You get a glossary, you get a glossary, you get a glossary!
Everyone gets a glossary
How does this work?
The Rolescape glossary reads an SKOS (simple knowledge organization system) and creates a page on Rolescape user profiles with a corresponding glossary. Any time a word or phrase from the glossary is used somewhere on Rolescape, a link pointing to the term in the user’s glossary is created.
The goal of this is to help make blogs and content more understandable as well as providing a basis for backstory. It would link posts with key terms and key terms with other key terms. Based on your glossary, terms in your posts and threads are high-lighted automatically, definitions are provided "inline" (as mouse-over effect) and links to the glossary terms are generated on-the-fly. The glossary is available as an extra resource on the blog and can be navigated to learn more about the knowledge domain instantly.
This can be used for terms, or even phrases, and you can choose whether or not you want to link to them on a post-by-post basis, so you won’t have to worry about giving repeated information every single time you use a word.
This will work with phrases/any keyword you set up and predefine.
USE CASE:
EX: If you are writing a thread with my character who is hard of hearing, i may add "hard of hearing" to my glossary so when it's mentioned in thread, you can hover over it and it will give you the backstory on how my character experienced an explosion.
I figure this will make interactions between people easier as sometimes characters have a LOT of backstory, and I know it can be overwhelming. This way, you can link to information only when it's relevant to your plot.

With all of the changes Tumblr has been making, and the Xkit developers constant work being continuously broken, I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands. I am currently in the development stages of bringing all the wanted aspects of role playing to an accessible, aesthetically pleasing social networking website (and mobile app) with customization features, full markup support, user layouts, internal messaging, archiving, organization and customization, groups, badge systems, ability to add multiple characters to a single account (child accounts), message as selected characters, build communities and rate the health of them, set writing goals, earn badges when reaching goals, etc.
SOOOO, without further ado… Attention developers, coders, writers, techies, anyone interested in helping at all regardless of previous experience. If you don’t code, that’s okay. I literally could use help anywhere. Seriously, if you’re a Virgo, you could help me organize this crap on GitHub (I’ve been so focused on code I haven’t even compiled it all in a single public area yet). I need writers to write content, artists to create content, graphic designers, curators, idea havers, dreamers, makers, etc. If you want to help, I have a job for you. If you have ideas, send them to me. If you have features you want, share them!
Developer experience is always a plus and helps things get done faster! Background knowledge with Firebase or AWS, electron, node.js, HTML, CSS, jSon and react. C++ and SQL experience would be helpful too! The more developers, the better.
I’m starting a discord server here called Rolescape (that’s the current proposed name of the app/site, but I’m open to ideas since I suck at them!), so feel free to join and get a conversation started and I’ll do my best to compile the necessary things everyone needs in order to contribute. Come and hang out, chat, complain, make friends, whatever. Like I said, the more help, the better!
This is in the very beginning stages, however I already have a layout coded and just need help implementing different ideas and handling the logistics ends of things (connecting the site to a server, deploying mobile apps, getting ideas structured, etc). This is a volunteer opportunity and I will be spending money out of pocket for this project, and eventually I will be posting a gofundme for contributions.
For now? I need a team, so if you’re interested, come on!

