Sea of Desire (Sundara Chola x Mandhakini)
Reader discretion: This story contains mature themes and explicit content. Reader discretion is advised.
(Preview)
His warrior's hands untied the strings of her blouse with ease as if he were untying his bow. Like a feather, he slowly traced a pattern with his fingertips. Her neck hair straightened as her heartbeat fastened.
Just as he untied the strings, his hands slowly combed her hair, and his soft lips kissed the side of her neck. With a slow gasp, she felt her breath quicken, and her eyelids halfway closed as her vision started to blur with the sensation his lips were creating all over her body.
As he inhaled her jasmine-covered hair, he experienced a euphoria he had never experienced. This was not his first time with a woman; he had his fair share of them in his youth and as a prince. But with her, he felt home, passion, and the fire that burnt, which only engulfed his mind and body.
As she felt her blouse loosen away with instinct, she covered her now exposed chest, her mouth hanging open with the extreme pleasure she was feeling right now.
His muscular arms took hold of hers from behind as he whispered the words into her ear, ‘Don’t be shy, just as you engulfed my mind and soul, I will engulf all of yours as well as it is mine to devour’ He growled as he spun her around and kept her arm above her head.
Both their naked chests brush together, making them moan in the dim light inside the caves in the middle of the island where the saltwater in the sea creates magic in the air as they both look into each other eyes, and right there, nothing could separate them, nor they indent to separate anytime soon.
With that, Sundara Cholan captured the lips of the innocent flower Mandhakini as if they were nectar created by gods.

Vanmozhi OS - Shivapada Sekaran
(Inspired from Ponniyin Selvan novel)
Arulmozhi Varman had lots of dreams. He had many ambitions mainly due to Kundavai's influence. He wanted to establish the Chola empire as the most powerful empire and extend the boundaries of it even across oceans..by conquering Ilangai, and other islands -maalatheevu and kachhatheevu (Maldives, Lakshadweep). He did not want to be a ruthless, power hungry and cruel ruler and conquer those areas. He wanted to be a kind yet powerful, secular, leader who can achieve these goals and contribute to the welfare/prosperity to his people and Chola desam.
He wanted everyone in his kingdom to be prosperous. He wanted to promote artists and poets and give them recognition. He wanted to encourage and praise his soldiers who day and night work on the security of his Chola desam. He wanted to build his empire in a way that it will be remembered even after 1000 years. He wanted everyone in this world to know the greatness of this land.
But mainly he wanted to express his never ending devotion and submission to the one who controls this universe, the one whose dance influences this universe - blissful dance (Ananda Thandavam) in which entire universe is filled with bliss, joy and ecstasy, the ferocious and the most violent dance which leads to the destruction and annihilation of this universe. The one who has no start and no end, the one who is infinity, the one who has form and yet formless, the one who is far from the duality of this world - Shiva who can't be defined or described by anyone in mere words but can be attained by one's love and devotion. A simple leaf, flower, fruit submitted with love, devotion and faith can satisfy him but even money, gold, diamond and material riches submitted without devotion, faith would forever prohibit one from receiving his grace. His name - Om Nama Shivaya - is enough to attain his grace and to escape from the death - birth cycle and attain Moksha. By consistently remembering his name and praying him one can reach his feet. Arulmozhi was just lost in his thoughts about how to express the greatness of his Ishta Deivam(Favorite God) - Prameshwara, Nataraja.
Tumblr media
"Azndha sindanayil ullirgal pol therigiadu. Enna yosikirirgal Iyyane. Ungaluku virupam irundal ennidamum thangal ennangalai pagirungal.(It seems you are in deep thought- lost in thoughts. What are you thinking about my lord? If you don't mind you can share your thoughts with me.)"
"En kanne! Nee epodu vandai? Romba neramaga kaathu irundai aa enna? enge va. en aruge utkar. (My love. When did you come? Were you waiting for a long time? Come here and sit with me)"
"Epoduthan vanden. (I arrived just now)" Vanathi replied and sat beside him.
"Hmm. I am just lost in my dreams en anbe. I was just thinking about how to show the greatness of our land and Shiva to the whole world."
"Hmm. Indeed it is a very huge task. What are your thoughts on this my lord?"
"Well I am dreaming of building a temple which would house the lord of Kailash - Shiva. The temple should be very big and grand to house the deity of Kailash. It should be magnanimous, astounding and spell bounding to anyone who visits this temple at the same time it should also show the greatness of the Tamil language. The Nandi statue should be big as he guards the entrance of Kailash and the idol should be even bigger than the Nandi as he is the powerful lord Shiva. The temple should stand firm for a long period of time withstanding natural calamities and foreign invasions. It should act as a testimony to our rich culture and heritage. I am dreaming of building such a temple kanmani."
"And I want to show the greatness of our Tamil language anbe. The lingam should be of 12 feet height indicating the 12 uyir ezhuthu(vowels) of Tamil language. The pedestal which contains the lingam should be of 18 ft indicating the mei ezhuthu(consonants) of Tamil. The temple tower(gopuram) should be of 216 ft indicating the uyirmei ezhuthu of Tamil language. The total distance between Nandi and Shiva lingam should be 247 ft indicating the total characters in Tamil. Our language plays a major role in shaping our culture, heritage and spirituality. You know our staunch Shaivaites - Nayanmars praised Lord Shiva by various songs and hymns - Thevaram( 12 Thirumurai). I want to collect such precious treasures and sing those verses in our temples which will protect and guide us and our future generation. Similarly  Azhwars sang various songs on Vishnu and I want to collect those as well (Nalayira Dhivya Prabandham).Their worth can't be described in mere words. Our ancestors left such treasures for us we should save those and daily sing those hymns in our temples."
"You will build such a temple my lord. You will fulfil all your dreams. You  will recover those hymns and make sure that it is sung daily in our temples. You are Ponniyin Selvan(son of Kaveri river), eezham konda veeran(warrior who won Ilangai) , Cholar kula manickam you can do it."
