Synopsis: After finding Basil dead in his room Sunny follows in his footsteps and stabs himself in his room before he moves away. After finding out about this, Mari is quite upset that Basil and Sunny left their friends without a word and without telling them the truth of what happened the day of the recital. So the three now have a new mission.

Give their friends the truth they deserve.

However, one monochromatic boy isn’t too on board with this idea…

Soon enough the remaining distraught friends start having some..odd dreams. That are way too similar to each other to be a mere coincidence. With some familiar faces, and hidden secrets waiting to be discovered…

This au takes place after the neutral ending of Omori. Where Basil and Sunny both stab themselves before Sunny moves away. I love the neutral ending a lot and I think it’s very underrated. So that’s what I’m here to fix.

Omori's neutral endings fuck me up man. Just thinking about them has me emotional. Omori spoilers and CW for self harm/suicide below cut

Specifically thinking about the ending where you go to bed with the knife and end up stabbing yourself. The phone ringing all through the credits, the feeling of emptiness as it just. Doesn't. Stop.

How Sunny's mother must feel, she leaves her son alone and he kills himself. Maybe if she had come to wake him up herself this wouldn't have happened, maybe if she had come home a day earlier, maybe if she hadn't left at all.

And what about Sunny's friends? They lost two friends. Basil and Sunny are both dead. Their fragile reunion shattered once more. How gut-wrenching that must feel. We know how badly everyone took it when Mari died. How will they feel now that Sunny and Basil are both gone? Will Aubrey struggle with her anger management again? Will Hero fall back into depression? How does Kel feel? Does he keep on trying to be everyone's sunshine? Keep on acting like he's ok? Or does the dam crack and fall, or the mask slip. Perhaps he takes it the worst. It is his fault that Sunny left the house. Maybe if that didn't happen then Sunny and Basil would be ok...

The neutral endings don't have the discovery of the truth for everyone, nor the loud overstimulating music and seemingly infinite fall as Sunny succumbs to Omori one last time.

It is simply... Another day, doing the same things. Life moves on. Or not. You don't mean to kill yourself. Maybe you don't do it at all. But either way, the actions you take are the same actions you would take any other day. There isn't some big fanfare, its just... Over.

How would Aubrey and Kel act during a neutral ending? Would they act as they did in the canon universe when they discover that Basil killed himself?

I think they would act mostly similar to the original, it’d probably be the same dialogue.

I think that Aubrey would go through a really dark time again, she’d start blaming herself. Maybe If she hadn’t ignored him or actually talked to him this wouldn’t have happened.

Kel would at first try and comfort her, and he does but it’s hard for him to try and stay positive. But he’s just so tired, and he just can’t. So a lot of the time they hang out in silence.

Neither of them, really know what to do. Sunny’s

gone too (whether if he moved out or killed himself depending on the ending) and they don’t know where to go from there. both of them tell the hooligans that they need a break, they don’t really hang out with them as much as they used too.

I don’t think either of them (or hero) can really get past it for many many years. Like probably the same amount of time as Mari’s death or more. Cause as soon as got close to fixing things, it just got torn away from them immediately.

Oh no worries! I'm not very good at English as well since it's not my mother language, then again, I suck even more with my Chinese, which is my mother language ;-;

Its obvious, my favourite ending is the true ending and my least favourite is the hikikomori ending, where nothing changes. Hikikomori made me feel nothing and that's why it's my least favourite, because atleast in the neutral ending I'd be sad that Basil died or feel like dying when I accidentally pressed stab and initiated the knife ending.

My second favourite is the bad ending by the way, I enjoy listening to My Time a normal amount.

thinking about how the only reason sunny started reconnecting with the world and realising he deserves love is because kel never gave up on him. even though sunny isolated himself from everyone kel still called him and tried to reach out. and it’s so pivotal it’s literally the key choice that determines whether or not you get the good ending. the path to healing and contentment depends on whether or not you take the hand kel offers you. and sunny learns to forgive himself because he keeps making that choice. he opens the door for kel, and therefore chooses reconciliation and personal growth. it’s why he’s able to save basil in the end. because kel is strong and resilient and kind. because kel is lonely and has grieved in silence for years but still looks for sunny everywhere he goes. because they’re both invisible. because everything that sunny needs, kel has.

#they have the healthiest relationship in the game which says a lot because everyone is so damaged #I’m literally inconsolable #they’re foils your honour #tbf sunny foils all the kids for different reasons (which is why his dynamic with all of them is SO GOOD) #but his dynamic with kel makes me the most insane #idk what it is but it’s made me viscerally unwell #and that’s just thinking about the good ending. what about the bad/neutral endings………… gonna throw myself out a window #I also have thoughts about how hs!kel is the most flawed out of the kids even though headspace is meant to be an ideal world #meaning the kids are all the most idealised versions of themselves #but hs!kel is always in trouble and flawed and disruptive and is so openly himself #because he doesn’t need to be perfect to be deserving of love. not even from sunny’s warped/unreliable perspective #which is so important considering sunny’s relationship with kel directly impacts whether or not he can forgive himself #but anyway……………. #omori #omori kel #omori sunny #omori suntan #omori sunkel #omori caprisun #ghost speaks
