Do you have any pearlet fics recommendations? I came in the fandom late so mostly of the pearlet fics I wanna read are gone/deleted 😭

who invited you?, i don't want to be your friend and knocked up are old-ish, but i loved them when i read them for the first time.

aq isn't active anymore but i suggest browsing the pearlet tag anyways. my favourite aq pearlet writer was artificial alice and my favourite fic of hers was infinite mixtapes. definitely worth checking out!

also, charlotte's series on aq, the violets in the mountains have broken the rocks, fucked with my head the first time i read it and it's so bittersweet to me that it remains unfinished, but it's a good read nonetheless. there's you bring me closer to god (you let me violate you), also by charlotte, if you just want to read porn. like who am i to judge yknow?

i do have to make a big fat disclaimer here that most, if not all, of the older fics, which are the majority in this list, use pearl and violet's govt names. that's just what was normal back then, lesbian AUs weren't the silently agreed default (i'm told they were quite controversial, actually).

finally, you can read mine on my ao3 and my #pearlet tag on here. there's another biiiig fat disclaimer to be made: i don't like most of these lmao. i've grown out that writing style, i'm an adult (allegedly) now and these were written by a 15-17 year old.

my favorite ship to write is definitely crygi, and i’m sorry but you just gave me a great opportunity to talk about why i love writing this ship so much so let me explain:

not only is it pretty popular, meaning i get more feedback on if what i’m writing is what people want to see, but it’s also so versatile. if you’ve seen crygi fics you probably know what i’m talking about—is crystal shy and gigi outgoing? crystal outgoing and gigi shy? are they friends, enemies, just two strangers who meet and click? there’s so much you can do and so many tropes that you can fulfill while still having it be natural, i love it

but ok my favorite tropes to write are friends to lovers and mutual pining, definitely. there’s something about knowing so much about a person and talking to them every day and deciding “yeah, this one” that’s so cute to me!!! but also i truly do love writing letters or notes into fics. it tells you so much about a person!! when were they writing it? how do they start and end it? what does the contents of the letter say? there’s so much that can be done with it!!!

but okay you got me curious now—if you somehow made it through my rambling (can you believe i had more i was going to say? this is the trimmed version. i just get so excited!!!), i’d love to hear more about how you write enemies to lovers. i’ve tried, but i’m so bad at it!! what about to draws you in? how to you gauge the turning point form enemies to lovers? do you normally have them be friends too, or is it a hard switch?

This may just be because of recency bias, but Chained to the Rhythm has to be my favorite. I put so much work into it and spent so much time... It's like my baby. All of my fics are too, but still.

Taking Advantage of the Moment is also up there. It's the first fic that I submitted to AQ. Well, the first fic I think that's legitimately good. It's got Max, so that's a selling point in of itself. 100% will recommend IGN.

2. Underrated fics... I *could* say anything before my s14 era, but also my Sashea duology is good shit. Also "My Love, Take Care of Yourself"

3. Favorite fics from other authors... The list is longer, but I can only write so much, y'know y'know?

trixya - overall in the fandom it’s obviously a core ship, but it’s one i personally could not care less about (if anyone wants to pitch another katya ship to me im all ears tho)

pearlet - im not sure where it ranks in the fandom, but i wanna say it’s probably somewhere in the secondary realm, but im personally indifferent to it

sashea - honestly that’s one of the core ships imo. ik ive only written them like twice but i actually shipped them so hard during s9