"I would like to be addressed as Shivapada Sekaran(the one who places his crown at the feet of Shiva) kanne. I am a mere instrument, puppet used by  Mahadeva. We humans/beings are nothing but puppets/pawns in Mahadeva's hands. Everything happens as per his wish. Without his wish not even an atom can move then what can we humans do? "
"Then by Shiva's wish and blessings you will fulfil your dreams my lord."
"Nee solvadu palikattum anbe. (May your words manifest soon and turn true my love).  Meanwhile can you sing the first stanza of the pathigam that Sundara sang in Thiru vennainallur....Pitha pirai soodi ?"
"பித்தா! பிறை சூடீ! பெருமானே! அருளாளா!
எத்தால் மறவாதே நினைக்கின்றேன்? மனத்து உன்னை வைத்தாய்; பெண்ணைத் தென்பால் வெண்ணெய் நல்லூர் அருள் – துறையுள்
அத்தா! உனக்கு ஆள் ஆய் இனி அல்லேன் எனல் ஆமே? "
Meaning:
O crazy one! O the one who is wearing the crescent moon! O the great one! O the one who bestows blessings! You have installed yourself in my mind. I remember you always without forgetting in any manner. O father in the temple in the town of Vennai ~nallur on the southern banks of the Pennai river! How can I say any more that I am not your slave?
"Ah!"
"Enna achu en kanne?(What happened my dear?) Are you hurt? Are you in pain?"
"I am fine my lord. It seems your offspring agrees with you. He/She is kicking in my womb and praying to Shiva. Just see your son/daughter will contribute to manifesting your dreams. Your son/daughter will play a major role in visualizing your dreams."
"Ha ha. It seems my son/daughter has already started planning ahead. By Shiva's blessings I hope that it happens. We will see that soon kanne. We will be living in that reality in a few years. Kanne. "

Avalathu Kalvan (VanMozhi one shot)
Vaanathi, the princess of Kodumbalur, sat by her palace window in Thanjai, the capital of the Chola Kingdom. She gazed out, lost in thought, remembering her teenage years when she faced relentless bullying.
Her vision transformed into the memory of her first time in Pazhaiyarai.
She was a young girl sitting on the riverbed, tears streaming down her face. Her parents had passed away, leaving her orphaned. The other children taunted her, calling her an "unlucky princess" and shunning her from their games and conversations. The loneliness and despair weighed heavily on her young heart, and she often found solace in the quiet company of the river.
As Vaanathi recalled those painful memories, she felt a deep sadness wash over her. Despite her royal status, she had known great sorrow and hardship. But she also remembered the inner strength that had carried her through those dark times, which had helped her endure and persevere.
As she sat by the Ponni River in Pazhayarai, the gentle water flow calmed her nerves, and Vaanathi felt a familiar anxiety creeping in. She had barely arrived and already met the kind Chola princess Kundhavai, who had welcomed her warmly. But amidst the new surroundings and the friendly faces, Vaanathi couldn't shake off the fear of the unknown.
She was anxious about meeting Arunmozhi Varman, the youngest royal of the Chola Kingdom, who was adored by all. She had heard so much about him, his kindness, and his charisma. She couldn't help but secretly admire him from afar, though she had never seen him.
"What if he doesn't like me?" she thought, her heart skipping at the mere idea of meeting him. She knew she had to make a good impression, but her nerves got the best of her as she sat by the river, lost in her thoughts.
As the evening sky started to darken and the birds began to bid goodbye, Vaanathi's heart thumped with the possibility of doing something wrong.
As she was lost in her thoughts, Vaanathi suddenly heard the sound of hooves approaching. She turned to see a teenage boy riding his horse towards her with admiring eyes. Startled by the sudden interruption to her solitude, Vaanathi quickly stood up. She felt disappointed that her peaceful moment by the river had been disrupted abruptly. The boy looked at her with a warm smile, his eyes reflecting the fading light of the day. He dismounted from his horse and approached her, his gaze never leaving her face.
"You looked like a beautiful nymph, lost in the beauty of the evening sky," he said softly, his voice hinting at admiration.
Vaanathi felt her cheeks flush at the compliment. She had never been compared to a nymph before and wasn't sure how to respond. She looked down, feeling suddenly shy under his gaze.
Vaanathi quickly let go of her shyness and stood straight, reminding herself of her status as a princess. Despite her initial shyness, she tried to sound harsh when she asked the boy who he was. However, her innocent voice came out more like a kitten meowing.
The boy, amused, laughed but quickly composed himself. "I am a stable boy working in the palace," he replied.
As Vaanathi heard the boy's explanation, her eyes narrowed. For a stable boy, he looked remarkably polished and well-kept. She couldn't help but admire how he cared for himself, even in his role.
"I see," Vaanathi said, trying to maintain her composure. "As a stable boy, you seem to take great pride in your appearance."
The boy smiled, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Appearances can be deceiving; sometimes, things are not as they seem."
Curious, the boy asked, "And who might you be?"
Vaanathi hesitated momentarily before replying, "I am Vaanathi, Princess of Kodumbalur."
"Princess," the boy repeated with a hint of surprise. "It's an honour to meet you, Princess Vaanathi."
Vaanathi slightly let go of her fake seriousness and smiled as she relaxed at the boy's gaze before her. She sat down and looked at the space beside her, indicating that he would sit beside her.
The boy understood the silent invitation and sat beside her, leaving a respectful distance between them. They sat silently momentarily, watching the river flow gently past them.
"It's peaceful here," the boy said, breaking the silence. "I often come here to escape the hustle and bustle of the palace."
Vaanathi nodded, enjoying the tranquillity of the moment. She opened up to this stranger despite knowing very little about him.
"I come here to find solace," she admitted softly. "Being a princess can be lonely at times."
