School Printer Appreciation Post
Towards the end of like term 3 I think, when I started printing out practise exams I got so obsessed with the engineering of our school printers. I found out that you can have the file print out in A3 with the pages arranged like a book so you just fold the thing in half once it finishes printing but what I REALLY LOVED WAS THAT IT COULD ALSO STAPLE THE BOOK FOR YOU
We used to have printers that'd look a little something like this, and they were a bit funky to navigate if you wanted to do more than printing, such as scanning, emailing what you scanned, copying, upscaling. You'd get the hang of it though if you poked around with it's capabilities.
Tumblr media
There were a few printers around the school, but the one accessible to all students was in the Resource Centre (sometimes we call it the RC, but it's pretty much our library (also our school LOVES abbreviations)). There's a printer in the year 9 centre if you can't be bothered walking to the other side of campus. Sometimes the teacher will just tell you to go to the RC, sometimes your lucky, and sometimes you're a yr. 12 with what I like to call, "jacket privilege". There's a printer in D-block, but that's the senior's domain. Aaaand there's also a printer in a building we call the DATS (Design, Art, Tech, Sci), but I swear the only people that use it are art students, teachers, and students printing stuff out last minute lol. Usually this printer takes the longest to walk to, thus it became ✨ forgotten coloured printer ✨ So pretty much we'd exclusively use the printers one in the RC, HOWEVER, there were two printers, one for black and white and the other in colour. You'd think they'd be labelled, but it was not explicit as to which was which. I swear we used the printers way more in junior years than in senior years (until we start printing out practise exams/sacs lmao) and our brains aren't fully matured, we weren't very smart 😭 So we'd send something for printing and maybe you'll forget to configure the file to print in colour so you'd walk all the way back to class just to print it again in colour, and then you print it from the wrong printer, and then you've spent a majority of the lesson trying to print a damn file, when we could've just brought our school laptop with us the first time. Honestly, looking back I think I intellectually levelled up when I brought my USB to print also USB compatibility!!!!! genius! ~ Being the only coloured printer there was often a line. It was fun listening to wacky yr. 12 conversations I remember when the printer ran out of ink and we were DEVASTATED. One of the students part of the class in the library told us to go to the DATS printer, and so we did. Not only was there a line, but an art teacher I didn't know very well at the time (now I call her art mum 😊) was printing out a big batch for her class 🙃 ~ Eventually we noticed that the coloured printer has colourful fishies on the wall above it. Not that difficult to remember, so it was fun helping other people with this fun tip :) ~ Our new printers look like this! And I love them. They look nice and easy to work with 😁 I think this the right model. There were some models with different names that looked exactly the same to me
Tumblr media
Took me a while to figure out where to tap my card. A very subtle design :O It was WAY easier to navigate. What I found cool with the new printers was that it allowed you to adjust to saturation of your prints, whether it was in colour or in black and white. Most importantly ALL OF THEM had coloured ink What everyone else’s experience with their school printers?

Will there be any more prompts?
hi hello!!! this blog has been suuuper dead. mod tragedy is super busy, and i think qce might've just lost interest in tumblr altogether, but im still around!! (also, im engaged to my qpp now??? queerplatonic MARRIAGE is REAL guys)
unfortunately i dont think im all that good at coming up with prompts on my own :( i started this blog because i really want to see more qprs written about and drawn in fandom! ill try my best to come up with some ideas if there's still interest in filling this niche! in the meantime, the inbox is always open for you to send prompts of your own!!
now, this part is slightly unrelated but since this blog has been dead, i want to say it somewhere! i know a while back there was a movement to start (tagging QPRs on AO3) with the tilde (~), but AO3 support didn't go for implementing the idea on their own? if i recall correctly, they told everyone to just do it themselves and added the idea to a waitlist. which... means we'll probably never see it, given AO3's track record :(
but since then, ive come across a different archive project that's just like AO3 called squidgeworld archive (SqWA)! they've (officially implemented the tilde as a relationship marker, as well as given QPRs their own relationship category)! its been super refreshing to be able to correctly tag and post fanfictions on there as QPR and have it be recognized, so that's where ive mostly been posting my own works. the tag wranglers on SqWA are also super quick to canonize tags and make them available for everyone to use, so it's very easy to trailblaze a fandom on there, and squidge is extremely responsive to their users so it feels a lot nicer than AO3 :)

