who's still clutching the other's shirt. She reluctantly handed him the phone.
You watch the weirdly intense scene unfold, unsure if you should say something or not.
In the end, you decided not to interrupted. Although noticing how unusually quiet Gabi and Falco were, you realised that they weren't even in the room anymore.
Porco seemed too busy glaring at the air while murmuring something under his breath as the phone rang, while Zofia had her full attention on Udo.
Thankfully, you didn't have to say anything since Both Gabi and Falco came running back into the kuchen, huge smiles on their faces.
"Udo! Udo you won't believe this, there's this giant turtle in Porco’s room!" Falco yelled in excitement.
"It's this big!" Gabi stretched her arms as wide as she can, "and it's black all over with yellow dots! It looks so cool!"
That seemed to get Udo's attention, slowly turning his head from where he was burying it against Porco’s now ruined shirt.
"Really?" He whispered, eyes hopeful and colour returning to his face.
"You went inside my room?" Porco said, alert in his voice.
"What?" Came a voice from his phone, "why would you call me to ask that?...no i didn't. Are the kids okay? I can hear them yelling." Reiner said.
Apparently, that was what it took for Udo to finally calm down.
You watched as Gabi and Udo sat on the ground, faces pressed against the tank glass while attempting to coax the shy turtle out of hiding.
"Her name is lady dash, and if you step back and stop scaring her like that then i might let you feed her some meat." Porco said.
With that, both of them were under lady dash's love spell in no time.
Gabi thought she was the coolest thing in the world, Udo agreed while counting the yellow dots on her shell.
Keeping true to his word, Porco let them give her some food.
They watched with anticipation as she emerged from the shallow water, slowly gliding towards the food.
They both held their breath as she extended her neck, opening her mouth as wide as she can before taking a big bite of the meat, slowly munching on the piece she cut off.
As soon as it ended, they turned around begging Porco for more food to give her.
Zofia and Falco joined too complaining that it isn’t fair since they didn't have a turn.
Porco looked at you for support, you just smiled before saying how come you don't get a turn too?
In the end he gave you all strawberries to give her to munch on.
After that roller coster of emotions, it came no surprise that the kids started getting sleepy and yawning, having used all their sugar energy from ice cream in the previous freak out.
If there's something you know, is that you should never tell a kid that needs a nap, that they need a nap.
Never ever.
Apparently Porco didn't know that.
And now you have four sleepy kids being defensive and offended that you'd even suggest that.
Thankfully tho, they seemed too tired to agru too much as they decided to finally sleep.
Gabi said she isn't even tried, she's only joining because Falco wouldn't stop whining.
Udo and Zofia agreed, despite the three of them being minutes from dozing off.
Falco ended up being their excuse for a nap, but he didn't complain...too much.
Realising that there's still two hours remaining before Reiner comes to pick them up, Porco seemed too eager to get them to sleep to get some time alone with you.
Hell he even grabbed the blankets and pillows and made them makeshift beds in the living room himself just so him and you can go back to his room alone.
"What…no we're not sleeping there." Said Gabi, standing in the middle of the doorway to the living room, arms crossed as the other three stood behind her.
"Yeah...it's still scary." Added Udo, stepping closer to Zofia.
"Can we just sleep in your bed instead? Please?" Falco too was hiding behind Gabi, eyes avoiding the tv at any cost.
Porco gave a stern look, lifting an eyebrow as he too crossed his arms. "No. You're big kids you can handle it."
"If you say so" Zofia poked her head from behind Gabi, "although, it'd be a shame if these pictures of Udo crying, Gabi drinking energy drinks and Falco eating a hot pepper pizza reached Reiner huh."
And in that moment, you remembered exactly the fimilar sense of unease you felt about these kids some hours ago.
You looked at Porco’s unbelieving eyes, knowing fully well he must accept this defeat gracefully.

This is about to get crazy, are you ready? I’ve done way over 2,000 of these, I’m sure I can handle this. Have you ever done cocaine? Nope. Not interested. Where did you buy the shirt you're wearing right now? Feliz, in one of their tiny stalls that sell trendy clothes for a lot cheaper. What song would best describe your love life? I always go with Still Into You - Paramore because it’s my favorite band, it’s their happiest song, and because my relationship’s been going on for a while which is what the song celebrates. What are you going to do after this? Another survey, probably. In the mood for these tonight.