🌴 I've been rping for a very long time, as far as tumblr's rpc goes, we've been lucky in how long it's been around. I can't say I've loved it, I resisted coming to it for so long for good reasons, and I've been ready for a new place for years. Yeah, the community itself can be a steaming shit pile, if piles of shit were prone to harassment, but I mean the platform itself is what I want to be rid of. It isn't even years anymore between bullshit 'updates' that are hostile to rpers, as well as any sort of actual writing or blogging beyond one line shit posts. It's now months, if we're lucky anyway and they didn't tack on some idiocy in the works to force onto half the population as well as the shiny new turd of an update in the same week.
So, in addition to rendering the xkit features I used most useless or requiring a workaround to keep using until switching off npe beta is no longer an option, in addition to all the broken shit they openly state isn't a priority to fix, the fiasco yet again with tags, making it where submissions have to be posted then reblogged to add onto and tag, and the other tHInK oF thE CHilDrEn bullshit, now my shit is going to be cut automatically on the dash. Oh, but you can switch it off! No, you can switch off your own view of it that way, not how it affects your posts, original and reblogs, across the site. I'm not cool with that. I'm even less cool with how tumblr has decided on what constitutes a 'long post.' Really? REALLY? An example I've seen is, literally, one small static image with a four word caption, in small font, below it. If that's too lengthy for someone to scroll by on mobile, what the actual fuck are they even doing here, or expecting from being here? We were managing it just fine by tagging for long posts, even if I'd personally not follow people who wanted to slap 'tw' onto it. You need someone to tag for that and they don't? Unfollow! Tumblr users know how to use tumblr, even if some of them won't. It was yet another update we didn't need that impedes what I'm here for.
But, what am I going to do about it? I came here because there wasn't another place without tos that made rping difficult to impossible, character limits that are inapplicable, or that had a setup where replies wouldn't be ruined by being nested. There still isn't another place. I am begging people in the comments not to suggest Discord or tell me about Rolescape. Discord's character limits are a joke, even with Nitro. As for Rolescape, if that thing is functionally active before we all die of old age, I might die of shock instead, and even so, the shitty behavior seen on the tumblr account is the tip of the iceberg and I am not the Titanic.
Really didn't want to have to go back to forums, ever, and I didn't want to have to do all my threads in gdocs either, but I don't know what else to do. Tumblr being a hostile environment for writing isn't going to stop, and I'm tired of it. This is my hobby, I want to be able to enjoy it in a way that isn't despite the bullshit from not only the rpc self appointed content and censorship division but also the site itself. I rp because it's fun and chill, and since I'm not going to ditch my hobby, I guess I have to ditch tumblr. It'd just be nice if this wasn't the first time ever that I didn't already have a place to replace a defunct platform with. I know I can't be the only one feeling that.

Everyone out there looking forward to Rolescape, a lot of you have my concerned about its longevity already and it hasn't even gone into testing. So, let's talk about something in brief.
The right way to think about this:
Rolescape has a numerous promising features in the works that will allow you to better cultivate your space. You'll be able to better insulate yourself from drama and muns you need to avoid, have a great deal of privacy, and be better able to deal with problems in a meaningful way.
The wrong way to think about this:
Rolescape is a fix for all of the RPC's problems, I cannot wait to be away from all this drama and negativity.
The right way still keeps the responsibility on you, on everyone in the RPC, to not create, foster, or refuse to stay away from problems. It acknowledges the reality that two of the most awful RPCs to ever exist are the target user base for RS - tumblr and twitter. And it expects only what RS's responsibilities should be (coincidentally, what other platforms should have been as well, but we wouldn't be having this conversation if they didn't abysmally fail there) - providing functioning ways of blocking, filtering, and otherwise cultivating one's space. The behavior is up to you.
The wrong way poses RS as an unrealistically utopian place no matter its user base. These are not alright expectations from any platform, places are going to be what you make of them. The same muns are going to be there, the same problems will come with them. It's great that you're excited to have a fresh start with promising features that allow greater comfort and cultivation, but these expectations I see many of you expressing are only going to result in you putting the blame on RS when you run into the handful of muns you have issues with or discover that purity culture and callouts are everywhere.
Let me repeat: It's great that you're excited to have a fresh start with promising features that allow greater comfort and cultivation.
But I'm excited for RS as well, and I'd really rather not have it bottom-out before it really gets rolling when too many muns rage quit because a new, improved platform did not fix every issue they had with the community itself.
Please:
be excited
support RS with reblogs, donations, giving feedback, and/or joining the team
tell your mutuals about RS and why you're excited for it
join the discord server if you're into that
stay realistic that the site will be in testing when you get to join, there will be bugs and things both added and removed, that's what happens during testing phases
stay realistic that the same blogs and RPC issues will only be moving over to a new location, not ceasing to exist
appreciate that you'll be able to control this environment a thousand times better to stay away from all that, know that you will need to do that
I cannot say enough how relieving it is that Rolescape is happening, it has so many great things that can improve the experience. Every day, at some point, I think, "I wish Rolescape existed right now." But it will not fix the problems in the RPC simply by existing. Do not set yourselves up to be disappointed and angry, and in doing so, set up RS to fail. This is the single most promising RP platform I have seen in all two decades of RPing online, please don't do that.

