Black characters that are more than their trauma and oppression. More than what our own society says Black people are. Real representation even if it’s in an alternate universe.

Black people have never been as worthless as we’ve been told we were. Seeing Black characters be voiced by incredibly talented Black people in a massive show like Arcane will always make me feel proud 🫶🏾

Apologies for any inconvenience, but it kind of bothers me when people say things like “Powder killed Silco, Jinx avenged him,” or stuff like they’re different people and I feel like that kind of…. Misses the point? Like, Powder and Jinx are the same person. Different, but it’s not like Powder got possessed.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m missing the point? Maybe I’m dumb.

Totally not dumb!!! A lot of people have spoken about this and I hardly have the capacity to really dig deep into Jinx’s character and all of her complexities.

But as others have already said, Jinx and Powder are not separate beings. The future is never certain and saying that Powder was “possessed” by Jinx (by her trauma and by her mental illness) takes away basically all of her agency. Powder and Jinx has made choices and experienced things that make her who she is. There were many paths that Powder could have gone down and some of them probably involved a young death, Powder walked down Jinx’s path with Silco.

We all change. None of us are the exact same people we were when we were nine. There are remnants of the people we were in the past but we evolve and change. Some might say we’ve become different as if we’ve gotten rid of who we were before when in reality we’re the same person with more context, more trauma and/or more experience and in a different year.

It’s the same for Jinx.

It’s kind of how Vi may see Jinx. Vi has her own idea of Powder and who she was supposed to be in the future, but, again, that was never guaranteed.

Jinx is Powder and Powder is Jinx. The only differences are the time, influence and name.

TLDR; not different person, just different stages.

Obligatory Jayce stan comments:

- he wasn't wrong about Heimer. Dude has been on the Council for like a 4 days. Heimer has been head of government for over 100 years. He might not have contributed to the current situation of the Undercity, but he sure as hell did nothing to help. But something that is often overlooked is that Jayce wanted Heimer out because he would have prevented the research of the only thing that *might* save Viktor. And how could he not? Heimer told them that Hextech was dangerous, but then it brought a new era of progress for Piltover. He told him not to announce the Gemstone, it got stolen within 24 hours. Now Heimer is saying to his ~best friend~~ "sucks you are gonna die but you are not using the hexcore". That's when Jayce finally snaps

Also people is like "oh but he got corrupted by politics". And forget the context: if he wanted his inventions to ever see the light of day he needed to make those deals. He says it literally the next scene, about how the people will built wonders after they get the tech to the common man

I honestly need more Heimer next season. Like I NEED to know more about Piltover’s past, his own experiences and how he saw Piltover develop. I want to know why he let the Undercity just suffer because there is simply NO WAY he just said “oh well” and went about his day waddling around.

I do think the way he doesn’t value life is very harmful but also super interesting in the same regard.

Jayce and Viktor’s dynamic is about to go absolutely crazy and I kind of love it. I think it might kind of give the same vibe as Vi and Jinx in the sense that Jayce wants to help Viktor despite the fact that Viktor would be harming both Jayce and himself

Oooh we are protecting my baby boy Jayce?? Pls let me vent about one of the biggest misconceptions of the fandom and also one of the main reason people hate Jayce aka those who think he is like... super rich

And I'm like no???? THAT'S LITERALLY ONE OF HIS PROBLEMS AND CHARACTER TRAIT during act 1. The creators literally said he is middle class. He needs the Kiramman's patronage not only for his hex research but just to manage paying for his studies in the Academy, and even after the whole "Face of the Future" he STILLS seems to be under the wings of Mel and Cassandra. He mentions how the only time he went to the opera house was for a very special occasion with his parents. Even when we get a glimpse at his house and bedroom, it's way more small and down to earth compared to Mel or Cait's. When his mother is bargaining during the trial, she starts with an apologetic "I know my opinions doesn't matter much because I'm from a lower house". People are like "oh but his dad was a factory owner" THEY LITERALLY SAID WORD BY WORD is the Talis family workshop, that's not nearly the same scale

Jayce's economical position is important because it tells the audience how there's different social classes even within Piltover, and how is not normal how super rich some of them are. Jayce looks rich because, in comparison, Zaun and Piltover's middle classes are leagues away.

I don’t even have anything to add lol you’re just right.

Jayce is of course a million times more privileged than anyone in Zaun will ever be, but compared to his peers up in Piltover? It’s why so many of them think they can disregard him and even manipulate him for their own personal gain.
