An angsts happy ending fic during miluca and Alex being absolutely crushed to the point where he avoids everyone. Liz is a good friend and Isobel is forced to sit with Alex and learns how fucking sweet and awesome Alex is and he says “Isobel I love your brother so much” and breaks down in her arms and Isobel becomes a member of the defense squad and Michael gets jealous of Isobel being so protective of Alex and thinks she’s gonna turn Alex against him but Malex end up together
That sounds like an amazing thing to read but I’m not a writer, boo. I can tag some of the Malex writers if you’d like and maybe they’ll write it? Did you mean to send this to me?

104. “I’ve never felt stronger than when you’re with me.” // Malex
So this, uh….did not go where I thought it would go. Also, for the record I am very much a member of the Michael Guerin Protection Squad but I also feel for Alex after the finale, soooooo…..
When Michael and Isobel decide that, with their new abilities developing at an astonishing speed, they might be able to resurrect Max, Alex is skeptical to say the least. But, then again, he’s kept his distance from Michael - and by extension Isobel - since Michael had chosen Maria over him. He’d kept his distance from everyone, really. He’d felt betrayed by Maria and even Liz, who had encouraged their mutual best friend to pursue a relationship with the love of his life. That had left Rosa and Kyle, and Alex was still getting used to Rosa being back, and avoided her out of sheer weirdness. When Alex counted Kyle Valenti as his best (and only) friend, he knew that he was truly screwed.
Six months after Michael had left him waiting at the junkyard, Alex is surprised to find Michael waiting for him on the front porch of his cabin. Alex meets his gaze, the two staring at each other while Alex debates the merits off turning his SUV around and driving away. But, he reasons, there’s few things in this life that actually scare him, and Michael Guerin isn’t one of them.
“What are you doing here Guerin?” He asks as he steps out of his car, Michael hopping down the stairs to join him in the front yard.
“I was hoping that we could talk.” Alex watches as Michael shoves his pockets in his jeans, staring at the ground.
“Depends on what you want to talk about.”
“I’m sorry.” Michael blurts out, and Alex freezes in place. “I’m sorry for how I ended things with us.”
“You ghosting me isn’t exactly ending things.” Alex points out. “Though, I guess you still got your message across.”
“I didn’t mean to ghost you, I was just…I was in a bad place, I wasn’t thinking straight.”
“Honestly, Guerin, if all you want to talk about is this, I’m not interested.”
“I need your help.”
Alex pauses, staring at the sky. He wants to say no, wants to brush Michael off without a second thought, but he knows that’s not possible. It’s never possible for him when it comes to Michael.
“With what?”
“Isobel and I think that we can bring Max back.”
“Yeah, Kyle told me. I hope it works out for you.” Alex moves past Michael toward the cabin, wrenching his hand from Michael’s grasp when the other man wraps his hand around his bicep. “Don’t touch me!” He snarls, stepping away from Michael so quickly that he almost trips over himself.
“Don’t touch me.” He repeats, and this time even he hears the hurt in his voice. “Just tell me what you want from me or leave me the hell alone.”
“We’re tapping into new powers, things we’ve never done before. It takes a lot of energy, and it drains us. Liz broke her wrist the other day, and Isobel nearly passed out from healing her. We need to be at our strongest if we’re going to resurrect Max.”
“So why are you here?”
“I-I need you, Alex. I need you there with me when we try. I’ve never felt stronger than when you’re with me.”
Alex feels like he’s been punched in the gut, though he fights to keep his face in check and his breathing even.
“Why me? Shouldn’t your girlfriend be able to give you a power boost?” The word girlfriend feels like acid on his tongue. He doesn’t hate Maria, he could never hate Michael, but he hates that the two people he was closest to in the world have done this to him.
“Maria’s not my girlfriend, not anymore.”
A dry, dark chuckle escapes Alex before he can stop it, shaking his head.
“I’m sorry your attempt at normalcy didn’t work out for you.”
“Damn it, Alex!” Michael snaps, running his hand through his hair as he rushes up to Alex. “This is not about that!”
“That’s what everything is about for me, Michael, don’t you get that?” Alex feels his calm flee as he steps out of Michael’s space again. “Everything I do, every decision I make, it all comes back to you. Enlisting, Project Shepherd, fighting my father, spending the last six months of my life tracking down any reference to the crash, any chance that I might be able to give you back what my family took. It’s all about you, because I love you, even if you don’t love me anymore.”
“I will always love you Alex.” Michael replies fiercely. He looks like he wants to reach or Alex, but doesn’t after being rebuffed twice. “That will never change.”
“Then why did you leave me alone?” Alex can hear the crack in his voice, and it’s only then that he realizes that he’s crying.
“No, no, no, no.” Michael pushes past Alex’s defenses at that, gathering him in his arms. “You are never alone. I’m sorry I ever let you think that.” Alex feels slightly mortified that he’s clinging to Michael, but he doesn’t pull away. He sobs into Michael’s neck, letting himself feel every bit of sadness and heartbreak and grief that he’s pushed away for the last six months. He and Michael have been separated by distance and time before, but never like this. It had never felt so final, Alex had never known in his bones that they would never have this again - not until the day he had left the junkyard to drown his sorrows with his best friend and found her kissing Michael against the bar.
Once he finally feels calm again, Alex pushes away from Michael, wiping his eyes with the sleeve of his jacket.
“When are you going to try to resurrect Max?”
“Alex…”
“I’ll be there, if it helps bring Max back.” Alex interrupts, turning away from Michael and back toward his cabin. “But then we’re done, understand?”
Alex doesn’t wait for an answer before slamming the front door behind him.

