Day 11 of Rammstein's Countdown to Halloween

Tonight, Split (2016, dir. M. Night Shyamalan)

Plot: Three girls are taken and imprisoned by a man with dissociative personality disorder somewhere in a underground cellar.

Okay, now I know he gets a lot of crap sometimes and I'll admit, the live action Avatar, The Last Airbender was a hit and miss, but I actually really enjoy Shyamalan's films. I think they are creative and very intriguing to say the least.

Now, Split is a part of a trilogy known as The Unbreakable Trilogy (or Eastrail 177) which a superhero thriller/horror story that fallows a man known as Mr. Glass who goes out of his way to make superheroes, just like the comic books.

Now, despite it being a part of something bigger and don't get me wrong, it's actually on of my favourite trilogies ever, other than The Hobbit/Fellowship, haha and I actually feel that Split can be its own stand alone film. Now honestly, I think that is absolute amazing when you can a film that is a part of a franchise, let alone, the middle part of one, and stands out from the rest that really says something and I think that's all thanks to the writing and acting done here.

The writing is so powerful and really you can see that this film was written with care. There are so many great lines in here it's just wow.

The set up and design for the film just scream thriller and help set the dark undertone for the film.

Finally, the acting from the leads alone is just wow. Really, every member did an amazing job.

Ana Taylor-Joy is such a convincing final girl and to be me, she fits as one of the best scream queens ever.

James McAvoy, I just don't know where to begin. I honestly think did does NOT get enough recognition for his work, especially for this performance. The fact that he can just switch characters/personalities so seamlessly and effortlessly just blows me away. He delivers ever line with such force and grace he honestly carried this movie.

I recommend this whole trilogy, but definitely take the time to look this one over, it deserves all the attention it can get.

you know after growing up w rammstein and it being my main fixation for several years in HS and pretty briefly being in the “fandom” (here actually bc twt wasnt rly a popular site for fandom stuff yet, i rly only remember tumblr and deviantart for that) it makes me rly glad i wasnt into ghost back then lmao

#putting aside everything thats happened surrounding rammstein and till in the past few years #like ppl are obnoxious and rude and say stupid shit to/ abt tobe and the ghouls #but that tends to be a v small fraction and ppl defend them #but this was early early 2010s tumblr before it was known for discussions of minorities and political correctness and whatever #ppl just said ANYTHING and others went along with it #and a lot of it was horrific fatphobia and misogyny brought over from the 2000s since most of the prominent ppl in the fandom here back then #were adults #i specifically seeing so much shit abt richard in particular #ppl acting disgusted w his body bc hed put on weight and had a belly/ bigger arms by the lifad era and was shirtless onstage a lot #which was always crazy given he stands next to till who has ALWAYS been a bigger guy yet indisputably been the most widely adored by fans #and oh my god the way ppl would talk abt their wives/ girlfriends. #even then as a teen inwas SHOCKED by some of that shit lmao #i vividly remember somebody making fun of one of richards exes #i think abt alleged unfaithfulness while touring which i dont know if there was ever any truth behind #i vividly remember somebody saying ‘if inwas married to him id send him on tour with a box of condoms bc its inevitable’ #LIKE GIRL WHAT #ppl complained so much and still do abt tumblr being so PC #but this was an absolutely LAWLESS place before then let me tell you #those examples are still on the tamer side for sure #kids today will never know how common it used to be to say you wanted somebody you were attracted to to rape you. #like rape THEM like not ‘i wanna fuck him’ it was ‘i want him to rape me’ #ABOUT REAL PEOPLE #it was insane

It's so funny that you brought up Rammstein because I was so close to mentioning them in my other post! They definitely feel like a band he got into just from hearing them a bunch in his house when he was a kid, yes. I can't decide if I think he'd still be listening to them as an adult man in his mid-late twenties lol. Maybe? I have to admit they've got a ton of bangers, maybe they're on one of his driving playlists or something. And yeah Ohne Dich is a secret fave, so is Engel, uhhh. Fruhling in Paris. He's a sucker for those. I also imagine Mickey as a kid having to listen his brothers or cousins make shitty comments about Rammstein's more homoerotic lyric content and stage antics, which sucks, but it feels so real.