Are you wearing jeans? Hell no. I brought Cooper to the vet today (also the first time I drove out IN THREE MONTHS) and even then I didn’t opt for jeans. Have you ever kissed the last person you texted? That’s my dad, and that would be disgusting. I’ve kissed him on the cheeks though. Has anyone ever called you a whore? Pretty sure we had a bully with anger issues in 6th grade that liked calling me either slut or whore, I’m not sure which it was anymore. I was too depressed in that grade that I wasn’t even bothered by her at all. Who were you last in a car with? Cooper; I had to take him to the vet. His diarrhea had turned bloody so we needed an emergency checkup. Are you in a good mood right now? Not really. My PMS has arrived so I’m in the mood to be on the rooftop, be alone, and cry over nothing lmao. I wish I still had my vape pen. Has anyone ever told you that you have pretty eyes? Maybe once or twice, but it’s not the most striking thing about my face so I don’t get too many compliments about it. Have you lost interest in someone recently? In something, yeah. Quarantine (and the fact that I’m graduating) has so far made me lose interest in my extracurriculars and recently I’ve been getting irritated every time I still get assigned to do work for my org. I’m detached now, please get the hint guys. Is there anyone who you think you deserve an apology from? My mom I guess, for the 22+ years of trauma and emotional abuse. Have you ever played the guitar? I’ve played around with it, but I don’t actually know how to play it well. Has anything "cute" happened in the past week? My dogs. Could you handle living with the last person you talked to on the phone? I already do. It was my dad. Cooper is technically his dog, so when I brought him to the vet I had to contact him repeatedly via text and call to answer some of the vet’s questions. Do you ever take your anger out on others? That was definitely my tendency before, but I’ve seen how that destroys other people so I’ve made it a point to avoid it completely. What grade is the last person you texted in? He hasn’t been in school since 1993. Do you still talk to the person you had feelings for 6 months ago? Yes indeed. Do you know what you want to be when you grow up? I’m quite there already, and yeah sure. I have a general field I see myself being in, but I haven’t thought about what specific job titles I want. Has anyone seen you in your underwear lately? Nopes. Where's your phone right now? Beside me. Have you ever liked someone older than you? Just celebrity crushes hahaha but no one irl. Are you the oldest child? The youngest? In the middle? Only child? I’m the eldest of two other siblings. This survey isn’t as crazy as you pitched it to be so far... Would you rather be called 'honey' or 'baby'? Baby. Not a fan of honey as in recent years it’s been used in a condescending tone to talk down on someone during an argument lol Was the first person to text you today a boy or a girl? Boy. Man, to be more accurate. Is there anyone who doesn't like you because of something you did? I’m sure I’ve pissed off a number of people here and there. When did you last say "I love you"? Did you mean it? Not sure, this morning I think? Yeah, I always mean it when I say it. Are you talking to anyone right now? Nope, am all about this survey right now. Is there someone who pops into your mind at random times? Sure, it happens. My mind’s constantly running so I’m no longer surprised if I go from thinking about a friend to suddenly remembering a sales clerk I may have had a brief interaction with five years ago lmao. What or who is on your mind right now? I’m deciding if I should go for coffee or soju tonight. But I’m PMSing, so I think the choice is obvious. Right handed or left handed? Right. Have you ever had chicken pox? Not yet, which is all the more reason to be terrified haha. I heard it’s worse when you’re older :( Did you buy anything today? Not with my money but I bought new medicine for Cooper (he’s already taking two but the vet added one more since they now found protozoa in his stool) and also ~glucose monohydrate~ to mix with his water. His stool’s looked much better ever since he took these two today so I’ve finally stopped worrying. Last person to lay in your bed, besides you? If it’s not Gabie, they’re not allowed to be on my bed. Other than people, I’ve only had Kimi lie in my bed. I’ve wanted to bring Cooper on it too, but I gotta give it to Kimi. My bed is his throne and it’ll stay his :) When's the last time you took a shower? This morning, but I’ll probs be taking another one tonight. Would you ever camp out on a beach under the stars? I honestly prefer a hotel/resort room nearby lolol. Idk, I just feel like too much sand around would just make me irritable, as much as I love the beach. Are you listening to music right now? If so, what? No music at the moment. Do you prefer warm or cold weather? Cold. Freezing cold. Make me wear three layers of clothing under the thickest blanket. I’ve had enough of tropical climate. What were you doing at 7am this morning? Playing with the pup. Were you happy when you woke up this morning? I was mostly annoyed that my body clock woke me up so early again, actually. Has anyone gotten on your nerves today? Oh my godddd yeah. I went out to go to the vet today and I figured, why not see Gabie? I called her up thinking she’d be stoked about the idea, but being the worrier/pessimist she was she instead gave me a barrage of what if’s and just sounded so unenthusiastic. It killed off my excitement by 200% and by the end of the call I just wanted to stay home lmao. What are you excited for, if anything? More and more people from other colleges in my school are starting to upload their graduation photos on Facebook and I can’t wait for my opportunity aahhh. Do you think anyone is thinking of you right now? Doubt it. When was the last time you cried really hard? I don’t remember if it was this Monday or Tuesday. My mom got annoyed over a small issue and, unsurprisingly, took it out on me and my siblings. The words thrown to us that night were a little harsher than usual so I spent my sweet time crying when everyone was asleep and drowning myself in soju. When did you last hug someone? Who was it? An hour or so ago; Kimi. Are you afraid of roller coasters, or have you never been on one? I went on this beginner-level-type roller coaster in Singapore thinking that I could at least handle that one. I was wrong, and I had a headache for the rest of the day. How's life going for you? Welp. All of my grades are in, so I’m pretty much a graduate now but I’d like to wait for the email from my college to come in before I make anything official. I feel weird about it, sad about it...I should’ve been having my graduation ceremony this Sunday. I’m proud of myself for finishing, of course, but that feeling will never feel full now. It’s just unfortunate that a virus ruined the dream scenarios I had with my dream school. Other than that I’m really just letting the days pass by at home, but at least I’m genuinely happy with my dogs. Have you ever done something outrageously dumb? I do one of that at least once a week, I’m sure. Are you keeping a secret right now? Sure. Can you go an hour without talking? Easily. Has anyone put their arms around you in the past week? Yes, my dad pulled me close for a hug earlier tonight to thank me for handling the Cooper stuff today. Is your hair longer than your shoulders? No, it’s perfectly resting on them at the moment. Are your nails painted? If so, what colour? Nopes. Do you know anyone else with your name? Two people with the same spelling, four people who share my name in general. Do you think you'll ever get married? Do you want to? I will, I’ll make it happen lol. Which do you prefer: summer or fall? If we had fall, I think I’d like it more because summer’s my least favorite anyway. Who do you care about the most? My friends and my dogs.

A/N:  So... I’m not giving up on #Brettonio anytime soon... I am taking a little break from some of the prompts (just for now, I’ll get back to them in a bit...) but I am going to write a couple different make up stories and maybe the writers of Chicago Fire will catch on and use some of our ideas to put them back together like they belong.  Anyhow... enjoy and please let me know what you think!