The boy looked at her with understanding in his eyes. "I understand. Even though I'm just a stable boy, I often feel the weight of expectations on my shoulders."
They sat in companionable silence, each lost in their thoughts. Despite their different backgrounds, Vaanathi felt a connection with the boy beside her, which went beyond their titles and positions.
"But what's troubling you, princess, if you don't mind me asking?" he said, looking at her face admiringly, taking in her eyes, lips, nose, and everything about her.
Vaanathi exhaled slowly, relieved to confide in someone. She closed her eyes briefly, taking a deep breath before speaking.
"From the time of my birth, I have always believed that I bring bad luck to the people I love," she admitted her voice barely above a whisper. "My parents passed away when I was young, and I have always felt responsible for their deaths. I fear anyone close to me will suffer the same fate."
The boy listened intently, his gaze soft and understanding. He reached out and gently took her hand in his, offering her comfort and reassurance.
"It's not your fault, princess," he said softly. "Bad things happen to everyone, but that doesn't mean you're cursed. Sometimes, we have to believe that things will get better."
Vaanathi felt a warmth spread through her at his words. For the first time in a long time, she felt a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, her luck was about to change.
"So, as a Kodumbalur princess, what brought you to Pazhayarai?" he asked, his curiosity evident.
Vaanathi raised an eyebrow at his question. For a stable boy, he sure did talk a lot. She decided to indulge him with an answer.
"Well, I am here to meet the royals, and I've already met the princess," she replied. "But I am nervous for tomorrow, as I will meet the two Princes of Chola Desam."
The boy nodded, understanding her apprehension. "Meeting royalty can be intimidating, but I'm sure you'll do just fine."
Vaanathi smiled gratefully at his words. Despite his humble station, the boy's words were comforting, and she felt a sense of calm wash over her.
"Thank you," she said softly.
The boy smiled back, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Well, I am just a stable boy, but if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here."
Vaanathi hesitated for a moment before speaking again. "I am nervous because this is the first time I will meet Arunmozhi Varman, whom I am meant to marry."
The boy's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly recovered and smiled at her. "Why nervous if you are going to marry him?" he asked.
Vaanathi sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "What if he doesn't like me? I am not the strongest nor the most beautiful. I am just an orphan princess with nothing else to offer."
The boy gently took her hand, offering her comfort. "You are more than your titles, Princess Vaanathi. You have a kind heart and a gentle spirit. Prince Arunmozhi will see that and cherish you for who you are."
Vaanathi smiled, touched by his words. Despite being just a stable boy, he had a way of making her feel valued and understood.
The stable boy reached into his bag, which he always carried, and pulled out something that caught Vaanathi's curiosity. She watched closely as he turned around, asking her to open her palm and close her eyes. She did so hesitantly, feeling something round and cold placed in her hand.
"Open your eyes," he said gently.
Vaanathi opened her eyes to find a beautiful golden ball in her palm. She gasped, her eyes widening in surprise. This looked expensive.
The boy smiled at her reaction. "I crafted this from bits of gold I collected since childhood," he explained. "I always carried it with me. It brings me calm and serves as a lucky charm."
"You should keep it for tomorrow, for good luck," he suggested, noticing Vaanathi's apprehension about the upcoming meeting with the Chola princes.
Vaanathi shook her head, hesitant to accept such a precious gift from a stranger. But the boy persisted, his eyes filled with sincerity.
"I insist," he said softly. "It's just a small token of my appreciation for your kindness and for sharing your story with me."
Vaanathi looked at the golden ball in her hand, feeling touched by the boy's gesture. Despite his humble status, he was willing to give her something precious. She closed her fingers around the golden ball, feeling a sense of warmth and comfort wash over her.
"Thank you," she said softly, her voice filled with gratitude.
The stable boy smiled at her and slowly bid her goodbye. As he turned to leave, Vaanathi couldn't help but ask, "How can I meet you again to return this golden ball to you?"
The boy turned back, his smile warm and reassuring. "I will come before you when I want it back," he said cryptically.
With that, he left, disappearing into the fading light of the day. Vaanathi watched him go, her heart filled with hope and happiness. She knew their paths would cross again, and she looked forward to the day when she could return the golden ball to him.
As the next morning dawned, Vaanathi got ready for the day ahead. She dressed in her finest attire, the golden ball safely tucked away in a pocket close to her heart. Just as she was about to leave her chambers, Princess Kundhavai entered, her face beaming excitedly.
"Good morning, Vaanathi!" Kundhavai exclaimed. "Are you ready for the meeting with the princes?"
Vaanathi nodded, returning Kundhavai's smile. Together, they made their way to the royal court, where the meeting would occur. Vaanathi's heart fluttered with nervous anticipation, but she felt a sense of calm knowing that she carried the golden ball with her, a reminder of the kind and hopeful encounter she had with the stable boy by the river.
As they entered the royal court, Vaanathi held the golden ball tightly, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. She thought of the stable boy and his kind smile, finding comfort in the memory. Suddenly, her thoughts were interrupted by someone clearing their throat.
Startled, Vaanathi looked up to see a tall boy a few years older than her looking down at her with a smirk. "Please don't be Arunmozhi, please don't be Arunmozhi," Vaanathi prayed silently, but the boy seemed to hear her and chuckled. Kundhavai, who was beside her, laughed as well.
"Don't worry, this is not Arunmozhi," Kundhavai reassured her. "This is Aditha Karikalan, my and Arunmozhi's elder brother."
"Sorry to disappoint you, my dear princess," Aditha joked, extending a hand to welcome her. Vaanathi smiled sheepishly, relieved that it wasn't Arunmozhi.
Kundhavai then asked about their brother, and all heads turned to the footsteps behind them. Vaanathi's eyes met with familiar ones, the eyes that made her feel calm and safe, the face that made her blush. Standing before her was the stable boy. Before Vaanathi could speak to him, Kundhavai looped her arm through his and brought him closer.
