I happen to know our local register of deeds and I've always been curious about my houses's actual age. When I bought it, they just had it listed as "1900" which is not out of the question for the neighborhood and style of home, but is often an indicator that it's just "old" and they're not sure. So I asked the register of deeds to see if they had original sale records for my property, and it turns out they do! I'm not sharing them because it is my literal address, but it turns out that my house was probably built between 1866-1869. A good chunk older than I thought!
The property sold originally for $300 in 1866, and then again in 1869, likely with the house built, for $1,200.