WARNING:  This is a tragedy leads to happiness type story... now, please don’t hate me... blame my muse.  Also, language may not suit all readers.  Thanks and Cheers!  Nicole
Sylvie still couldn’t believe what Laura had said to her.  She wouldn’t have cared if Laura had ambushed her at home, or on the street, but at work?  No way.  That was the last straw.  As soon as Laura left, she had texted Antonio to give him the head’s up.  She was livid.  What exactly had Laura meant when she pointed out that Sylvie was blonde?  She was pacing when she noticed Gaby heading to the laundry area.  She took off after her.
“Do you think we’re moving too fast?”
Gaby stared at her, just folding a shirt.  “Um.”
Sylvie knew that hesitation meant yes.  She never got an answer because they got called out.  She sighed.  Her heart was breaking.  She loved Antonio, there was nothing on this planet that could ruin what they had, but she was starting to wonder if he was in the same place as her.
Antonio had gotten Sylvie’s text when he had down time.  He was thankful it was then and not 20 minutes earlier when they were bringing in a less than cooperative witness.  “Fuck!”
Lori, his new partner, jumped.  “Antonio!  What the hell?”
Antonio looked up from his phone.  “Sorry... uh... Sylvie... she got ambushed by my ex at the firehouse... in front of Diego...”
“Shit... Antonio, you should maybe go handle that?  Pretty sure that Stone will understand.”
“As much as I’m sure he would, I don’t need to be taking time off because my ex seems to think she still runs my life even though she walked out on me.”
“What about Sylvie?”
“I’ll go talk to her... I don’t know what I’m supposed to tell her... this whole thing... I warned her when she suggested we go out... she insisted.”
“I’m gonna stop you there, boss...”  Lori put her hand up.  “She insisted because she wants to be with you... pretty sure that feeling is mutual.”
“It is.”
“Then, I suggest you put your ex in her place... because if you tell Sylvie that she knew what she was getting into and all that... she’s gonna deck you and you’re gonna have earned it...”
“You’re telling me to not say the truth?”
“No, Antonio... I’m telling you to side with your girlfriend and not your ex-wife... I met Sylvie... I can tell how much she loves you.”
“We...”
“Haven’t said that yet?”
Antonio glared at his partner.  “Lori.”
“Just... trust me.”
“Fine... I’ll...”  His train of thought derailed when his cell began ringing.  This time it was Laura.  “Seriously?”  He looked to Lori.  “If Stone asks, I’ve got horrible indigestion.”  He took off out of their office and headed to a more secluded area to take this particular call.
“Laura.”  He snapped.  “What do you want?”
“Why was that blonde bitch taking care of our son when that was YOUR job!”  She screeched.
“Because I got called into work and Sylvie was kind enough to help out.”  Antonio wasn’t going to be like her.  He wasn’t going to sink to her level.
“You couldn’t call me?”
“Just for you to hold it over my head later, no thanks.”
“Antonio... she’ll never be good enough.”
“Just what did you tell her?”
“That she should stick to her job.”
“Right.”
“I don’t want her near the kids.”
“I don’t want them near your boyfriends but we can’t always get what we want.”
“Don’t make me call the lawyer again, Antonio...”
“Laura... you took me for everything... you took my children away and you threw away almost 15 years of our lives... you think that you can hurt me even more?”
“You keep that bitch away from our kids, or you’ll never see them again!”
Antonio stared at his phone as it beeped that Laura had ended the call.  He groaned.  He needed to go check on Sylvie, then call his lawyer to get in front of this.
They had just come back from a frustrating call when Sylvie saw Antonio standing on the apparatus floor.  She got out of the ambulance and walked towards him.
Gaby seeing that they were about to go at each other walked between them.  “I’m... gonna... uh go do anything.”
Antonio looked to Sylvie.  “Where do I start... after I’m sorry, I mean?”  He took a deep breath.  “Look... Laura coming down here was uncalled for.  I should never have put you in that position.”
“No... No, you shouldn’t have!”  She reemed into him.  “You... You didn’t think to text me... before your EX-WIFE comes over here... both barrels pointed at me... and... and embarrasses me in front of your son!  In front of everyone I work with!”
Antonio regretted the next words out of his mouth.  “You knew what you were getting into, Sylvie.  I told you from the very beginning.”
“You didn’t tell me that your ex was gonna take all your problems out on me.  She’s clearly not ready for any of this and, neither are you!.
“I really don’t need this right now!  I got enough going on with her and a new job, not I gotta hear it from you?”
Sylvie exhaled sharply.  “You know what!?  It’s probably better you don’t hear it from me anymore.”  She couldn’t stop herself.
“What?!  I... come on, Sylvie!”
“No!  You’re not ready, Antonio!”
Antonio put his hands up.  “Fine... Forget it!  Forget everything.”  He stormed off out of the firehouse.
Sylvie collapsed back against Ambo 61, tears threatening to overwhelm her.  She watched as the man she loved walked away from her.  She looked around to make sure no one saw her before climbing into the back of 61 and breaking down completely.
Sylvie went home to change before joining the others at Molly’s.  Gaby had tried to talk to her and Matt had offered his sympathies.  She knew they were trying but she just wanted to be alone.  She wasn’t in a celebratory mood but she also knew what Severide had been planning, so she had to at least make an appearance.  She grabbed her keys and opened the door only to see Antonio standing there.  “Uh...”
“Hey... um... I’m not good at apologizing, obviously... but I want to say I messed up.  And then I made i... I made it worse.”
Sylvie tried to stop him.  “Antonio... I don’t... need to...”
“Let me finish.”  Antonio insisted, his voice was shaking.  “I think...”  His voice broke.  “I think you deserve better than I can give you.”  He stumbled over his next words.  “I got baggage that’s never going away.  I’ve got a job that’s never gonna be able to put you first... and you deserve first.”
Sylvie’s heart shattered.  She knew what he was telling her.  He was here to say ‘good-bye’.  She took his hand, knowing it was most likely the last time she’d ever feel his touch.  “We were great together.”