Do y’all know of rolescape? I’m following that blog for a while already now, and their concept (about a website specifically made for RP and with so many cool features) sounds really really cool, so I figured I could mention.
Also, here’s a link to my most recent random post of Blackfire’s Takeover, I wanted to reblog it once more but now I did this OOC post so I probably won’t though screw it I’m queueing it up for another reblog during my sleep; tomorrow I plan on reblogging each of these posts (or those I actually like) once more and there’ll be one more new one too, but the Takeover is coming to an end so please take your chance while you can, if you wanna do something with it! If you still want to after the whole thing is over, you totally can still reply to some of these things though, I’d just probably answer them on Blackfire then since by then she'll be back on her own blog.

4. On your fandom.
One thing I’ve been seeing a lot lately with Marbles fandom is virtue signalling by people claiming you’re this terrible person if you write xyz and should not be doing so, google doc callouts for it, yada yada yada. This is...such bullshit honestly and it’s tiresome. This is not a blog that does the purity culture thing, and if anyone is bothered by it, there’s the door. If you’re going to take issue with a mun writing subject matter or a character that in no way expresses their views, you’re no longer allowed to consume any amount of “problematic” media. G rated only- movies, tv, books, the purest of pure. Cuz you cannot draw lines at censorship like that, and then you start to slowly have the line pushed further and further back until nothing is okay. So if you’re going to happily watch something, or read something, and then get pissy someone is rp writing it...hate to break it to you buddy, someone wrote and portrayed it already AND you consumed it. It’s not suddenly different cuz it’s rp. Just grow up and don’t follow people that write stuff that bothers you, have some self accountability and really understand mun ≠ muse. Unless someone is actually saying “I love this and agree with this and this is how I view the world in real life”...It. Is. FICTION!
11. On your character.
“Chaotic neutral never looked this good.” I’m quoting Dragon’s summary of my gang and well...I ain’t gonna argue it. Answered in more detail last ask tho.
16. On roleplaying in general.
It’s something that is unique to itself, like, not really anything I can do that is quite the same serotonin/dopamine fix of both creating something, making something for someone, receiving something from a friend, watching a story unfold, etc. It really is one of my favorite things to do for the past decade, it’s made me a better person for having experienced so many different view points and people, I’ve been forced (by my own stickler attitude towards getting things right) to research different topics to be sure I’m portraying it correctly, I’ve become a far better writer doing this than I ever was made into via my English class. While some of the behavior and opinions piss me off, I just try to communicate and when that doesn’t work, customize with removal. It will never be GREAT because it’s tumblr and it’s stagnant with a lot of immature mentality, lack of self accountability, circle jerking with positivity but offer anything actually helpful towards self improvement and it’s too brutal for people, etc. I will be quite happy when Rolescape is functional and I can start fresh in a place where accessibility, a proper blocking feature, mutuals only posting, etc will be available. I’m too old for the drama nonsense, people having a problem and saying nothing and expecting you to read minds, so on and so forth. I love roleplay, I hate tumblr, but until something else comes up, this is the spot most conducive to multi para/novella style like I like to do. It’s a curse.

A SOCIAL NETWORKING WEBSITE DESIGNED FOR YOU !
Tumblr media
Writing is a hobby we have all come to love and enjoy, one we use to escape from our own daily stresses and find ourselves looking forwards to at the end of a hard week. But with constant updates ruining the ability to do it smoothly, we’ve had to turn to extensions to make Tumblr functional for writing. RoleScape will change everything about the writing experience. A website that will to cater to the roleplayer’s needs, full stop. No messing around.
— WHAT IS ROLESCAPE?
ROLESCAPE is an accessible, aesthetically pleasing social networking website (and mobile app!) with a myriad of features that the roleplaying community, over multiple websites, have been begging for. Made FOR roleplayers, BY roleplayers, the site quite literally would not be possible without the help of the very community it’s targeted toward.
Rolescape aims to change the hassle of needing to use XKIT in conjunction with Tumblr to have an enjoyable experience. A website where the website itself is more than enough. Created by people who know what features you want to see. In only a couple weeks, this project has grown from an idea in one person’s head, a single post and an ask for help, to an entire community dedicated to bringing a much needed platform to the public—for writers, cosplayers, nerds, and role-players alike.
                             INFORMATION  — SCREENSHOTS
— HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We already got things started, and have put forth money ourselves to make this dream a reality. We purchased a server, a domain, and a host… and honestly? Stuff’s expensive. But the point is, things only happen because people MAKE them happen.
But there are still things you, the individual, and the community can do for us. Whether it’s donating to one of our sources linked below, reblogging this post or joining the discord server for moral support. Every action counts.

