EXCLUSIVE: After setting the stage with its robust line-up of holiday programming, Great American Family is ready to get into the scripted series business.
The channel is launching County Rescue, an action-adventure medical drama starring Julia Reilly (Stranger Things) as an EMT in training who is vying for one of three openings on the team. It also stars Stacey Patino (Keeping Up With the Joneses), Percy Bell (Devotion), Tim Perez-Ross (The Vampire Diaries), Riley Hough (The Resident), Keller Fornes (The Secrets She Keeps), Angel Luis (Law & Order), Kristin Wollett (Random Tropical Paradise), and Brett Varvel (American Underdog).
The five-episode first season will premiere on Great American Pure Flix beginning February 16 and on Great American Family beginning February 17. Great American Pure Flix is the company’s streaming service that was rebranded in September 2023.
Great American Family is also planning a Q1 launch of mystery franchises — original movies centered on the lighter side of mysteries and whodunnits and starring fan favorites from the network’s family of talent. The first installment in the mystery wheel will be announced later this week.
“We are continuing to build on the phenomenal growth of our media brand and are excited to now fully capitalize on the synergies now available with Sony and Great American Pure Flix. Our portfolio of content is a trusted source of family friendly and faith-based entertainment, and our 2023 results greatly exceeded our expectations,” said Bill Abbott, President & CEO, Great American Media. “We are looking forward to having a positive impact on viewers and the entertainment business by creating quality content that can be enjoyed by the entire family.”
New original series set to premiere on Great American Pure Flix include Destination Heaven and Shadrach, as well as the season two return of Going Home, which premiered January 5.
Great American Media also announced it will produce a record number of original movies across the company’s services in 2024. This follows the company’s record in 2023, when it produced 21 original holiday movies for Great American Christmas while launching the franchise’s continuous Christmas programming earlier than any other network. It continued through New Year’s Day with the exclusive cable television broadcast of the 135th Tournament of Roses Parade.
The company will continue to develop and produce specials that promote emotional connections, such as Great American Rescue Bowl with its mission to save pet lives through adoption, premiering Super Bowl Sunday, February 11.

Clones in the Sims 4
So my sister and I play the Sims together, and last year we made this family called the Patinos, Jasmine and her son Pablo. Shortly after we made them, we noticed that there were two duplicates of them walking around the town, functioning as townies.
Things got a little bit easier after Jasmine married a random townie named Adonis Burgos and we changed their names, but the clone Patinos were still running around.
We hadn't bothered with the Burgos family or the Patino family clones for a while, but we've just discovered that Pablo's clone is now living in the Oakenstead house (valued at over 200,000 Simoleons) with 22,000 in the bank. He's an Angel Investor, makes 400 Simoleons an hour, has the Botany aspiration, the traits Good, Loner, and Materialistic, and his clone mother passed of old age :(
Meanwhile the real Pablo is a still teenager still living at home with his parents and little brother.
Clone Pablo Patino is considered an Adult (Auto-aging still activated on unplayed houses) but doesn't have the laughlines/face pudge of all other Adult Sims, presumably because his original is still young and he's meant to look exactly like him.
My sister and I are about to use him to test the wishing well that came with the Romantic Garden pack, so wish Clone Pablo good luck, and, uh, has the Sims ever cloned your personal Sims before?
Update:
Caleb Vatore ding-dong-ditched Clone Pablo, and the wishing well gave Pablo a soulmate in the form of an Elder named Elmer, who actually didn't want Pablo, so now he's gone.

21st Century Literature - An activity under the topic of AUTHORITARIANISM.
[Week 4] Apo on the Wall by Bj Patino I find Apo on the Wall really interesting because of how it portrayed the fanatical behavior of those that "worship" and "idolized" the fomer President and Dictator, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., despite not stating the identity of the said former President. The poem made it seem ridiculous to me that people are still a fan of someone comparable to a mass murderer. It made me realized that priveleged people will never understand the terror of living under the oppression because oppression to them is just something that they can brush off, as they won't suffer from it the same way other people suffered. It's just sad, because just like how the child's point of view in that photo on his father's wall, the smaller ones are the only one to feel the fear and paranoia that oppression brings. And how they the also the one being invalidated about it. It affects my appreciation of the past and the present in a way that I felt disgusted to the glorified image of the former president Marcos Sr., the exact ones that I believed in when I was a child. In a way that I felt repulsed by the people that insisted the greatness of his reign on social media, flaunting their idiocity and ignorance to the misery of the affected people and their family.