Antonio squeezed her hand back.  “We were.”  He wanted to tell her otherwise.  He wanted to tell her that this was all a big misunderstanding and that he would never hurt her or let anyone come between them, but he also knew that if he didn’t do this, Laura would keep coming at her until one day Sylvie would break.  He wouldn’t be able to live with himself if she was broken.  Not if it was his fault for not manning up.
Sylvie sniffled.  She wasn’t going to cry.  She had always known there was a chance of this happening.  “Look...”  She cleared her throat.  “Mayb... Maybe if things with your... with you job settle... and... and everything settles... we coul... we could just check and see?”
Antonio nodded.  “I’d like that.”
Sylvie emotions betrayed her as she said.  “Yeah, me too.”
He wrapped her in his arms one last time, inhaling her scent to get him through the dark days that were ahead.  He wanted to tell her he loved her, and that they just needed a little break, but he couldn’t.  He stroked her cheek, smiled and turned to leave.  He could swear he heard her whisper ‘I love you’ as he walked down the stairs, fighting back the tears that had been building up over the last two hours.
It had been about 8 weeks since Antonio had told her that he couldn’t give her what she deserved.  Sylvie had cried herself to sleep for the first two weeks.  She had seen him at Gaby and Matt’s very belated wedding reception and she swore he was probably hurting too, but she couldn’t tell.  She hadn’t stayed long because Gaby was her friend, she hadn’t wanted to bring down her special night.  Since that night, Stella had taken her out on a variety of girls’ nights and Sylvie had hooked up a couple times but it never got passed that because she’d be thinking of Antonio the whole time.  She told Stella no more hook ups.  She just wanted time to heal.  Her heart had been shattered and it was going to take more than duct tape and crazy glue to fix this problem.  She looked at her alarm clock.  She didn’t want to go to work today.  She had a gut feeling that today was going to be a very bad day.
Antonio sighed.  HIs apartment was empty.  Laura’s plan had worked.  He was miserable again and he’d hurt the woman he loved.  He was on his way to pick Eva and Diego up for the next two weeks since Laura was going on a trip.  He knew the kids knew, but he wasn’t sure what they all knew or what they thought of this.  He pulled up to Laura’s and honked the horn.  He wasn’t going to look Laura in the face after what she’d done.  The kids came running out and got in his truck.  Laura stepped out onto the porch.  He could see her smug smile.  He threw the truck in reverse and got out of there.  He wasn’t giving her another moment of thought.  She’d shattered his heart twice now, he wasn’t giving her anymore satisfaction of the pain she’d caused him.
“Dad?”  Eva asked.
“Yes, Eva.”
“Did you really break up with Sylvie?”
“Eva.”
“Dad!  Why?”
He sighed.  “I’m not discussing this with you.”
Diego whispered to his sister.  “Told you... Mom did this.”
“Dad... seriously?!”  Eva’s voice was getting higher in pitch.  “Why?”
“Eva, we’re not having this discussion.”
“Dad... Sylvie loves you!  You love her!  Why the fuck did you let Mom get between you too!”
“Eva!”  Antonio looked to his daughter.  “Where did you learn that language?”
Eva glared at him.  “THAT’S WHAT’S BOTHERING YOU?  MY LANGUAGE?!”
“Eva!”  Diego didn’t want to get into a car crash because she was fighting with their dad while they were driving.  “Can we just get home before we get killed?”
“Diego, we’re not going to crash... I’ve been driving longer than you guys have been alive.”
“Dad!”  Eva screamed.  “Look out!”
“Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Engine 51... MVA...”
Sylvie groaned.  She had known today was going to be a bad day.  She hated going to these multi-vehicle crashes.  She especially hated them when the weather sucked.  She pulled her tuque down over her ears and prayed that this wasn’t going to be a disastrous mess that would result in a EMS Plan 1.  Those were never good.  “Hey, Gaby...”
“Yeah?”
Sylvie was very tempted to ask about Antonio, but she didn’t want to seem like she wasn’t over him.  “How’s things with you and Matt?”
Gaby arched an eyebrow.  “Is that really your question?”
“Yeah.”
“Uh huh.”  Gaby didn’t buy it.  “We’re great.  Antonio is miserable though.”
Sylvie’s head snapped to face her partner.  “What’s Antonio got to do with this?”
“Come on, Brett... we both know exactly why you took ended it and it wasn’t because your relationship wasn’t working... it was because of Laura... you can admit that.”
“Gaby, it’s been two months... he obviously is over it because he hasn’t called or texted... he barely says hi if we bump into each other.”
“You think he’s... oh my God!”  Gaby laughed.  “You guys are impossible.  He thinks you’re over him because you went on a couple girls’ nights with Stella... you think he’s over you because he won’t talk to you... I give up.”
“You’re seriously telling me that he cares?  That he hurts because of this?”
“Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m telling you.”  Gaby didn’t go on because they’d arrived on the scene and it was a disaster.  She grabbed her radio.  “Main... send more people... we’ve got a couple semis in this mess along with about 10 other vehicles... and there’s a bus too...”
“Roger that 61.”
“Where do we even start?”  Sylvie asked.
“I have no idea.”
Sylvie radioed to Boden.  “Chief...  where do you want us?”
“We’re trying to figure out where the most injured are... I heard you guys called Main?”
“Had to Chief... we can’t do this alone.”
“Yeah.”  Chief’s response sounded like how this situation look, bleak.
Two hours in and the majority of the crash was cleaned up.  Sylvie and Gaby had been charged with Triage while other paramedics brought the victims to Med.  There had been two DOAs.  One was suspected to have caused the crash and from the bruising on his chest, Sylvie was guessing he’d had a massive heart attack .  Tow trucks had been pulling vehicles apart and hauling them away.  Sylvie sighed.  So far, the injuries had been pretty minor, but there was one hockey player on the bus that was most likely going to lose his arm below the elbow from being pinned in too long.  Sylvie and Gaby started doing inventory of what they’d need to restock up on after the scene was released.
