so i got an email from RT about the last season and i'm kinda annoyed

first there was this:

brother, just say it was because of the strike lmao c'mon now. we all know that's why you're pushing it back

tho don't get me wrong, i will always support a creative team pushing a release date back to perfect the product (whether it's a show, movie, or video game), but this was just stupidly phrased and they coulda just said it. i'm guessing WB was like "no don't mention it at all for the love of god"

then there was this:

now the way this reads to me is that only first members get to watch the season?? traditionally, first members got the release ... well, first. then, non-paying members got the release a few days/a week later. that makes sense to me and it's how it's been since forever. the last time i bought a first sub was for the shisno paradox trilogy and i didn't need to be coerced into it; i wanted to see it as it came out. doing it like this seems really fuckin stupid.

and, in case anyone missed it, rt already removed all seasons of rvb off of their youtube channel. so the only "official" way to watch rvb (aside from DVDs/blu-rays) is their site.

not only that, but just seven episodes? and yet it's gonna be released as a (presumably) feature-length film? so if we're to assume the "movie" cut is gonna be about 90 mins long (being generous here), that means each episode is gonna be about 12-13 mins long, which is fine... but just seven? idk, for the last season, i would have thought they'd have gone all-out and produced a more "standard" length season.

for reference, the average season length (not counting rvb: zero) is about 19-20 episodes. the season with the smallest number of episodes (again, not counting zero) is s17 with 12. i'd have been satisfied with 12, but 7 is just... what. how are you gonna wrap up an entire 20+ year-long series with 7 episodes?? if the episodes were 30 mins long each, then i'd be like "aight let's go son" but if my assumptions are correct, 12-13 min long episodes isn't enough

idk, i was probably gonna renew my first sub anyway, but the fact that they're locking it out entirely unless you either buy first or buy WB's movie-version... it just seems yucky

tbh, if you ask me and consider all the main cast seasons, rvb ended with s17. it had the best wrap-up imo (aside from s5, but only OGs will agree that's a good ending point, myself included), and it tied up everything neatly and left it open-ended. the boys had their biggest adventure, donut got to shine (yes i'm biased), and it ended in a place where you could feasibly imagine them living out their lives in peace, like they deserve.

it's been a long time since i was active in rvb fandom (and it was here, on this very tumblr!) but i'm wary about going forward now. i'm gonna watch it somehow, but i've gotta figure out the best way to do so. i'm hoping they either clarify that they meant that first members are getting it ... first (as it has always been) and the wording was just bad, or they roll back on that stipulation and just leave it the way it was.

RVB restoration predictions

These are just my own predictions from what I see from the trailer and I want to write it down! I think this is going to be a long thread. Be wary of spoilers! Also sorry if there’s any typos

1. Grimmons moment???

This scene might be a grimmons moment. Even though I don’t think they will be canon at the end of the story, but Bernie did say there will be some fan-service in restoration (correct me if I’m wrong). Plus, where are the other reds and blues in this shot? THEY ARE SHARING A MOMENT TOGETHER.

2. Tucker/Meta will kill either Caboose or Carolina

Since we don’t see any Carolina in the trailer, I doubt that she is okay. It’s either they didn’t want to show her yet, or, she’s damaged or dead. Plus, this scene shows that Wash is in the hospital (Doc is also there) saying that “He (the meta) will kill us all.” Remember at the end of s13 it was Wash and Carolina rushing to help to the reds and blues. So something might’ve have happened between that. Judge by Wash’s reaction, something bad MUST happened to Carolina.

The Caboose part is based on this shot of Tucker/Meta grabbing his neck. HE HAS THE STRENGTH TO HURT CABOOSE. Again, Bernie did say he will take some risk in restoration and I think killing one of the fans favorite is pretty risky.

I also saw some theories of Sarge being killed because we can see others at the blood gulch in the trailer but not Sarge.

4. Return of a character

Who is this? While I think this might be a joke (maybe this is Donut lol) but if you look closer, it looks like this person is holding something (meta’s weapon??). So maybe this is a shot before the scenes of Meta beating the reds and blues.