"Vaanathi, meet my little brother, Arunmozhi," Kundhavai introduced.
Vaanathi's heart raced. How could the stable boy be a prince? Her anxiety soared, and her vision started to blur. Before she could collapse, Arunmozhi caught her, his smile warm as he gently caressed her hair.
Flashback Ends
The now slightly older Vaanathi chuckled at her memory as she rolled the golden ball between her palms. "What made my queen so happy?" a voice called out. She looked up to see her husband, the great King Arunmozhi Varman, standing tall and strong with a face filled with love.
"I was thinking about a stable boy who captured my heart," Vaanathi replied, smiling at him.
"A stable boy?" Arunmozhi feigned hurt. "Where is this stable boy? I will have his head!" he joked, and they both laughed as they cuddled each other.
"Careful, my King," Vaanathi teased. "I am currently pregnant with his baby."
Arunmozhi gasped jokingly. "What?!"
Vaanathi Nodded as she laughed at her husband, to which ArunMozhi wiggled his eyebrows.
'What?' Vaanathi questioned. ‘Well, I am waiting for the princess to return the golden ball. She borrowed it from the stable boy," he said, and Vaanathi shook her head, stating, "The princess has now become queen, so her rules, as she has already given heart." She whispered as she closed their distance, and their lips met.
She knew they were destined to be together no matter where their journey started, ruling their kingdom with love and compassion.

ULLANGKAVAR KALVAN - ArunMozhi & Vaanathi Oneshot
Thodudaiya seviyan vidaiyaeriyor thooven mathi soodi~~~ thodudaiya seviyan vidaiyaeriyor thooven mathi soodi kaadudaiya sudalai podi poosi en ullangkavar kalvan~~~~~ kaadudaiya sudalai podi poosi en ullangkavar kalvan
As she sings those words with small tears peaking out of her curtain-like eyelashes, as whimpers out the song again and again with so much to say yet to remain in silence.
She was relieved when she was finally able to see the love of her life breathing and slowly healing from the fever he got by facing death. As she sat on the balcony facing the ocean where the sky meet it and how conjoin both sky and sea. But in reality, they never get to touch each other, never cherish their longings same as she is now.
As thoughts clouded her mind, her bad luck and inferiority peaked in. She was neither the beauty nor the brave. She doesn't have anything to give to her Prince who is the combination of everything she is not. As her tears clouded her eyes just like thoughts she hoped that she can at least be near him even if it is not as his wife but even as a woman who can help him to be well.
As she and her akka Kundhavai arrived at Eezham to check on their most loved prince. She was happy that he is alive and finally able to calm down after the storm she felt over the course of days.
But as she made sure her love is well and improving, she heard from the brilliant spymaster Nambi who told about the bravery of a boat girl who made sure the prince is alive and rowed the boat a full day to help get the prince here. How she is the Samuthirakumari and just how brilliant she radiates just like her name ' Poonguzhali'.
And Vaanathi felt proud by hearing about other women's will to help the prince. But she also notices how concerned Poonguzali was when she always sat next to his head while the Buddha Bakshi treated the prince. It was that time Vaanathi saw Poonguzhali, the mesmerizing beauty just like her name and her title, she radiates depth like an ocean. Her eyes held pure love and commitment.
How could she ever able to be something she never was? She is after all bad luck, that's what most of the people she ever met said to her. Her parents are dead, and because of her luck, she sent the lovable prince to Eezham back when she faints and causes this to him. How could she ever able to digest this? Everything about her is just bad luck. What Poonguzhali did is what the youngest Chola prince needs in his life. A companion that he can able to count on, who he can able to take with him alongside his battle, who was strong enough to save him in any situation, who is beautiful and full of strength, who would give him a child just as much as the warrior he is. She could never able to give anything she just listed for Samuthiria Kumari.
Her thoughts were cut off by her lovable Akka voice, which she is thankful for.
'Vaanthi, please be near Arunmozhi, I have to discuss something with Vanathiadevan' Kundavai told Vanathi and went to find the Vaanar Kulla Veeran. Even though she is nervous she always obeys her Akka, as in this world only a few love her without any expectations.
She peeked in find her love sleeping peacefully, his fever drastically decreased by gods grace. She went in and sat next to her prince and nervously placed her hands on his head and combed through his glorious and soft hair. As she closed her eyes and let her tears fall, she started to pray to Shiva, who always protects the prince. She is also thankful that she can be near him even though she may not be his wife or have those blessings this is more than she could ask for.
Mutral aamai ila naagamodaena mulai kombavai poondu Vatral odu Kalanaapali Thernd-enadh-ullam Kavar kalvan Katral kaettal Udaiyaar Periyaar Kazhal Kaiyaal Thozhudaetha Petram Urndha Piramaapura Maeviya
As she sings those lines she forgets her surroundings, it is just her and the prince who is the epitome of grace, handsome, glory, intelligent, and calm. Salt tears rolled down her smile graced her lips and fell down. If anything she can do to help her prince feel less pain is to accept his pain as hers, She prayed to god that every pain he is going through will fall upon her, and she would gladly take those and make her prince feel better, every bad thing that is meant to happen to him will fall on her and she makes sure to take those and give him all the joyous things that meant for her and him.  She repeated those again and again and whimpered that she is being useless among others, only thing she has herself is that she is born a princess and there is nothing exceptional about her, and how she doesn't deserve this beautiful and charming prince.
As tears flow down from her closed eyelids, she opened her eyes as she heard a murmuring. Her eyes widen as she realized that it is coming from Arunmozhi before her. She smiled and turned around to find if anyone coming in so that she can ask them to fetch the Princes and others, But she stopped and turned back to listen to what her prince is murmuring in his current state.
'Vaa-' His lips opened and closed quickly as she is unable to hear it properly.
'Vaa-na-thi' As the words fell into her eyes, her body froze and happy tears rolled out, She couldn't believe what she is hearing. She held his palm in her hand and caressed it softly. At this moment there is no one else who matters and it's just her and him. His eyelids slowly opened and his charcoal-colored eyes softly grazed her.