Answering some questions about Rolescape features!
What’s the deal with account types?
Every user who signs up for Rolescape will be asked what kind of account they’d like to create. The reason for this is to keep the experience as streamlined, relevant, and organized as possible for everyone. Because there are so many options implemented to be inclusive of the different types of roleplay styles, everyones Rolescape experience will be a little different.
For example, those of you who only write one character won’t need to worry about seeing multi muse features in their menus, or creator features in their menus if they don’t want to and will only see features relevant to their muse account.
Can I change my account type?
Yes, you can always change the type of account you have from your settings menu.
Will I lose any data if I change my account type?
No. Your personal data is stored on Rolescape servers and is tied to your user account, not your account type. The account type only controls what is visible to you at any given moment, depending on the account type selected.
What if I want features from more than one account type?
If you want access to all features, we have an account type called Rolescaper which opens up all available options to you. In the future, I’ve thought about allowing users to custom tailor their personal experience with a premium account, picking and choosing from different options they’d like to see at all times, for a small fee to keep the Rolescape servers going.
What are the different account types?
Rolescaper (Main account with all add-ons)
Creator (Main Account with tutorials/packs/resources add-on)
Multi-Muse (Main account with muse Manager add-on)
Character (Main account with character add-on)
RPH (Main account with resources and lists add on)
Resource (Main account with resources/boards add-on)

Introducing the fanfic library!
Users will be able to write long form, multi chapter fanfiction to be featured in the Fanfiction library. The following category ratings are as followed: NR (Not Rated), GA (General Audiences), T+ (Teen and Up), M (Mature), and E (Explicit). When rating your fanfiction, a label will appear beside the title. When hovering over the title, you will see the information regarding the rating. Fanfiction is to be rated on a series by series basis--meaning if one chapter is GA but another chapter is E, the fanfiction in whole must be rated E.
Every fanfic includes a summary page where you can see the author's summary/info about the fanfic and a link to their first chapter.
You have the option of uploading a fanfiction cover and a featured photo for every chapter that will display on the left hand side.

The coolest Rolescape features have been your ideas.
And we love hearing them.
If you have a suggestion on how to make Rolescape the place to be for roleplayers, let us know what kind of features you'd like to see implemented in the future!
Here's a list of planned and developed features that the community has given!
Thread Tracker - Track and manage your threads. Threads posted in the 'open starter' category will receive their own row of the table dedicated to the individual you're currently writing with. If two different partners reply to the same thread, they will be separated for a more organized view. The thread tracker also supports multiple muses. If you intend to write a thread with more than one partner, you can add each name to a dedicated field when you go to create the thread. Then, when making the post, you may select one of your partners from a drop down list to ping, letting them know it is their turn to respond. From there, your partner would respond, select the other partner from a drop down, and then ping them for their response. Then *they* would respond and ping you. This would go on until the thread is dropped/completed.
Match Me - Match Me is an opt-in experience for every Rolescape user, and helps others find you. List your favorite books, movies, music, fandoms, creative skills, tumblr URL if you so wish, guilty pleasures, etc. Ex: Users will be able to search by field in the member directory to find everyone who has "Spiderman" listed as a favorite movie, or "Harry Potter" listed as a fandom. If you don't want to participate in match me, simply don't fill out any of the fields and you won't be listed.
User Notes - Private notes for your friends! Similar to discord notes, you can save information available for your eyes only to help you remember certain things about specific individuals. For example: the users triggers, pronouns, etc.
Circles - A way to tailor your dashboard view to specific people you follow. Multi-muses can separate views by different fandoms if they wish, filtering between the different lists they've made to view the content they're in the mood for at the time. Create a new circle, and then add users to that circle. Circles can also be set to public, so you can display and share your circles with people who have permission to view your profile. This can be useful for RPH blogs or creator blogs who want to affiliate themselves or provide resources from different blogs without having to reblog all of their content constantly.