Seriously, where is Donut? Don’t tell me he’s dead again.

5. Wyoming？？？

Either this is the new character or Wyoming somehow travel to the future with the time distortion unit. I would love to see him.

6. Other theories

- Tucker still have conscious and is struggling to get meta off

- Church will sacrifice himself AGAIN at the end of restoration

- It will end with “why are we here?” Or the answer of it

- maybe an open-ended ending like s13?

Final thoughts

I really hope restoration will be good but I’m kinda worry that since it’s short (like 80 minutes?) I think that it might be a little rush but I’m not sure. Even though RT is dead, I’m still really happy to see that they are giving Rvb a final send off. I hope there will be some Easter eggs of s15 - s17.

I’M REALLY REALLY HOPING FOR GOOD TUCKER CONTENT THIS SEASON. CHORUS TRILOGY WAS THE BEST HE’S EVER GOTTEN AND HE’S JUST BEEN GOING DOWNHILL SINCE (s18 was the fucking BOTTOM OF THE BARREL for him oh my fucking gd) but Tucker getting corrupted by the Meta COULD BE REALLY REALLY interesting, so I HAVE HOPE. He’s my favorite character and he CAN be a really well done and written character but I’m KIIINDA worried that he’s gonna be corrupted by the Meta WAY too quickly that we’re not even gonna GET much content of Tucker being Tucker, he’s just gonna quickly become an antagonist, and I REFUSE TO LET MY GUY GO OUT LIKE THAT. thank you for acknowledging s18 Tucker they totally get him wrong in the Second he’s introduced. the very implication that he wash and Carolina just left caboose even after all their found family spiel always hurts me

tuckers one of my favorites too and honestly I feel like he doesn’t need much more characterization, he’s one of the more solid characters and the fans definitely complain for simmons and sarge development for a reason (a focus arc, I mean. They’ve had plenty of silent characterization, sarge becoming more accustomed to the blues and grif, his speech in s8, simmons becoming less of a brown noser and more outspoken,) but the way his character has just been drilled into the ground is a lil horrendous. I want him to have a good note

Honestly? rvb has always been twisty as fuck. reveals out the wazoo. alpha director. alpha ai. felix bad. Carolina daughter. I’m betting that Tucker isn’t the big bad he’s portrayed as.

The Meta’s whole goal was to collect the ais and armor enhancements of other freelancer to power up and ‘become human.’ With meta tucker, all of the ai would already be in his head, so there would be no reason to attack any of them, unless you’re counting epsilon himself (which is sure to be conflicting asf to tucker if true). Notice how even after he has them in compromising positions, he doesn’t make any moves to actually kill them.

The timing of this is weird too. Wash in the hospital means it presumably takes place after s17 but before s18. So, where’s lopez? There could, of course, be multiple simulations running at once but that would suck Ass.

If my theory of halo infinite being the simulation game (as CE and Reach were before) then there’s a possibility they’ll be out eventually too. There were spottings of the filming on MCC.

I propose the idea that this season is epsilon’s final simulation before giving up for good. His worst case scenario. The thing he fears would happen the most. And Tucker’s role in this is to ‘collect’ him, and end the simulation so he can move on.

ok so in the RvB restoration trailer we meet this mysterious person rendered in the Halo Infinite engine wearing what looks to be dark standard issue armour

this persons identity is left unrevealed however i believe there is a significant chance (based on the very limited) information we have that it could be another iteration of Agent Texas

seemingly black standard issue armour, heavily modulated voice (similar to that used by Beta during S1), can be effected by memories/simulations from a version of Leonard L. Church and is capable of controlling a body. also the fact that they appear immediately after E Church is overcome by memories of Allison Church, the same thing that caused the initial creation of Beta and E Beta.

im prepared to be proved wrong and hope to be as the Tex-Church relationship had what i feel is a nice and tidy ending so bringing that back when they should be focusing on ending the rest of RvB would likely create difficulties

i'd also like to add that it seems like they're making everything post s14 Epsilon simulations which im both glad for and a little saddened by due to the character development that will be lost.