'Vaanathi' He whispered and smiled softly at her. The smile which spoke a million words, the smile which let her know that it is going to be ok. She returned the smile and thanked god.
Three days later.
As she stood watching the waves hit the grounds from her balcony facing the Eezham sea which slowly turned red as the sun started to set. They will be leaving for Thanjai tomorrow and she is nervous again. Where does she stand now and what she has to do on returning to Thanjai? Still, Ilavarasar is not entirely out of danger and she is scared for him. After the intimate moment that happened three days before she is all alone again and often she wondered whether she dreamt it or it really happened.
'Why your eyes are filled with sorrow?' A voice asked her from behind and she just know who is the owner of it even without turning around.
She smiled sadly and shook her head as she is unable to form words in front of him still.
'Won't I be blessed with your voice?' He asked and come to stand next to her. She lifted her eyes and shyly looked at her love with a soft smile. But her eyes hold so many emotions.
'It should be me who would feel blessed to be near you' Her words made him smile down at her. As he raise his hands and tucked the hair behind her ears, the close proximity makes her feel the light head and she prayed that she won't faint just another time in front of him. Her heartbeat raced to a level she doesn't even know if it was possible.
'So you like gazing at the ocean?' He asked and looked ahead of him to see the evening sky that had painted the ocean with its color.
'It makes me feel calm at times, my Ilavarase' She said and looked away from him to feel somewhat less nervous again.
'Why not all time?' He questioned her and she doesn't know whether she should be open about her feelings to him.
'Well other times, I wonder how the Sky and ocean feel to be close but yet never be able to get closer forever' Her answers made him smile as he knows what he is implying.
'Maybe that's what makes it more romantic even, that even with the distance they still don't leave one another. And Ocean yet makes sure to gaze at the sky every single time and the sky pours her heart out to him without missing a beat. So they both can taste each other's love' His words made her look at him as if he is answering all her doubts.
'Will you be my Vaan(Sky) my Vaanathi?' The Prince asked her, and she is surprised that he is asking permission when she is all his.
'How can I give you permission when I am already yours?' She said with tears falling down just like the sky pours down the droplet of water into the ocean.
Arumozhi bent down and attached his forehead against hers and circled his hands around and wrist and brought her closer. The scent of rain made them fall over each other again and again. As both their eyes gaze upon each other his lips brushed down hers softly just like the ocean drinking the droplets from the sky.
Her breath caught in her chest and her hands found their way into his hair she hold him for her dear life, fearing that her legs would give out if she lose him.
As they shared their kiss of love, the ocean and sky smiled at each other as they are finally able to be with each other forever.
Arunmozhi proved to her that she is his sky and he is her Ocean, both always be with each other no matter what.
After all, he is her 'Ullangkavar Kalvan'

Will her love for him be enough? What if he does not see her as the one he wants to marry? Will she be able to accept that fate?

Thuyil - Kundavai & Vanthiyadevan Oneshot
As the fingers counted the dates and lips worded out the month, Ilavarasi currently standing before a mirror and trying to see if she looks any different.
'Aavani(Tamil month that comes in the middle of English month July to August) 15' A small hopeful smile formed on the lotus shade lips. Kundavai smiled and affectionately caressed her stomach, no one is allowed in as she wanted to confirm herself before she made it official.
As many thoughts ran into her mind as she remembered her wedding night, the night of bliss, the night of union, the night of love and passion.
Three months back
'My Ilavarasiye, why are you playing games with me on our wedding night?' Vandiyadevan smiled cheekily as he walked around the gardens trying to find Kundavai. They are currently in Pazhayarai Palace, and this place holds so many memories for both of them.
Kundavai who is currently behind a tree laughed softly trying not to make much noise and spoke from where she is hiding 'Kamsa Raja ennai sirai pidika porrergala(Has Kamsa Raja going to arrest me?)' She said and fled toward the lake where her boat currently resides. As she went into that and saw Vandiyadevan running towards the tree she was hiding before.
'Athan intha Kamsan anre Uyirai samarpithuvitan than Ilavarasikaga. Nyabagam illaya (This Kamsan already pledged his life to his princess! Don't you remember?)' Vandiyadevan asked and saw a large boat in the lake, and he smiles and went to get into that.
And just like the first time, he saw he standing at the edge where the moon shines straight above her making her look like Indira lokha Mangai or even more beautiful than anyone ever could describe.
'En Ilavarasiye' Vandiyadevan and went near her.
'Adada what a surprise!  Arakan has transformed into my husband' Kundavai said and laughed. Both their laughter filled the place and the fireflies fly around them creating magic in the air. As they both moved closer to each other until they were able to feel their breath hitting each other's face.
'Are we going to play hide and seek from now on?' Vandiyadevan asked and he softly moved her small piece of hair behind her ear and caressed her cheeks which are smeared with her blush. Who would know that the ever-intelligent and strong princess could able to be swooned by this Spy who captured her heart?
'Well you have already pledged your life to me and it's my decision whether to play with it or not' Kundavai replied and closed her eyes, she enjoyed his touch as much as he is enjoying being near her.
'Uyir Ungaludayadhu Devi' He replied and captured her lips softly. Both their lips molded perfectly, like a moth attracts to the fire their lips couldn't give a break. As the cold breeze swiped over them their hands found a way to undo the jewels and the clothing came apart. The night ignites their love and passion like a wildfire that doesn't seems to be off and only consumed more and more.
Everyone knows that Vandiyadevan is a skillful warrior and Kundavai now can able to feel it as he worked his hands on her body, she sang melody through the air. Kundavai doesn't know that lovemaking can be this pleasureful act nor she had done this before. She wondered if it was just her husband's way of letting her feel this way. As she reached the peak her cries were muffled by the lips of the warrior, who did wonders for her, he worshipped her body like it was the most purest thing ever. Her hands found their way to his shoulder, as she claws it out to mark the passion wounds.
