so, i will say that, in My Youth (trademark), i def was very anti daddy kink because it was just so often used in ways that I did Not vibe with (like the inherent infantilization of one character and also the fact that when they used it w/ Ashton they always made him super dominant and borderline abusive and like :( that is not my man i have never seen that man before in my life). so, like, i think it's a valid question because there's a bit of ~nuance~ to it.

i also tend to not use it in my fics bc 1) while I'm not anti daddy kink, it's def not something that i personally seek out so i don't really have a desire to include it and 2) i know it can be very polarizing and i don't want to potentially make an otherwise very run of the mill fic inaccessible for someone. honestly, i think the only fic I have up right now that really talks about daddy kink is Made in Magnolia?? bc Cal has one. i will say tho, this ask kind of made me want to try my hand at including it in smthn.

i really do, at my core, think that almost any kink (with a few exceptions) can be written well !! and I'm never opposed to trying one out in writing :)

from someone who does a lot of math and reads a lot of explanations I find lacking, here are my thoughts:

sometimes a concept that is common sense in your head is over explained on paper because that language framework is going to be theoretically reused for much harder concepts that need that complex framework. multiplying matrices is not difficult, but if you don't learn from the ground up the terminology that's standard, you're going to get real confused real fast.

it's not all about teaching the math, it's about teaching how to think and read about the math in the way we've all agreed to, because otherwise, again, math people will get really confused down the line.

for example, in my fluid mechanics class, I struggle a lot Because my professor writes very simplified explanations and doesn't include all the definitions and proper terminology. I'm left scrambling to figure out what variables mean and what the question is asking. you need to be able to find as close a universal way as possible to express ur math thoughts, which means no room for ambiguity and it works all the way up to the hardest math possible.

unfortunately, this means that the casualty is the readability of math textbooks, which sucks, but having experienced the reverse, holy shit it's not fun

Yeah that's important but I don't think this is an appropriate way of doing it. Anything being taught should actually be taught and scaled up as things become more complicated but they are straight up not . they are not teaching it. I also don't think the surrounding vocabulary they're using is necessary to be accurate I'm just not convinced. Obviously the notation is necessary, but their explanation of their notation on the last few pages was really terrible \(.-.)/

#but yeah nah your prof should explain everything that you need to know to solve the problems especially if it builds in the future thats not #not the vibe #im sorry :(

also my availability was approved by another manager (aka my favourite manager) so I should not have shifts on those days so guess I gotta speak to him tomorrow bc I literally CANNOT work on those days and if he tries to talk me into working them I’m unafraid to cry and make a scene and put it up to uni stress

if he’s awkward about it I will go to my other manager bc she’s so much more accommodating for me as a uni student than anyone else is
