I think to this day it is the single most often-used thing I ever posted on tumblr. I frequently have people telling me they used it, or it was helpful to them.

the internet is heckin' weird.

It has received 41 notes.

This teaches us three things: (1) useful ≠ successful on tumblr dot com, and (2) haplotype networks are extremely unintuitive and hard to understand, and some Master's student in 2014 apparently wrote the only useful guide out there to understanding them, and (3) somehow google indexes tumblr REALLY well. Like, too well. Which would explain why i also constantly get messages asking me for permission to use photos I have rebagled.

Tuck Me In and Walk Among Dreams

You can tell the paper had been expensive, thick even. A twist of black ribbon tied to the hole punched on top of it. Words, bold and serif simply said: “Tuck Me In and Walk Among Dreams.” At the back was a drawing of the bookmark pointed at a book and a person tucking the book under their pillow. A small bubble indicated the person was now dreaming of the book.

Or you may have found a magic bookmark and found yourself facing the same thing over and over again.

You were in an antique shop; the smell of the old and aged tastes sweet in your mouth.

Alas, you’re only window shopping. Money was tight, so you settled on gazing or tracing objects you knew you’d never trace again. Not unless you return with that sweet, sweet cash.

Yet, in the end it was not the old books, rusted furniture and things tied together by strings that caught your eye. In fact if you were a little more discerning you would have missed it all together.

In a box, tucked away and piled with old notes and letters long forgotten, you saw it.

It was a bookmark.

Interesting…but also…

It was unremarkable: you have seen better, prettier bookmarks – made of gems and gold and deft fingers to mark a pause in your book. Hell, even the words sounded corny but as you twisted and turned the thing, something screamed for you to buy it.

It was ridiculous. It was a bookmark.

But it cost only one dollar.

So you bought it. If the cashier judged you for such a pittance of a purchase they didn’t say a word. Despite it costing you nothing, they tucked the little bookmark into an envelope – for safe keeping, you supposed.

You placed the envelope into your bag and then like most impulse purchases, forgot completely about it.

You dreamed of a being surrounded by light and glass and it’s cold. A man comes and demands.

“Give me youth, power, immortality.”

“I cannot. They are not mine to give. Let me go.” You said calmly, like a teacher educating a rather slow and dim child. He’d snarl and leave but you remain locked up. You’d cry, the tears felt hot on your cheeks, your breath steamed the glass so you did not notice.

You’d wake up just as the reflection cries back at you.

Work was a tiring slog that ensures you have food and house above your head. You look forward to going home, to read or watch or listen to songs each day. You accepted this was now your reality, you had come to terms with it – to do otherwise was insanity.

“Have you read the Sandman comics?” your colleague asked. He was one of those men – cheery and childlike even as three decades approached him. You don’t mind it – in this day and age it seemed as if everyone had either retained that childlike wonders – you think it’s because all those adult milestones have become near impossible to achieve.

“Just a volume here and there,” you said, remembering the time you checked for online scans when the show was announced.

“Did you finish it?”

“Not really but since the show’s coming on…”

Why tf can't I block a tag from a handy menu on Tumblr mobile? No, I have to remember (or write down if I'm desperate) the exact spelling and capitalization of the tag, dig three layers deep into menus, and type in the tag over there.

Cause it's not like I can even copy a tag on mobile. That would be too handy (but still nowhere near the convenience of a block option in a tag page menu).

I was looking up pictures of the Spinosaurus for some art references and idea’s and kept coming across a bunch of plushes. Now it’s time we rate all 10 of them.

Let’s get started...

This is a fairly standard Spino. Head tilted up to the sky, begging the DinoGod for the fiery death. Anatomically correct, more or less, a fair 9/10. lacks aquatic features (and pointy toes)

Next we got Snub Nose Barrel Bob. Kinda looks like someone made a bad t-rex plush and stitched half a sea shell on it’s back. 6/10 it at least looks happy inside.

Here we got the Green Bean. This one’s another fairly standard Spino, fairly anatomically correct- except for the eyes on it’s neck. 8/10 that scale plush pattern is pretty cool.

This. Is a beautiful baby. The anatomy, the noes, the spines, the colors, and that pure and gentle face. 10/10 a flawless creation. (100/10 would snuggle)

This is a demon spawn from the eldritch realm. A broken fetus of a plush. -10/10 it’s single embroidered eye makes jagged cuts inside of my very soul...