As both of them lay there with her head against his head and naked as one born day, The moon shines above them indicating the night is still young. As Vandiyadevan softly combed his finger through her silky hair he felt her smile against his chest. Who knew that he would be the one to gaze at the moon with the princes blushing against him?
'Thuyil kol en Kanamma(Sleep my Kanamma)' He said and kissed her forehead, just like he said the fish-like eyes closed to welcome the deep slumber as she embraced his chest and he smiled and gazed at his love with so much emotion.
Current day
A shy smile erupted at the thought of their first night and Kundavai giggled at that. It is weird for her to act all girlish, but her love is making her feel everything all at once. She waited long enough to confirm that she is with the child and finally, it all came together, her periods are late, and for the last two months. But she still has to confirm with Raja Vadhiyar but it's damn sure she is with the child. Before the Vaidyar she wants her husband to know this and tonight it will happen.
As today is Krishna Jayanthi and everyone is currently at Pazahyarai Palace where they would normally listen to songs and drama for the day.
As she got ready and slowly walked out to find her love standing patiently at the door, as soon as he saw her his smile shines through the palace.
'Krishan kathai kekay selvoma?(Shall we leave and listen to Krishna Katha)' He asked and she nodded. The pair went hand in hand and got blessings from her grandmother as they sat next to each other. Kundavai silently prayed as they watched the drama that unfolds before them showcasing Krishna with Yasodha. The smile on Kundavai's face widen as she always loved hearing this story. The love of a mother and even though her child is not out yet she can now feel the bond.
But her smile from her face vanished and fear took over them. She felt a trickle of liquid touching her thighs and an uneasy feeling crept into her stomach. She looked at Vandiyadevan as he is now chatting with Senthan Amuthan.
'Patti please excuse me' She said and hurriedly but yet carefully went to her room without causing much havoc. As Vandiyadevan looked next to him only to find it empty he raised an eyebrow. He excused himself and went to find his ilavarasi.
As Kundavai got to her room and ordered not to allow anyone until she say so to her helpers. She hurriedly went to the back room and touched her inner thighs, and as she took out her hand it is smeared with blood. A gasp left her mouth and a small whimper came next. Just like their mother Ponni Nandhi, her tears are flowing down south with so much pain.
Why this is happening to her? This is supposed to be a happy day and how she planned to disclose this with her love. Their baby, her baby is gone and now this is all she is left with. She used the other hand to close her mouth letting her muffled cries be heard lowly, She doesn't want others to see her like this, no not in this state. This is the day of happiness and she doesn't want others to go through what she is going through. And if the news of her miscarriage went out it would cause many speculations.
As she sat there with her blood flowing down her thighs Vandiyadevan entered and saw the state his love was currently in. Bloody hands and bloody thighs exposed how she is in making him realize the situation. He silently sat next to her and just like always caressed her hair in a way saying that they will be fine, they will go through it. And just like that she cried out a river as she couldn't hold in any longer.
'Shh shh it's ok my Kanamma, I am here, I will be always here' He said and hugged her.
2 years later
'Have you noticed how our Ilavarasi is becoming more beautiful day by day' Said one woman
'Yes I have noticed, but what is the use of beauty if one remains barren' Venba said to another woman.
'What are you talking Madhi? You know if any royals heard you say that, they will have your head' Said Sandhya who is currently collecting flowers for the evening.
'Why would they? I am not saying any false information, I am just pointing out the fact right?' Madhi said and looked at Venba.
'She is our Ilavarai and we should make sure she is happy' Venba said calmly and shook her head at her friend and helping hand.
'But I am worried about our Ilavarasi, As she got married way before her brother and our Ilavarasar Ponniyin Selvar, but she does not yet birthed any children nor impregnated successfully' Madhis words made Venba think, it is true whatever her friend said and Chola Desam is yet to receive jewel from their beloved Ilavarasi.
The people of Chola desam went ecstatic when Ponniyin Selvar announced the new baby Prince who is named Rajendra Cholan born 6 moons before. A healthy baby boy was birthed by Kodambalur Princess Vaanathi. But it only made people question why Ilavarai Kundavai didn't yet get pregnant.
Many accused Ilavarai's marriage to Commander Vallavaran Vanthiyadevan is just for political agenda and the princess is cursed to have children that's why for name sake she married but still resides in Thanjai rather than to take the Magadai kingdom. But many praised the princess for the bold move and thanked that she chose the Chola kingdom always.
As the two women vent out their thoughts it's been heard by the one whose eyes never shed tears for many matters are now filled with salty tears. Ilavarasi of Chola desam Kundhavai Pirattiyar
As she heard those words she felt like a knife piercing through her skin. It is true though that she couldn't able to get pregnant after trying several times. It's like the gods are punishing her for separating Aditha and Nandhini. It's like she is cursed to not have her own children.
As she aimlessly walked she found herself at the doors of her standing there and watching the 6-month-old baby laughing, her Nephew, her brother's son, her best friend's son. A smile erupted at the sight of seeing the baby trying to roll over. As she went near and stood next to Vanathi who smiled at her Akka. But Kundavai could able to feel some eyes on her and that's not exactly a good feeling. Some of Vanathi's mother's side people are here and all she felt while around them is judgemental.
'Akka, why don't you hold your Marumagan, 'cause he never listens to me' Vanathi said and held out the beautiful baby boy to Kundavai who laughed it out and held him as if he is her dear life. The baby's soft skin made her heart flutter, as those big eyes watched her with so much love. As Kundavai pressed a tight kiss on her nephew's cheeks, all her worries disappeared. But a good thing doesn't last forever. She can able to hear the murmuring of the people surrounding them. Before no one dared to talk in front of her but now they got an escape route to make her feel like hell.
