"i love you like a dog" is too overused. yes, it is correct. i love you like a dog. drooling, panting, reckless and messy, utterly devoted, you and nobody else. love with teeth. like a dog waiting for its owner to return. tail wagging as you walk through the door. longing for your approval, a 'good boy' for my troubles, pleasing you makes me feel like i have purpose. i have bitten the hand that feeds me, drawn blood, just to have you, amazing you. but still, it doesn't quite put it right. i love you like a wolf. like a vicious creature. i want to crush you beneath me like a weighted blanket and feel your hands behind my ears, beneath my muzzle, running through my fur. i want to chase after you, beating the ground with my paws, eyes fixed on nothing but you, and i want you to know when i catch you i will not bite. you love me when my teeth are bared. you are the only person that can fit a collar to me, you and nobody else, i love you like a dog but only your dog. i wait for you at the door, but when it knocks i bark and snarl until i know it is you and you've leaned down to greet me. i whine and whine until you call me up onto the bed, but i raise my hackles if any other voice says my name. it is an odd phenomenon. i love you like a wolf, like a vicious beast, yet you have tamed me, and i have let you, and only you.