Hi, Kirri! I'm from South America and I'm trying to do a research about australian high school. I would like you to clarify some questions I have about school subjects, like: which ones are optional and which are mandatory? also, if you could send me some reliable websites than i can look up. every website i see says something different, can be very confusing so I decided to ask a australian person. Thank you!!!!
Hi, hey, i've been summoned! Okay, i'll admit to you upfront, it's been a hot minute since I was in high school so my knowledge is partly from personal experience but also what is published online. The school structures and curriculum differs from state to state, so it's no wonder you had trouble finding clear answers. I'll try to explain simply:
Australian high schools run from years 7 to 12. (We actually have 13 school years in total including Kindergarten, or preparatory, which is not numbered.) Students can finish in year 10 if they choose not to complete their senior years and test for university entry. If a student finishes in year 10, they get a Record of School Achievement; if they finish senior studies, they get a certificate of education depending on which state they're in:
NSW - Higher School Certificate (HSC)
VIC - Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)/Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)
QLD - Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA)
SA - South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE)
WA - West Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)
TAS - Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE)
ACT - Australian Capital Territory Senior Secondary Certificate (ACT SSC)
NT - Northern Territory Certificate of Education (NTCE)
The national curriculum has eight compulsory learning areas, which can be categorized into subjects:
Tumblr media
Then there are a wide range of electives, which vary greatly depending on region, type of school (state-funded vs private/faith-based) etc. Students in years 9 and 10 typically choose three electives. Here is an example of electives available to a school in NSW.
In addition, many schools offer the opportunity to study a vocational (often trade-based) course in preparation for studies after high school, called TVET (TAFE-delivered Vocational Education and Training). Many of these course results in credits toward school outcomes. I guess you could say that TAFE to Australia is like community college to the US.
The school year is broken up into four 'terms', with dates varying between states (see links at end for a list). A typical school day goes from 8:45am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday, with breaks for recess and lunch between period. A 'period' = one class, which typically runs for 40 minutes.
Upon completing senior studies and final exams, students are given an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank), which they can use to select and be admitted to university. In fact, senior exams have just begun so it's a good time to keep an eye on social media and see how current students are talking about the experience! 'ATAR Day' (when rankings are released) is on December 14, another time to take a look.
Australia also has specialist high schools, such as creative and performing arts schools, intensive English centres (for students with English as a second language), sports schools, and technology schools. All of these must teach the compulsory subjects, but offer the chance to specialize in these areas.
Websites where you can learn more about the Australian curriculum:
Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 Australian Schools Directory
Study Australia
ACARA (for statistics)
TVET
ATAR
Hopefully that will help you! I hope you don't mind that I posted this answer but I thought it might be useful to others as well. If you have any other questions, go ahead and ask and i'll do my best!

She’s wearing the Queen Mother’s (QCE)robe. Charles may love her and be stupid af when it comes to her but he’s waited his whole life for this, she’s not getting any Regnant regalia, strictly consort. I’m surprised she’s even getting new for the second robe since he is wearing his Regnant grandfather for both.

When noodle brought ace over shw introduced them and qce was actually quiet intimedated by russel, but russel flashed the kindest smile and stuck his hand out to shake and just that made ace feel at ease.
On the other end there was 2d who tried to impress him with american slang and it failed. Ace, at first, was being rude to 2d, but noodle pulled him aside and told him to be nice because that's who's mainly writing the music so he'll have to follow him and like ace knew 2d was the singer, but did not expect 2d to be the one in command. From then he was polite to 2d and tried his best to get along with him.
awwww yeah this is cute
I seriously love Russel and Ace's relationship so much like you wouldn't expect one of Murdoc's friends to get along with Murdoc's #1 hater but here we are and it has so much potential to be so sweet