'It's not good for the baby' A light voice said and another one said 'What if something happens to the boy, she doesn't even have one' another said. As she heard those words she started to feel that if its true, maybe she is cursed.
'Vanathi, here hold your baby, I have to be somewhere' Kundavai said and fled from the place. But Vanathi knows that's not the truth. As Kundavai dashes out, She even went passed her brother and her husband on the way out and not caring about anything. Arulmozhi nodded his head at Vandiyadevan as he went to console his wife.
In their room, Kundavai stood on her balcony and glanced at the once luxurious green tree now fading and in the process of dying out, the same as the state she is in.
Feather-like hands touched her shoulder and she knew exactly who it is, as her mouth let out an angst cry that she ever did, and as she hugged her husband who is in the same state as she is minus the crying. Both of them prayed to all the gods to let this situation be different, Vandiyadevan wants his wife, his princess to be happy and he is mad at himself for not being able to give her a child.
'Kanamma, My Kanamma. Look at me' He said and her red glassy eyes looked at him with so many emotions. 'I know you are hurting, and I hope we don't have to go through this, but unfortunately, we had to. But remember I am here, treat me as your child to which I always care for you so that you don't have to worry about what others said. My Kanne, you know I can't live to see tears in your eyes. You are strong, intelligent, and more importantly, this Chola desams treasure. Why are you sad about things others are saying Vandiyadevan softly said to her kissing her eyelids as he spoke each word.
Calmness took over Ilayya Piratti who was going to so much in the last three years. First her elder brother's death and then her losing her unborn child along with a couple of miscarriages. Her body and mind couldn't take it.
'Maybe it's because of the sin I have committed. Maybe it's the way of god letting me know that what I did to Nandhini is wrong. And how I punished her for being an orphan is wrong' Her words made Vandiyadevan think about his Ilavarasar who he misses every other day. But to see his wife in his state he couldn't help but make sure that none of them knew what the future held and none of them planned anything.
'You did nothing wrong, you put the Chola Desam people before anything and their safety as your first priority.' He said and wiped her tears.
'Anal nirantha un Nenjai
Un Thuyilal pokuga' He sang those words again and again.
But the privacy is cut short when soft footsteps approach them. As they both looked behind them to see Prince Arunmozhi and Princess Vanathi who is currently standing with tears matching her Akka's eyes.
'Akka, you have lied to me' Vanathi accused Kundavai to which others looked shocked and clueless.
'I lied to you? What are you talking about Vanathi?' Kundavai asked as she straighten out her posture.
'Yes! you did. You said I am like your sister and best friend and my son is your son. But you are experiencing this pain even without letting me in to able to be with you. Why Akka? Am I a stranger or am I not close to you?' Vanthai's words made others smile sadly and Kundavai smiled at her best friend now sister-in-law with so much love.
'Why you gave back Rajendran to me, while you want to hold him?' Vanathi's question made Kundavai take sharp breaths.
'I am barren Vanathi and I don't want any evil to fall upon my Marumagan' Kundavai told to which Vanathi laughed.
'Akka, Did you remember how back then everyone said I am bad luck and how cursed I am the cause of my life? But did you make me feel that way? Aren't you the one who loved me unconditionally and made sure that your brother marries me? Then how come you are thinking like this?' Vanathi asked as neared Kundavai. Arunmozhi nodded his head at Vandiyadevan and went near to them.
'You are my Akka, and you are the one that guided me to who I am today, If my son got the same thing from you we don't need any other blessing. And if anyone dared to point out or said you are cursed then I think they are too blind to see what a blessing you are to our life' Arunmozhi said and hugged his sister. Vanathi held out the baby to Kundavai who went in to hug him to her chest.
'My sweet Marumagane, I love you so much, don't ever forget that, your Athai loves you' she said and kissed the boy as the baby giggled. That moment is the foundation of the Chola desam's next king who will be raised by his Aunt and would receive all the guidance under her and his family.

Young Mandhakini (Oomai Rani) and her emotions are always a mystery.
Did she cry a river, When she heard that her love married someone else? Did her cheeks turn red, when she and Sundhara Chozhan expressed their love for each other? Did her heart bleed, when she had to abandon her children? Did she rest in peace, when she finally lay in her love's lap as she passed away?
All these questions but no answers.

Aval - Ponniyin Selvan One-shot
(Preview)
'Why did you love him' A voice asked her.
'How can I not! It's him! It's always him!' Her voice held sadness and many emotions.
'Would you change things if you have been given a second chance?' The question made her look at her love who is currently sleeping and dried tear marks are now adorning his cheeks
'No, I won't. Cause I know I love him and for that, I can't make him lose his love. I want him to be loved as I would love him' Her words expressed her innocence and her love towards the person who didn't reciprocate the same feeling.
As she turned and looked at the person who question her and smiled. 'Would you?' Her question made the person stop thinking.
'What would I?' asked the voice hoping to see what she is implying.
'Would you change things if you had been given a second chance, for your love?' She asked smiling sadly,
With deep breaths, the person replied closing their eyes and smiling sadly 'I would' they answered.

Something in this makes me come back to this beautiful song again and again. Maybe is the voice, maybe is the music, maybe it was written by Thirugnanasambanthar, or maybe is the soul-capturing feel it gives and takes away your thoughts, heart, and everything.

Sea Of Desire (Sundara Chozhan x Mandhakini) - Chapter -1 - The Meet
Tumblr media
A raging breath filled with groans and moans escaped through the mouth of the person who was currently trying to reach the shore with all their strength. Tough times create tough men, and the ones who can pass through the said time will achieve glory as no one has witnessed.
As the warrior who currently, with the help of the log that was a part of his once glorious ship, which got wrecked by the storm, all his soldiers who accompanied him and his ship have been shattered, but his will isn't. The war between Panya and Chola ended when Veera Pandiyan went into hiding, which officially made him and Chola win, as one knows that only a coward would run away from the battlefield.