“Hey!  Guys!  Over here!”  Cruz shouted.  “There’s a truck that went through the guard rail!”
Sylvie and Gaby looked around.  They were the last ambulance on scene.  This patient was theirs.  They grabbed the gurney and the jump bag and ran towards the scene.  Otis and Cruz were repositioning their trucks to use ropes if necessary.  The others were grabbing equipment and ladders.  Severide and Casey were the first two that went down to assess the scene.
“How bad is it?”  Sylvie asked Herrmann, who with Mouch, was staying topside to send down equipment or pull things up as needed.
“Looks like the truck went through the guardrail sideways... We can see light inside the truck... I’m going to go with there’s more than one person down there.”
“We don’t have anymore ambos.”  Gaby said to Chief.
“Depending on injuries, we can put one in my vehicle, or in squad.  Just wait and see... this may be another miracle.  We’ve seen our share of those tonight.”
Gaby and Sylvie waited anxiously.
“Jesus Christ!”  Severide’s voice came over their radios.  “Chief... we’ve got a big problem!”
“What is it, Severide?”
“It’s... It’s Antonio and the kids...”
Gaby’s heart dropped and Sylvie stumbled backwards.
“Kelly... you sure?”
“Yeah, Chief.”  Matt came through.  “Look, they seem okay... can we get the Stokes basket down though.  Looks like Eva may have a broken ankle.”
Sylvie gasped.  As much as the breakup hurt her, she would never want Antonio’s children to hurt.  “How are the other injuries?”
“Diego’s got a bad seatbelt bruise and probably a concussion... Antonio says he’s fine and wants to walk out of here.”
“Don’t you let him!”  Gaby snapped.  “They all come up in a Stokes basket so we can assess them.”
“You got it!”  Kelly said.
Their radios stayed open.  They could hear Antonio protesting, then demanding that the kids be taken care of first.
Chief looked to his two paramedics.  He knew that this was not protocol, but there were no more ambos available and he knew that they’d already been down there for over 2 hours.  He’d have to keep an eye on them.  Gaby was Antonio’s sister, but Sylvie still had feelings for him, even though she tried to deny it.
“Bring her up!”  Casey shouted up.
Mouch and Herrmann pulled the Stokes basket up one of the ladders.  Sylvie and Gaby rushed to the edge with the stretcher.  Sylvie almost died when she was the heap of crumpled metal that had once been Antonio’s truck.  She tried to keep it together.  Gaby was losing it as she helped put her niece onto the gurney.
“Eva!”  Gaby exclaimed.
“Tia Gaby!”  Eva reached for her aunt.
Gaby bent down and hugged her.  “Eva... where does it hurt?”
“My ankle more than anything... I don’t know how, but it got pinned under the glove box.”  Eva groaned.  “My head hurts a little bit, but... Dad... I have to make sure he’s okay.”
Sylvie focused her attention on Eva’s ankle.  “Eva, they’re gonna get your dad and Diego out and everything’s going to be okay.”  She saw that Eva’s ankle was most definitely broken.  “Okay, we’re gonna give you something for the pain... and we’ll get you in the ambulance where it’s warm.”
Mouch and Herrmann were sending the basket back down.  Soon, Diego was up.  He was definitely not the worse off of the bunch.  Sylvie checked him to make sure he didn’t have too severe of a concussion.  He was going to be okay to be transported to Med in Chief’s vehicle.
“Antonio!”  Matt’s voice shouted.  “You!  Get!  Someone grab him!”
Sylvie spun around to see Antonio pulling himself up the ladder.  Gaby was still securing Eva’s ankle.  She ran to him and grabbed him by the shoulder.  “What the hell are you doing?”
“Climbing up the ladder.”  Antonio wasn’t surprised to see Sylvie.  She was 51′s PIC.  “The kids.”
Sylvie shook her head.  She wanted to punch him for not letting the guys bring him up.  “Are fine.  I need to check you over.”
“I want to see the kids.”  Antonio tried to push her away.
“Gaby’s got Eva... Chief has Diego, now... sit here and let me check you over... you don’t... you’ll have bigger problems than your truck being over the edge.”
Antonio groaned and sat.  He answered all her questions and checked out.
“Care to tell me what happened?”
“Sure... after I know the kids are okay.”  Antonio got up.
“Antonio!”  Sylvie grabbed his shoulders.  “YOU JUST CRASHED YOUR TRUCK THROUGH A GODDAMN GUARDRAIL!  SIT STILL AND LET ME CHECK YOU OUT!”
Antonio froze.  This was the most they’d interacted since that night 2 months prior.  She was more pissed now than when Laura had ambushed her.  He sat back down and let her finish her exam.
“Does it hurt anywhere?”
“My head but I did take an airbag to the face.  Otherwise, I feel fine... considering.”
Casey was coming up and ran to them.  “Antonio!  What the hell happened?”
“Uh... I was arguing... with Eva about her swearing then Diego told us to stop because he didn’t want to get in a crash... I told him I’d been driving longer... than they’d been alive... then Eva screamed and I had to avoid that mess... and I hit ice... you saw the result.”
“You’re damn lucky.”  Matt patted his shoulder.  “You’ll need someone to pull the wreckage up, but otherwise... I think we’re good to go, Chief.”
Boden nodded.  He was standing between Ambo 61, his buggy and Sylvie.  He was keeping an eye on everything.  Stella had gone to stay with Diego.  Gaby had finished splinting Eva’s ankle and had signalled to Sylvie to bring Antonio.  He could ride with them.
“Look, let’s get you to Med...”  Sylvie offered her hand to him.  “Get all of you checked out...”