A continuation of this mini fic by @reachedthebitterend. You should totally go and read it.
There’s nothing quite like waking up after a drunken night with acid in your stomach, pounding in your head, and the knowledge that you did something incredibly stupid. Alex might not remember exactly what happened, but he did remember talking a lot. He remembered admitting a lot. Christ, he did not want to have to deal with Maria’s interrogation today, even if he wasn’t hungover to all hell. He told Maria about Michael, he knows he did. He was at the bar, there was nothing else on Alex’s mind, not when Michael looked as sad as Alex felt. Alex closed his eyes and rolled over to bury his face in his pillow. His pillow that smelled like Michael. You smell nice... like Michael... the only way I can fall asleep.
Yeah. He really did say that.
That didn’t explain why his pillow smelled like Michael though, nor did it explain why Maria smelled like Michael last night. Alex opened his eyes to see black fabric which made no sense because his sheets were cream. He sat up in bed and looked over at his pillow. There was a black t-shirt bundled on top. Alex’s hungover brain could neither comprehend nor explain why a t-shirt that smelled like Michael could possibly be in his bed.
As he sat in his bed, Alex tried to take stock, tried to remember what he said, how he got home, and why he was only dressed in his boxers. Maria usually left him in his clothes. She didn’t know how to deal with his prosthetic and she definitely did not know his preference to sleep in very little. Honestly, not many people got to be there when he slept. Alex took a deep breath. Things were a little unusual, but he could deal with it later, after he got some breakfast and felt a little more human. Plus, he owed Maria food for driving his drunk ass out here. He was debating about putting back on his prosthetic when he heard noise from the kitchen.
There was no way Maria was up at 7 after driving him home, let alone making him breakfast.
Alex put on the black t-shirt and grabbed his crutches. He tried to think of who could have driven him home, who Maria would have asked to drive him home. Liz wasn’t even there last night. The only person there that he knew at all was Michael. Alex froze. Dread beat out the nausea in his stomach. It had to be Michael, who else knew how to take off his prosthetic? Who else knew how he liked to sleep? Who else would leave a fucking t-shirt on his pillow when he found out that the comfort of having Michael close was the only way he could fall asleep?
Shit.
Shit shit shit.
As he walked into his kitchen, Alex steeled himself. Whatever was coming was not going to be pretty. He stood in the doorway and watched Michael at the stove. He was making omelets with everything Alex loved, because of course Michael Guerin remembered how Alex likes his eggs. Of course he remembered the kind of food Alex liked to eat when he was hungover. Michael stood at the stove, shirtless, with two mugs of coffee at his side. He turned he when he heard Alex finally take a step into the room.
“Hey,” he said face blank and eyes downcast. “I think we need to talk.”

I love the whole michael calling alex out about the arrests because my head canon is that they used to get in trouble together.
Oh my god absolutely!!! I have the exact same headcannon. They were naughty af together. Alex is a little dark horse. I think he was even more of a bad boy then he lets on. But in my head Michael took the fall for him a few times to save Alex from his father. I also believe signing up for the army was Sergeant Manes's way of taking control back in his rebellious sons life.