With several cuts and blood gushing from the wounds on his body, the young Sundara Chozhan, with all his energy, rowed the small wooden log, and his eyes were relieved as he saw an island just a few meters away.
With all faith in Emberuman Sivan, he rowed faster and let the waves do the rest; as his body touched the sand, all his strength went away, and just like that, his eyes got clouded with darkness; he prayed he would get a glorified death not like this. He tried to walk further and search for shelter, but his legs didn't move.
He envisioned himself in Thanjai with his family and childhood friend Vaanaman Maadevi, laughing at him for being senseless or talking about his beauty, boosting himself as he flirted with other women. He would miss her and wished she was with him, as she knew what to say to make him smile.
As his eyes started to close, he saw a petite figure running towards him. But he couldn't hold on to himself and let the darkness consume him.
Soft hands took hold of him, and beautiful eyes searched for any significant injuries. With all their power, they took the young warrior to a safe place, not knowing that he was the crown prince of Chola Desam.
Night time
Dim lights lit the area of the cave that is now sheltering two souls within. One cooks the dish to eat and provides it to the other. The other one is in deep sleep as his wounds are patched up.
As the eyes of the male fluttered open and his memories came rushing back into him, he abruptly sat, which caused his blood to rush to his head, and there came the pain; he groaned, and his vision started to appear clearer.
Sundara Chozhan would never forget that night, that face, that scene before him for all his life. He read about Mohini and how it would pry young men like him with its beauty; for a moment, he thought it was right before him. Her eyes are earthy brown, her skin is like golden milk that shines its beauty, and her hair is like kohl, which seems able to tuck anyone's heart towards her. His breath became shallow, and his lips dried as the essence of something mixed into the air that night. He never felt like this before, nor had he seen anyone more beautiful than the one currently before him.
He finally returned to his senses, shook his head, corrected his posture, and opened his mouth. 'Who are you?' he asked. With a beautiful smile, she took out a mud plot filled with a hot drink and placed it in front of him.
Is he sensing some arrogance in the beauty before him? Doesn't she know who he is?! Even if she doesn't know his identity, that doesn't allow her to ignore him. That is mannerless.
He looked at the drink before him, and the eyes slowly tried to eat him alive with a look of innocence. It's like he wants to dive into her pool of eyes and welcome death, even if that's what he has to trade.
But he snapped out of the daze and slowly picked up the drink. The smallest motions caused his shoulder to twitch with pain, and he remembered his injury. He gasped at the sudden pain, and a soft hand touched his shoulder, causing him to look up, once again captured by her eyes, face, and everything. A calmness radiates from her, and wisdom and wisdom in her.
Slowly and steadily, she raised the cup to his lips but stopped before getting it closer. She raised her eyebrow and nodded, indicating that he had to open his mouth. But why would he? What if she is a Pandya spy or someone sent to kill him?
But something about her made him keep his survival instinct away. He slowly started to drink whatever was in that cup, but his eyes did not move away from her for one second. His dark eyes tried to capture every detail of her face and expression. After all, he was used to women openly wanting him as he was the crown prince and would be a King one day.
But to his surprise, her eyes only focused on her task. Once the hot liquid disappeared into his mouth, she let go of him and returned to the burning fire pit, where she started to put away all the vessels at her side, probably to wash. Sundara Chozan's eyes moved as he focused on her figure, her long hair flowing as the wind carried her sandalwood smell to his nose. It made him daze in euphoria like he was in heaven, with her being the Urvashi.
He slowly lay down, and just like that, his eyes gave up and shut down. It was like he had no control, and the last thing he saw was the ceiling of the dimly lit cave.
Mandhakini POV
I heard a light slump and saw the injured man lying down. Concern overtook me as I went near him and checked his pulse, only to be relaxed that he went into a deep sleep and nothing serious.
I slowly caressed his dark, smooth hair. My eyes traced his calm face. He looked pretty young, seeming only a few years older than me. His clothes looked expensive, and his armoury indicated he was a warrior. I slowly traced his hands to find a ring with the Tiger emblem on his finger. My eyes widen. He must be from Chola Desam.
Does that mean the shipwreck contains people from Chola Desam? If not for the rounding eagles, she would not have found him, and the ship still in the middle of the sea looked pretty wrecked. My first instinct was to get him from the shore to a warm place.
Luckily, I could pull him over and cover him here. But now it looks like the shipwreck was not an accident. What if he and his crew got attacked by an enemy kingdom? I gulped as I went near the cave opening to examine the surroundings and listened carefully. I calmed down when I was sure that he was not followed and that no one was present beyond us.
He needs rest, but once he is awake, we must move or plan better if my assumptions are true.
With that, I returned inside and started to prepare some porridge so that we both could have some when he woke up.

Chinnanjiru Nilave - Part 3
BOLD Italics - Tamil
Normal Italics - English/Thoughts
(Excerpt)
Nila POV
'What is your name Devi, and where are you from' She asked as she held out something in a coconut shell, I looked at it and I think it is neermoru (buttermilk). I accepted it and drank from it only to witness the taste I never had before, woah buttermilk here tastes far better than what I had back home.
'You can call me Nila, I am an orphan' I said to her, to be fair I ain't lying. Her face was saddened at the news about me. But I gave a reassuring smile.
'I am an orphan too, I don't know who my parents are, as I was left in the temple and my adopted parents are the ones who took me in and took care of me' Now I know the reason for her sad face.
'Sometimes family is not defined by blood but by heart' I said and took her hand in me and squeezed which she returned as well. I didn't get her name, oh how rude I am!
'I am sorry, I didn't get your name' I asked and she laughed at that. 'I am Nandhini. Nice to meet you Nila' She said and I nodded my head.
'You too! And thanks for saving me' I said and hugged her, she makes me feel at home and I am grateful for it. And eventually, she asked about my clothes which she found very odd. But I told her that where I come from is just normal to which she looked confused but didn't question it.