Thank the stars, it’s the Velocaspino. It’s screams can reach beyond the seas and him big toe beans will crush your enemies. Not sure what the FUCK is going on with his hands/fingers?? 10/10 though, he saved my children from the elder demon above.

Now it’s finally time for the Jazzy Three. A tiny trio of Compy sized Spino babies looking over their shoulder like the smooth criminals they are. 3/3 keep on rockin you funky lil dudes.

Dragon Ball Z Dragon met the Spinosaurus and made a beautiful, soft and cuddly baby. With a big, toothy smile to reassure you, a large sail to surf the waves and cool you with shade and some pointy grabbers. This perfect example of a Spino is a 10/10 from me.

Idk who made this but it looks hand made and I’m impressed with that. I honestly love the stitching, making her look like a stunning, giant reptilian, representation of those cute zombie girls in those Tim Burton claymations. Such a stunning pose, a big mouth for devouring those who defy her, a flashy pattern of colors... 10/10 someone get this girl on the cover of Vogue.

Finally, I bring to you the Anime Spino. Everything about this colorful, soft friend is great but the anime eyes make me oddly uncomfortable. Those pointy toes and teeth are fantastic, wide open arms in a welcoming beckon for embrace, but those eyes he’s looking at you with. That hug is not one of welcome, it’s one of solicitation. 5/10 this little mother fucker is going to try to sell you a used car and a pocket full of pebbles.

It kinda sucks, being a Lotor stan who also really likes, respects, and understands the paladins.

On the one hand, I totally understand my fellow Lotor stans who dislike the paladins. I like complex morality in my stories, and I consider the paladins morally complex rather than "good" or "bad" because they ARE. They did their best, they fought for good, and throwing Lotor under the bus was never intended as an evil thing - it was always a necessary sacrifice to be good and do the overall right thing.

But they still DID commit war crimes against Lotor, and as someone who likes complexity, it would be wrong to ignore it.

I like to think I've had a steady interpretation of Lotor from the start. Even as "soft Lotor uwu" season 5 dropped, I assumed he had killed people, even people who didn't deserve it. I assumed he was a murderer. I just assumed he had his reasons for it.

Season 6 hurt because Lotor DIED, but not because I felt it shifted his moral character. I was sad - and as a pragmatist re: fiction, a bit bemused - that the paladins turned on him and attacked him so quickly. Because like, how deluded were they to think he wasn't a murderer before? S1e1 established that Galra ships carry prisoners. The paladins killed those prisoners when they attacked galra ships. They're also murderers. It's a byproduct of war. Before s5, I headcanoned that Pidge was the one who killed her dad by blowing up a cruiser that contained him.

I never even factored in that the paladins would think Lotor's hands are clean, because it was obvious to me that NO ONE is clean of murder. Not Lotor, but also not the paladins.

I'm still a bit upset that the show continued to villify Lotor and then paint him as "misguided" for the deaths at his hands while glossing over the deaths at the hands of the "heroes," the paladins.

They've probably killed about the same ratio of innocents, but the paladins get a pass for their intentions, while Lotor gets to rot. He wanted to tear down the system and bring peace, and he gets to rot for it. The paladins have a similar kill count and are glorified.

And yes, I will admit after making this post, that while I love the paladins and will fight the idea that they are villains, I do also love and identify with Lotor. And seeing people say things like "stop woobifying Lotor he is a villain" - yeah, it hurts my feelings. It makes me feel bad about myself. It hurts me on behalf of myself and my fellow fans. It makes me go "damn is my therapist wasting her time helping me feel like I'm not bad" because I ID with Lotor, and seeing him called bad with no plans to understand him DOES make me, as someone who identifies with him, feel like I am a bad person. I do have the one dear friend who recognizes why I identify with Lotor and validates my feelings, but he isn't the keeper of my mental health.

If you see Lotor as a villain, fine. But don't belittle those of us who identify with him and see him as good and are upset over his fate.

Among other things, my phone dropped 3 inches and yet somehow still hit the corner of a rock just perfectly to shatter the whole screen... So that's gonna be fun and totally not expensive to replace 👍 also body's fighting me real freaking hard and pains doing a NUMBER on me atm.... Just as a fair warning, things ain't looking good on my end right now, so heads up that I might be pretty scarce for a bit until life decides to, like, chill for maybe two minutes??