It's the look in his eyes that gets me. He's so earnest and sincere. He wants Alex to know that just because he's done this before doesn't mean anything because Alex already makes him feel more than anyone he's ever been with.
Yes 😭 I also like the almost bashful way Michael said “well, yeah” after Alex asked him if he’d done this before. He looked so young and nervous because he KNOWS this means more than awkward teenage fumbles in the backseats of cars. The look on his face made it clear he knew this was a Big Thing (of course it ended up being even MORE of a Big Thing than he realized but we don’t talk about that).

thanks, i hate it!! like i had assumed michael was the one to figure it out, but never that THAT was the way, and it makes SENSE and i hate it
Sorry? But doesn’t it just feel like something that might have happened? Also do you think Michael would have told Isobel and Max HOW he found out? Or would he have tried to protect them from knowing? I mean the Michael who we know now would definitely have kept it secret but from what we saw in the flashback when he was younger he shared more of the pain in his life with them - like the attempted exorcism, then again even then he said with a joke, so I can see him making a joke out of the acetone experience too?

“Ugh, they’re so gross.” Maria turned to see Isobel coming to stand next to her at the sink, a smile on her face as she watched Michael and Alex wrap their arms around each other, Alex kissing Michael’s cheek in greeting before returning to his conversation with Kyle.
“Happy couples are the worst.” Maria agreed, handing over the dish she had been watched for Isobel to dry.
“Tell me about it. And it’s not like the dating pool in Roswell is exactly deep.”
“Have you been dating?” Maria asked. “Since…?”
“Since Noah? No, not really. I mean, I want to, but I don’t really know where to start, I guess. After I graduated, Noah was just…there, and that was it. Before that, there was only Rosa but I can’t be sure if that was me or Noah.”
“Have you ever been attracted to another woman?” Maria turned the water off and dried her hands, turning to lean her hip against the sink so she could look at Isobel. They weren’t exactly friends, but Maria had to admit Isobel was a lot more likable now that she was out from under Noah’s influence. “Besides Rosa?”
Maria watched as Isobel flushed, looking away as she set the last dish in the drying rack.
“Maybe?” Isobel finally admitted. “I’m not sure. I haven’t kissed anyone but Noah in ten years.”
“Can I try something?” Maria asked, quickly looking around to make sure that no one else was nearby.
“Try what?” Isobel looked wary, and Maria gave her a gentle smile as she placed her hand on Isobel’s arm.
“It’s just a shame that you haven’t kissed anyone but that monster in a decade. You’re beautiful, and you deserve to be kissed, often and well.”
“Wow, that’s definitely the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.” Isobel quipped, and Maria rolled her eyes.
“Don’t ruin the moment, Evans.” Maria replied. “So, can I kiss you?”
“Mmm-hmm.” Isobel murmured, using her arm to pull Maria closer. Maria went with the pull, cupping Isobel’s face before bringing her lips to Isobel’s. The kiss was soft and chaste, until Isobel sighed and opened her mouth, changing the angle and deepening the kiss. Maria pushed Isobel against the sink, slipping her tongue into Isobel’s mouth as her hands slid down the blonde’s waist. Maria groaned as Isobel’s grip on her waist tightened, pulling her lips away from Isobel.
“Wow.” Maria whispered, breathing heavily as she stared at Isobel, who seemed just as surprised.
“Yeah, wow.” Isobel agreed, her arms still around Maria’s waist. “You, uh, would you want to stay? After everyone leaves?”
“Can they leave now?” Maria asked, and Isobel laughed, before nodding her head and pushing Maria away.
“Yeah, dinner’s over.”