Antonio wanted to say he could do it himself, but he could see the worry in her eyes.  He had hurt her once already, he wasn’t about to hurt her again.  He took it and let her help him up.  They were halfway too 61 when Antonio groaned and collapsed to the ground.
“Antonio!”  Sylvie dropped next to him.
“DAD!”  Eva screamed.
Diego ran from Chief’s vehicle.  “Dad!  Dad!”
Gaby was stuck.  She had to keep her niece from hurting herself more, but she wanted to be there to help her brother.  “Antonio!  Brett!  What the hell’s happening?!”
“Get me a monitor!” Brett shouted.
Cruz was closest to 61.  He grabbed the portable monitor and booked it towards Antonio and Brett.
Sylvie had ripped open Antonio’s jacket and shirt.  She grabbed the pads and placed them on his chest.  She muttered a few choice words as she saw the tachycardia on the monitor.  She was about to cardiovert him when she noticed the bruising on his chest and abdomen.  “Get Eva into another vehicle!  We need to transport him by ambulance.  He’s got horrible bruising from the steering wheel hitting him in the chest and abdomen!”  She looked to Cruz and Severide.  “Get that gurney here... NOW!”  She looked to Antonio.  He was wheezing.  She grabbed the O2 tank and put a mask over his face.  “Hang on, Antonio... please.”
They moved Eva to buggy with Diego.  Stella was going to ride with them.  Chief headed out.  Squad and Truck were going to follow 61 to Med.  Gaby was driving and Sylvie was focused on keeping Antonio alive.
Sylvie had started an IV and increased his oxygen flow.  She knew that his heart rate wasn’t normal and his blood pressure was too low.  She did a closer physical exam.  Antonio had a couple crushed ribs and she strongly suspected that he had internal bleeding.  He was in and out of consciousness.
“How’s he doing?”
“I don’t know, Gaby.”  Sylvie sighed.  “He’s got crushed ribs... pretty sure there’s some internal bleeding... I’m... just get us there.”
Gaby pushed the gas pedal down more.  They were about 10 minutes from Med still.
Sylvie felt a tear slide down her cheek.  She took his hand and leaned in.  “Come on, Antonio... you can’t do this.”
Antonio’s eyes briefly fluttered open before his blood pressure plummeted and he began to code.
“ANTONIO!”  Sylvie screamed.  “Gaby, he’s coding!”  She knew that he needed CPR but she also knew his ribs were already crushed.  She started CPR, cringing as she heard his ribs cracking.  “Antonio!  Don’t you dare die on me!”  She screamed at him.  “I can’t lose you!  Not again!”
“We’re almost there!”  Gaby turned 61 into the Med Ambulance Bay.
“Antonio!”  Sylvie was sobbing.  “I love you and I swear to God if you die on me, I’ll bring you back and kill you myself!”
The back doors opened and Ethan and Will were both pulling the gurney out.  Sylvie was still on it, pounding on Antonio’s chest.  She barked his condition.  “Suspecting Myocardial Contusion.  Multiple broken ribs.  He started crashing 5 minutes ago.”
“Sylvie, we’ve got this.”  Ethan helped her off as Will jumped in to take over the CPR.  “Page Dr. Rhodes!”  He looked to Sylvie.  “What happened?”
“He tried to avoid that multi-vehicular crash, hit ice and sent his truck through a guardrail...”  Sylvie was hyperventilating, tears streaming down her face.  “I... Ethan... save him... please?”
“He’s got the best working on him... the kids are okay... I’ll get Maggie to take you and Gaby to them... they’ve been asking for you guys.”
“Uh...”
Gaby grabbed her by the elbow.  “Let’s go.”
Sylvie turned back as she watched Connor prep Antonio for a pericardiocentesis.
Antonio had been rushed upstairs for surgery to stop some of the bleeding and repair the damage to his heart.  Sylvie and Gaby had stayed with the kids.  Eventually, Camila Dawson joined them in waiting.  Gaby had told the kids that they should call their mother, but they refused.  They didn’t want her around.  After Eva’s ankle had been set and casted, they waited in the waiting area.
“Eva, can you explain to me what exactly happened?”  Gaby asked.
Eva sighed.  “Dad came to pick us up... he won’t come to the door anymore.  He’s so mad at Mom... I... I asked if it was really over between him and Sylvie.”
Sylvie’s head jerked up.  She didn’t say anything.  She didn’t want to make the situation worse.  She just listened.  Camila squeezed her hand.
“Okay...”
Eva sobbed as she told them that she’d been yelling at Antonio before the crash happened.  “It’s all my fault.”
Sylvie didn’t know what got into her but she rushed to Eva’s side.  “Eva, no!”  She pulled Eva into a hug.  “This isn’t on you, don’t... don’t think that.”
“But... I was the one yelling at him... and getting mad because you guys broke up.”
Sylvie looked Eva in the eyes.  “We’re taking a break... until things settle down with work and with... with stuff with your mom.”
“She’s the reason!”  Eva exclaimed.  “Diego told me what she did a couple months ago... it’s... it’s like she can’t let Dad be happy.”
“Eva... I care about your dad... a lot... If it works out that we can get back together... we will, but... his priority is you guys and that’s what’s important.”
“Sylvie... Dad... and you... deserve to be happy.”  Diego piped up.  “I... I’m sorry.”
Sylvie cocked her head to the side.  “Why are you apologizing to me?”
“Because... I told Mom I was at the firehouse... I’m the reason she ambushed you... I... I didn’t think she’d come and do that... she asked where Dad had taken me and I told her the truth.”
Gaby hugged her nephew tightly.  “Diego... you had no idea what was going to happen.”
“But...”
“Diego, Eva...”  Sylvie put her hands up.  “Neither of you is to blame for what happened... okay... I promise you that.”
“So you’re not mad at us?”  Diego asked.
