First thing that comes to mind is that Balsam is like,, naturally kinda gentleman-ly? Like he's still a dumbass that won't put on a shirt but it's just his nature to open the door for you, pull your chair out, walk you home, etc etc.

Not to say he can't or won't be raunchy and crass when he wants to be. He totally will. He doesn't really care about what people around him will think, and while he does care about your opinion, he's also self-confident enough to be comfortable being a dumbass.

If someone gets your order wrong he will politely but firmly let them know (assuming it isn't something that can be fixed simply). Meanwhile if something is wrong with his food I don't think he even notices.

Offers you his arm when you guys walk.

He likes to tell you stories!! But then he starts laughing before he gets to the punchline and then the laughter makes him keep laughing and then he has to clutch his chest for a couple of minutes because he's wheezing too hard. And then the punchline is something dumb. He'd be right at home on r/contagiouslaughter

He always brings you a little gift. Sometimes it's flowers, sometimes it's pastries, sometimes it's random shit he found in the marketplace that reminds him of you.

So,, many,, kisses,, Cute little ones. Your cheeks, your forehead, your nose, your wrists, your fingers, etc etc. You smooch him somewhere and he gets a little blushy but he laughs and scoops you up in a hug.

Puns,, dumb dad jokes,,,, he likes making you laugh.

Someone tries to mug you guys and he just fucking headbutts them on impulse. Then gets a headache. Idiot man. Please get him an ice pack.

He likes taking you to cool places because he loves seeing that look of awe in your eyes.

He does not understand Earth stuff but he tries to make Earth jokes. They're completely incomprehensible most of the time but he's trying and that's what counts.