This is (mostly) what you asked for. Also, it’s cheesy. It’s so cheesy. I hope you like it.
It started out innocently enough, just a note asking where they were meeting after school or asking about a homework question. The ordinary things friends send back and forth. Then it was jokes about teachers and classmates, or dumb jokes about whatever they were learning in class. These notes were still benign, though they could have received detention if they were caught, but overall inconsequential. Slowly, they changed. They became another way for the two to bond, another way to share as much time with each other as they could.
Reading Walt Whitman for class- do you think we’ll ever talk about a gay figure without having to hear those assholes make a joke about me?
I hate that they do that to you. I hate that I can’t be there with you.
I’m glad they can’t hurt you too.
I missed you yesterday. When can I see you?
I can’t wait to hold you.
Alex thought it was dumb luck that they had never been caught. They’d slip notes into each other’s lockers. They’d pass notes during their study hall together. They’d kick notes along the floor when they couldn’t sit next to each other.
“We’ll get caught Guerin. And some of these notes I’d like to keep to myself, thanks.” He kept his hand clenched around the note Michael had sent during study hall.
You looked so cute doing your work, all I could think about was kissing you.
Michael never stopped, even if Alex never returned the in-class notes. He always waited until classes switched. Michael wasn’t as paranoid as Alex. Well, Michael knew that it was not luck that kept his notes from falling into the wrong hands. He knew that he could pretend to kick the notes, that he could control their trajectory, and that they would always end up right next to Alex’s shoe.
It was during study hall that Alex’s fear came true.
Michael had written his note, folded it, and dropped it to the floor. He had pulled out his physics work, attention on the note and not on the room, and flicked it to where Alex was sitting. Except, this time, the study hall proctor was there instead.
“What is this?” The teacher’s voice was loud and clear in the silent classroom.
Shit.
Michael had only a moment to panic. If she read the note, they were screwed. He wasn’t subtle and this teacher was known for reading notes aloud. She thought the embarrassment was enough to stop the students from trying. This was bad.
If Max ever found out, Michael was going to get a lecture and a half, but it was worth it. As quickly as he could, he concentrated on the note. Honestly, he had no idea if this would work, if he had enough control to change something so small. He had to try.
“Alex,” the teacher started reading, “did you want to meet after school for tutoring?” The teacher stopped reading. “Mr. Guerin, there is a time between classes for this kind of conversation. I suggest making plans during that time and not during study hall.”
“Yes ma’am,” Michael replied, barely concealed relief in his voice. Michael knew that the other students would think it was relief at not getting in trouble. Alex believed the relief was from the fact that it was that note, a note about meeting up and nothing else, was the one that was caught.
Michael turned back to his physics book and tried not to think about what almost happened, what the teacher almost read.

I still feel you on my skin. I close my eyes and all I see are stars and you, glowing in the starlight. I know we usually wait, but can we go again? Last night was perfect. I want to spend every night with you like that.

RNM Creators Week 2020
Ok, well I’m gonna give this a try. I normally only reblog stuff so actually participating in an event is making me nervous lol.
Before I started watching Roswell NM I’d never been on Tumblr, had never heard of AO3 and had never even read fanfic. Now, a year later, I have a serious AO3 addiction, check for new fic every day and have my own regularly updated list of the fics I love the most and keep going back to over and over again. So I have to take this opportunity to give some love back, as ”just” a reader.
Day 1 - Dynamics
This will mainly be Malex-centric stories, I have no other choice. They occupy a permanent spot in my brain now to an extent that I’ve never experienced before. It’s just how it is.
Narrowing this down to a few authors/fics has been really difficult, but here it goes...
The Cost of Greatness – @bestillmyslashyheart, @iwontbeyourmedicine /reachedthebitterend
Beginning with the exchange ”Don’t act like you love me all of a sudden” ”Are you fucking stupid?” just straight away sets the stage for a lovely satisfyingly angsty rollercoaster of emotions with an ”us against the world”-feeling that I am a complete sucker for.
Speaking of dynamics, this not only has a Malex dynamic I love, it is also a great duo of authors. They have some amazing stuff, both separate and as co-authors and I’ll happily just spend hours scrolling through their work. To name just a few pieces of brilliance: The red name, Alex Manes: Secret agent man, The last cut is the deepest by @bestillmyslashyheart and truth serum-ish (series), the person that you’d take a bullet for is behind the trigger by @iwontbeyourmedicine /reachedthebitterend
To raise a child – @haloud, @maeglinthebold /MayGlenn
This childhood AU is a really great series and I am immensely looking forward to continuing reading the 3rd part. It is so interesting to see the dynamics between the characters in this different, but still similar world.
This is also another set of authors who have put out some great fics together as well as separate. A lot of it is distinctly more adult content, but with really great characterizations and lots of emotions. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Repeating myself, but this author is another one where again everything is fantastic! When it comes to nsfw I love, love, love their Malex dynamic – as it is demonstrated in this little gem with the boys on assignment, featuring BAMF Alex Manes and overwhelmed Michael.

Last but in no way least – If I for some reason would have to choose only one fic to read from now until forever, this would probably be it. It just completely ticks all the boxes for me. It’s wonderfully long so you can just get completely lost in it, it also has a lot of amazing scenes so if you are in the mood for something specific – angst, fluff, nsfw, you can just dip into a specific part to get a quick fix. I get frustrated with the idiots speaking past each other, I cry over Alex hurting, I get a warm fussy feeling when they start opening up to each other again – it is all so very, very satisfying!