“No... no I am most definitely not mad at you guys.”  She smiled.  “I’ve missed you guys though.”
Eva whispered.  “Did you miss Dad too?”
Sylvie sighed.  “Yeah... I have.”
“He misses you too, ya know.”  Diego piped up.  “I... I never saw Dad cry before... not since Jules was killed and I was kidnapped.  He cried after...”
Sylvie’s heart had taken a beating in the last couple months but it was breaking all over again.  “Guys...”
“If... could you talk to him... tell him...”  Eva froze.  “MOM?”
Sylvie bolted to her feet and spun around.  “What the hell are YOU doing here?”
Laura stood frozen in the family waiting area that they had been brought to until Antonio was brought to his room from surgery.  “I... I came to pick up my kids... what the hell are you doing here?!”
Sylvie stormed up to her.  This time she was more than ready for her.  She slapped her so hard it echoed in the small room.  Camila gasped and Gaby got up to pull them apart, but Diego held her back.
Laura went to hit Sylvie back but Sylvie blocked it, remembering the training Antonio had given her a while back.  “Don’t you dare!”  Sylvie screeched.  “You’ve done nothing but hurt Antonio... you don’t belong here.”
“Those are my kids.”  Laura’s hand was still rubbing her cheek where Sylvie’s hand had struck her.  “I’m taking them home.”
“We don’t want to leave.”  Eva snapped.  “We’re not leaving until Dad’s going to be okay.”
“Eva, you don’t get a say in this.”  Laura glared at her first born.  “You’re both coming home with me.”
“No!”  Diego bolted up.  “NO!”
“Diego, you will come with me... and when I get home... you won’t have to worry about your father trying to kill you ever again!”  Laura grabbed for Diego but Sylvie intervened.
“You get your ass out of this hospital.  Eva and Diego are staying here.”
“You don’t get to say anything to me about how I handle my children.”  Laura was pissed, but nowhere near as pissed as Sylvie.
“They’re not property... you... you’re the fucking reason this whole thing started... so get the hell out or I’ll have them throw you out!”  Sylvie gestured to the three people standing in the doorway.
There stood Jay Halstead and Kevin Atwater alongside Peter Stone.
“I’m not leaving without my children.”
Stone stepped into the room.  “You are...”
“Who the hell are you?”  Laura snapped.
“Peter Stone... Assistant State’s Attorney and Antonio’s boss... I know who you are Laura... and I know the hell you’ve put him through... so, here.”  He thrust an envelope into her hands.  “That is a court order forbidding you from being anywhere near Antonio as well as a new order of custody stating that Antonio has custody.”
“No judge would sign off on that.”  Laura ripped the envelope open to read the documents.
“Oh, one did... see... last time the kids were here, they asked to speak to a judge concerning who they’d rather live with... you or Antonio... they chose him over you.”
Laura’s jaw dropped as she read the contents.  “No... no way... I’ll fight this.”
“Go ahead... but it won’t be today.”  Stone motioned to Jay and Kevin.  “Get her out of her.  Now!”
Once Laura was out of sight, Peter turned to face the others.  “Eva, Diego... you guys okay?”
“My ankle is broken.”  Eva motioned to the cast.  “I’m... I just want to know if Dad’s okay.”
“Can Mom fight that?”  Diego asked.
Peter nodded.  “She can try, but you’re both old enough to make that choice.  Do you need anything... other than news on your dad?”
They shook their heads.  “We’ll be okay... Tia Gaby is here, Abuela... and Sylvie.”
Stone nodded.  “Okay, well if that changes, you let me know... okay... I’ll do whatever I can to help...  I’m gonna go make some calls, and I’ll come check on you guys in a bit.”  He motioned to Sylvie.  “Can I talk to you for a quick minute?”
“I’ll be right back guys.”  Sylvie told the kids.  She followed Stone out into the hallway.  “Um, hi.”
“Hi, Sylvie.”  Peter smiled.  “How are you holding up?”
“I’m fine... you do know that we’re not...”
“I know, Antonio told me... and since that night he’s thrown himself solely to work unless the kids were down.  He’s a great investigator... and I’m all for him doing his job... but he’s pushing himself too hard because he doesn’t have you in his life anymore.”
“Peter...”
“Sylvie, please hear me out?”  Stone asked.  “I’ve gotten to know Antonio these past few months.  When you guys were together, he was happy and now... not so much... now I have a pretty good idea as to what happened, but I’m not to judge.  Considering what’s happened tonight... and the look of terror you have on your face, I’d like to think that you still care for him.”
“I love him... Peter... that never... never changed.”  Sylvie’s voice quaked.  “I almost died when he collapsed on the scene... hell... I told him that if he died, I’d bring him back only to kill him myself... But... I can’t force him to want me back.”
Peter patted her shoulder.  “I don’t think that you can force that.  Go be with the kids... I’ll be around.”
Sylvie nodded and wiped a tear from her cheek before going back into the family waiting area.
What seemed like hours passed.  Diego fell asleep on Gaby’s shoulder, while Eva and Sylvie were playing a game on Sylvie’s phone.  Camila had paced the room a couple times before finally settling into a chair and flipping through a variety of magazines.  Chief and Stone, as well as other members of 51 and Intelligence came to check in.  They still had no word on how Antonio was doing.
In the wee hours of the morning, Connor Rhodes slipped into the waiting area.  Everyone but Sylvie had dozed off.  She bolted up when she saw him.  “Connor...”  Her lip was quivering.  “Please... is...”
Connor put a hand on her shoulder.  “Sylvie, breathe... Antonio’s just been moved to recovery.  It was touch and go a bit... but, he pulled through.”
“What... can... can you tell me?”  Sylvie sniffled.