Here are some recent features that have been designed and implemented into Rolescape! We're super excited to see how everyone uses them.
Unlimited Groups/Subgroups
Here are a couple use cases for groups and subgroups that I think would benefit the community!
You could create a Hogwarts group, and add a subgroup for Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. The group moderator can control who has access to the subgroups. Each group (and subgroup) gets their own dashboard/wall, threads area, journals (a mashup of docs/wiki), a file manager, and folders.
You could create a server for you and a writing partner that have way too many ships, and add subgroups for each of your ships to keep everything organized. When making a post, you can choose to share it on the group dashboard or your personal dashboard.
Tumblr media
Polls
Ask your friends/followers for feedback with dash polls. You can ask a question, upload photos, list options, and allow multiple choices votes. You an also see the results of the votes right on your dash.

I think the "user-deletes, their-replies-get-deleted" might be a dealbreaker for me. I write very long, invested threads, so it's a huge blow to lose thousands of words worth of rping. People may also just copy and paste the replies to tumblr or another site for "safekeeping" if that ends up being a thing. Maybe a good compromise would be, if a person deletes, the replies for a thread get hidden (not deleted, hidden) for everyone except the rp partner(s) who actually did that thread with them?
I think that's a good idea. There are also plenty of areas for you to copy and paste content on Rolescape for safe keeping too. You have private journals/document storage, so I can see that being used as well. I will brainstorm some ideas, or at least allow threads to be handled differently.
Obviously, it's all going to be up to how smart I am in figuring it out so bear with me lol.

Since you asked! On the RPH end, it would be amazing to have options for asks beyond simply anonymous and not. I get many questions, obviously, and it would nice if RPers could select from a few options regarding the primary topic of their ask, then have the view of the inbox aggregated in this way. Then, I could filter by things like general/multiple question, vent, formatting, writing, interaction, and so on. When answering several questions in a detailed way, it can be much easier to tackle them by doing like questions one after the other. Also, I'm sorry if you've answered this and I just missed it, how would being both a roleplayer and roleplay help mun work on Rolescape? I know there are different account types, but if I have both, would I need to create two separate accounts still, or would I be able to switch between the dedicated RP and RPH spaces? The latter would definitely be so much easier and streamlined!
I hate having to have multiple accounts up, but do not want my RPH blog directly affiliated with my RP blog on tumblr. It can create some anxiety for inexperienced RPers when they see my actual writing, for example. So, as a further question, if it was all contained in one account where I could switch back and forth, would it be apparent to others what RP account was running the RPH account?
Hey there, these are fantastic questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
You've brought up a few features that I'm currently in the middle of working on as part of an overall larger project that will eventually roll out later on down the line after we've been live for a bit. One of those features was regarding the switching back and forth between multiple accounts/everything being on a primary account, and your questions pertaining to whether or not your followers would be able to determine which accounts belong to whom. As it stands currently, if you want to have an RP blog and an RPH blog, then yes, you will have to have separate accounts. HOWEVER, this will not always be the case. Eventually, you will be allowed to create a Parent account/convert one of your accounts into a parent account, which essentially opens up a whole other set of options that gives you access to a setting page titled "User Accounts". On that page, you can add as many separate accounts as you want (all with their own e-mail and password) These accounts can be any member type you want: creator, multi muse, character, rph, etc. When it comes to switching back and forth between them, any account listed as a child on your parent account will have a button that says "Switch" on their profile, as well as in your users page. Clicking "switch" will automatically switch you to that user's account. You can switch back by going to your parent account and clicking the same button. Nobody but you will be able to see which accounts belong to whom.
Now, as for your question regarding messages--what are your thoughts on me just allowing you guys to make your own contact forms with drop downs and such? I could also automate things so that when you create a dropdown subject, it creates a tag for it as well.
