Ghost x gn reader
Here, have some platonic fluff. I just had the worst milkshake and I can still taste it- to be fair, I was warned
It all started with a craving. The desire, no, need for a milkshake was getting to you, but you didn't have any regular ice cream.
Ghost stood behind you in the kitchen as you checked the freezer, again.
"I wonder if a banana mint chocolate chip milkshake would be any good?" you wonder out loud.
"Sounds horrible. Wouldn't recommend it, love. I'll get some vanilla ice cream tomorrow and we can make a milkshake then," he says, leaning against the counter.
You glare playfully at him in response, not willing to back down just yet. "C'mon, don't knock it 'till you try it! You're such a hater," you huff.
Too tired to argue, Ghost rolls his eyes at you. "Alright, you win. We'll make the bloody milkshake." He sighs in defeat.
Gleefully, you grab the pint of mint chocolate ice cream, milk, and bananas. In hindsight, it was a horrible combination.
With the monstrosity successfully created, you pour a glass for yourself. You glance at Ghost, who is giving you some serious side eye right now.
"Want some?" You offer.
"I'd rather not," he says bluntly. That doesn't stop him from grabbing a mug and pouring himself just a little bit of it.
He raises the bottom half of his mask to take a sip. He immediately regrets the decision, a small grimace flashing across his face.
You take a sip as well.
It's bad. Worse than you thought. It smells strange and tastes worse- not that you'd ever admit it to Ghost.
"It's not that bad." You sigh, glancing at Ghost's reaction. "Like I said, you're just a hater!"
He raises an eyebrow at you. "It's all yours, love. I'm not gonna fight you for it." He lifts his hands in mock surrender.
Later, you're both sitting on the couch. You convinced him to watch the barbie moving with you, not that he was particularly paying attention to it.
You sigh, and he looks over at you.
"Somethin' the matter?" He grunts.
"It's the fucking milkshake! I can still taste it! It was awful, why did you let me drink that?" you rant at him, feigning annoyance.
He crosses his arms at you and gives you an 'I told you so' look.
"Don't say I didn't warn you," he chuckles.
The next day, you're much happier after having a normal milkshake with vanilla ice cream.

uenominako i let my intrusive thoughts win and didn't regret it for once! it was time for a much needed personal growth 💖 lately i've been thinking about how much i've changed over the years and how many things i've gone through. the person i saw in the mirror was familiar, yet she didn't feel like me anymore. she was still that excited little girl who moved to the big city on her own to see the world and realized things weren't that simple. the little girl that had to learn to fall down and pick herself back up again over and over, but that always refused to give up. i have every love in the world for her, but it was time to let her go. the road to healing and self-love is long and never-ending, but i'm proud of how far i've come. now, i wanted the outside to also reflect this new version of me, forever a beautiful work in progress, as it should be.

If you don't find harrow as interesting to discuss as the other characters I totally understand, but I have been dying to find meta from people much smarter than me about the paragraph from Crux in NtN: "Lady,..you've gone away again, my lady; where have you run?...Who are you this time, if not my Lady Harrowhark?" (pg 459, hardcover) Have you seen any? I'm surprised I haven't seen it mentioned more, but the NtN has a ton to talk about so
oh! well, i certainly do find harrow, gideon, ianthe, and so on very interesting. i just happen to have a specific illness that makes me very sure i remember almost everything mercymorn and augustine & co have said, and much easier to discuss.
that is a fascinating little moment! it strikes me as something that is hard to write meta about, per se, because it refers to something concrete that the author clearly knows but hasn't quite surfaced in the realm of the novel. it's harder to analyze, though potent for speculation! depending on how much you trust crux and his read of harrow's childhood, it certainly suggests a pattern of dissociation or hiding. (again, not enough there for me to call it evidence, but it feels in line with, say, discussions of harrow as a person with schizophrenia? i've seen some thoughtful pieces on that before, though i'm not able to link to any off the top of my head.) it's a brief window into harrow's childhood that harrow herself may not be able to recognize and gideon, in gtn, certainly would not have been privy to. crux's rhetoric, though superficially soothing, is also, perhaps, a way of seeing the different ways harrow came to understand her profound duty to the ninth.
i think what i feel certain about re: that moment is it very clearly sets up context for crux's interactions with gideon/kiriona, which strike me as the primary dramatic purpose for crux's return. the comparison between moment of (as best as he can manage anyway/undeniably twisted) tenderness and reaffirmation and the way crux treats paul (crotchety/resentful to outsiders) and gideon (undeterred, spiteful hatred) remind us a) the initial dynamics gideon/harrow were steeped in (and possibly how far they have or haven't come?) and b) how lmao deeply vile and personal crux's hatred for gideon is. it's that "why doesn't it feel good" that is, within nona, still the showstopper for me. (crux being a mutation of a father figure is important there, for sure.)
if there was something more you had on your mind, i'd love to hear it! but considering those paragraphs without any further context... to me, they're wonderful bits of colour, but not necessarily enough on their own to suggest much. possibly there will be more to them in alecto -- also possibly it refers to something that will never make the narrative!? however, if people have cool thoughts please link them in he replies.

Crowley: *already hates the whole idea of the Apocalypse before there's even an Earth with Queen songs and James Bond car stickers and people to lose, starts questioning and getting into trouble when told all the beautiful things he may not have come up with the concept for but still worked hard on will be destroyed before they can even reach their full potential just because Heaven doesn't really think they have value in themselves rather than merely as part of some greater plan and he can't even suggest that's a ridiculously dumb idea*
Also Crowley: *literally gets tasked with making sure the Antichrist gets to the right family so the Apocalypse can start and be as big and destructive as possible some 6000 years after he started hanging with the wrong crowd and vaguely sauntering away from the 'right' one and its ridiculously dumb decisions in the name of greater plans*