“He has you as one of his emergency contacts.  I can tell you everything.”  Connor led her outside into the hall and they walked towards Antonio’s room.  “You were right on the myocardial contusion... broken ribs... internal bleeding.  We had to repair the damage to his lung that had collapsed and well... we had to ultimately remove his spleen... but otherwise, he’s going to be okay.”
“Splenectomy and myocardial contusion don’t... Connor...”
“Sylvie... I know for a fact that you’re overanalyzing everything, so how about you start focusing less on being a paramedic, and more on being a civilian whose boyfriend is going to need a lot of help during recovery.”
“Connor... wait... what... no... Antonio... we broke up... 2 months ago... I...”
Connor sighed.  “Yeah... Sylvie... I know that... I also know that he still loves you... and I can see the love you have for him... So... he’s just coming around now... and he’s been asking for you.”
“Me?”
“You are Sylvie, aren’t you?”  Connor gave her a wry grin.
“Not funny.”
Connor slid the door open.  “Be gentle on him.”
Sylvie nodded.  “Can... can you let the others know?”
“Yep.”  Connor slid the door closed behind her.
Sylvie made her way slowly to the bedside.  Antonio looked asleep.  He was surrounded by wires and tubes.  She brushed away the tears that threatened to fall and sat in the chair next to the bed.  She didn’t know if she should take his hand or not, but out of instinct, she did.  She wept as she held his hand.  “Antonio...”
Antonio’s eyes fluttered.  He felt someone’s hand in his own.  He blinked his eyes a few times to adjust to the light.  He looked over and saw that Sylvie was sitting next to his bed, sobbing.  He didn’t understand.  Why was she still here?  He remembered asking for her, but didn’t think she’d come.  He squeezed her hand.  “Sylvie?”
Sylvie’s head bolted up.  “Oh God!”
“You’re here.”
She nodded.  “I... I was so scared.”
“Why?”
“Because I thought I’d lost you for good!”
“But...”
“No buts... Antonio... I... I...”
He squeezed her hand again.   “I screwed up.”
“What?”
“I screwed up... I let you go... I thought... I thought I did what was best... and I hurt you... and the kids... and I’ve been...”  He coughed.  “I’ve been miserable since that night.”
“I’ve heard...”  Sylvie wiped her tears away.  “Stone told me... Lori told me... the kids told me... even your mother told me.”
“Stone?  Lori?  My... mother... what?”  Antonio was confused.  “Why are they all here?”
“Because they’re worried about you.”  Sylvie sighed.  “Like I was... like I still am.”
“I vaguely remember you threatening to bring me back to life and kill me yourself if I died on you.”
“I did make that threat.”  Sylvie laughed lightly.  “Antonio... I almost lost you... the kids almost lost you.”
“I’m not going anywhere...”  He reached up and stroked her cheek.  “I’ve missed you.”
“I missed you too... so much.”
“I think... I think we need to stop waiting for things to settle...”  Antonio took her hand and kissed it.  “I... I can’t not have you in my life anymore, Sylvie.  I need... I would...”
“Antonio...”  She got up and kissed him softly.
“I shouldn’t have pushed... I should’ve fought for you...”  Antonio’s voice broke.  “I want to... fix this... somehow... I don’t think I can be without you anymore.”
“So, you needed a near-death experience to see that Sylvie’s the best thing for you?”  Diego’s voice came from the doorway.
Sylvie snorted.  “I guess he did.”
Gaby wheeled Eva into the room.  “I’ll be back in a bit... I think you guys have bigger things to discuss than me yelling at Antonio again for almost getting killed for a very stupid reason.”
“My love life is not a stupid reason...”  Antonio glared at her.
“I’ll be back later...”  Gaby waved as she left the room.
“Dad... I’m so sorry.”  Eva was crying.  “I shouldn’t have yelled...”
“No, Eva... I’m sorry... I shouldn’t have gotten so worked up... I probably should’ve listened to you guys a little more... how you felt about all this.”  Antonio sighed.  “Are you guys okay?”
“Better now that we know you’re okay.”  Diego smiled.  “By the way, your new boss is awesome.”
“Stone was here?”  Antonio looked to Sylvie.
She nodded.  “Yep.”
“Mom showed up.”  Eva whispered.
“She... what did she want?”  Antonio’s heart rate began to go up.  Sylvie squeezed his hand to keep him calmer.
“To take us home... but Sylvie wouldn’t let her... then your boss showed up with a restraining order against her and papers that say we get to live with you now.”
“He actually did that?”  Antonio leaned back into his pillow.  “I thought he was just saying that to appease you two.”
“Well, he did... Atwater and Jay escorted her out.”  Sylvie said.  “I hit her... you should be aware of that.”
“Oh boy.”  Antonio groaned.
“Dad... I think you... you should tell her the truth.”  Diego said.
“I’m trying to... but I keep getting all these interruptions.”  Antonio laughed.  “Oh... ow... maybe I don’t laugh.”
“Probably a good idea... considering.”  Sylvie smiled.
“Sylvie... can... can we try again... I know we’ll have to work... and I... I love you... I don’t want to do this anymore... I don’t want to just function in life... I want to live again... with you in my life.”
Sylvie couldn’t help herself.  She broke down.  “I want this too... so bad... I... I never stopped loving you.”
Antonio pulled her into his arms, mindful of his injuries.  “I won’t be making you cry ever again... well... except happy tears.”
“Does this mean you two are gonna go out again?”  Eva asked.
“Yeah... it does.”
“Thank God!”  She exclaimed.  “Sylvie... thank you.”
“For?”
“Making our dad happy... making this right again.”
Antonio nodded.  “I’m just happy we all got out of this more or less in one piece.”
The four of them burst into laughter.  They knew they had a long road ahead of them and that Laura may yet rear her ugly head again, but they were going to weather that storm and any other thing that may get thrown their way together.
A/N:  Well?  Whatta ya think?  Let me know!  All the best and more to come soon!  Cheers, Nicole