“REMEMBER WHEN”
I enjoy the poem since it accurately describes what took place during Martial Law years ago. The poem was effective because it emphasized the soldiers' loyalty. BJ Patino's poem Apo on the Wall appeals to me because it offers a picture of life under martial law at the time. It also gives me a sense of the narrator's relationship with his father. Understanding the text's actual meaning is not as important as reading between the lines. It gave me the impression that I was present when it took place and saw it happen. I created a similar vision. Despite the fact that I wasn't truly alive at the time.
I LIKE THIS POEM BECAUSE
This poem demonstrates the young boy's interest in the man pictured on the office wall of his father. And eager to find out who his father's boss is.
This poetry contrasts the past and current. It gave me the impression that I was learning about my family's history. It captured every aspect of my perspective and helped me to understand the past in order to change my current perspective. I now had a reason to value what had happened in our past thanks to the poetry. In order to start learning from our past mistakes in the present, we must allow ourselves space for a unique perspective.
It demonstrates to the public how a particular Filipino child's life was impacted by martial law under the Marcos administration. I enjoyed the poem just because the author camouflaged his intended imagery using metaphorical language. He used those metaphorical devices to get his audience to consider and extrapolate. The light-hearted language he chose to give the impression that these were actual events that occurred in the lives of children his age at the time made me like the poem even more, even if it was really just BJ Patino's narrative written as a poetry.

21st Literature
Q1-ACTIVITY 4 | Apo on the Wall
Apo on the wall poem was written by BJ Patino contains the experience of our fellow Filipinos when they were still living under the leadership of the former dictator who sat as the president of the Philippines for 21 years. This poem also contains the truth about what happened during his enacted martial law where thousands of lives were lost. Here in my blog, join me in presenting why I liked it; what I felt while reading and understanding it; the message I got from the poem I read; and how it affects my appreciation of the past and present.
This poem is really amazing because of the depth of the words that are spoken, deep but understandable. I also liked it because through BJ Patino's literature, I/we were given a chance to know some experiences and facts during the dictatorship era. If the content of the poem itself is to be discussed why I liked it, it is the child's curiosity about his environment which is okay for a young child who lived in the martial law era. I also liked it because here our army shows loyalty and respect. As I read this, I feel like I am one of those who have experienced this.
When Marcos declared martial law, the period of authoritarian rule began, marked by the death of press freedom, widespread human rights violations, and plunder. Maybe these reasons are enough to hate the government then. As for the poem written by BJ Patino, I think it is not pleasant because he allowed his own son to be obedient to his laws that are not according to human rights. I also can't fully imagine the condition of the citizens of his constituency who are indeed secured but not safe from the hands of the authorities. I also don't know why there are people who still support them despite their family's dark past. Under martial law, 70,000 were detained, 34,000 were tortured, and 3,240 were killed by the military and police.
The poem is that it shows the reality or real events and there is no taint of fake news about the martial law declared by the dictator president Marcos during his term. Moreover, through the writer's literature, we were shown what our compatriots experienced under his leadership. I just want to add that our history is tragic, no matter how tragic the past is. We must not forget, we must never forget. To forget is to deny the present any significant meaning.
For me, yes. Yes because if it was a golden era the, now is literally a golden era. We never learned, I thought never again? Why is there a Marcos again? as a citizen of this country, I am concerned for the future of my fellow youth, my fellow human beings.

Apo on the Wall by Bj Patino
There’s this man’s photo on the wall
Of my father’s office at home, you
Know, where father brings his work,
Where he doesn’t look strange
Still wearing his green uniform
And colored breast plates, where,
To prove that he works hard, he
Also brought a photo of his boss
Whom he calls Apo, so Apo could
You know, hang around on the wall
Behind him and look over his shoulders
To make sure he’s snappy and all.
Father snapped at me once, caught me
Sneaking around his office at home
Looking at the stuff on his wall- handguns,
Plaques, a sword, medals a rifle-
Told me that was no place for a boy
Only men, when he didn’t really
Have to tell me because, you know,
That photo of Apo on the wall was already
Looking at me around,
His eyes following me like he was
That scary Jesus in the hallway, saying
I know what you’re doing.
Why you liked the poem?
Apo on the wall gave me a new impression of the reality about martial law. This poem served as a living testimony for those Filipinos who come across this period. It opened up my eyes to see the not imagined condition, that I myself didn’t witness or experience, of what the victims of martial law go through. I got enlightened of the truth that the new generation has a different view of what had happened during the regime of Marcos compared to those Filipinos who suffered severely to the cause of Marcos' abusive use of power. The work of Bj Patino has a denotation to the characteristic of the “Father” as a superior ruler of the family and the child’s natural feeling to fear his Father as a sign of respect. This also connotes the feeling of the Filipinos who were afraid over the power and authority of Marcos dictatorship. Their fear is a self-imposed prison that kept them from having their human rights, freedom of speech, and voice of justice. The poem occured suitable in relation with the happenings within the Philippine issues and problems. It has an essential role that we can look back on. This shares a meaningful message to every young Filipino especially to those who have stereotype background about the whole historical story of martial law in the Philippines during Marcos era. Apo on the wall brought me back to my senses illuminating the whole picture behind the scenes of the real dark chapter in the Philippine history. Generally, I liked this poem for the reason that its composition has an impact in our present time and for the proceeding years. The past may have passed away yet its spirit still lives in our present time.
How it made you feel?
Apo on the wall is a revelation of the dark side of what happened in the past during Marcos regime. It has a lot of secret untold stories and unheard voices of testimonies up until now weren’t given a chance to have justice. The whole story about this poem is filled with fear, grief, trauma and unheard lamentations from our past. I felt sympathy for the Filipinos who undergo such experience. If I will put myself on their own shoes, I’ll be deeply depressed. I felt the great sadness of the poem from the injustice rights they had. I’m visioning flood of bitter tears flowing upon their eyes, the silent sound of weeping, and the deep anguish of crying from them. I sense the lost of the hope coming from their soul. They were been closed into a dark place, where no light could enter. They were forced to sit in the dark like someone long dead. I also felt the pain that they took from the past. The feeling of being wasted describes their life. It is like a mixture of bitterness and sourness of a food. They can’t find peace or remember happiness. I am affected by the misery they carrying up until now. They were terribly mistreated and worn out back then. All day long it leaves them in shock from constant pain as though they were trampled by a huge rock. They were mourning from the aftermath of the past. All in all, I felt the suffering of the Filipinos who were under the martial law.
The message you got from it?
There was an interview between millennials and elders asking how they picture martial law. Through their responses you will discover the differences of their answer an absolute unlikeness. The millennials who has insufficient knowledge of the whole history of martial law tells the prosperity of the Philippines economy and the presents the state of discipline among Filipinos. In contrary, the elders facing towards the mellennials (who are unknowing about who they are talking with) reveals their wisdom of the one-sided reality of Marcos distorted law as a horrifying past, full of misery and a painstaking sufferance for those who had an actual experience. This shows the contradicting over all view among them. Honestly speaking the poem made me realized, as one of the mellennials, that what we know about the whole chapter of Martial law in the Philippines was not enough. Therefore we must not let ourselves from stereotyping. “ Apo on the wall” taught me the value of open-mindedness (free from rigidly fixed preconceptions). We mustn’t come up with a fixed concentrated one-sided story of someone or something, it will only conceal the big picture that everyone must see. We must stop ourselves from overgeneralization of a certain story. Teach yourself the habit of seeking out multiple perspectives. Everyone really needs to fully understand the overall view. We mustn’t settle from limited sources of information. We might miss the important details that are vital to know the truth or worse it can lead us to false ideas. You must recognize that broad generalizations are often misleading. Skills in perspective consciousness and the habit of seeking out different perspectives can help us recognize on how to interpret events and issues in quite different ways based on their backgrounds and experiences, knowledge, beliefs, and values.
How it affects your appreciation of the past and the present?
The poem of Bj Patino is a comparison of the past and present. It imparted me the sense of learning from the past through our own history. It captivated my entire perspective to enlighten me for the whole truth in the past that change my present overview. The poem gave me the reason to give value of what had occurred in our past. We must give ourselves a room for a personal outlook from our previous mistakes and start applying the wisdom in our present time. Rick Warren once said, “We are products of our past, but we don’t have to be prisoners of it.” Our past has already passed away now. Our present learns from our past and wanted a new start of life. Our future calls us to move forward and keep looking straight ahead. Everything is in the past now. We should know the purpose of our mistakes, it is intended to mold and build us of whom we are and who we will become. Our past is already our past. We don’t have the power to change it whether we like it or not. For our own sake, let us learn from its mistakes and failures we had done, and then let it go. Let us live through starting right.

“Hello?” a tired voice said into the phone. “Now? Yeah, I understand I’ll be there soon.” Jared hung up and stared at his phone. He knew he couldn’t keep doing this. Keeping secrets and leaving whenever he was called. He felt he needed to though. He needed the money and he wanted to be able to provide for Nia. Her art was really starting to take off though and it seemed like it wouldn’t be long before she was making more then him. A part of him felt like he should quit and do something more normal for her sake.
“Do you really have to go?” she asked, quietly. Jared let out a sigh and nodded.
